What does *#0*# do? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

What does *#0*# do? I see some people using it but I don't know what it is suppose to do. I've never tried it because I don't know what it does or if it is safe.
It would be great if someone could help me out.

no one?

This is what u get when u enter that code into your dialer... its just a test code.. u can use it to check if there is any dead pixels on your phone and if the stylus is working right.. u don't have to worry...do it to check if u got a defective phone with dead pixels.. I did it the day I bought the galaxy note..

It just loads a set of diagnostic tests you can run on your device, mostly to test the screen, stylus, and speaker. Like the person above said it is good to test for dead/stuck pixels.

Just tested it. Worked fine. Does this work on non-samsung devices?

Weird lines on screen

Well, it started yesterday and it keeps driving me nuts. It's present both in the system as well as 4ext or even the splash screen so it is definitely a hardware issue. Is there any way to get rid of them because my contract ends in november but I was going to stay with my DHD and get myself a PS3 (very nice offer from my carrier)
It looks like that, it's not a screenshot but it looks exactly like that:

what seems to be an officer problem?
the faint horizontal lines on the screen. That is only a picture but live they also flicker.
You could try replacing the screen yourself, but it could happen that the gpu is the problem, in which case you can't do anything on your own...

I remember having the same issue right after I bought my DHD and I remember rooting and reflashing it helped I recently changed my Radio software, you think it might have anything to do?
It's not hardware. I get it on the current versions of the 3 kernel. Synergy said it was to do with fb (not sure what it is) and he's working on it.

FB....hmmm....frame buffer (only thing that comes to mind except FaceBook) Anyway you're a life saviour man! I was worried that I will have to get a new phone.

Security Flaw of Samsung phones

There is a cool trick how to see desktop of the phone if it is protected with the password. It does work on S3 I've tried it on my phone.

Actually just tested and it works, managed to make a call by carrying out the process a few quick times.
Not sure what, other than making calls this could do though.

Depending on the device, it allows FULL access to the phone.
I can not open the previous reply link but here is the video where some guy with a bit of effort completely disables the lockscreen code http://shkspr.mobi/blog/2013/03/new-bypass-samsung-lockscreen-total-control/

cmon, anyone? takes like 2 seconds to check
I can add that what I mean by press in, is that I can feel that the glass is getting pressed a little back..
Stop pressing it then?

Wow, what a nice answer.
I was looking to find out if my back glass had gotten damaged.
Cmon, anyone? Probably be my last bump before I let thread die
Gave mine a gentle press, and nothing. I agree with pepdavies, stop pressing it in.

don't know how I got this, but I have a spot on my screen which doesn't register touches. I have attached a quickmemo of what I'm talking about. can it be fixed, and how?

update touchscreen firmware, if not, it's a hardware defect.
there's plenty of these threads around
You can try update firmware but probably won't help. I have it too, for the second time. The fix is to replace the screen.
It often happens when charging the phone while doing something that makes it heat up. The cpu gets too hot and fries that part of the screen.
It can definitely happen without charging. I'm using a different phone now.
