Please Nvflash to 3588 (VERY IMPORTANT)
Here's a link for instructions of 3588 by roebeet

Releasing an alpha version for xda-members to experience Honeycomb in their GTABS. First and foremost, thanks to Roebeet, MrGUY, DJ_Steve, pershoot and the rest of adam devs who helped us port Honeycomb.
WARNING:
This will update your bootloader to 1.2 version (need to be on 3588 for this combo to work)
Whats working..
1. Wifi, BT
2. Touchscreen
3. buttons
4 Browser, Gmail
5. Market
6 gapps
What is not working..
1. OpenGL
2. Camera (because of OpenGl)
3. No flash yet

******* YOU NEED TO BE ON 3588 STOCK and STOCK RECOVERY (NO CWM) BEFORE FLASHING THIS COMBO******
INSTRUCTIONS #1
1. Nvflash to 3588 STOCK DO NOT USE CWM FOR 3588
2. Do not install CWM (we need the stock recovery)
3. DO NOT INSTALL CWM (we need the stock recovery)
4. PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL CWM
5. Reboot
6. RENAME COMBO FILE NAME TO Update.zip
7. Move Update.zip to /sdcard folder
8. Unzip recover.zip and move recovery folder to /sdcard folder
8. Turn off
10. Press Power+Volume up then this will install Update.zip
The reason we don't install CWM for 3588 is because this won't install the bootloader
Instruction #2
1. Rename Combo file to Update.zip and place in /sdcard folder
2. Unzip recovery.zip and put recovery folder in /sdcard
3. Update to NVFLASH to 1.2-4349 using this image
http://www.mediafire.com/?g7vorg66iiq29vm
4. Enter recovery by pressing Power Button+Volume up
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GO BACK TO FROYO AND STAY IN 1.2 bootloader here is a link for my Combo version 6

I am currently running gojimi vegan ginger rc1. What will I have to do if I want to go back, and how are storage partitions mapped on this Rom ?
cool! can't wait to try this. waiting patiently for rom to be uploaded and installation instructions to be posted...
Can't wait to finally try this when I get a few days off!
Question: After trying this and having the bootloader upgraded, will I be able to easily revert back to Clemsyn -Calkulin 1.5 with the new bootloader or will I have to nvflash?
I had to use nflash to go between the two bootloaders. My apps are usually remaining or you can use Titanium to get them back.
Awesome build running smooth already glad someone posted this here

Thanks for posting it here Clemsyn. I really didn't want to sign up for another forum so I can ask question haha.
Anyways, when you say gmail is working, is it fully functional? I thought there were shader (or something like that) issues that prevented us to see the body of the email.
Also, is flash in the browser working?
Those are my two must haves if I am going to switch to HC.
Thanks in advance.

No flash yet. There is a hacked gmail.apk that works fine. I am using it now, and only flash is not working of everything I personally use. The devs are very close now.
I apologize for the delay, it wasn't done uploading yet and I needed to go to my kid's science project (he won 5th place). Just got home so I posted the link on first page. BTW, gmail is also fixed.

actually flash is technically working just fine...it's the opengl shader issues causing it not to display properly...opengl is also causing the gmail app issues (alt app in place as a temp fix, now) and opengl issues are causing a few other apps to have issues as well...once opengl is resolved then this will be a practically perfect build, imo been running it for about a week now with all the updating and love it!!

Thanks clemsyn for sharing this, so whats the difference between this and Roebeets versions released on slatedriod ?
hey, clemsyn...when you get back online, I have a question for you. A lot of the current talk in the Adam dev chat is that a .36 or newer kernel will resolve many of the current issues (OpenGL specifically)...I was wondering if maybe you had a newer version kernel in the works or not for the gtab? If so, how's it coming along? If not, how tough do you think it would be to develop a .36 version of the kernel? Thanks for everything, man. Have a good one.
Is Dolphin HD working on this?
Thanks to clemsyn & roebeet for porting this from the Adam.
Stuck on boot
Hey Roebeet, its been awhile but I'm back and ready for HoneyComb. I folowed your directions. I used NvFlash to get back to 3588. I then installed CWM .08 and partitioned internal 2048 and 0. I put the zip on internal and installed via CWM. Now it hangs on the viewsonic white screen? Any Ideas?
Theres already a 2.3.32.40 overclocked kernal out. Is that not what you are wanting?

it's 2.6.32.40...the 40 is the version number of the .32 kernel...they are looking for a x.x.36.x kernel to possibly resolve the issues with opengl...

I think this guys issue stems from the fact that he installed cwm. This rom needs to be installed with the stock bootloader.
Well I have the same issue, I wiped, but nothing. When I flashed the file, it said unknown command bootloader, bla bla.
Pretty sure thats the issue, I was running 3588 ...dont know whats up.
I get the same results with the unknown command bootloader. I've tried wiping all data after the installing the rom and the gtab still gets hung up. This is coming from using nvflash to 3588 and a repartition.
If you don't want watch a long video on another site, this is a simple guide to install CM9, if this is your first time and are totally new follow instuctions here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1305891
If you already have CM7 then all you have to do is download the CM 9 and ACMEinstaller2, more info here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1452324
then.
1 copy the cm9 .zip file to the folder cminstall you created when installing cm7 of your touchpad and eject.
2 shutdown your touchpad
3 Hold the volume up button and press power button simultaneously. You should see a white USB symbol.
3 Connect the USB cable to pc and touchpad, the driver will be automatically detected and installed.
4 copy the ACMEinstaller2 file you downloaded to your desktop or wherever you want. Open up cmd as admin ( in windows) or root terminal ( in linux or mac). cd to the directory where you just extracted your ACMEinstaller2.
5 type
Code:
novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller2
NOTE: windows users might have to manually move the novacom.exe and/or AcmeInstaller into c:\programfiles\palm folder and run the above command from there.
Once all done you will boot in to CM9. You can then flash gapps via cwm.
Hope it helps someone.
Thank you. This was a huge help.
Just a note: The ACMEInstaller that you download is a binary file already which means it does not need to be 'extracted' anywhere; just move it to the same directory as your novacom executable.
is it no google's installed on CM9 Alpha 0 ?
i cannot open any app from Google like Market , Maps, Gmail ... etc even I flashed the GAPPS file ? any steps I missed ? Please help
What I did is just flash this over xron 2.9 using cwm. Wipe cache... I do not even do a factory reset. Most application seems fine..
Wi-Fi problem is the same. I got drop off once in a while. To all dev, I think this should no. 1 priority in the list. Thank you all..

Yeah you have to flash gapps again in clockworkmod recovery but you need to install the fix after to fix calendar sync.
So flash this..

Installed using cwm a couple days ago. Alpha 0 means little to me... still far better than any gingerbread from out there. Did factory reset, cache, system and have been fine ever since. Such a relief to have a usable keyboard, UI, browser(tabs), and stability too. Trebuchet launcher is basically stock. Allows nice scrollable Widgets and resizing.
Thanks for writing these out, made it nice and easy.

I'm getting the same problem. My first install was through ACMEInstaller 2. Then I copied the other CM9 file from dalingrin's post and installed via ClockworkMod. Same issue. Here is what I am running:

Thank you for the guide. Just wanted to share my experience. Was coming from XRON 2.9.1.
NOTE: My instructions are for people who have TWRP installed. I use it exclusively instead of CWR. My instructions also include a Market fix that allows the installation of tablet apps. The market will NOT auto update due to the modified market apk. I also say format /system, /data, /cache, and dalvik, probably overkill, but it works great. If you're not comfortable formatting everything, don't
Downloaded CM9 Alpha 0/0.5 from dalingrin's thread, here.
Downloaded Gapps from sprice5's XDA thread, here.
Downloaded modified Market apk from PhantomGamer's Rootzwiki thread.
Opened Gapps zip with 7zip and deleted Vending.apk and replaced with PhantomGamer's modified apk. Renamed to Vending.apk
Renamed MarketUpdater.apk -> MarketUpdater.apk.bak as PhantomGamer states in his thread.
Booted to TWRP, backed up my CM7 install.
Wiped data, system, cache, and davlik.
Flashed CM9 Alpha 0/0.5, flashed modified Gapps, flashed charger/system UI fix -> found in dalingrin's thread, here.
Rebooted. Welcomed by ICS goodness.
Synced Gmail account, opened Market and downloaded Reddita (Tablet Reddit App). Works great!
Thanks to dalingrin, sprice5, PhantomGamer and of course the CM team!
Everything is working great.
I downloaded CM 7.1 stable for my Nook color, and when I go to install I get an assert error with a "status 7".
I've done a lot of flashing of ROMs on my DX, but I'm wondering if there's a step I'm missing. I've pretty much just done the usual routine for flashing a new ROM:
- nandroid backup
- wipe cache,system,data,dalvik cache
- flash ROM zip file
No luck for any ROM I've tried. Anyone know what I need to do to get this to work?
Go over the steps in my sig. If that's no help check out the links in it particularly eyeballer's and mrg666's.
Thanks, I'll try it out. Why don't the official CM7 and MIUI builds work?
Are there other Mirage Kangs I can try out? Any good ICS ones?
Thanks again,
Mike
Also, I'm assuming if I have CWMR already installed I don't need the boot SD, correct?
Same problem. I get
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "encore" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "encore" || getprop("ro.product.board") == "encore"
E: Error in /sdcard/download/encore_CM72_MiRaGe-06082012.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Does this mean I have to do the SDcard boot?
In theory you could put any ROM in place of M-K you wanted but if you are wanting ICS I would install using one of those instruction threads. All I was suggesting was that you go over the basic steps I outline to make sure you weren't missing anything.
And yes, it sounds like something got corrupted and you need to start from scratch. I would at this point. I always look at it as time to flush the old and try out some new.

So, I tried unrooting and doing a stock recovery, then using a boot-sdcard to flash any number of ROMs. I still get the same error.
At this point it seems something is fundamentally wrong. I tried several options on the flashing, nothing seems to get around this error.
Is there anything else I can do here?

When you say you were able to do a stock recovery, what did you mean by that? Were you able to flash a stock ROM to emmc with recovery? Or did you do an 8 failed boot reset?
Also, what version of CWM are you using?
The problem you are having is the install zip cannot verify that it is flashing to the correct device. If it can't find that 'encore' in your properties it will abort. I'm not sure where that property is stored on your emmc, but the zip is not finding it.

I'm using CWM 5.x (don't have it handy to check, I can get the exact version if needed).

Emmc means embedded multimedia card. It is basically an SD card built into the Nook. It is where all of your internal information is stored. It is partitioned into 8 partitions to hold various kinds of information, like the system files for your ROM, and data that is specific to your installation (application settings, your login info, etc.).
When you did the factory reset it cleared the data info, but not the system info. That is good if you want your stuff off, but it does nothing to the system files (including the root files). So someone else could put their info in and yours will be gone.
Somewhere on one of those 8 partitions is info stored that tells the zip you are an encore. (It's 1, 2 or 3, I just don't know which). The zip is not finding it. That could be because one of those partitions is corrupt. Or the data could just be missing.
If you truly did a factory restore, like flashing a factory zip to emmc, then the info might come back.
OK, thanks! Looks like I've got some homework to do.

I also think I had modified some of the system info when I originally rooted this thing. It's not my device, and now the owner (much father in law) wants more than just a rooted device, he wants the full tablet experience. And I like hacking someone else's device.
Long story short, I'm learning quite a bit here, so thanks...

Try looking here (post 148). It is a Stock Rom zip for 1.4.1. Try flashing that with your CWM. Use the first one. It still has an assert statement in it so it may also fail, but it is worth a try.
status 7 error
I'm on and a nook tablet and I'm trying to flash 7.2 stable, I already have CM7 Alpha on the nook which the install had gone smoothly. I tried to use rom manager which gets me to clockworkmod but I get the same error - status 7 when trying to install the cm-7.2.0-encore.zip that I downloaded from cyanogenmod.com.
I've tried downloading it a couple of times, I've tried a bootable sd card but I still get status 7 when trying to install. I've followed the install guide cyanogenmod's wiki to the letter but I cannot get past that error. Anyone have any idea what might be causing it? Right now I'm back to CM7 Alpha.

mikecico, are you sure you are on a nook color? They look almost identical, but the nook color has a black bezel and the nook tablet is silver. Like I said in my post above, they are different devices and that may be why the zip is rejecting the install. It's doing its job.

Thanks for the video. It came just in time as I just purchased a used TP that had an older version of android ICS already on it and I wanted to upgrade but seeing as how this is the first device I have sort of inherited already rooted, it is hard to just jump in and know everything that I would have learned from the beginning like i did with my previous phones.
Anyways, I did everything you said except I used the newest AOKP rom. But my tp is still booting to the older version of android that I had on it. Any ideas? Feel free to pm me if you prefer that.

If the AOKP ROM is using a unique uImage file, then you may see two different entries on your moboot screen for two different Android builds.
What does your moboot menu have in it?
Maybe your install failed. Try downloading and flashing it again. If you're trying AOKP JB, you should wipe both /data and dalvik cache to avoid a boot loop!
If using AcmeInstaller3 remember to rename the ROM with ”update-” at the beginning so that it looks like update-AOKPJB_UnOfficial.zip

I believe it was the "update-" thing that was keeping it from updating. I followed another video tutorial which provided files that had the "update" in front of them and it worked.
I haven't tried yet but now that it worked will the regular method of wiping and flashing through recovery work? (Like, if I want to try out different JB Roms) Are there any files that need to be in a particular place for the recovery method to work? I tried that method first and it would never take, would always revert back to the original version. Don't know if, because I just jumped in and haven't been here from the beginning, I am just missing a necessary step that is hardly even talked about anymore.
Love your work Rev! Thank you again for everything that you do!
Update went like clockwork, unfortunately I can't seem to get the camera to work (not a terrible loss, but I was sorta excited to see it actually working with this release).

Don't go for external mirrors unless some recognized developer suggests them. Best will be to wait for goo.im to come up again, being a prime site, it won't be down for long.
The goo servers do appear to go down on occasion. They always come back up a bit later.
Problem with installing GAPPS using ACMEInstaller3
Excellent tutorial for an idiot like me. Thanks for again for the guide! Question:
I followed the instructions step by step and was able to get CM10 installed successfully. However, I wasn't able to get GAPPS installed using this method. From researching I understand sometimes there is a problem installing GAPPS through ACMEInstaller3 and one can simply get GAPPS installed through CWM Recovery. However, I would like to use/have TWRP instead so is there a way to get GAPPS installed properly through ACMEInstaller3 and then I can install TWRP through GooManager?
Alternatively, is there a way to install GAPPS without using CWM Recovery?
Or, I guess I can install CWM Recovery first, then install TWRP Recovery, then remove CWM Recovery while keeping TWRP and not go back to the stock Recovery? I tried to search the forums and wasn't able to find instructions on removing CWM Recovery WHILE still keeping CM10 and not go back to the Stock recovery.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.
@reverendkjr - appreciate your videos. they're awesome. definitely helped me (and several other friends) many times and saved a ton of time. super easy to follow.
Yes you can install TWRP normally, flash gapps in CWM then install goomanager app, open and click the 3 dot menu and install custom recovery script then it will install it
Now using a root file manager go to the directory called boot and delete uimage.cwm.img (this is from memory but still should be correct

My goodness you have forgotten everything, you will need to install acmeuninstaller 3, moboot, CMW and the rom you want along with the relevant gapps. Sounds complicated this thread will make it easy
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147284 and has all the necessary links. Have fun.

Great vid!! Finally got CM10 on my Touchpad.
Hi folks. My A500 has been stationary for awhile. It was previously my XBMC player attached to my TV. I switched to a Tegra 3 device for that and bounced the A500 out. After it wasn't the xbmc device anymore, I took it up to a CM10 JB rom. It had been fine for months. I've had it sitting in a case with the power to it for awhile but haven't played around with it. I took it into work today to sell to a co-worker and now it's not booting.
It comes up to skrilax bootloader v8 booting primary kernal image and the acer logo. It fuzzes for a moment and then goes back to looking like normal. It just sits here and never proceeds to his boot animation. I *CAN* boot into the menu via power+vol down and I *CAN* boot into recovery directly via power and vol up. My recovery is TWRP 2.1.3 with touch. Sometimes when I boot into recovery, the TWRP blue screen gets out of the way VERY slowly. Sometimes, it's normal. Hitting the log shows it's spamming the console with a whole bunch of E:failed to mount /data (no such file or directory). E:Can't open /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 (no such file or directory) Unable to mount /data/media during GUI startup E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
Then it verifies the filesystem and the partition sizes
Then more unable to mounts in /system /data /cache /sdc and /flexrom
In recovery, it seems not to be able to recognize my sdcard that it never had a problem with either. With the fact that recovery can run (and likely fastboot, etc) I think this isn't a lost cause. I don't even know why it went down in the first place. It's just been sitting idle, on power in a case for a couple of months.
Did you ever find a solution to this problem? My a500 is doing the exact some thing. Exact same behavior in TWRP and everything.

Not yet. I plan to. Was working on a few other projects first
Find a solution to this? Have a customer that brought in their A500 to the shop last night, and it's doing the exact same thing. Says that he tried to turn it on one day and nothing. Sounds like the partitions and/or flash memory is hosed.

if tab was running ics or jb xda or stock rom Run the babsector.rar file linked above and post the output but u need to retrieve the cpuid. See srbeens sticky in the general forum for getting the cpuid/sbk via apx mode using linux.
If it was a tegra owners rom it may still be on the hc bootloader in which case u can flash a stock update.zip from the ext sd card.

Even though I haven't attempted fixing this yet (other projects are ahead of it), I was running one of Civato's roms so it came from here, not tegra owners. It was running an ICS rom for awhile and the loop occurred sometime after switching to a JB rom.
