Notifications bar -- expanding? - Kindle Fire General

On my Droid 2, the notifications bar shows all the icons it can. On the Fire, it only shows the number of notifications. Any ideas on how this can be fixed?

You'll probably have to wait for a custom ROM for that.

That's what I was thinking. It's not a huge issue, though, so... will wait until the roms are stable first.

MIUI for novices

Greetings, I am sure I could discover all about MIUI if I looked hard enough, but I thought it might be useful if we had our own Nexus S place where someone like me who has never used or seen MIUI in action could hear from those with previous experience.
I understand its very different from normal android but in which important ways? Are widgets the same? Is the market the same? Will we still have Voodoo sound and colour? Does the app drawer still apply? You see where I am driving at!
please share knowledge and questions...
I have very limited experience with miui I'll admit but I can answer a few of your questions. Most things are the same however it has its own customer launcher and home replacement for which there is no app drawer. All apps are placed on homescreens for the minuit launcher however you can use adw or lpp and have an app drawer back.
Sent from my MattedBlues CM7 Nexus S from the XDA Premium app.
Thanks man, I have heard many good things about MIUI but I would miss something like Voodoo so much! I mean how awesome is Voodoo sound?!
It does seem MIUI would take some getting used to.

Well its just like any other ROM, kernels will have to be customized for it. I'm sure someone will release a voodoo sound/color equipped kernel for it soon.
Its definitely a switch but one worth giving a shot. I tried it on my Evo but couldn't get Swype working and at the time I was more in love with Swype then I was with any ROM so I gave up after only giving it a few hours. I plan to give it a much more fair chance this time but its a little difficult getting things set up when half of everything is in chinese lol

Lol I assume your chinese comment is sarcasm and I can assure you its usable in chinese. I do not know a single chinese character but for the most part you can work your way through everything. The one thing I'm still looking for is Haptic Feedback because I hate it and its on by default <.<
I personally love MIUI. The lockscreen, when they get it, looks fantastic and nice. The menu screen is extremely different. If you look at the pics you'll see what it looks like. That takes some time getting used. All the apps are on the homescreen now, similar to iOS. You can create folders to organize them. You can also add all the widgets you normally get from the market, on there. The messenger has been modified, it a very good way. It looks really good. Everything else is the same.

From what I understand they don't have any intention of bringing the old lockscreen back. I'm not sure if they will be doing a new one but, again this is my understanding, we're stuck with the AOSP lockscreen.

one thing that strikes me regarding the original MIUI ROM being chinese natively... is that AOS is supposed to be roughly international No?
even if it installs as Chinese, you should be able to go into settings and change it to English?
like when i change English to Spanish and Vice versa in the stock ROM or some other Custom ROMs

MIUI is fully customized. And no this isn't the case, its set to English by default and the MIUI ROM is a hybrid of English and Chinese.
The English language pack is now available (~30MB) in the MIUI thread.
Simply, it is an iOSish Android ROM.

it wasn't that bad. the icons in settings were pretty relevant.
its fine now. just the notification power widgets is still in chinese.
only complaint i really at this point is white background with white text.
will probably go back to CM7 when the next nightly comes. i prefer having all black to maximize super amoled screen

pretty much. but it opens a lot of room for customizablity and eye candy.
my engadget, photobucket and some other apps FC'd on me so i reverted back to CM7. probably going back to it on the next release and see how it is.
for some reason, my ADW EX settings doesn't get restored when im on MIUI but works for CM7 and other 2.3 based roms. weird

Download issue can be solved by switch the download mode to start download under any network.
Open Downloads app -> Press Menu button -> Select the right one to switch to start download under any network
Refer to the MIUI forum, since the new UI is still under development, so the custom lockscreen not integrated yet on the first release
Cant really find the "Downloads app" setting. Have a tip or an image of where u mean?
@ zephiK worked for me with restoring the settings with titanium.

A rom with webtop AND status bar widgets?

Hi there.
New to atrix,I know there are tons of roms outhere, but most of them are somewhat incomplete.
My alltime favourite is Cm,but as far as I understand, there is no webtop there?also, the fingerpint sensor does a bunch of things except unlocking?
I need a rom that contains;
Fingerprint unlock (I just love it ),webtop AND status bar widgets ,like cm7 or something.
Did I get something wrong maybe about Rc cm7?
Any suggestionsm
Ps.
I an unlocked and located in europe.
hard to find this combination... but you can get the status bar widgets from:
- Notification Toggle https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.notificationToggle&feature=related_apps
- Widgetsoid2.x https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jim2&hl=en
try this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1545001 or you can try Nottachttrix. Unfortunately, CM7/CM9/AOSP roms does not support Webtop
If you want Webtop, you can use Nottachtrix 4G or GingerMod. Both pretty nice roms.
Thanks guys,I ll try and see

yes, it's pretty stable but I have battery drain on 1.2.9b
Until now I tried gingermod and topogigi's rom,I like the second one a little better and it also comes from a European rom, wich is said to have a better battery life here in Europe.
The only thing missing there is the screen wake up with the volume rocker...

Good stuff mate!
Question: what happens if you hide the navigation bar? I mean, how did they replace Back - Home - Recent buttons?
Aaand: is there a dark theme built-in by chance?
Thanks!

Yeah. It shows as 7.0 -- all of the specs show up wrong. This is true with prerelease builds on other Huawei phones as well.
Anyway, if you're not convinced, here's notification snoozing and picture-in-picture settings.

I use to be a "gotta have it now" and would flash pretty much any rom that came along, when I had the Dell Streak 5, and the Galaxy Note (1). Since I got the Mate 2, then the 8, then the 9, I haven't flashed anything but OEM official builds, haven't even bothered to root or screw with it.
For me, my experience with Huawei, their roms have been so stable, I haven't had the urge to jack around with it. I don't mind you guys doing it though, makes it easier for us old timers that don't want to bother with it anymore.

Me too. There really isn't anything else for the Mate if you wanted to flash at least officially or on here. But yeah, I can't really think of anything I want that it doesn't already have. Nothing I could really improve. I thought I was all 100% for the Pixel 2 but now I'm thinking Mate 10!

Of course, everything I want but even faster and longer lasting. Less body to screen ratio is always welcome too. Tmobile's new 600 mhz support would also be great.
I would want Wireless charging, then I would upgrade to the Mate 10, if not I will keep my Mate 9.
I would like to get a current Security patch though
@duraaraa
Hi mate,
What is the kernel number, is it still 4.1.18 or it got up to 4.4?
Do you actually feel any real life difference in general at all between Nougat and Oreo?
Do you think that stand up time/drain has improved as to the few wake ups restrictions in Oreo?
Anything significant that you like/hate or is changed?
Thank you for your reporting here!

The kernel version is showing as 3.10.20-20436-468, built on Sep 14. Security patch is September 5. Whether or not it's reported correctly, I don't know.
I'm not really using it as a daily driver, but it does feel a little bit different. Some of it may be because of Android O, some of it may be because of EMUI 6. It seems smoother, but that's so objective.
Drain seems better than before, but I haven't done an actual scientific comparison.
I've not yet found anything major to like or hate.
Some other people are installing this build now, so hopefully they will chime in with their opinions.

Center clock on rooted android 10(stock rom)

Does anyone know of any working mod(magisk, substratum etc.) for OxygenOS 10.5.12 (A10) that can set the clock to the center.
I know it exists for A11 but I had to downgrade because some of the apps I use on the daily were not working properly after rooting.

Yes I have, it's a bit off center. I think it's because I'm using the Notchkiller. I haven't done padding yet. Figured I'll get everything sorted once a status bar hiding mod comes along.

Sadly no official thread yet. I have been watching a couple of other threads that have talks of the same. I'll update here if anything comes out.
I downgraded because I wanted immersive but center clock was not available in A10. That's why I started this thread. But then I figured it was a better compromise to go back to A11.
I've been checking everyday. Really hope it comes out soon.

Thanks for your reply! I downgraded, too and enjoy the full immersion with OOS10 again! I contated a developer and he built me a clock mod for magisk which moves the clock and the notifications to the right of the camera so those don't interfere with it. Just let me know if you're interested in it, this is for the OOS version 10.5.12.IN11BA.
Yes, I saw that thread. I wish it came out earlier. I'll probably downgrade only if I brick again. Right now I am used to not having immersive mode.
