Hi everyone,
Is anyone having problems with the three (3G) sim in australia ?
I am currently unable to send sms and cant access the settings -> personal -> phone -> voice mail and sms settings. Is there a third party program that can fix this issue ? or some sort of a registry hack ?
Also everytime i soft-reset the xda sometimes it tends to be very long before a carrier can be detected (contracted with vodafone). Sometimes its only a matter of seconds but sometimes it can take up to 5 min without signal. Im guessing its jus a roaming issue, but has anyone come up with a way of solving this ?
Any help is appreciated ..
Cheers guys
Just interested, your ID says Optus, you say you have vodafone sim in your XDA II and your also are on a 3G network.
sorry ... maybe i should've been more clear ....
currently I have 2 numbers 1 optus and I got a new Three sim. I use the Three sim in my xda now but since the xda does not support 3G network, instead on being on the Three network, they will put me on the vodafone network as Three have a roaming contract with them. (so disregard the whole optus thing).
Three have their own 3G network in Australia but when out of coverage, they will use the more extensively covered vodafone (GSM) network.
I dont think roaming will cause problems with sms
but anyway ... thats my main problem atm. I can put up with the delayed carrier signal upon reset but the sms is a real pain.
does that make more sense ??
Hi,
I just bought the O2 Atom phone from HongKong and am using it in USA. My phone service provider is AT&T/Cingular. I have a problem to run auto configurator to automatically detect the preffered network that I am having. I think because of this reason, the O2 Atom has a very signal. I feel so bad when I spent more than $800 US and the phone doesn't work as I expected. Is there any way to change the registry so the phone can detect the preffered network automatically?
I greatly appreciate your help and suggestion.

but i couldn't get it working , and the closest suppor for HTC is in Sao Paulo and im 600 miles away
Help me please
Hi DJFuscao,
I have an HTC Tytn that I regularly use in Brazil (Sao Paulo) since oct 2006.
I´m not sure if I will be really able to help you, but I´ll try to give you at least some information about my experience.
I believe that sometimes autodetect network does not work properly. You may try to change these settings:
- Settings-->(Personal Tab)-->Phone-->(Band tab)--> Select your Network type: change this to GSM
- Settings-->(Personal Tab)-->Phone-->(Band tab)--> Select your GSM/UMTS band: GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100)
I have also experienced some problems some months ago when VIVO activated their GSM network. It simply stopped working, kept searching but did not find TIM´s network.
What I have done then:
- I have changed from Automatic Network Selection to Manual (you will find this option on "Settings-->(Personal Tab)-->Phone-->(Network tab)--> Network Selection".
- then I tried to click on Find Network on the same screen
- I chose TIM from the list
It has not worked at the first atempt because there were some different options for TIM on the list but it has eventually worked.
Another thing I would check is if it works with any other GSM carrier from Brazil. If you can borrow a SIM from some friend this could also give you some clue.
You may also find some specific information about HTC 8525 phones in Brazil on the link below:

Good luck!
Hi,
I recently bought a HTC Surround (AT&T), im from Costa Rica and we don't have AT&T as a carrier.
The phone works great with the GSM band but when i try to look for any 3G settings (using 850Mhz band) i cant find any options.
According to an article in the internet (i cant post any links yet) there should be an option called "Mobile Network" where i can turn the 3G on or off, so im guessing AT&T disabled the option (phone doesn't have any 3G sign on the sign bar at the top just the antenna bars).
Is there any way to Unlock the 3G options on this phone?
Thank you.
Help me out a little with your request. The place to turn on/off data is under cellular in the settings page. However, I haven't found "Mobile Network" on mine. However, I did download HTC Connection Setup which allowed the phone to search for various carriers and automatically set up the connections. That program is in Marketplace under HTC apps.
BTW, is your phone SIM unlocked?
Thank you for answering ...Sure ill help you with what ever you need... we might be able to narrow down my problem... lets see
1. HTC connection: yea i tried the app actually i have it installed on my phone but its giving me a message saying "Carrier doesnt exist in the data base" that i need to go a create apn (isnt that for phone internet). so i cant use the application, our carrier here is called I.C.E.
2.The band Costa Rica is using for 3G is the 850MHz. my SIM card is linked to a GSM account (1900 MHz) but the phone should be able to recognize the band tho, isnt that right?
3.how do i know if my phone is sim lock? i just placed my GSM SIM card inside and its working, do i need to try with a different card?
4. how does 3G works in this phone? is it configurable?
I'm pretty sure you are going to have to configure an APN for it to use 3G. As for band switching, I don't think it's possible with the current interface (at least on AT&T). Perhaps there are some registry entries that we will soon be able to access when some of the WP7 developers make headway, but right now, there is nothing of which I'm aware. If you can call on your network, the phone is already SIM unlocked, so no need to worry there.
I found some nice info about switching 3G or 2G etc... which it helps but i think it didnt work on mine.
Does anyone know how to set the HD7 (or surround) to 3G only?
Dialer> ##3282# Call > Settings > 3G only.
But in my case what i saw after that was that all the antenna bars were gone and then it went into no service then picked up signal again. After checking the settings after dialing again it was set to automatic again and if a switch it to 3G only it does the same thing again.
So im guessing it didnt work, ill try to talk to my carrier and see if we can create an APN to handle the 3G.
Is there a chance that the 3G feature is locked by AT&T?
Thanks for all your help if by any chance you find out something else i will appreciate the help.
Well apparently i got it fixed my phone seems to be working on 3G right now, i have the 3G sign on the top bar.
To make the story short.
I just configured my internet, added the roaming options and then tried again ##3282# only 3G and it worked now its showing 3G next to the antenna bars.
Thank you jwzg for your help.
Can not change the language

Hi. If your SIM card is old (GSM) add APN: icecelular. If your SIM card is new (Kolbi), add APN: kolbi3g

No, you don't have to do any special configuration. I think TMobile bands for 3G are different frequencies from ATT, so sadly, I think you are never going to be able to have 3G connection on your Surround while you are on TMobile. Regards.
mmmmm tmobile used different bands
mmmmm input to sim movistar in htc, rigth in connection setup appers to configuracion of Nicaragua chance to Costa Rica and input sim ice connection don´t exist in data base... :-( mms is not working!!!
Hallo everyone!
I've just bought my Verizon Droid Pro and at first day have big problem with it Maybe someone had similar and can help me.
When my phone is in 3G coverage everything runs OK but if it switches to 2G i'm not able to place any call. When i'm pressing the dialpad i can hear dtmf tones but when i want to connect i can't hear anything or the system reboots. When someone calling me i'm also unable to hear anything. Most interesting is fact when i put the SIM from antoher network problem gone. I not checked every providers but two different sim from T-MOBILE POLAND not working.
I've flashed back to 2.26, 4.68, CM7, 3Ghack and baseband switcher - NO ANY EFFECTS. In any rom cannot place any call in 2G mode
I called Tmobile and they told me there is standard 900mhz coverage the same like in PLUS (another poland provider which runs me without any problems in 2G)
Motorola Service tells me that they are able only to put european software in the phone ?! and US warranty is not working in europe
maybye someone have knowledge about RadioComm software - what can i test to chceck this bug
another question: if i put for example VRZ_XT610_4.6.8_user_signed_1FF.sbf by RSDLite5.6
is my radio settings back to stock or not?
I'm asking because i followed the steps in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22816363
and wondering is these settings permanent or not.
maybye there is another radio file to flash there?
thanks in advance for help
