Messed up display - myTouch 3G Slide General

Main flash screen at startup is fine, so is main bootloader screen, but display when I get to any screen beyond that is all messed up. I can't even unlock the screen. OS seems to be booting okay, from what I can see through the lines. Might the main (flex) cable be the culprit? It was fine before and suddenly wasn't.

The same thing has happened to me. I decided to buy my christmas gift early ( an amaze 4g) because I was tired of these glitches!! I'm not sure what it is thought

Vibrant Touchscreen Unresponsive

The touchscreen on my Samsung Vibrant stopped working this morning..It worked fine last night and this morning nothing..Tried a factory reset through Odin and still unresponsive..
Can anyone help me?
If you've reflashed and it didn't fix the problem, and nothing damaged the phone over night, then its probably more than a simple loose connection issue.
May have to get a warranty replacement.

Nothing damaged the phone..I was rooted with the stock Rom running OneClickLagFix from the market..
This morning the touchscreen stoppen working, was able to reflash back to stock using Odin..And touchscreen still not working..
Tmobile is sending me a new one, but would sure like to fix it before than as I hate using the loaner phones they have.
You sure nothing happened to the phone? That seems very strange. Are you using a screen protector? Download any weird apps? Kinda scary that the screen would just fail. You didn't do much to the phone as fast as mods go while some people do crazy stuff.

Is th phone plugged in? The screen gets very iffy while plugged in.
Weird. My screen was not accepting touch input about 10 minutes ago. However, a reset fixed mine.
I'm sure nothing crazy happened to the phone, It's only 3 days old..I had to have my other one replaced under warranty and I just got this on Thursday night.
things like that happens, looks like you need a replacemet.

I'm having touch problems too. It takes me multiple tries to unlock the phone. I thought it was just the cooler weather.

I had this issue with after market chargers. Was yours having problems with it as well?

Ever thought perhaps that had something to do with the issue (i.e. trying to OC it messed the phone up and eventually the digitizer failed)?
Only asking because some people think "oh it froze, but it booted back up fine. All is well."
It's like being surprised you have Lung Cancer because you quit smoking last year, but smoked for 30 years before quitting...
Also, using some after-market car chargers can kill you touchscreen. I've had that happen before.

[Q] just purchased a g2 for $30. screen doesnt turn on

The phone definitely boots up because the lights on the buttons flash on then turn off after some time. The keyboard also lights up. You can tell the backlight turns on on the screen, but there is no picture.
Anyone have any idea about what I should do? Thinking about trying to restore to a stock Tom somehow tonight. Then I'm thinking about looking for screen replacements.
I was curious if anyone has had this issue before.
Update 07/14/11
So I got the screen and switched the old one out for the new one. This one also only has the backlight turning on, but I noticed when I put a part back on, there was a little bump in the middle of the phone. Haven't had a chance to fix it, but I noticed it's a piece hitting this rubber piece that seems to "transport" the sound for the mic from the bottom of the phone to the actual microphone module within the phone.
Removed that rubber piece, and I'll try installing it later. I was getting some blue and red visible in the middle of the phone. Anyone know what's wrong?

ebay for the parts and look around for the link for repairs. I don't exactly remember the link, but it's in one of the "spring replacement" threads. Good luck

How sure are you it's the LCD screen? Replacement screens cost more than what I bought the phone for...lol
it's mostly the physical connection to the screen.
and on your note about it costing more than what you bought the phone for... there are tons of parts on the phone that will cost more than 30bucks. not much you can do about that since you got it non fully functional.

Sorry to be a both, but what exactly is the physical connection? Do I find it by opening the phone up completely to the point where I replace the actual LCD?

Never had to do it myself, but there is a cable connecting the two parts of the phone. That is usually where this problem originates from. It's not easy to fix though if your not familiar with fixing electronics from what i have seen.

I've taken apart my laptop completely and put it back together before. Completely as in taking the lcd off and different chips and wireless modules and stuff. I think it may be something I can handle. I'm going to take a look at it now. Restoring wont do me any good because not even the boot screen shows up.

It's pretty much a ribbon cable that feeds data to display and stuff. When you buy a spare screen, it usually comes with a connector

So I completely tore apart the phone, got to the point where if I had another LCD screen, I could have easily switched it out. But I don't, so I just put it all back together. I really hope this new LCD will fix the issue. I really hope it's not some other motherboard issue. If all else fails, it goes up on eBay for $70-$100 as is for the phone. If I fix it, I just got myself a phone that goes for $200 used for only $57.
sure. goodluck with it. if you can do it then you're all set. good luck

Only $57? That would make the lcd screen $27 if u really paid $30 for the phone, but you said the screen was more than what u paid for the phone...so now im confused.

Sorry. After some searching on eBay, I found some sellers selling it for a few dollars less than 30, e.g. 27.
But I decided to go with a seller who sold more than 200, who claims the screen is an OEM screen, and who is top rated. He sells his for $32. Which makes my phone $62 after all is said and done.
The housing has some scratches on the top and bottom though, which decreases the value a bit, but hey, if it works I'll probably keep it as a backup. Currently have the HD2, but I got a Vibrant with original box and accessories for $100, so I think I'm going to sell the HD2.
That was kinda off topic, sorry
LCD screen should be here by the 13th.

I don't own a G2 but I still think this could be a similar issue to what we get over here on the HTC Droid Incredible. First, what makes you believe its still a screen issue if it lit but just didn't throw picture? Usually thats the symptom of having the wrong recovery version for the device hardware version. Normally for us what happens is we will get somebody who is new and rooting for the first time and they'll end up flashing the wrong recovery or freak out because they don't realize the root process takes a little while and yank the cord. End result being exactly what you've explained above. Phone starts but no screen. So we end up having them do the ruu or a second option which we call a "blind install" where you drop whatever your p file(ours is PB31IMG.zip) so whatever it is for the G2 drop that on the SD and reboot to hboot and do the update process by simply knowing how long to wait between key presses and what keys to hit without useing the screen. Its a unique process and all very magical. Haven't lost a single Inc yet because of this issue.
Anyways bud just a thought...

It doesn't seem to be a ROM issue.
Update 7/18: Sold the G2 on eBay and still made a good lump of money. I was very happy, until another G2 popped up with the same exact issue. Got it for a steal as well, and I tried the OEM screen I got from eBay, and it was still having issues, and it seems to cause the phone to overheat while charging. Definitely a defective screen and someones getting a great deal on a decent condition G2 because I already took the payment after I figured it was the screen I got.
I'm going to try to get a replacement from the guy that sold it to me on eBay, but I already left him positive feedback thinking it was the phone's fault.
Will update probably late July or early August when all of this gets sorted out.
TL;DR: bought 2nd g2 with same issue, turns out replacement screen didn't work in the 2nd g2, too late to not sell the first g2, getting another replacement screen to fix 2nd g2. First g2 was in better condition though =|
SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET
Just installed the second screen that I ordered, and it works PERFECTLY. Phone is perfect nowwww yay. I can't use it right now though, previous owned put a lock pattern on the phone...
Wipe the system and the data and start over.

T9193 stopped working...

I´m so freaked out with my T9193, she stopped working... It has made me so sad, I really love my little jewel...
First I suffered the infamous unresponsive screen issue, but I had it repaired, actually it has a new OEM digitizer and LCD, but there is no output at all: the screen keeps blank (black). You can tell the phone is on because of the bright of the screen, the starting vibration an charging orange light...
I know it works because I Task29 it and flashed original shipped ROM (Telstra´s), and everything went ok as I could see in my laptop.
The main idea was to sell it as parts or very cheap in order to buy an Inspire 4G, but.... well you know what: it is a HD2! and even more, it is a T9193! Bought directly in Australia and shipped to my country... I feel like part of an elite jaja...
So, my question is, what do you think: an Inspire 4G or another T9193?....
Thnx
have you tried entering the bootloader? Maybe you should get it repaired. I suspect something is wrong with the motherboard. Alternatively, it could also be the case that the LCD is not working. I had the exact same problem with my Touch HD last time around. I sent it for repair(it was on warranty) and HTC changed the motherboard. Im sure repairing it is cheaper than getting a new HD2(unless you are going for a used one). Besides, you might wanna consider getting the evo 3d/galaxy s ii instead of the inspire 4g?(its your personal preference...but im just saying...) Hope your phone comes back alive in full glory! I know how it feels when your treasured device is in a coma. I experienced it with my Touch HD and i also experienced it with my HD2 recently, when it spun for 10 mins in the washing machine. But everything is ok and its breathing fire now!
Thanks for your comments kawshigan.
Actually I was able to flash it entering to bootloader (pressing volume down while turning on), but I couldn´t see it on the phone screen, so it seems to be just the LCD....I think...

well,if you were able to flash it,there is a high chance that the motherboard and the flash is working. So,it could be either the LCD or the BUS. But for the latter, if you send it to HTC for repair, they will still replace the whole motherboard regardless of a broken BUS or chipset...its just a way of making money...but if that can revive your HD2, you should go for it

Sad death of my Nexus one

Sadly I must report the death of my Nexus One.
I held as long as I could. Was waiting for the Nexus prime but had to get another type.
She completely stopped working. Nothing. I tried everything.
Unfortunately went with the G2X. Heard a lot of people here went to it when they came out and didn't like it. But I figure it any it anyway
Nice phone. Fast, 4g. But not my N1. Track ball :-( notification light :-( etc
Time to root it and hope for the best

Sad to see it goes
I'm still holding on to mine, it's started showing some signs of aging already.
Do you still have a Nexus One desktop dock anyhow?
Never had one....
Beginning of the year the power button failed. Then it was just down hill from there

My power button is doing well, except the volume rocker. I have to push really hard to register a click

After you root your G2X you can use LG 2X/G2X Notifications form the Market to have the soft keys blink when you have a pending notification. You can also use this app to reduce how bright they are when on normally, as for most people at 100% they are simply too bright.

hehe yes have the exact same issue
1.5 years later, the power button no longer works and the volume-down button doesn't always respond. still love the phone though, waiting for the Prime.
I was waiting for the prime, but had to make the change....still sad
Interestingly my first Android phone was also a Nexus One, and I also replaced it with the G2X.
My N1 still works fine. I just stopped using it when I bought a brand new G2X for $300 on ebay. The N1 is definitely one of the best phones I've ever owned. The only real complaint I've had with it since the G'bread update is the lack of space for apps, even with the app2sd mod.
The G2X is nice, especially since it still has stock G'bread, but yeah the lack of a notification light and trackball is annoying. The stock Gingerbread camera also sucks on the G2X, so I flashed clockworkmod and installed the LG Froyo app, but now the front camera is virtually useless. Also the phone doesn't operate as well as the N1. Sometimes my internet gets stuck in upload only, the GPS is wildly inconsistent, and a couple of my apps from the N1 are also incompatible (Tetris, Asphalt 5).
Technically the N1 I have now is my second one. I got the original March of 2010, but destroyed it March of this year (fully my fault). The replacement didn't have my customized engraving, had crappy build quality (the metal band at the back and the bottom left corner of the screen glass weren't entirely flush with the phone), and it had the defective button problem. The button failed completely midway through the summer so I sent the phone in to HTC to fix it.
Right now I'm waiting for my upgrade to come in January so I can get the HTC Amaze which seems close to perfect for me, except for the 4.3" screen and HTC Sense.

display goes insane

I was on miui and the screen just went fuzzy / lines /static / white noise /
It went crazy to say the least. I figured it was the ROM and rebooted to recovery. It too had the same display issues. Kinda pissed at what happened. It eventually went back to normal but I worry that the display might have issues.
Has anyone had the display just go like that? Without a working display the phone is just toast. Good excuse to rma or have T-Mobile replace it but rather not.
Happened to my buddies vision too.. mines flawless. I worked in warranty for att.. phone that slide or hinge have issues with their screens going out more often then others.. kinda common sense if ya think of it.. more moving parts are more issues..
He also dropped his phone a lot over the past year or so he had it..
