I'm thinking about a white galaxy note. I have found a few places online that sell them but i think that any of the ones that have it in stock at the moment will be the hong Kong version.
What are the implications of buying a hong version samsung andriod phone? Will i run into any issues with regards to software updates or usability of the phone at all or is it literally a different charger and thats it?
Many thanks for your help and advice

Hi all,
I ordered a tab from expansys UK hoping to get the UK model sent here in Japan, but part way through the process my order has been taken over by expansys in Hong Kong and it's starting to sound like they intend to send me a HK model, which I'm not entirely happy about since no doubt it will have some customisations for that reason.
Does anyone here have the HK model tab and if so are there actually any customisations you are aware of?
500 quid is too much to spend on anything that might end up gimped in some way!
Thanks.

When looking for galaxy note in china, I was told in several shops that they sell the china model of note 2 for 5199 RMB but if I want a cheaper one, I can buy the Hong kong version of the note 2 which is about 4300-4700 RMB which is a huge difference. they say that the only difference is the price...
Is there really a HK version?
I actually spent 1 hour checking the device to see if it is fake and couldn't find any clue for this. I own a Note 1 so I think I know what to look for.
Why do you think there is a huge difference price wise?
Is it safe to buy this "HK" version?
Please advice ASAP
Thanks in advance
i have just ordered a note3 but when i watched the videos of the phone booting up it says SM-N9000Q. I checked the sammobile but there is no firmware or no model like that. Is this only for Turkey like Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 N8005?
In the other hand is this a bad or good thing to have N9000Q?
Does anyone know something about this model? what is the differences from N900?
Thanks,

only thing that i really want to know is shall i cancel my order and order a SM-N9000?
it depends... first of all what do you expect? n9000q has a sticker on the box stating it is aimed to use in several European countries but as far as we read it seems like they sell it only at Turkey. so probably this means we will get updates later then other models and probably they will stop updating device while others got their updates. we have n8005 and n7000 as an example (n8005 fits this situation more and i don't have n7100 so don't know what is going on about it).
i wish samsung will correct this in note 3 but this is just a wish and if they don't.... for most this will not be a problem because they will never know if there is an update that their model haven't received and for some it again will not be a problem because they will root and install custom roms. others will have to live with it or sell the phone early then they planned to.
In my experience, a real Samsung device will have the model # as the first few characters of the baseband, am I right or wrong?
My question is about determining fakes: Will a fake device have a baseband set up to look like a real Samsung baseband or will the fake device always have a baseband that looks nothing like a Samsung version?
I saw this webpage about fakes appearing in Thailand: http://www.soyacincau.com/2014/04/2...d-in-bangkok-and-it-looks-like-the-real-deal/. The basband shown in the photos looks nothing like anything I've ever seen on a Samsung device. I was just wondering if that holds true for all fakes - basically, would checking the baseband be the absolute fool-proof way to determine a fake device?
I live in Vietnam and Samsung makes their phones here. I see mobile store buying parts (still the exact parts from official phones) from unofficial sources, put it together and copy the official imei of an official phone to cheat the customers. Then they put them in boxes with seal and papers look exactly like a new phone...Those Samsung phones (most popular is note2 s4 note3 s5) works like **** and often have China battery and other parts.
The stores often tell the customers that those phone is carried from abroad and sell it at a cheaper price. (I bought mine at Samsung showroom for 800$ and they sell theirs for 600$)
It's best to buy from certified retailers.

Hello, so I'm ready to upgrade my Galaxy 5 and have been looking on ebay for a deal. I see some new phones that ship from China and/or Hong Kong that appear to be a good deal. Brand new, AT&T Galaxy S7 SM-G930A phone for $360. What concerns me is the seller is offering this phone in silver and white, in addition to the more typical black or gold. Was the AT&T Galaxy S7 ever produced in white or silver? I've searched, and so far I can't find this!!! I'm just trying to determine whether the phones are clones!!!!
Thanks in advance for any help provided.
Most likely clones. Not that I saw. It was black or gold at two stores I visited. Don't do it.
