Hi.
This is my first post and my first problem xDD.
I was using Quickpic to open pics. I used to hide some folders of aplications because i wanted to see only my own albums. Everything was fine till yesterday. Suddenly no pics appear in the device when i use any photo app. But if i use a file manager app, there they are... And most strange thing is that when i choose one pic of the device and choose the app to open it, it takes a lot of time to open. Dont care the program i use. Dont care the format of the pic. Dont care the ubication of the pic. It takes about ten seconds to open it.
I dont know what to do.
I have a rom installed (Criskelo 30; with the 25 version i had the same problem).
I de-installed all apps of pics except the Gallery. I cleanned cache and data with Titanium. I made wipe cache and wipe Dalvik.
Can someone help me?
Thx.

Solved.
Perhaps i made something to the photo files, that changed the attributes, but i found an option using File Expert, that let me "mark as initial position" all the files. After this, all my pics appeared in the photo viewers i use.
Byeeee.

My gallery worked fine when I had CM6 on my G2.
I have tried CM7 RC1, #7, and #32 or something like that and my gallery doesn't work for any of them.
By doesn't work I mean it fails to scan for media, and there are no photos in the gallery.
I have tried all the media scanners and rescanners on the Market, but they all stop scanning after 1 second, and does not do anything.
Also, when I browse for a picture via file manager and click on it, it takes forever to load, but when it does load, it first shows this weird wallpaper that is from the Cyanogen wallpaper pack for a brief half second then shows the picture i clicked on.
I don't know what's going on. This has been driving me INSANE. All I want to do is just to be able to set my wallpapers. I don't know how to do it without gallery.
Any help at all?
Thanks!
EDIT: "Are you certain that you don't have a file named ".nomedia" (the "." at the start makes it a HIDDEN file) in the directories with the media to scan?"
Yes I am certain I don't have that .nomedia in the directories of my photos.
EDIT EDIT: There was a .nomedia in the root directory of my sdcard so that is why it won't scan ANY folders. Thanks!

mate, I use 3D Gallery instead of the stock. not only will it scan and place in folders, it'll also pull your online Picasa pics. i used it on my stock Froyo (even though froyo uses a different version.. I found 3d gallery was actually the stock Eclair gallery) and I use it now on my CM7 Desire nightly (bravo11). works like a charm.
I use the one that came with ROM. Works great.

The one that came with the wrong doesn't work. And the 3D gallery doesn't work either. It says There are no items in your collection.
Reflash the nightly build. what build are you on?

I reflashed like 4 different ones. right now i'm back to RC1.
Thats weird. Perhaps something didnt wipe right?
Try QuickPic in the market. I use it alot now.
I wipe dalvic cache and perform a factory reset via CWM 3.0 each time i flash.
Quickpic says pictures not found. Is your SDcard mounted? And that made me think. Could it be something wrong with my SDcard? I mean, I can access stuff in it via Root Explorer...

Hello All,
I been having problems with my Gallery photos. It seems like they disappear or does not want to show as if it is corrupted. Photos that are saved on computer and moved to my SD card most of the show up and the ones that will not show up is there when i select it in the gallery (but not show up as an icon).
But recent photos taken with nexus camera will show up but then a day or so it will disappear (icon will not show up in gallery) and when i click on the blank icon it will not show up at all (as if it is corrupted). As soon as I take a picture with the nexus camera I can go to the gallery and select it and click on it to enlarge the picture but its after a day or so it disappears.
So I drag the missing pictures to my desktop on my laptop and it says picture can not be shown. What happen to my recent photos taken with my camera phone? Please help.
I have tried killing the gallery app and still no luck and also restarting the phone.
thanks

Not sure if this is against the rules to bring up an old thread but.. atleast i used the search function!
Im having this problem on my Galaxy S2.. and... is it sure that theres a problem in the internal sdcard?
Can it not be fixed by some different kind of reformat or something?
Or do i just need to go somewhere and have the sdcard replaced.
Try replacing your SD card? that at least eliminates one possibility.

this really isn't the right section for this, u guys gotta stop posting such stuff in dev section. nways, y don't u try mounting the card on pc and do a search with "blogger" as a keyword, just sayin..
If you try disconnetting from internet, you'll notice that those images can't be showed properly. That means that they aren't on the sdcard, but they can be found in your picasa album, in this case, named Blogger. Just log into your web picasa album and delete them.

Thanks a million you just saved me with your reply
This is very simple to do but not anybody knows how...
Removing memory will somehow load it back if u reboot (i think)
The right method is go to setting>application>manage applications>gallery...then simply tap on clear data, it will only come back if u sync picasa on setting>account & sync>your google acc...there's picasa sync option ib there...and it will sync again when u install new rom...
OK i have looked everywhere and tried every "solution" i have seen. hopefully XDA can help...whenever i open up my gallery and go to All tab for my pictures, there are my regular pictures there but also a whole bunch of grey boxes. when i select them i dont have the option to delete them and its driving me crazy. went to the picasa web app and deleted all my empty albums, cleared the cache from my gallery app and even tried doing it from the desktop application and they are still there. any help would be greatly appreciated. oh any btw phone is completely stock, unrooted.
This is not an ideal solution, but it's what I've done. For me, the gallery was freezing, or at least lagging for 5 or 10 seconds when I'd try to select an album.
My fix, if you can call it that, was to stop using gallery, and use something called QuickPic instead. It's basically the same thing. It also makes it very easy to exclude or include folders.
Yea I was using quickpic on my last phone and just havent installed it yet on this one. Still would like the gallery to function properly though.

My gallery shows a bunch of "broken pics", and quick pic shows a bunch of grey boxes. Anyone know of a solution?

Could these be pics that were deleted that gallery thinks are still there?
Have you tried a reboot? Clearing data and cache for gallery app?
What mods have you done?
Not sure what gallery thinks they are. Ive deleted everything thats unwanted in picasa but there is still a little picasa icon next to the empty albums. No mods done at all

Did you clear cache and data from gallery app?

How about some screenshots so we can see what is going on? I find that the newest ROMs based on the newest International firmware, fixes all of the gallery stutter and lag as well.
Had this posted ina thread in general nut this is a more appropriate spot.
That said...Does anyone have gallery issues when trying to attach a pic on an email or mms...or even here on xda?
The gallery opens no prob but when I click on an album which has the pic I want all the albums names disappear. Then it just hangs like that for a minute or so then the chosen gallery opens.
Its really annoying and my s3,s4 and note 2 do not do this.
Thanks for any input.

Why not just use quickpic?
That and fishbowl work fine but I prefer the stock gallery.plus a phone like this should not do that you should be able to use the stock applications without any issues.

Same Problem
I have the exact same issue.
* I turned of all sync.
* I rebooted in recovery mode. I wiped data/factory reset, and I also wiped cache.
I'm still having the same problem!!! everything else works just fine, but this problem is killing me :crying: :crying: :crying:
It does it for me on Whatsapp. For some reason I can't select Quickpic there. (One of the many, many, many flaws of Whatsapp). Select 'send picture', Gallery opens, Gallery freezes, Whatsapp crashes.
If I disable Gallery, I can't share anything from within Whatsapp. Highly annoying.
I'm finding a lot of app conflicts period. I don't usually need to do data/factory resets, but I've had to already with this phone and did a cache wipe and I've only had it a week. Love it anyway, though.
FWIW I haven't had any stock gallery issues.
