So it fell on the glass screen hard onto the floor, but not a scratch! BUT WLAN isn't working anymore and shows "error" in settings now Everything else including bluetooth works fine.
Any ideas to what/where the problem could be (likely hardware)? Easy to fix?
Probably hardware, , dropped mine 18 months ago and lost GPS. The fact you are getting an error would suggest actual damage to the wifi hardware, rather than a disconnected aerial.

There is potential for that but read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1190180
One of the sets of contacts is for wifi.
Hope it helps, worked for my radio signal

Thanks for the replies. So if the wifi chip is actually damaged is it possible to replace it? Can I buy a new one from anywhere?
If i remember it well, the wifi chip is On the motherboard so I don't think it's possible to replace it
not a chance, the logic part of the wireless subsystem (wlan, bluetooth, gps etc) is located inside the qualcomm chip (the one we usually but improperly call the "cpu").

I have an XDA Atom, it falls down on the floor and the screen broken
then I bought one from ebay and change it myself
but For no apparent reason the Wi-Fi stopped working, do hard reset and this time there's no WiFi even on the wireless manager, it's gone!!
Do O2 self diag gives me "Get Adapter Info () return FALSE"
Any other details to help me solve this?

try to reflash the unit, if you can't still use wifi. It could have been HW problem and not SW.
reflashing is not working. it's definitely HW issue.
so, do u know where the wifi chip located on the board, just want to look at it for curiosity
thanks brian

sorry bro, but the fact that it can be HW issue, then replacement is the only solution or fix with SC and or any technician that is knowledgable with the unit.
Actually my mobile not only fall down on the floor
but it's ran away and jump from my hand to the ceiling and fall down on the sharp arm of my bed
so that's it, lcd broken and I fix it but my W.lan is the only not working part

well if WLAN is the only thing that's not working, you can just leave it as is. it's better to have a broken WLAN than a paperweight unit right?
My wireless is not working.
Hi all,
My wireless is not working. The wifi self diagnostic returns "GetAdapterInfo() return FALSE...".
Can you please help me in this problem???
I have Radio : R060822N_MN2ARC_RS00013
My wifi working sometimes well like may be once in 50 try. So it is not something related to hardware. and at that time wifi self diagnostic returns proper MAC address.
Can you please guide me which radio is latest one for O2 Atom exec and if this is not latest then from where I can download latest.
Looking for response.
Thanks and Regards,
CyberShakti
We refurbish and sell HTC phones. Currently we have received about 250 T-Mobile Shadow phones.
Upon initial testing we are finding that some of the phones the wifi does not function. After some reading I see that this is a common problem. Some people have resolved with hard reset, reloading rom, and one by changing some hardware.
We have tried all these steps and still have not gotten any defective ones to work.
Has anyone had this issue and able to resolve it?
I wrote on the wiki some information about it but so far there is no solution.
So far I could "isolate" the problem to the circuit board on the screen part that control the wheel/d-pad and probably the wifi part.
If you use that part from a working wifi phone with the mainboard from a non working wifi phone you can get the wifi to work.
You guys probably can get more info from HTC on that as for me, they simple answer "thanks for contacting us, you need to check with your mobile company or send to repair" but no info

FROM THE WIKI
WiFi Problem:
<LI class="tightenable top bottom">Some versions of this phone are cursed with the "driver is not loaded" error while trying to use the WiFi. <LI class="tightenable top bottom">Some people reported that doing a hard-reset solved their problem.
The cause and solution for this is still unknown.
Software "view" of this problem: On a broken WiFi phone the radio stack wasn't corrupted, all the files and registry seamed to be correct.
Hardware "view" of this problem: Swapping parts between a phone with working WiFi and one with broken WiFi, the problem was isolated to the circuit behind the d-pad wheel where the screen is attached to.
On the working WiFi phone:
<LI class="tightenable top bottom">The writting on the antenna reads: the manufactured date and the word PHOEBUS
The stamp on the microSD slot reads GUKE
On the broken WiFi phone:
<LI class="tightenable top bottom">The writting on the antenna reads: a version code and the word PHOEBUS
The stamp on the microSD slot reads GTIE
Print that out take it to t-mobile and tell them you have a manufacture defective phone and you want a new one.
I tried that and it worked, but my screen quality lost and it was kinna yellowish and at different angle the screen looks different. why?

Hello everyone,
I'm having isssues with mobile data on my N4 after I replaced my digitizer and lcd screen. I dont have problems with WiFi, I also can call others, and others can call me, same with SMS's, but I can't access the internet. As I disconnect my WiFi, signal bars turn orange or get exclamation mark(tried on both kk and lollipop). It shouldn't be an issue witg the antennas, because SMS and calls work(wich also use cellular). Could be wrong though.
I'm also having weak singnal. In my area there is usually sufficient coverage, but in the moment I one bar indoors, 1 or 2 bars near windows(enough for calling, but too little for mobile data), but I used to have 3-4 bars indoors. Any fix to that?
Any help is welcome.
Edit: got access to internet by readjusting APN(duh). Never thought of that beause it usually does it itself.
Are you sure APN settings are correct ? I'm using TELE2 (Lithuania) and default apn settings are wrong - I need delete proxy server and proxy port from apn to have working mobile data ...

Yeah, I thought about that right after posting, and I got that fixed already,(I have also TELE2) but I still have reception issues. Anyway, thanks for participating.
for weak signal first what I would check - coaxial cable from mainboard to gsm antenna (plastic part above usb port) and maybe antenna connection pads.
have you tried 2G mode ?

The cable seemed fine to me, and the pads were okay. It might be just me, but it feels that the reception is getting better. I'm having almost constant 2G now indoors(before I almost had none). In 2G mode almost nothing changes, exept that it doesn't get occasional momentary 3G, like it does in 3G preferred mode.
I was wrong about the reception. Now it comes and goes absolutely random.

Problem solved. During the digitizer replacement I removed the electrostatic discharge tape. Replaced that with the insulating tape and now works fine.

Hi,
I've same issue, everything else are working fine but I get very low signal or no service at all. Where is this tape located?

It would be REALLY helpful if after you solved it, you could tell us the exact location, so any other person out of 7 billion people on earth, could solve it, including me.

First, I only thought at the time that it was solved, however I was wrong. I have reception only near cities.
Second, I put the tape over the coaxial cable and covering some of the battery as well.
Hello, im going straight to the point, i use my zenfone 5 (t00j) as a gps device all teh time, i ride a motorcycle all the time, unfortunally on a highway the phone flew out of the holder, got ran over a bunch of times by passing cars, but i noticed it was still alive, the volume buttons would make the bip sound when it reachs maximum volume ( screen wouldnt even light up so that was teh only indication). so i went on ebay and bought a bunch of parts. ok now the issue:
I cant get network signal, but i do have GPS and WIFI working flawlessly, what i wanna know is, does the wifi shares the same antenna? by that i mean that RF cable that connects the charging board to motherboard? is that the antenna for the network? it looks good dont show signs of damage but im at a lost, Sim2 was fisically disconected when i pick the phone up, and the SDcard was gone aswell, those were the main impact areas.
Can it be software bug or hardware? i've changed the sim card slots aswell and a factory reset
SMMI test shows only sim card slots fail and modem bus (wich i think its 3g?) wich would make sense not to work since cant get any signal, everything else pass's
Any help, any info on how that works? sim card slots send the info somewhere, where? what reads those signals?
thanks and if u know of somewhere more apropriate, i know this forum is more of a software related thing, but its active and i may get relevant info around here

respectufully, thats a whole bunch of nothing of an answer, ofc if i buy a new phone it will be solved lol, i have a new phone already, but i want to fix this one, hence my questions above, wanna try and solve it, since its only the network having issues, i might just use it as a dedicated gps/multimedia device since i fixed that much already.
the RF cable, thats the network antenna? what chip reads those signals?
I was wondering if anyone here is familiar with the Note 4 antenna hardware... Recently my Note 4 fails to connect to 3g / LTE networks though it connects and works absolutely fine with basic 2g networks. I ruled out everything I could software wise and also ruled out a sim card error leaving just a hardware fault to blame...
By chance this morning I just happened to be about 700m away from a cell phone mast so re-enabled 3g / LTE in network mode and to my amazement it connected to 4g and 3g with full signal strength and worked fine. Testing it again just 1.5km away resulted in the same issue... no 3g or LTE just 2g. This all leads me to believe that this is likely an antenna issue?
I replaced the motherboard in this phone (EMMC error) a long time ago and the charging / mic / button block at the same time as it could be a bit unreliable... the phone has been faultless since (until this much more recent issue with signal).
I know my way around the inside of the phone reasonably well but I can't seem to find out whether the antenna is purely made up of just the charging block, the blue & white wires connecting this block to the motherboard or a combination of both?... does anyone know the answer to this?
Both wire connectors and charging blocks are fairly easy and cheap to source and replace so doing both seems to be the route I'm heading down at the moment but I'm curious if it could possibly be only one part that is at fault (given that the antenna must be working to some extent to connect to 2g networks) ?
Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for your reply the parts are in order but won't be here for a few more days yet... I'll let you know the outcome...
Just to conclude this thread I first replaced the antenna wires then later the antenna / charging port block neither solved the issue and so it would seem it's a fault with hardware on the motherboard. Probably an isolated case as I've yet to come across another mention of such an issue.

I just started having this issue after the first of January. I was told it was because the 3G was disconnected by the cell provider and that the Note 4 defaults to the 3G antenna. So my question is if anyone knows if there are two antennas in the Note 4 and if one is specifically for 4G? Or if there is a software update that can resolve the issue?
