Just got a few questions about doing this:
1. How does the SD card work, is it similar to how the samsung focus does it (shows up in zune as one big volume, cannot unmount, and it is tied to your phone) ?
2. Does the marketplace and apps downloaded from marketplace work ?
3. The buttons: HD2 has accept/home/windows/back/deny buttons; Does the home button become search, or does it re-map the buttons so it follows the order of back/windows/search ? What about the accept and deny buttons, do th ose still work in wp7 ?
4. SIM Unlocking: Let's say you have a T-Mobile HD2, and you unlock it to use on a different carrier. After all the rom stuff, android, wm, etc, does it stay unlocked through all of it ?
5. Dual/triple/quad/??? booting: Possible ?
6. Dev unlock: I can still sideload my stuff like a normal windows phone, right ?
Thanks !

2. Does the marketplace and apps downloaded from marketplace work ? yes, but you need to sign up with your live-id for sure
3. The buttons: HD2 has accept/home/windows/back/deny buttons; Does the home button become search, or does it re-map the buttons so it follows the order of back/windows/search ? What about the accept and deny buttons, do th ose still work in wp7 ? this depends on rom,but there are xap's around to change the order, too. deny button becoms power button usually and accept button is voicedial / camerabutton mostly

Yes. You'll need an activation key for WP7 in order to login with your Live ID. It's easy to do. Look at this thread. Those of us who've done it have all had good experiences:

Anyone want to try?
Does this replace Windows Mobile or run along side of it? If it replaces it, anybody know of an Windows Mobile 6.1 Stock Sprint ROM?
you do know that in Rom Development there is a whole 4,000 odd posts about this and its development? have a look here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=402002
and no it doesn't replace windows what it does it using haret it boot loads linux and effectively runs android as if it were its stock rom, but doesn't delete WinMo, and its not an emulator. see the thread above for more details.
New ?

HI!
I've searched without luck for month now: I've got an DIAM300 and i could not get to startup any android version (hanging on glowing android).
Does anyone know the difference between diam100,110,500 and my diam 300??
answer in diam forum was "sorry, but you've the second person i've met who owns an diam300"
My diam300 is an HTC diamond german O2 version (round corners on cover)
Thanks for help!
Good news ! It can call
but the battery lost very fast

I used that download and it does not work for me have you changed anything or just download, unpack, copy to the phone and run haret.exe?
for me it always "hangs" at:
[ xxx.xxxxxx] msmfb_start_dma 90.yyy ms vsync request
the xxx.xxxxx is counting and the yyy is changing but "random" ..
I didn't change anything, it works fine but when I lock the screen I must reset the phone because I can't unlock it in Android.

Hi all,
I installed android package, few minutes ago, and it works fine.
Unfortunately, usage is little bit difficult beacuse of the missing application, or not manageable. Using the media player or during a phone call, it is not possible to listen audio with the headphones?
It is possible to install usefull application as TomTom?

audio support is not complete on most devices. Not managed to boot properly into diamond version yet because of same issue as mentioned above. suggest trying the other zImage, it might work better.
your usual apps are written for windows mobile....you are no longer using windows mobile, you are using android. If TomTom write an android version then maybe you can run it....until then, no.
Just downloaded and installed Android for HTC Touch Pro and my Touch Pro boot succesfully. I managed to get to the "SIM card is locked" screen, however when i enter my PIN code i get "Incorrect PIN code. I know i have entered the correct PIN code.
Anybode else experienced this or have a suggestion what i could do.
Thanks
Nevermind, i found the solution at Connect-UTB's forum:
Q: When launching Android, it asks for my PIN-code, but it doesnt accept the one i type in!
A: You have to disable the PIN-Code authentication in Windows Mobile before booting up Android.
Got a Solution in the extracted folder there is the kernel _old rename it
Hi -
I've had my HTC HD2 for a few days now, and I'll be putting my sim card in and switching to full use from tomorrow. My network is Vodafone UK. I just had a few questions and would really appreciate if someone could answer? I have already got through the main stickies and done some tweaks by the way.
1. Vodafone haven't released any official updates for the firmware themselves, and HTC doesn't allow Vodafone UK users to download them of their own website (other than hotfixes). So I just wanted to know, what am I missing out on by being stuck on the original firmware that the phone came with? DO the official updates make a big difference?
2. Auto-rotate seems to only work on some applications. Can I get it working on the home screen and ALL applications?
3. What can I do to improve my typing? I've set it to T9 and I'm slowly adjusting to it but it's still quite slow. Also, when is there anyway to automatically improve grammar? For example when I start sentences they do not automatically start with a capital letter and I have to do that manually...
4. I get an error with the camera/camcorder if Opera 10 Beta is installed. The camera will only work when it's uninstalled. Is there anything I can do to get around this?
5. Any must-have applications/games?
6. Is there anyway I can edit the registry on the HD2 through my PC?
Thank you!
I think if you search ... you will get the answer for most of your questions
1. Official Updates Makes the operating system more stable.... i upgraded to 1.48 and its much more stable.
2. you can add almost all programs to autorotate using BSB tweak (except home screen)
3. Typing is a universal problem ... search and you will find several topics and tweaks
4. Havent tried opera 10 yet... as it doesnt support pinch to zoom (multitouch)...
5. Must have apps (Skyfire.. wayyyyy faster than opera)
must have games (experiment 13, and xtract) both available to download on xda...

Thanks for the quick reply.
1. Do you know if there's anyway for me to get around the Vodafone block and upgrade then?
Also I can't find the setting to disable vibration while typing. Any ideas?
And also, any answer to question 6 which I just added?
Thanks

2. Home screen? No. Applications? Yes.
Refer to tips thread:

3. There are tips in the above thread. Phone will auto-capitalize after a full stop. Pressing space 2 times will put a . and then a space.

1.Yes. Gold card. I haven't done it, but browse this forum, there are plenty instructions.
2.Start button > Settings > Personalize (1st option) > Vibration
Translated from PT menus so names might not be accurate.

You will loose all data. Backup first.
There are ROMs for all tastes. Like picking a wallpaper, you must choose one yourself.
My advice would be, install the HTC original ROM (1.48).

Thank you. What is the recommended way of backing up before updating ROM?
Also, will updating to the official ROM include the radio ROM too or would I have to do that separately?
And finally... how would I download the official ROM still, even after gold card, surely the phone would still have a Vodafone serial number?
The Radio is probably not included in the rom.
You can download the rom from HTC site.
Ways to backup? Active Sync, MyPhone, GMail, etc (I use gmail for contacts and calendar for e.g. and do the rest by hand)

I trully hope it lives up to my hopes for it.
Can anyone help me out, though. What ROM should I flash on it? I still want Copilot, would like the home screens in landscape also if possible. Any ideas?
Thanks and I look forward to lots of great help from this forum, like I got from this great site for all my other phones! Well done all you guys that work so hard so that dumba** like me can get my phones the way I want them!!!

I can't help with the other things you request (I'm scared of going away from standard as I'm not confident in all this modification stuff!), but you can look for the NaviPanel.exe progam in the Windows folder of your phone. Click and hold on it, select copy, then navigate from the Windows folder to Windows/Start Menu/Programs and tap the menu soft button, select edit>paste shortcut (and rename if required). This should appear in your Start Menu now. You can the add it to a quick link (it hasn't got an icon though).
ROM 1.66
Rom 1.66 is the ROM to go...
re: the navipanel - bizarrely, mine decided to switch on navipanel by itself when I mounted the phone on one of the cheapo mounting kits from ebay - I've already modded my dashboard for my Garmin, which got power through mini USB (routed the cables behind the dash and out into a cubby) - so instead of pulingl the dash apart again I'm using a mini-to-micro adapter (99p off ebay or something).
My only guess is there's something special about the Garmin lead that tells the HD2 it's getting a little something more than just 12v - and the phone thinks it's the official car kit - because it doesn't happen when I just use the crappy adapter that came with the cheapo mounting kit.
Having said all that, I don't actually like navipanel cos it seems to disable the phone buttons - home key etc - presumably to stop you fiddling with the phone functions when you should be concentrating on the road - but that annoys the wife, who likes to control the music on long journeys...
Thanks
Thanks guys. ROM 1.66 is an HTC ROM right? NOT a custom?

Hi,
Why does the HTC web site tell me the ROM update is not for my device?
S/N is correct.
Is there another way to get 1.66

It means you have a carrier locked device, (example tmobile) so the standard HTC webpage wont let you download, you techincally need to wait for your provider to issue an update, ((buut dont hold your breath for tmo and o2,,,))). This has been covered a thousand times, go search for and read up on HSPL in the rom development section

Sorry but I think you have to call Microsoft. I don't think it is any other way. Just call Microsoft and tell them you installed Windows Phone to you HTC HD2 and you need an activation key. They will ask your name, phone number, and your e-mail. Give them this info and they will give you a activation key.

well actually I would call them after You flash WP7 to your HD2 cause I don't really know what the whole process involves of entering the activation key being as I have never done it myself cause I have not flashed WP7 to my HD2. But it is all over XDA and other sites that talk about the HD2 that you have to call to get the activation Key to enable cloud services like market places and several other features of WP7.being that you may have to enter the information to your HD2 as you talk to them on the phone I would flash WP7 first then call. But I have read MULTIPLE POST by users that they called and got the activation key with no problems. I think this is because WP7 is a Microsft product and even though the HD2 is not an official WP7 device, they still have to give the key because you can not fully us the product with out it.
Edit: I toke a look at the Windows Phone development section and found this "[Confirmed working]HowTo actvate your wp7/HD2 Live services". I think you Might find this very usefull.

Like the post above me says i installed it first than set up my internet connection (important if not activation will fail) if you had to leave the activation window to set up internet you will get it again when setting up your live account in the email box. the person on the other end of the chat box will be in a hurry make sure you keep him/her on saying you want to make sure everything works right and he has to also know you have successfully activated or he may just decline that key and remember you cant have 2 keys on live at the same time so do not do it it will cut one or maby both off
remember do not thank me i just re direct other noobs like me(semi noob) i do read alot tho Thank every one here who takes time to write these guides and make programs an kernels to flash our phones
wm 7 sucks
I second that

i know
it it alright and the only reason i have it is to use netflix and it is on my second hd2 which dual boots android too i would not want to use it as my main phone whatsoever if android was secure enough or could spoof my hd2 to one of the secure androids that come with netflix i would be happy and not think of winmo again i do say wm7 is pretty smooth though from what i have used
just email microsoft customer service, I got my code in this way

Well your opinion "sucks" mainly because there is no such thing as WM7, Its WP7 (Windows Phone 7), which is a completley different OS to Windows Mobile.
@ OP
Go into the HD2 WP7 forum, there is plenty of topics on activation. You can do it via email or chat not just phone.
Hello everyone,
I searched the evening on XDA forum trying to find out what's the problem.
I activated WP7 on my HD2, I also got the key from Microsoft.
I read chevron etc. But still Marketplace says not yet available in your country/region.
Is here a solution for already?
Regards Martijn
you should search the forum.
anyways, set all language options to English US, reboot, then access marketplace again. Thats the only way.
Well, that doesn't work neither.
Can it be that when I run ChevronWP7.exe it immediately said relock instead of unlock?
Thanks anyway!

Nope, chevron should not have any effect on marketpace...
Did you get the correct code from microsoft? are you able to access live services?
eh, yes. Hotmail (email/calender/contacts) are syncing perfectly. Facebook connector is also working. Zune is working.
Btw I installed this rom:
[12.03.2011][ROM] HD2 WP7 Build 7.7008.0 frantic V 1.2
Getting the marketplace to work in a yet-to-be-launched country is tricky. However, the solution is threefold:
1. On http://account.live.com : Make sure the location of your Live ID is set to USA/UK/France/Whatever (you might need to create a new ID for this - I had too);
2. On your device: Set the device locale to match the one of your Live ID via settings -> Region & Language (the region format option can be set to Dutch; browser & search language are useless when set to Dutch (Bing doesn't support us yet), so set it to match your Live ID);
3. Optional on your computer: Change the system locale of your Computer OS (Windows / Mac) to match your Live ID. This is not necessary, but allows you to use the Marketplace in the Zune software.
Hope this helps. If not, do not hesitate to use the search function and then post a topic
Chs
__edit__
For clarification:
Chevron should not interfere with the marketplace.
Activating your WP7 device only enables the Marketplace, xBox Live, and Find my Phone (and also phone update, but that doesn't work for the HD2)
Thanks for your explanation.
I'll give it a try tonight and let you know.
Regards
