I had been having alot of problems setting up a syncing method with my Mac email address with my Android. I have spent a long time searching online for ways to sync.
Anyways, I figured it out myself and this is what I did in order to get everything to sync to me android.
1. Open @email app on phone
2. press menu > + Add Account
3. Type in your email, " [email protected] ", and password
4. Click Manual Setup > Click IMAP account
5. type exactly in IMAP, " p08-imap.mail.me.com "
6. Security type " SSL " > Click next
7. type exactly in SMTP, " smtp.me.com " > Security type "none" > Click next
Done! And here are some screen shots below. Well hope this helps someone out there. +1 if it helped you. This process should also work if you have a @mac.com just change the imap p08-imap.mail.mac.com and smtp.mac.com

I can receive mail, but can't configure smtp for outgoing, keeps me telling that invalid username/pass was entered. I tried [email protected], or just xxxx but can't do. Also changed security as showed in several other guides and nothing yet.
Help!

Looking at your port number, 587, I think that is a SSL port. Change your outgoing settings to SSL and enter your username in the field.
Follow this Instructions and only change what i wrote

No bro follow the example I left exactly the only things I asked you to change was 1. Imap server 2. Port 3. Security type. Click Next and change the 4. SMTP server and thats it now you can recieve and send your email. The username and password are already in place because you can not manual setup without placing your full account like " [email protected]" than your "Password".
I have never had an issue with me.com email account on my phone. Here are my settings:
Incoming settings
Username: [email protected]
Password: *******
Imap server: p99-imap.mail.me.com (p99 maybe different, check settings in email on computer)
Port: 993
Security type: SSL
Imap path prefix: Optional
Outgoing settings:
SMTP server: smtp.me.com
Port: 587
Security type: TLS (accept all certificates)
Require sign in: Checked
Username: [email protected]
Password: ******
EDIT: Original settings did not work on iCloud, had to change incoming IMAP server to p**-imap.
Followed directions from here: iCloud mail
Not sure that I need to list anything else, but will look and answer if something else is needed.
Well the way I did it it works really well with icloud as well, but thanks for your input though. + 1 for the edit and link.

Apple email on Galaxy S3
Hi Frostacious,
I found your post most useful for setting up Apple iCloud email on my Galaxy S3. The incoming mail set up worked first time and seemed to sync perfectly with iCloud. However, the settings for outgoing mail gave me an error "server not available" when I tried to send an email. I tried various permutations of the outgoing settings but all gave the same error. When I set up the outgoing as per your post it seems to accept the parameters OK - i.e. no error is generated at set up.
Can you help?
Much appreciated.
Des.

I'm currently using hTc TyTN with 1.35.255.2 ROM WWE and having a problem with MMS. Almost every time MMS Composer tries to connect to MMS server, a notification below shows up and I have to choose Yes to continue.
"In order to send/download MMS, the current active connection must be closed (this may affect other application in use). Do you want to continue?"
After the connection is successful, MMS is downloaded fine and GPRS connection is automatically disconnected.
Is there a way to avoid this message to show up?
same here
I have the same issue, although accepting to close the current connection doesn't actually send the mms - it remains on the outbox.
how did you manage to get it sent?
If it helps the only active connection I can think of is of Yahoo Go.
hi, latinoxxx,
Can you try to have only one connection in Connections control panel? Also, as you wrote you can not send MMS, can you receive them?
Is there anybody else having the same issue with myself?

Create a new MMS and go Menu|Options|Message Options...
Then, with the settings from your provider create/edit the server shown.
Also, make sure it is set to default. (shown by red arrow)
Guys, this is an operator issue. Your operator has 2 GRPS profiles, one for normal GPRS, and the other for MMS. They differ mainly on the different APNs (access point names) - of course proxy URL, login may be different too.
From the hardware standpoint, it can only support one GRPS connection at any one time and therefore you must stop the existing connection before switching to another.
WM6 actually supports multiple ARN - but I haven't tried it. Apparently, there is a registry you can turn on. See http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb416347.aspx
the fact still stands that it couldnt/wouldnt close the other connection even if you say yes. All sorted now tho.
Summary of settings for the "Universal" to work with 3 network Australia
There are 2 primary connections you need to set up.
One is for accessing Planet3 or 3 content, which is basically intranet site made by Three...in here you can only view Three content, its not full internet where you can surf anywhere on the web you want.
The second connection you need to make is for browsing the full internet just like you would on your computer.
After you have created the connections outlined below you will have to manually select or switch between them depending on what you want to do ie: surf the internet or view 3 content.
To get Planet3 (3content) working you have to set up the following connection:
1) Go to Settings - Connections - then click the Connections icon
2) Under "My ISP" click on 'Add a new modem connection
3) Enter the name for the connection: 3services
4) Select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS , 3G) - then click Next at bottom
5) Access point name: 3services - then click Next
6) User name: *****@three.com.au
(when you signed up with 3 you where given a username & password. Enter you username before the @symbal)
Password: Enter your password

7) Click finnish
To access the Internet you have to set up the following connection:

Send Message - immediately
User Name - your full Three email address (including @three.com.au). This will always be your 3 email address even if you are using forwarding
Password - it's a while since I set this up, but from memory it's the 4-digit PIN that you specify when setting up voicemail. Customer care should be able to reset this for you if necessary
Incoming mail server - mail.three.net.au
Mailbox type - IMAP4

You can also set up your pop3 email accounts, use the settings as you would setting it up on your PC.
Registry Change for PIE
1) Using a registry editor, find the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent
2) Edit the default value to "paragon"
3) Soft reset your universal

If your using Opera as your Browser then you can get access to most places without having to do anything else.
If your using pocket internet explorer (PIE) then its best to make changes to your registry. I personally have found that PIE seems to run faster than Opera, my Universal in general runs better without it installed, and the big bonus is that it intergrates better with Planet3. Whats even better is PIE PLUS its proving to be a very good broswer option.
At this stage Video streaming has not been worked out yet, this is for viewing Mobile TV, Big Brother, World Cup soccer etc....
There has been lots of testing done with various streaming players and the latest testing has been on the WM6 roms with their inbuilt players, however still not fully working as of yet.
Three has recently released the Depod 838Pro which is using WM5
http://www.three.com.au/PhoneDetailAction.do?mid=27&mname=Dopod 838Pro
I think our solution might be in there !!!

The Depod runs on Microsft Windows Mobile 5.0, that means that if we do get the software off it we still wont be able to install it on the Universal ?
lalalalallalalalla
I have found that WM6 which has a built in streaming player works with some of the MobileTV channels offered by 3. Channels such as CNN and a few others work ..... finally.
Very nice. Thanks. Now...how do I get a 3 sim card for my Universal. They dont sell SIM cards...last time I checked.
Nice summary! That useragent string was EXACTLY what I was looking for!
Now I've got everything working but MMS and Video streaming... (I tried Ivan's roms a while back - but they didn't seem to work for me - it might have been the earlier beta releases...)

They do sell SIM Cards - just ask for a USIM only sale (trust me, I work for a 3 Dealership....)
3's knowledge base is down
I bought my USIM back in August last year. I got the $29 cap on no contract, cancel anytime, without a phone. No problems at all. Used it in a Sony M600i, Nokia N73, LG something, Treo 750 and an HTC Universal without any trouble.
Just go in and say you have a phone, and would like to get a USIM pack on the $29 cap (or whatever you want). They will transfer your number or whatever you like. Was very easy.
My Treo 750 and HTC Universal work great with X-Series too!!

This is a common issue.
I have Verizon.. If you have Verizon Keep reading, otherwise search the forums for all the proper reg settings.
You need to make sure all the server settings are correct.
there are also a few reg keys you need to change.
VERIZON MMS SETTINGS FOR ARCSOFT MMX 5.0.XX
MMS Settings:
Server Name: Verizon MMS <this can be whatever you want
Gateway: Blank
Port: 80
Server Address: http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms
Connect Via: The internet
Send Limit: 300k
Wap Version: 2.0
**** I have seen the Server address reported as VZW.com where I have VTEXT.com on may posts. I had this setting but could not send.. I made a few changes including this server address and I was able to send. I do not know if it was the server address or one of the other changes, but everything works perfect for me.
Also Check the Following Reg Keys:
HKLM>Software>Arcsoft>Arcsoft MMS UA>Config>MM1>Wspheader
Modify or add a new string called X-VzW-MDN with the value of your 10 digit number.
X-VzW-MDN 5554443333
Modify the following to look like this:
User Agent: utstar68kv1
x-wap-profile: http://uaprof.vtext.com/utstar/xv68k/xv68k.xml
Accept-Charset: us-ascii;utf-8;iso-10646-ucs-2;iso-8859-1
I'm fairly certain these are all the changes I've made.
It's also a good idea to backup these settings to a .reg file... so if you decide to flash a new firmware, or upgrade your Arcsoft Version you can just apply the .reg.. (Yes upgrading Arcsoft, deletes your previous settings.)
Dam, I have sprint, this suck, lol I hope someone might have the right tools to maybe find a solution to this problem of picture and file mail
Alright I have set up a new server for the mail but I don't have a clue about how to modify the registry . Can someone give me a play by play on this?

I'll apologize in advance if is this is a really dumb question. I know how to make the registry changes. But where do I change that first group of settings?
Go to sms/mms , tap the menu at the bottom and go to mms options. then go to the server tab , tap the add new server put in the info above then set it as default server. Then you are good to go. It will send and receive after this is done but it will not show that it is coming from you until after the registry is tweaked . I finally got that done on mine this afternoon and it seems to be working great .
Let me tell you there are no dumb questions here . I am a total newb here and this has all blown my mind that this stuff can be done.
some guy sMMS works great for me. As far as I know its free still you just get a naggy 5 second advertisement at the beginning and before you send your message. It's worked pretty flawless. Cmon though is $5 really that much to get rid of the ads?
Would this work for me?
I have a sprint mogul but it is on Pageplus network, under verizon wireless
After a flash didnt backup IOTA, so now the gps wont work, and have no idea where to go, it keeps trying to "Vison" so I have no idea where to go
awwww crap!!! im trying to do this with telus using dcds 3.23 and i was told that itsa a carrier specific problem, it just can't be done on telus' network. so, regardless of the rom i cannot send mms. oh someone PLEASE prove me and the telus data network guy wrong
I have been trying to get MMS working on Telus also but everything fails. I now get this Forbidden error message coming up when trying to send out the message.

[GUIDE] How to Place/Receive FREE USA VoIP/SIP Calls on your Galaxy Tab
Hi Folks, having the need to place and receive free calls via VoIP/SIP while I was out of the US. I just research and search a few and end up with this a solution. So below is a handy guide of how to place/receive free calls to any phone on the USA while out abroad or just being on the USA via 3G or WIFI connection.
This process help out people who bought the GT by their own and don’t have a data plan or just want to place and receive calls to any phone when had poor reception or on vacations…. the possibilities are huge!
So, let’s get started!
How it Works?
As we know we can place Free GV calls on our PC’s to every number within the USA. So International numbers apply? Well NO, but we can, that’s the reason of this guide.
As I mentioned before with this solution we could place and receive free calls from any USA not matter we are on the world ever we get a 3G or WIFI connection so this is an economic way to be in contact with our people and don’t hurt our pockets with roaming charges.
1st Step – Activating our Google Voice number!
-As we know GV only accepts users from the USA and if we are out we get this message:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This means the GV system know our IP address isn’t from the USA and don’t let us proceed with the registration. So we need to change the IP for one of the USA.
How I do register a GV account?
-We need to get a FREE USA #. In my case I used IPKALL (ipkall.com), once you get registered we need to get a SIP (Session Internet Protocol), this is what will let us have a session to place and receive calls.
-To get a SIP# enter on Callcentric site (callcentric.com) and create an account. Then you will receive an email with the SIP account information.
-Then enter to your IPKALL account and enter the callcentric information you received on your email and save it.
-Download Express Talk software to your PC from (http://download.cnet.com/Express-Talk/3000-2349_4-10400187.html) and install it.
-Once installed go to Options > Lines and enter the callcentric information:
Display Name: YOUR NAME
Server: CALLCENTRIC.COM
SIP#: YOUR CALLCENTRIC #
Password: YOUR CALLCENTRIC PASSWORD-Download HotSpot Shield (hotspotshield.com) to your PC to change your IP address (it change automatically), once you get it installed go to your web browser and delete Cookies.
-Enter to the Google Voice activation: If HotSpot is running it will let you activate your account. So start choosing your GV and PIN #.
-Then GV will ask you for a Forward Call #, enter the IPKALL one. GV will make a call to that number and it will ring on Express Talk softphone on your PC. Accept the call and enter the digits google will give you.
-GOOGLE ACTIVATION DONE!
OK, by now we could place and receive free calls from GV to any USA # from our computer.
STEPS TO PLACE AND RECEIVE CALLS ON MY ANDROID
-Download the following Apps from Market: Google Voice, GVoice Callback and CSipSimple.
-On GVoice Callback configure: When to use Callback to your preference, then place your Google Username and Password, then on Callback# put your IPKALL# and done.
-On CSipSimple go to Menu > Accounts and ADD ACCOUNT. Under United States search Callcentric and put your Callcentric information (CC# and Password) and Save.
By now we could place/receive FREE calls to/from USA#. Also you could receive free Calls on every place you were in the World. You could place calls to #s outside the USA at the Google Voice low rates saving bucks from Roaming charges. Just remember give your IPKALL number to all your contacts.
In my case I had configured my cell, if I don’t answer the incoming call on my cell it will forward the call to my GT.
I hope this help you guys!!!!
How would you perform this step:
--
-On GVoice Callback configure: When to use Callback to your preference, then place your Google Username and Password, then on Callback# put your IPKALL# and done.
--
If Google Voice website asks you to verify the IPKALL# that you are supposed to add?
How are you going to confirm the 2 digits number they need before accepting it?
This is great. Thank you!

Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA Premium App
Hi everyone, first of all, i apologise for my bad english.
Yesterday i finnally got my N4. It is the first time I have an android device, plus i am having issues with it, it is all more difficult. Here is the thing:
When you start your device at first, you are supposed to follow some first steps, i skipped the part of the sim (I still need to cut it), i entered my wifi, and when it Comes to enter your Google account, it gives me an error that pretty scares me: it says something like "a reliable connection to the server cannot be established, it is possible that this is about a temporal error or that the android device isnt prepared to data services, If the problem persists, call the customer service"
After that, my device doesnt sync for gmail, chrome, everything else, i cannot acces play store due to an error it gives me, i also cannot surf the net, use any application that requires internet (all of them :S?)
Ive tried everything I think its in my hand before posting. Rebooting, logging out reboot and logging in again, erasing all (the big default reset), etc, and it doesnt get solved ;(
I would appreciate a lot if you could point me in the right direction, but i think the device is broken somehow, and i"ll have to send it to be repaired :S
Thank you in advance.

I think it is a problem with your router or ip setup.
Try this:
Set wireless connection ip-s with static and same as you get automatically from router. And DNS server put 8.8.8.8

Your best bet is to do a factory reset and don't skip any configuration needed to complete setting up this nice phone

I have already tried that too, the only part I skippped is the microsim one, i only have a sim on my old phone, i dont dare to cut it if then it doesnt work on is device and ill have to wait until i receive the microsim to sim adaptor.
As it follows, i enter my wifi data, that doesnt give me any error, and after that, the gmail account (which is the same I used to buy the device). After 2min or so, it gives me the error comented on #1 :s
I dunno if it does matter, but i mean factory restore as the option inside settings > security copy > restore factory data
Thank you.
Go to settings>Wireless
Press and hold your connected access point
Check Show advanced options
Click IP settings and change from DHCP to Static
Enter your IP/DNS
You have to know what is your phone's ip, or you could view ipad ip and change the last number.
IP: 192.168.XXX.XXX
Gateway: 192.168.XXX.XXX (Your router address)
Netmask: 255.255.255.0 (Usually it is like that)
DNS: 8.8.8.8 (It's google's dns, maybe you should use dns from your internet provider.
View your ipad ip:

Thank you for that explanation, but i am afraid it doesnt solve the problem. By using the 8.8.8.8 (static connection) dns, chrome gives me the error that there is no connection to wifi, if i use the same dns i have on my ipad, it says, connection acceptable, but it takes years to load a page (in case it does)
Thank you all for your effort, i rly appreciate that.
Can you :
- configure the same network configuration that you have on your tablet, on your phone (IP,netmask,DNS, network,gateway)
- disable networking on your tablet
- try again.
If it fails, you should think about sending it back.

You can also flash back the factory images but since you are still under warranty and don't really used to this kind of technical stuff, i won't advise you to do so.
Just keep in mind that sadly, the device is very popular and that Google will have new phones available only in about 3 weeks.
Could it possibly be locked to a certain network ?
Or have you bought it from the Play Store ?

He is having WiFi issues.
Someone from another forum of my country told me he had the same problem due to the internet provider company, he has told me to update my modem/router, at least, that is what fixed his problem,
