I used the ACER Recovery Installer v2.53 (if this is the latest) to backup my current recovery image to install my chosen ROM.
If I want to backup that (save the recovery image to SD Card or ext. HDD), where can I find it so if I'm planning to restore back my old system if I don't line the ROM that I installed?

I have a few questions which I am a little unclear after rooting my Eris:
What is the purpose of partition sdcard option on the Android Sys Recovery Menu? Within it, there are 4 options and what are they?
is Nand backup sufficient or do I need Nand + ext backup? I am getting an error when running Nand + ext.
When installing custom rom, do I have to do the amon's recovery image step or do I just boot the phone with the system recovery, wipe and flash zip from sdcard?
Thanks.
Aman Ra replaces the default recovery. IE when you hold volume up while powering on you are in Aman Ra, this will be a permanent change unless you unroot I think. Essentially as long as you installed it when you rooted, you never install it again.
The partitions are used for Apps2SD. as is the ext partitions. Unless your using Apps2SD you only need to do a nand backup. Once you start using Apps2SD you will want to do both.
Lastly often enough when a nand+ext back up will not work, it is because you are missing a /sys/sd folder.
thx for the info
I got it now, so for installing custom rom, all I have to do is boot to the recovery, do a wipe, flash sd card. I am glad I rooted
Hi all. Just wondering, I just made a backup via cwm recovery. So do I have to flash the original main Rom first then flash the backup or I do not need to flash the main Rom at all? Thanks in advance!
simply go in recovery to backup/restore, select restore and you are set. CWM backs up everything including rom boot sdext etc
Hello,
I was on a stock ROM and decided I wanted to try a custom ROM so using TWRP 2.7.1.0 (latest) I created a ROM backup. I had trouble flashing roms using TWRP when the ROM was on the extSD card and I had copied and pasted the file. Once I downloaded the ROM through the phone and flashed from the Downloads directory on the internal storage it finally worked.
So now I want to go back to my stock ROM. I have a copy of the backup on the internal and external SD card. Neither restore will work. Every time it trys to "Restore Data" it fails. Now I am in Recovery mode with no OS and no ROMS on the internal storage.
Any idea why the restore won't work and if I have any options with no ROM installed?
I using TWRP 2.7 for my Galaxy grand 2 Duos (SM-G7012). When I try to backup there no option to backup android-secure which contain all apps that moved to external storage. When restore that backup I find all my apps that moved to external storage cannot be open. I need to re-install that apps to work again. My question is any recovery that include android-secure when backup? or just our device doesn't have android-secure?
Try philz recovery just flash through your recovery and get philz recovery
But this recovery have bug is that it take time to go to into recovery booting may be take 1 - 2 min
Zip is attachment with this post just flash it through your current custom recovery
And make your backup again
Firstly, I have to admit that I'm quite out of sync with the latest development.
I have a Nexus 7 2012 16gb Wifi model and has rooted and installed a custom ROM from the start.
The recovery is cwm 6.0.1.0
Due to previous system hang (forcing me to factory reset), I have left the tablet for simple usage.
During this holiday period, I have managed to recover my data before the factory reset from the nandroid backup.
However, I realized that there is a significant storage size discrepancies due to a recursive "0" folder in the data which I read was a 4.2.x problem.
I have thus plan to format the sdcard so that it can start from a clean state with either the current ROM or a higher version.
To flash a new ROM (xenonHD lollipop), I tried the following
1) nandroid + titanium backup the current ROM with recovered data (done)
2) clean wipe the /system, /boot, factory reset (done)
3) install a lollipop rom (xenonHD) (failed as stuck in a "patching system image unconditionally")
Can anyone advice on whether I can either cleanup my sdcard on the current ROM 4.2.1 or which are the readings I should do to flash the higher version ROM?
I read of suggestions to use 4ext recovery or using adb fastboot, but I really kind of out of touch with the latest tools.
Thanks in advance.
