My Note randomly uninstalls or deletes apps on its own. I am rooted and running AntoniomistrettA Note XXKKA rom and FM 2.6.35.14 Kernel. Apps include NFL GamePass and XDA Premium from the Android Market. Also I am losing folders from my external SD, like Titanium Backup and other folders I use to store music, movies, ringtones, and wallpaper.
Anyone else having this problem? Or am I doing something wrong? I always eject my phone from computer.
Thanks,
Eric

The Nexus S will mount USB storage to your laptop the exact same way that the Nexus 1 does.
You can plug both into USB, mount the storage, then drag and drop what's on your external SD card that you want to copy over from the N1 to the NS. Quick and easy. It's what I did with my NS; and allowed me to hand pick what I wanted to transfer over rather than bring along all the clutter and garbage from my SD card that was left behind from old programs I don't use any more.
Apps and settings are just showing up for some people because of the sync restore option with Google server if you enable it on both devices. Didn't for me, though.
appbrain is a good way to get all your apps over, but it won't get your settings and app data.
If you're N1 is rooted and you're happy rooting the NS then titanium backup is a quick and easy way to move over your apps whilst retaining all the user data. (Rooting both phones is cake and can be fully reversed)
In addition, something like sms backup and restore works nicely for SMS messages.
Any other settings will have to be re-applied manually but contacts etc will sync down no problems.
If you're not rooted then your new apps should sync back from market anyway (you may need to ensure data backup is checked on your N1 - can't remember)
As the chap above mentioned though, the NS internal storage mounts as a USB mass storage device anyway so music/any other data can be copied over easily.
I did it via TITANIUM BACKUP
1 click of a button and everything was there
the only thing i had to copy & paste manually were the MP3 and Videos
having both phones connected via USB (through a PC)
just drag and drop the stuff from one phone to another phone
I did this drag and paste but for some things did not work. For music and pictures it worked well but for an example I have Color Note which I was able to drag over. Color Note is an application that allows you to take notes. After dragging and pasting it I went into my Nexus S and was unable to find Color Note. I also was unable to find Astro. I bought Astro Pro and downloaded that as well. After downloading it I was unable to find Astro Pro on my Nexus S In Market it tells me it is installed and it does so under applications as well when I go to settings and then applications but I can not find it nor open it
for Apps/Games & settings you need to use backup software like Titanium Backup

Titanium's great if rooted. I would be cautious with Titanium, though. Make sure to only restore APPS data/settings. Not sure you want to be restoring SYSTEM settings from one device to another, let alone one version of Android or another. I've seen people report issues restoring settings from just one ROM version to another.
As long as he doesn't restore EVERYTHING then it is safe
just make sure to select ONLY
Restore User Apps & Data
Thanks for your help
Hello to all!!!
Many thanks for your help..
I've already receive the phone and transfered all the stuff
first impressions.....
It's an amazing phone....fast fast and even more faster that the n1....
Thanks
So I've never been content with the way I organize all of my apps into folders because I'm always confused as what to label the folders and what how to distinguish some apps. For instance, how can I determine if an app can be considered a "tool" or not because in reality most of our apps are tools..
Right now i'm using miui which places all your apps on the home screen and I don't like having 5+ pages of just apps.
What would be the best way to organize my apps into folders as well as you Multicon to just organize things a bit? What do you guys do?
I also am running MIUI and I have three folders...tools, apps, and games. It's your phone, so you decide what is a tool or app.
I have three folders- Games, Apps, Tools. I'm running MIUI but I use launcher pro and use SiMi Folder Widget for my folders.
Things I have in my apps folder: MeCanto, Moviefone, Pandora, Ringdroid, Shazam, XDA and MIUI forums apps, Yelp, stuff like that.
Things in my tools folder:Astro, Autostarts, MIUI backup, Root Explorer, MIUI Monitor, Remote Desktop and all the benchmarking apps.
Hope this helps.
Just recently (like ten minutes ago) I decided I would finally move all my Apps to my sdcard using Titanium Backup. After it was complete, I powered off and back on again just to be safe and noticed all my widgets were messed up, so I removed them and went to add them back on again. Thats when I noticed that none of the apps I originally would see under the widgets menu were there, but they were still installed on my phone. Are all the Widgets that are in Apps placed on our sdcards inaccessible or is it just me? Because if it isn't just me, then having all the Apps on the sdcard is just pointless in my opinion. Anyone else experience this?
You cannot have widgets for Apps that are on your SD card.
It is not just you.
I am not aware of how to fix this.

It isn't pointless to move apps to your SD just because widgets won't work, the whole point of apps to SD is to move LARGE apps to your SD to have more space on your phone for other apps.
guess I'll just move them back then
It's a limitation of googles apps2sd. Just like when you mount the sd card on your pc, those apps become unavailable. Before froyo and native apps2sd, we formatted the sd card with 2 partitions. One fat and one ext, then you union or symlink the ext part to /data/. It worked 1000x better than googles does. Apps where accesible while mounted, and widgets acted normal. Wish we could still do it like this.

Hi all
I am running CM7.1 with LauncherPro.
Thanks to my kids and google's recent $.10 app deals I now have about 200 apps/games on my phone and I ran out of space on my internal so I was using Titanium Backup to move apps to SD in batches of 25-30 apps. I had no problems until the last batch I did. Now the phone freezes up within 5 minutes of booting up and I have to keep popping the battery to reboot.
I figure one of the apps in that last batch has issues being moved to SD. So I want to try just moving them back. Problem is, it doesn't stay usable long enough to get back into TB and move them. Also, I'm not sure which app it is I have to move back. I tried popping out the SD card and putting it in my PC to look at .android_secure and I can see the most recent batch of apps simply by sorting by modified date. The batch I ran was for 29 apps, but this shows only 23 apps. I tried deleting those 23 asec files, but the phone is still freezing after a few minutes up.
I really, really want to avoid going back to a previous nandroid backup because I only make them once a month and the last one was 11/24 and I have made sooo many tweaks and changes since then.
Please help. Is there a log file for TB batches maybe that can help me figure out which is the problem app? Or does it sound like it might be something else?
I'm going through the same problem myself; hoping that pushing this thread back to the top will get a reply from someone.
I didn't realize until reading this that all the moving apps to the sd card which I've done lately may have caused all my recent freezing. I've also lost the homescreen icons on several of my apps.
Is there a rule about what kind of apps shouldn't be put on an sd card?
Do you have the list of apps you moved in the last batch?
Can you post it here?
I know you must not move widget on sdcard. It's a start

No widgets, no services. If any of those are moved to SD card - they won't function in the best case, and they'll make all kinds of phone weirdness in the worst case.
Bump!
This happens to me too on my galaxy s2 stock rom using my 32gb sdcard which has no issues in itself.. and i never moved apps like widgets and live wallpapers, only games with big size like angry birds etc. i dont know what can be causing this, coz without moving those apps i cant install new ones, n if i move em i cant use my phone at all what should i do ?
Yeah, not all widgets work with the app on the SD card.

you did something a month ago that caused this, probably a new app, if you are rooted backup your apps with titanium backup and uninstall them one by one to test which one is responsible for this problem
Also install various anti-virus apps from playstore and scan for viruses/malwares

I have bitdefender paid.
When delete the nomedia's, takes some time for it to reappear. So I wont be able to test it by unistalling my whole apps one by one. Is it certainly caused by an app?
Solved!! (I think)
In my case, every time I used to add my sd card, the internal pictures started to hide. Even after deleting every .nomedia file and deleting Media Storage's data, and using Media re.scan, the pictures were shown up, but after a reset or reinserting the sd card, the pictures hid again!
Even unistalling apps, didnt work for me.
So I noticed that its a problem from the sd card!
I had nothing Special in sd, but an Android folder full of files and folders.
Deleted the whole "Android" file which was in sd card, and after that, my pictures are not hiding!!
THAT MEANS THAT SOMETHING **** WAS HIDING MY PICS FROM THE ANDROID FOLDER!
I hope this fixes problems of others!
