Battery Fun - Galaxy S II General

Ok, so I bought a Galaxy Note, and reset my S2 to factory default.
And then, well, see how long it lasts until the battery is empty, without really using it..
Its on firmware 2.3.4, and all data connections disabled... but with a working SIM card.
After 12 days, 1 hour and a bit I got bored..... see picture. I guess I could wait another 3-4 days...

Thats handy to know, if I'm ever away from a power source.
Cheers
Rob

Someone turned your screen on twice!!

Approx 0,2 ~ 0,3% per hour, impressive.

This only goes to prove that AOS is not the real culprit, but network is! Thanks for sharing, mate!

5 days yeah, im assuming you mean 5 days on standby meaning you barely if ever used it in that time because it is practically impossible otherwise to get that amount of battery for 5 days.

Bang on man! think my worst case I have burned through a whole battery in a 4-5hours (chroot vnc gps etc) you know what though, it's not an iphone carry a spare!!! have a charger, have a battery pack charger, have a car charger!
the slightly more worrying factor for me is the power draw of some apps being greater than the draw on car charge.
I-on road for example probably the only truely useful AR app but V. battery intensive (gps and camera on full time go figure)

Phone in Purgatory

Hello,
I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing the same problem.
When my phone goes in to sleep mode, after about three minutes, it goes into limbo mode.
It is neither on or off. Only solution is to pull the battery and power it back on.
The only time it does not go in purgatory is when it is plugged in.
So I tried increasing both the CPU and the voltage. same problem.
I tried different roms and even went back to stock. Same problem.
Here is a screenshot.
Anyone else have the same problem? Any solutions?
I am out of ideas.
Thank you.
For one something is keeping your phone awake all the time. Do a Factory Data reset and try it for 2 hours without restoring anything. Then if it sleeps fine and doesn't have the Sleep of Death then add 1 or 2 apps at a time until you find the offending app.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Well something is keeping your phone from going into deep sleep and then locking the device up to where you need to pull the battery.
What is your setup? (ROM, kernel, CPU clock ranges, voltage ranges)
First suggestion would be to flash a different kernel and give that a go.
Second suggestion would be to start over from scratch and not restore data.
You do know purgatory doesn't exist right?
Anyways those are some creepy stats and as suggested previously going back to stock platform would be your best bet to see if your phone has a hardware issue
Sent From My Thugnificent SPH-D700 because its more than Magnificent
Looks like you tried correcting the wrong side of your CPU clock, the problem is likely your low end voltages (100, 200 MHz). It's a sleep of death; once the phone gets settled in to deep sleep, your low end voltages are acting screwy, and the phone can't kick itself into those to wake up. Pretty common when one goes about figuring out what voltages work for their phone.
And the battery graph? Those jumps are pretty normal for battery pulls on this phone. It tends to read the wrong battery voltage when it's soft reset (battery pull) as opposed to shutting down and turning on.

Your under-volting correct? if so your under-volting too much.
I had this problem when i was UV'ing a lot but only on GB. i could UV extremely on Froyo my 100MHz was @450mV and running at that state.

Actually, i kept my epic and still carry it around with me nearly every day, believe it or not, especially since cm9 was posted. Ive been messing with ics apks, mainly trying to incorporate some asus live wallpapers and modding the trebuchet launcher. I love this little phone, the hummingbird was head of it's class, not mention it was my first android phone. Also, the wolfson DAC is just plain better then our Yamaha, so i also use it as my main car music player.

I have tried to increase the voltage and removed the lower cpu mhz.. but I still got the "sleep of death."
I have tried different roms, kernals, etc... same problem
I am stock currently, tried factory resets, didn't install any programs... same problem.
As for the graph.. I kept the screen on so my phone wouldn't go into "purgatory"
Right now, I can only use my phone if it is charging, and if I keep the screen on.

Possibly some type of water damage in the phone? Possibly didn't drop it in water, but water does find its ways in. I got water damage in my phone from sweating while using it for music and working out. Also from listening to music while showering and the steam.

And? Most people don't seem to get this: Say your battery depletes 1% for every 3 minutes you have the screen on, that's 300 minutes, or 5 hours, of screen time. Which is more than acceptable.

You can try many things, also the remove battery if you want to do that, its a firmware fault, I even tryed running total stock for some days after full recovery, it comes back. Only fix i have so far is restart the phone a few times untill it works again, then it can work for few hours or sometimes a day. resetting cache moving battery etc. shouldn't help at all. atleast I dont see the logic in removing the battery if you wipe cache...? Someone please explain what els you achieve!
Yeah I'm having the same " android os" wakelock since the latest mj7 update and it's killing the battery! Reboots didn't help much, I'll try the advice above for clearing cache and if it works

What @onyxogen said makes sense now. I know that on one or 2 occasions, my battery lasted normally and i think i might have started using it right out of the socket. I mean start using it after battery full while still plugged in then disconnect later. But i did it without knowing then... I will try for real now and know for sure.

I did. Doesn't work
I posted this in many posts so far, because I am ****ing mad about no quick optimization for this "so called flagship"! The no deep sleep problem is ****ing huge, they must install something into the kernel that can regonize what apps have multiple uses of alarm_manager or something!
In the end, this problem is nothing we can do anything about. As it is samsung/android that have made the problem. I even tried this restart phone and unplug from charger while screen are on... My phone since 6hours ago have had 2m and 37s deep sleep..
I think it is so poor, that we pay so much for a phone and then the only thing samsung do is just put their trust in having android kitkat fixing it, instead of being proactive....

This would only work if it would be the only reason that stops your phone from entering deep sleep of course, so it's far from sure that it works.
For me it works since 2 weeks, but I have to repeat it every time I disconnect. Sometimes I have longer periods of no deep sleep but if I just plug it out while charging than the bug appears every time if I remember correctly.
It's an partly known android bug, since 4.1 I believe.
Note that you have to use the display for a while before unplugging!
