As per title: is it possible to change them?
Thx.
There is an "Advanced" section under the wifi status bar which allows you to set a static ip, thus change the dns settings.

Does anyone know of an app or a way to toggle between different IP Manager profiles?
I am trying to address a problem with my Desire that I've had since the Froyo update which means I have to use a static IP address in one location & dynamic everywhere else.
Thanks in advance.

Thx but it's not quite what I'm looking for. I can't see how to switch back to dynamic IP or how to set conditions. IP Manager already lets me set different IP addresses.

Any suggestions?
I'd settle for something that can automatically switch between a static and a dynamic IP address.

did you try the app?
When no profile has been saved for one spot, it get its IP by DHCP
Profiles are only set for static parameters...

Hi quesseb - sorry but I'm not sure what you mean. What app are you referring to?
Thx.

I used wifi static as mentioned.
It detects a known network and switches to the relevant static IP. And of course there is no profile for it to remember when you use DHCP
No problem folks. I switched to Locale with the IP address plug. That did the trick. I can now switch between IP addresses based on location or WiFi connection. Handy simple & it just works.

I turned on wifi but was unable to access / change my IP to a static IP . I couldnt find the option under wifi - advanced as well. The new options allow me only to change my Signal Band (2.4gz/5gz) but not change my IP address or put a static IP.
Any thoughts?
It's right there
Press and hold your connected access point
Check Show advanced options
Click IP settings and change from DHCP to Static
Enter your IP/DNS
thanks i also had a problem but now i can enter my ip but the save button is unfortunately greyed out so stuck up in getting ip address can anyone help
ps: figured it out now working
thanks
saving of static IP is now per network instead of per wifi interface.
still not able to assign static ip

Is this also the case with proxy server? I have an Asus Transformer on ICS that allows me to save Proxy per access point, and I'm hoping the GNote will also do this on ICS.

Just checked myself, glad to see this!
Long press on the network you want to change, click 'Modify network config'
Then you need to change the 'IP settings' pull down box from DHCP to Static, otherwise the rest will remain greyed out.
Hope thats all clear.
I have had the same problem.
Wouldn't is be a better option to have your router reserve a specific IP address for the MAC address of your Note? That way you won't have to change the settings on your Note when you want to connect to a different network.

It would, but that's a bit too technical for most users, as it requires going into advanced settings of your router. Most people don't even know their routers IP address, let alone configure MAC-level access!
Also the default setting is for DHCP on all networks, so the user doesn't have to worry when connecting to any network.
In ICS, they have introduced the option of allowing different IP settings for each network. In previous android versions, you could only have 1 global setting that affected all networks.
I like to use a static IP on my home network, but every over network I connect to requires DHCP. So previously, I had to disable Static IP to access other networks (or use an app called Wifi static!).
It's no wonder I was confused 'Wifi static' was no longer working

With the long press stuff --> modify network and add the static IP, it seems not work for me. My phone is a samsung galaxy s3.
Do u think the phone need to be rooted to gain superior access privilegde?
And my setup network @home is ad-hoc. So cant reserve any ip on a router.
Kind regards
Takeur

if by "not work" you mean that you can't see an option to change from DHCP to static, it may simply be because the on-screen keyboard automatically appears at that setup page (so you can enter a password) and it obscures the options further down the page.
So, you need to:
1. long press on your connection to go into "modify network config"
2. press capacitive "back" key (or click "done") to reveal the bottom of the page
3. check the "show advanced" tick box
4. scroll down beyond the visible part of the page to get to DHCP setting.

You mean to fill all the other boxes because it still doesn't seem to work can anyone give me a step to step explanation of how to do it. I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

here's my solution on my note ICS
1. long press wifi connection, enter your network password
2. change dhcp to static
3. fill ip address of your device
4. FILL NETWORK PREFIX OF YOUR STATIC WIFI NETWORK (NETWORK PREFIX is substitution of NETMASK ADDRESS (eg 255.255.255.255) see table here ttp://gabbtech.blogspot.com/2012/09/subnet-mask-address-dan-persamaannya.html
5. fill other requirement (gateway,dns,etc)
6. You should be able to click greyed out SAVE button now
Is it possible to change the ip address on my phone? It is clashing with other hardware on my network that has the same static ip.
no idea BUT BUT BUT your network should not be dishing out a clashing IP address.
Fix your DHCP settings on your router (I'm guessing) so it excludes the IP address that you're clashing with. Heck I'd just exclude the entire range that I use for static IPs.
Seriously though any DHCP server that is not a piece of junk will try a ping first and if something's already taking up an IP address it will not allocate it.
I was hopping for an easy fix because I just got my network working the way I want. My Droid is clashing with my security can system I can change the IP address on the cam but then I will have to go to 6 mobile devices and change the settings.
I will check my router like you suggested. Thanks.

All you have to do (in ICS, should be same for JB) is go to settings --> Wi-Fi --> long press on network you want to edit --> select modify network --> scroll down to "show advanced options" and check --> scroll down to IP settings and change from DHCP to Static --> scroll down to "IP address" and change.

Thank you bitz_dz that did the trick.
In Windows, I can set what my IP address should be so it matches my router. Can this be on on this tablet?
I'm trying yo set a static IP as I believe I am getting conflicts which is causing major issues.

Settings/WiFi, find the network you want, long press on it, and Modify Network.
"IP settings" is where you select DHCP or Static, then you can enter the address(es) below that.
How to configure a static IP for wifi on my Nexus 4 running custom ROM 4.4.1.
I cant find it on google either.

Not a single reply?
Use your router settings to do it, add a reserved IP address for your nexus 4.
IF you want to do it on the phone just long press the network, click modify, then show advanced options, then change IP address to static instead of DHCP
