Removing Facebook data from Phone app - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I set up my Facebook account to NOT sync wih my contacts but some people's phone numbers/contact info still shows up when I press phone. They aren't in my contacts list, but they do show up in that contact list above the keypad. Is there a way to remove that info? I just hate clogging up my phone with unnecessary junk.
EDIT: Never mind, I seemed to have figured it out. I logged out, logged back in, and killed the sync before it had a chance to get started. Mods, please delete.

Try logging out and go to applications and find the Facebook app force close clear data and try logging back in see if that works

FB and Twitter do not sync

They were syncing fine before I did a factory reset, now they just say 'sync is temporarily down, it will be back up shortly'.
I've rebooted, tried deleting and recreating the accounts, neither worked.
Any ideas why this is happening after a factory reset?

Honestly it just takes some time. A lot of people had this error, including me. If you wait a day or two it usually just fixes itself. That is what happened with me. And even now sometimes when Facebook syncs, it gives me that error, but usually tries again in a couple of hours and decides to work.
Once it can connect to the server though, you may find that it doesn't grab your contacts. If this happens, go to the main contacts page and hit Menu>Get Friends. You should be able to select the account and manually add people. If the account is listed but grayed out, it means that it hasn't yet been able to even connect to the server.
Well, its been more than 24 hrs, but I'll wait another day or two. :-\

I don't have twitter, but I have the same issue with fb. Has not sync'd since friday.

Mine started syncing again, but I did have to use the 'get friends' to pull my contacts into my address book.

I had this issue on the first day. It initially got my Facebook friends then seemed to lose them somewhere and wouldn't get them again. I actually deleted my Facebook profile and put the info in again and it worked. Redoing the facebook settings takes all of 30 seconds so it seems to be the quickest fix.
Try this fix I got somewhere else. It worked for me after a few tries.
1. Remove your Facebook account on your phone.
2. Go to the Facebook webpage and go to your Application Settings.
3. Remove "Samsung Mobile."
4. Wait a few minutes and add your Facebook account again.
Something else I tried, which may or may not have helped was turning on the auto sync when adding the Facebook account.

'the process com.htc.bg has stopped unexpectedly'

Hey guys,
Hoping you can help me with this besides doing a hard reset. I had to resync all of my People contacts over again and now they won't link with Facebook contacts (won't show the Facebook picture in Favorites or link in People at all - when I'm in People and click the sync button to click 'link Facebook profile', the list is empty).
I've tried loggin out and then back in to Facebook, but no luck.
What can i do to fix this?
Did you remove HTC sense
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
No.
I think I just fixed it (I googled the error message and tried a couple things I read):
I went to the setup program (the one that you got the first time you started the phone), and went through it until reaching the facebook options. Logged out, and logged in again. I then re-synced HTC contacts and slowly it refreshed the Facebook stuff and I could manually link contacts to FB contacts.

Contact pics?

So i got fed up with widgets and google voice not showing contact pics. So i removed my facebook and twitter account. But there is still no pictures where before when i would unlink a contact the pic would start working. But none of them work in these apps. I've tried resyncing the google contacts and still no pictures. What can i do short of wiping my phone? thanks

So this what i did to kinda fix the problem.
I noticed when i logged into my facebook account it would start loading up all the pics from my google acount (which is what i want) once it was done with that it started to replace them with facebook images which would make the widgets and google voice go blank again. So i just logged into facebook and waited till most of my pctures showed up then removed the facebook account partway through the sync. Now i have my google contact pictures in voice. Well most of them anyway. I guess it will do for now untill i can figure out a way to manually control these pictures. Damn u motoblur

If the pictures are from facebook they will only show up on your contacts. third party software cannot access facebook data, which is a decision made by facebook. It is not motoblur related.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Ah that makes sense but it doesn't explain my orginal problem that now that i've removed the facebook account none of those apps have any pictures (even though i do have pics with my google account) if i could just get those back and working fully id be happy

Maybe remove your google account and facebook account to try and clear all your contacts. Then re add your google acct and not the facebook account. Im not too sure.
Im not even sure if you can remove the google acct.

Nah i tried removing my google account its the master account and it told me to do a format in the system options. Im almost considering it but i need to get all the apps i want all orginized so it doesn't take me forever to reinstall.
I figure by now someone would have made an app or be a menu in the system for controlling contact pictures. It seems the mtoblur sync for facebook (because the offical facebook account can't be used on the droid x) and once its synced just says its the contact pictures now and doesn't give any option not to turn it off. I really do like the status updates when people call but id rather be able to see contact pictures on my homescreen.

Try syncmypix app
already formated but maybe i'll look at that app this time around for syncing some of my pictures, do you guys know of anyway that I could sign into the facebook moto blur account and not have picture synced? because isn't that the only program that will show me status updates when someone calls?

[Q] android.process.acore has stopped??

Whenever i try to sync my facebook account or go into my contacts i get the error "the process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". I get this everytime. What does this mean and how can i fix it? Thanks in advance!!!
if you removed the twlauncher that is your problem. the facebook under the intergraded contacts is tied into tw. I have a facebook under other accounts that I can never get to open so I just do with out linked contacts lol
Sent from my Samsung Fascinate using XDA App
lol yeah i put tw back on and all is well now
So, if you remove TWlauncher, does that mean you loose the ability to sync facebook contacts to google contacts?
yes via the integrated facebook contacts
Sent from my Samsung Fascinate using XDA App
This just started for me too, but I couldn't figure out what was causing it. How can I disable the Facebook syncing attempts that cause this? Is removing the Facebook sync account enough, or do I have to disable another apk as well?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
just uncheck contacts under the facebook account in settings or remove the sync account all together
Sent from my Samsung Fascinate using XDA App
Actually, scratch that. Ever since I got a replacement Fascinate, the integrated Facebook syncing refused to sync my Facebook contacts. I tried everything possible, but it wouldn't work. Since it wouldnt work anyway, I figured I'd just disable it along with TW, but I decided to enable the TW launcher again, and now I see it's syncing properly now. Go figure. Well, since it's working now, I guess I'll just leave TW enabled, since I want my Facebook contacts to sync.

[Q] Facebook Sync?

I've been trying to figure out how to sync my Facebook with my phone, but I think I'm running into a glitch. I go to Settings, Accounts & sync, Add Account. I then click on the facebook button, but then it just shoots me back to the previous page (Accounts & sync). The very first time I did this, it asked me to log into my account, but then it didn't add my FB account and just brought me back to the previous screen. I've looked online for a solution, tried things like uninstalling the facebook app and reinstalling it, but it just does the same thing. Any thoughts?

You didn't look particularly hard did you? Check down on the Themes/Apps section for this phone. There is a leftover bit from the SE code that was stripped that ends up blocking the addition of a FB account from the official FB app. You have to use another app. Try using the SonyEricsson Life.Contacts beta, or use WATTO's FB Synch adapter (I use the latter, but there isn't an option to synch only matching contacts, just all or nothing).

sign out of the fbook app, so there is no account associated with it, go to manage applications and clear data for the fbook app, no go to accounts and settings and try to sign in

I follow your instructions:
I sign out, clear data, and THEN do accounts-->sync--->add account--->facebook--->sign in---->fb starts up--->i back out of it--->nothings changed in my contacts, and furthermore when I go into accounts: there is still only google synced up. no evidence of any fb sync

For those not stuck on the borked CDMA version, yes, this. Also make sure you have not moved the FaceBook application to the SD card, as that will also commonly mess up the account synch adapters.
Same goes for me. I logged out, cleared app cache, cleared app data, reinstalled, tried to add FB sync account, logged in successfully, facebook opened but no sync account was added.
The only way i figured it out is to use the r800x UK firmware because it uses the sony ericsson base instead of google, so facebook contacts arent blocked.
My two cents, hope it helps
