Just installed ACS ICS v5 and $#@% thing won't accept the password I entered for lock screen. Is there any way to get around this short of re-flashing the ROM? Have tried over 50 times hoping I'd get some other option but I get nothing, just keeps asking me to re-enter the password when I know I am entering the right one. Anyone have any suggestions??
1. Not the rom
2. Wipe data

Not the rom. Operator error.

My rom would NOT change the user password. If you get it wrong enought you can sign in to Google and it will unlock

My friends Droid x is rooted and he set up a pass lock on it but he has since forgotten it. Without having a custom Rom I believe it's possible to sign in your gmail account in order to unlock the screen however there isn't an option to do so. Is there a way to bypass this or is the only other option to boot into recovery and start all over? Any help would be appreciated.

Restore a backup? Or adb into the phone and reflash the current custom ROM.

Agreed with droid user...there is a app that you can use from adb to install it and it will bypass the lockscreen once you reboot it

I'm sorry but what's adb? How would you do that? Link to a tutorial?

If you keep trying random pins, it'll eventually give you the option to sign in with your Google account if you get it wrong enough times

Having the same problem here.... nothing seems to fix this! Everything else works!
Same here. Also tried from different roms (orange glacier, cm7, royal ginger, and orange sense, and stock). Hopefully just updating the system or something.

If he's having trouble downloading apps I'm pretty sure he's already flashed the gapps.. but to the OP what message is it giving? Not in the toolbar but when you click on the toolbar notification it should take you to the market and give you more info as to why

Hmm is it just saying download unsuccessful? No error message or anything? If so could you get a logcat for whenever you try to download?
Sent from my HTC Glaciee using XDA Premium App
well, dunno how to get a log cat, and if its something that i need to download from the market that isnt happening. ive gotten it to download "most" of my apps a few times, other times it wont download anything at all. and by most i mean right when im done flashing it will try and auto download, and even though it gets most of them for every single one it pops up on the status bar saying it didnt.
A lot of people suggest clearing market and although this didnt work for me (I didnt wait a day like rockstar did) changing gmail did so the problem must be pretty simple . something to do with market not recognising gmail account or something. Unfortunately tou cant remove gmail without reset but still good to know there is a last resort.
edit: reflashed rom to see cos even though working with new gmail "my apps" obviously gone. Anyway same prob but I then cleared cache and data reset and all now ok with original gmail.
i'm hitting the same problem
it started last night after doing a Factory Data Reset.
at first everything was going pretty smooth but then the market downloads started to hang, eventually leading to a series of "download was unsuccessful, please try again." to pop up across the top of the screen.
each attempt I get the same problem, after selecting what to download from the market, the series of notifications goes as -
POP UP "your item will be downloaded"
BUT no download icon appears
EVENTUALLY "download was unsuccessful, please try again."
I've tried clearing the Markets cache and GMails (per another thread I saw) but still didn't work
the fails seem directly linked to the locally installed market on my phone since I have success installing from the market to my phone when on a computer, also the Amazon App store doesn't seem to have this issue either.
The phone wasn't rooted prior to the factory reset (and it's still not)
phone info:
Droid X
4.5.596
on verizon
vers 2.3.3
kernel 2.6.32.9
build 4.5..1
thanks ahead of time!
My freind doesnt remember his gesture on his X8 how to fix this?
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
most likely you wasn't gonna get a reply with such post because the title of the thread isn't clear and you didn't tell the problem in detail...
but assuming you're trying to ask about lock pattern ??
if this is the case so you have to enter secret question's answer or / and your gmail ID password to unlock phone...
1. Change the name of your thread.
2. Try to do factory reset. Here is the link with explanation. Probably it's the best solution (he'll lose all his phone data), but I might be wrong.
change the name of the thread please ?
Dude I can try and help you if you explained this in deatail cuz there are many gestures we could think about and about 500 of em would probaly be wrong

If he's using stock ROM...SEUS (too bad)
If a custom ROM is installed, pull out the battery, enter xRecovery and restore a backup (if he did a recent backup), else, full wipe.

I have a droid x flashed to metropcs. If i change the rom will it remove the flash on my phone?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Help please!!!!
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I do believe so. I was looking into flashing one of my X's to Cricket and it seems that a custom startup script needs to be setup to make it reflash on every boot as it is lost on power off.
I would hold off until someone more savvy to this responds.
But if I were to guess, you would lose it.

You could always be on the safe side and sbf...

No it will not unless you sbf or use an AIO. I am on cricket network and I flash custom roms all day. The only thing I have to do is setup internet and Mms. If your not familiar with setting anything up after a flash I wouldn't flash a new rom until you find out more about it. I believe metro doesn't use proxy so all you would have to do is flash a rom and use endokis mms fix found in the Eris forums. Sorry I can't help u out any further tho. Good luck....

Try deleting data and cache in recovery and reinstalling ROM or test a different ROM
