The Ultimate Galaxy Note - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

This is just a video I created to really show off a fully customised galaxy note. Link it to your friends (including iphone lovers) and spread the word about this crazy ass device!

Nice video man, it's like a documentary of the phone. I like it, it's better than those other generic reviews

Nice vid. Now you have to tell us how you got the 3d user interface on there, and about the programs you're running on it to make those customizations.

It's Just the stock app called 'photo editor' it should come with the phablet.

Great Video.

Great video James, you have an artistic flair, very nice...
Brian

You may use Go Launcher which supports 3D carousel movement of screens. Just an optional good launcher.

Freaking cool bro.from a full charge to completely drain stage, how long can your battery last? And did you use set CPU? Its fast and smooth as butter.can't wait for your installation procedures.keep it flowing mate..

Cheers man! Battery life varies heaps. Strangley, browsing the web probably takes the most and gaming is a relatively small drain. In standby ~1 % per 6 hours or more. so that's insane but for heavy use probably 12-14 hours? moderate use 1 -2 days at an absolute stretch..
I do use ADW EX with a few theme plug ins etc (i'll post a full tutorial soon) Cheers for watching!

I really enjoyed watching that. Artistic and the best I've seen!

Very nice
Thanks man.

Excellent video. Looking forward to the tute.
One bit of hopefully constructive criticism for you though - you really need to used a tripod for your video recording device. Shaky handcam makes it look less professional and detracts from what you are trying to show off because it cant keep focus quickly enough for all the small movements you are making.

Great Video and Fantastic UI

I think that's intentional.
Great video, also looking forward to the tutorial!

Loving this video and what you've done with your g-note!!!
Any time-scales on when you'll have the tutorial ready?

Cool Dude!
I'm wondering what version of MultiPicture Live Wallpaper do u use, cuz every version that i tried on my HD2 and now on my Note it's loading when i unloock the phone.
Tnx for the answer.

Excellent video. But you do need to make that cam less shaky... I'd advice, in case you want to keep the video "in-motion", is that you reseat the cellphone between scenes, change into portrait and landscape, isntead of allowing it to be shaky. Very artistic tough, very creative, and quite thorough.
BTW, it's been reasonably stablished by users in this forum that browinsg eats your battery because of the white backgroud. The opera browser (and perhaps others) have options to change default background color, just like the "kindle" app does. That extends battery greatly. Wi-fi is also a culprit here, so keep it in 3g.

Is there footage of evo's homescreen running at +50fps?

I would absolutely love to see some footage of the evo running at 50 or 60 fps. Not so much the test screen but just navigating through the homescreens would be perfect. If anyone has a video camera and wants to film their evo or knows where i can see some footage please send it my way. Thanks to all of you who have been unlocking the potential of this phone!
I still don't have an evo but will be buying one on friday and this would help to win me over 100%.
Thanks!
Edit: So I've seen a few videos and the smoothness and reaction timing of the uncapped evo is wonderful. I can only assume that the performance and stability will increase as time goes on.
If anyone has anymore footage of their uncapped homescreens and menus let's post em here. Thanks everyone!
Coming from an iphone, the 30 fps really hasn't annoyed me too much. It annoys me that the droid x has it and HTC can't get a straight answer out about it, but overall, it's still better than my iphone - not as clean or polished, but better.
Go get it!
Yeah i've pretty much made my decision that I will be getting it. I would just love to see some footage of the homescreen at +30fps.
footage? go look at the novatek screen thread, there's plenty of proof there
well there are plenty of screen shots of the bench mark testing but no footage of homescreen navigation that i know of

I can shoot some of my Epson home screen at 30 fps with my iphone, if you'd like, but I think the reason why there is no actual video proof is because most video cameras only shoot at 30fps, so it'd not going to make any difference on video.
Yeah! if you could shoot that footage and then upload to youtube or something that would be awesome. Even youtube videos of the stock evo homescreen shows some lag so i think i would be able to notice a difference if I saw footage of evo uncapped.
Thanks!

Oh, well mine is capped. I don't want to bump the refresh rate up just to make it look slightly smoother. I've played with other android phones before and the evo is 100x better. I would have the new iphone 4 if the evo hadn't come out, plus I get 23% off out monthly sprint bill, so that helped, too. Haha.
The all apps menu in list view is lightly laggy right after you bring it out of sleep, but it's really quite smooth after a few seconds. I'm running fresh 5.3, too, which helped quite a bit, and I have a live wallpaper running, too.

I don't have any footage, there is plenty though but I just did the hack to my EVO and I'm running around 46 FPS stable and the home screens are SMOOTH as hell.
Even though it's a "dirty" hack as they put it, my god it works nicely.
Too bad it doesnt speed up Divx videos though!

Thanks for the lead! Performance looks amazing. I love modding and tweeking devices so it looks like i'll have a lot of fun with this evo.
If you're looking for something a little more recent, I recorded a video today demonstrating the smoothness of the Evo once the frame cap has been removed. What makes my video sorta unique is that I first show how responsive it is before the kernel kicks in; afterward, I cycle my screen and show the home screen stuff once the cap is disabled.
Big thanks to all the developers who made this possible.

Thankyou for posting that. The video shows a definite increase in smoothness and reaction time. I'm sold. Getting one on friday. If anymore videos become available put them on this thread. I think it's valuable to see the real world practical advantage of using the modified kernel. Again, many thanks goes to the developers and to their hard work.

Yeah, it's Fresh 1.0 with the Fresh Toast Kernel available through Fresh updater. Since toast is responsible for bringing it to the updater, I'm assuming it's the godmode kernel.
Everything works fine, I'm usually in the 50-52 fps range. However, there is a noticeable amount of tearing when you're scrolling with the phone in landscape mode.
So all I have to do is flash fresh 1.0 and that includes the godmode kernel ?

My 1st 38 hours lol

I picked this up yesterday so thought id share what I think about it ill try and give some structure to this but will end up waffling.
Feel of the phone: the feel of the phone is solid id say it feels way better then the s1 no where near as slippy or creaks as much. The textured back actually helps but the body definetly could do with being thicker... Just gives me an excuse for a bigger battery . If you have small hands like myself then using the phone one handed becomes difficult especially going for the notification bar or an app thats in the top left or right corner.
Call quality etc etc brilliant... turning the messaging app sideways changes the interface where you can scroll through all your different threads and view whats been said in each which I mentioned because its ingenious. I can't remember whether s1 did that :-\ .
The screen... Where to begin lol. Okay well remember when you went from lcd to super amoled.... The change to the + isn't as drastic but definetly noticeable. Not as blurry with text and brilliant colors obvs... The screen actually feels so smooth lol I dont know if its because its new but it feels like silk.
Music playback is brilliant and once youve downloaded power amp player or similar the s2 is incredible for music playback clear and loud. It plays everything In my library which has an array of formats so thats good news.
Camera I haven't used much to be fair... But im thankful for the flash handy as a light more then anything.
Touch wiz 4... Brilliant so integrated and together not laggy and actually looks brilliant... I actually havent changed the launcher more then satisfied with it. The phone has not stalled on me yet. The s1 was terrible for that straight out the box but this is the complete opposite functionality out the box definetly 10 out if 10 should be a relief for those who had bad experiences with the s1. It has loads of nifty features that you find by accident lol and then spend 10 mins looking for more.
Gps... fixed and works perfect... thats the honest truth lol.
Battery life... I'm definetly a fidgety son of a... so my phone barely gets put down texting calling browsing... Then browsing the same thing again lol this phone holds its own definetly brilliant battery life after I get used to owning an s2 it will definetly last a day... Atm im pulling it out my pocket every 30 seconds.
The browser is super slick on the s2 will give desktops a run for their money... Flash support is flawless... I wont mention what site I used for it though lol. There seems to be no problem downloading files like there used to be on s1.
I think thats about it.
Sorry for any idiosyncrasies or for any thing used in the wrong context
Ive seen a few posts in other threads about the head set quality... Personally the head phones supplied in the box are great they cancel noise out almost completely. if your an audiophile they should be good enough.

Good info man - Definitely helps sway me even closer to buying one. Let me ask this: how does the battery life compare to another device? For me, that's a better comparison as I get 2-3 days battery life on my Nexus One because of my usage. Does the battery double the Galaxy 1? Triple?
Thanks!
Galaxy 1 doing the same thing would not last me a day. Im geussing this will easily...

HTC Zoe - Thoughts?

When I first heard about Zoe, I thought that it would simply take a few photos and a 3 second video whenever you take a picture. I also thought that it couldn't be turned off.
That was really putting me off because it would take way too much memory storing Zoe's all the time.
My mind changed, however, when I saw the following video -
It shows that it can be turned on and off at will and it shows a few more of the video editing that can be done natively rather than needing to download a separate app.
What are your thoughts on Zoe? Is it a good integration? Do you think you'll use it a lot? What do you think could be added to Zoe to make it better?
i didn't know Zoe did all of that which was showed in the video. Might be a neat little feature once you get the hang of it
I can see myself using and enjoying Zoe a lot, it's a really interesting and useful software IMO.

I agree, this time, HTC has included a bunch of useful softwares too
I'm only worried about how much storage space will take having all that.
Got to use the device the other day and I must say the Zoe feature does have a wow factor we took a few Zoe snaps and the displayed on a reel and it did look incredibly impressive. I would think the novelty would wear off eventually but im still going for it

Thank you for posting this video. Prior to seeing it, I was rather meh about the HTC One. Now that I see all of the photo editing functions brought on by the HTC Zoe feature, I will definitely be picking this phone up immediately. The three second clip itself I am not too interested in, but all of the abilities to manipulate photographs (sequence/touch-ups/removal) thanks to the additional frames provided by HTC Zoe makes for a wonderful experience to be had.

I'm not too keen on the 3 second clip either but perhaps we will be able to disable that bit but still have all the other useful features which Zoe is packed with. I haven't had a chance to test the One yet so I can't be certain about it yet though.
The sequence and removals will definitely be ideal though because the sequence will be perfect when I'm BMXing (just like it shows in the video) and removals are perfect for pictures being taken in a crowded public place.

From looking through this thread and the stock recovery thread (in development section), dev support really won't be a problem and will likely get root and custom ROMs available fairly quickly.
Anyone really tested this out yet? I know the One is already available in some countries, so hopefully some testers are around

I have a One, and have been taking a few Zoes.
One thing you need to know is that they will eat up space fast. Each Zoe stores 20 full 4MP frames, plus an mp4 video with audio, for a total of about 36MB for each Zoe.
The highlight video is neat but a little buggy. The filter for selecting which photos of an event are to be included doesn't work, so if you only want a subset you have to copy the subset to another event (gee, even more space eaten) as a workaround until HTC fixes it. Besides that, it works well. The songs you can pick are tied to the set of transition effects and filters used, which are matched to the beat of the music. The photos it picks and what order they go in is unfortunately random. No ability for custom songs and transitions yet.
I haven't experimented with the retouches yet, but the potential is pretty impressive for things like Always Smile. I can foresee myself taking Zoes indstead of stills and then only keeping the best frame for a lot of photography applications.
You cannot digital zoom when taking Zoes. It would look really bad anyway though, 4MP is not enough for quality digital zoom - Stills are terrible zoomed.
Thanks for pointing out that highlight selection bug. Thought I was doing something wrong there . Works good as alternative splitting events and selecting the stuff I want to use in a new highlight. Hope htc fixes this in a future update.

get it from eCrater.com from Tech Direct i believe it's called... it will be $177 total (including shipping) but i got mine in 3 days.... I ordered Thursday of last week Very good seller
I have been emailing manufacturer's because they are apparently working on software to use with the device to pair to the phones. There are no current apps that utilize call handling from Phone to Watch so the device is more of a standalone device for now. Plays videos, good camera, touch functionality is good, it got a little bit hot while i was runing ADW launcher so i uninstalled that... stock launcher runs fine. Charges fast - FM radio feature is pretty damn cool however you have to use stock headphone it comes with as antenna, they plug in via micro usb. Overall great build quality... Looks like an HTC One LOL

In the video, the person said that the battery will last 1 and 1/2 days. (Not a China dude but I still understand their Singlish)
Btw the battery life is probably the same for other similar smart watches unless they have battery tweaks like the Qualcomm toq and the pebble smart watch which reduces or fully disables touchscreen and colour
Well the battery life i don't know because i haven't killed it yet..... The battery meter goes up and down QUITE a bit though so i can't get a real good read on the battery gauge, which is kind of frustrating...
So far i've rooted and changed the boot animation with rom toolbox pro. I cannot get the stock lock screen clock and launcher to go away tho, even after changing the filenames in /System/App which leaves me boggled. I am running ADW and a large digital clock on my homescreen and would rather unlock to that then the analog clock.
If you guys are interested, i did a quick review of the watch i will upload to youtube tonight and make new thread with video

What are its capabilities as far as connecting to a phone
Short review
I just received mine in the mail and must say, I'm pleasantly surprised. Build quality is excellent. The screen is bright and hires enough to be able to read everything. Wifi is stable and quite good, in contrary top most other China devices I have (mostly JXD). Of course the keyboard is a bit cramped and hitting the right letter is a gamble but the screen is sensitive and it doesn't take a strong touch. The interface is very smooth and responsive. I have installed a few apps which work well. The only thing that keeps crashing is Skype, which is weird as it came with the watch. There seems no way to use Google Now either (it keeps crashing) which is a pity as I don't want to even think about searching with the on-screen keyboard. The loudspeaker is okay (not great). I haven't tried using it to call anyone yet, that will be next on my list. I just noticed that the watch doesn't take micro sim cards. That quite surprising for such a small device. Now I'll have to go out and buy a regular sim card. I'm not a big fan of adapters.

It looks like a nice device I'm torn between buying this watch or just waiting around for the kickstart project Neptune Pine. Which seems to be a much more polished product
I'm also thinking about getting this or the neptune but the Pine looks so big it will make my already small wrists tiny!
I like the idea of the Pine but think I might go for the ZGPAX....

What are its capabilities as far as connecting to a phone

The thing is that its recognized by bluetooth as a phone so there is file transfer capability but not call handling or notification handling until the manufacturer releases an app to provide support for this... I would advise anyone who purchases to try and contact the manufacturer and get this info. Ive been looking a week now for an app in the store but have found nothing.

[VIDEO] Mods & Apps Setup

NOTE: This quick video just shows my modifications and applications on my Nexus 5. If you want me to go into detail about each of them let me know as this is not a 'tutorial' video, but more like a 'teaser'. I hope you enjoy the video XD.
Any feedback?
ill be honest, not to hurt your feelings or anything, because that's not what im trying to do.. but why does it matter to me what apps and mods that you decided to use?

haha ouch you hurt me bad :'(....haha not at all XD
-well first off I did this as I like making videos and had no idea what to do so just did this as I am not getting feedback on specific things..
-people can discover new 'mods' xposed framework to download
-to see how AWESOME the NEXUS is
-because my videos are awesome?
is there any other type of video you would like to see?

ahh..
i think your vids can help more, if they got out more into the public, not really much help on xda though. more of the public is uninformed, as it would help there.

thats the problem :/ how will they reach if no one is giving feedback sharing or anything lol
I like the video. Music is good for the type of video, +1 to the wallpaper because turbos, intro is cool, +1 to the themes, I like the Settings tiling up animation (not sure if that makes sense).
Only thing I would say is smoother camera handling (e.g. min. 55, min. 2:13-2:15) and the angle you have your phone is good but at some points it's hard to tell what app, or what setting you're doing/using because the very top left is blurry.
Also I can tell I'm bored right now waiting for the wifey because I just spent a lot of time reviewing a 3 minute video lol
What's the purpose of the video?
Why not link apps and mods properly with descriptions and instructions.
Why not a step-by-step or how-to?
A 3 minute video I'm forced to watch is useless.
Why spend 3 minutes looking at something?
Now you have to pause, rewind, fast forward parts if you missed something.
Everything written out would save time and not waste everyone else's.
All I see is a video to generate views.

As stated above...I purposely made it without all that because it would be a waste of time. As I have asked what kind of videos people would like to see with no feedback, so I created this for fun. And you are forced? I don't see anyone holding a gun to your head...I mean go dislike, knock yourself out XD
