Litening uses the ODIN method to flash!
Coming from another custom ROM, you have to do a factory reset, cache and dalvik cache wipe from CWM!
Recovering your old apps, leave the job to Titanium Backup!

Your backup will be saved. That is the purpose of CWM. We can easily try different builds without wiping out our previous build and data to go back them. This makes it easy to try different builds to see if you like them or not and revert back.
So.. if im installing new build i dont have to wipe my phone at all ? Just install it over the cwm, and then restore

Before flashing any rom including Omega you should do a full wipe in recovery for best results.
Omega rom does NOT delete everything from your device, none of the custom roms do that.
Good luck and be sure to wipe before flashing...................

If you wipe it all then all is gone from internal sd.
But you have to full wipe for good result..
You should root the stock rom and backup all user apps with TITANIUM BACKUP and then wipe and flash Omega rom.
After flash you just inatall TITANIUM BACKUP again and restore all from backup...

[Q] Proper way of Flashing Custom ROMs (AOKP etc..)

Hello guys,
Good to be part of the Android family here.
I just got a question to ask in behalf of all Noobs here.
Can anyone enlightened us on the proper way and procedure to flash another ROM if we have already done so,
like, if my ROM has an update, what should I do? In the proper way... Wipe? Dalvik Cache?
Currently I'm running Jamal's GE Jelly Bean AOSP ROM on my S4. I have had a soft-brick experience with mine and I don't wanna screw it up again. Going through Odin and Re-Root is really a chore, and bad for my phone(? perhaps?)
Thanks guys.
Cheers.

If u wanna update the same Rom u have mostly wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache and install the Rom and rebooot
Again it depends check the installation procedure given on the Rom "OP" only he will know best whether the Rom is full wipe or no wipe
And if u wanna install a new Rom
From recovery wipe data/factory reset wipe cache / wipe dalvik cache... Then install Rom and reboot all done
Edit always have a nandroid backup in pc or sd card to be on the safer side
.
Got it thanks a mill!

[Q] ROM Downgrading nexus 4

Hello everyone, I am a newbie in flashing ROM's rooting etc.
I am currently running on CM11 on my nexus 4 with android version 4.4.4 . I want to flash a CM11 based rom for my nexus 4 which is 4.4.2. Do I need to wipe data before flashing it?
ROM LINK THAT I AM GOING TO FLASH http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/development/rom-xl-z1-rom-v2-0-xperia-z1-style-t2630043
Thanks in advance!!
Make a nandroid backup of your current ROM and flash the new ROM after wiping cache, Dalvik, and system. If the phone bootloops, wipe the data in recovery. If the phone then boots, you know that some of the apps may not be compatible.
Thanks

Another option would be to use titanium back-up user apps, wipe data and then flash new rom. (definently shoul do an nandroid regardless)

Will flashing a stock firmware with odin reset a custom rom?

I have the batman rom installed on my g95ff now since my stock rom got boot looped when i tried to flash a boot logo that was a size too big. When that happened i flashed the stock firmware with odin aswell as stock recovery and it let me clear my cache/factory reset my phone to fix it.Sadly i lost my bootlogo and boot animation collection i had stored but i had most of my important apps backed up with titanium,so to make up for the lost data i rerooted with twrp, installed the batman rom and restored my apps back. The rom is really neat since i can customize more ui things such as the status bar aswell as my nav bar color which couldnt be done on the stock rom.So now that im familiar with installing roms, would i be able to try other ones simply by reflashing the stock firmware over the batman rom and reinstalling twrp?
So you're asking how you can try other custom ROMs?
You don't need to flash the stock ROM and flash TWRP every time you want to try a new custom ROM. It's MUCH easier than that.
You just need to backup your apps as normal with Titanium Backup, then boot into TWRP. From the Wipe menu, wipe system, data, cache, and dalvik-cache.
Then just flash the new ROM zip file as normal in TWRP, and you're done.

So as long as you wipe your phone you can install custom roms over anough anoughter custom rom.Sounds simple enough then.

Yep, the "System" partition is where the ROM is installed. When you wipe that, you're essentially wiping the ROM from your phone.
