Help!! Boot Looping(Phone doesn't Boot) - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just downloaded VirtuousAFFINITY today and installed on MyTouch 4g. Problem is that it just stays on the BOOT LOGO(Looping) and then the phone turns off. My phone is rooted(S-OFF) I F***ED Up and DID NOT do a NanDroid BACKUP(Yup...Dumb A**) I did do a wipe all data, dalvik and to be sure a second data wipe. Hopefully i didn't mess up my phone. Any HELP would be appreciated!

Thanks saranhai but how do i go about redownloading the rom if It just stays on the bootloop? I pull battery out and it goes to the bootloop when i turn the phone back on. I know how to get into the bootloader screen(Recovery etc. I already re downloaded the ROM but how do I put it on my SD Card if it only goes to the bootloop?

if you go into recovery, there's an option to mount USB storage (SDcard) to the computer under 'mounts and storage' ;0

If there is a way I can get computer to see the sdcard when connected in recovery or something I can drag another rom on card and install it...any ideas please?

Mount your sd in recovery and copy another rom from your computer to the sd. Unmount. Wipe data/cache/davlik. Flash rom

If there was only a website where you could look up a rom, download it and copy it from your PC via an SD adapter...
Get a mirco-SD to SD adapter. Pretty much all computers have an SD card slot nowadays.
Go into recovery, hit usb-ms toggle, then copy the rom over.

I am using clockwork 2.5.0.1 probably why I don't see a usb mount option...

I don't use clockwork, but there is still a mount usb option. It should be USB toggle or something like that. Otherwise, like already suggested, use a card reader.

[Q] Stuck on Revolutionary recovery screen after flashing kernel

Yesterday I completed my first root (using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1228566 ). Today I downloaded HDMwIn HDMI mirroring app which told me I needed the kernel manager lite. I Dowloaded and flashed I think it was Tiamat_evo kernel. After that it automatically restarted. htc white welcome screen comes on, goes away for 5 secs, white welcome screen comes back, goes away again then the revolutionary recovery screen comes on. I tried running the zip file from when I rooted it again but after rebooting again it does the same thing, over and over and over and over. I'm able to access the sd card via usb mount on the computer and I'm thinking there could a file I could put on there to make this right, maybe? I'm just not sure what file that would be if there is one. Like I said...pretty new to this stuff, so any help will be appreciated.

http://www.mediafire.com/?0dxde4clck4xo#73cha4djofajd download the universal one. Go to recovery if you have amon ra its called USB -MS toggle enable it and then plug your phone into your pc transfer the kernel over to you phone disable ms toggle then wipe dalvik cache and cache flash the kernel reboot and see if it works. In clockworkmod its under mounts and storage and enable USB mass storage and then follow the steps i posted
nope, no roms yet...should I have done that? Im downloading that kernal now on the pc, what do i do with the file after that. Not sure what you mean by clockwork mod..I followed the rooting process that i linked in the OP.

you don't need to flash a rom. After you download it go to recovery then mounts and storage and then enable usb mass storage then plug your phone into your pc and put the kernel on the root of your sdcard(not in any folders) . Tell me when you get this far

Can someone help?
I recently tried to flash a new radio and the md5 sum thing was correct and all and for some reason my phone wont start up. It just stays on the mytouch 4g logo.
Do you know if you have the good or bad chip? Look here to test it. Although you may need to be in the android system or recovery. Can you boot into bootlader/recovery? If not, then you are bricked. Try flashing stock froyo 2.2.1. If you get failed-PU, definetly bricked.
i can get into bootloader. and recovery but how do you put stock froyo onto micro sd if phone doesnt connect to computer

Mine did that last night when I flashed the latest radio. I just did a battery pull, took out the sd card to delete the radio, then I put it back in, booted to hboot then selected recovery and flashed another rom. All is well.

Yea, I have a card reader and leave it plugged in my computer at all times. I also have like 4 of them, if you don't have one go to like target or somewhere and get an 8gb sd card and card reader for like $12.

Install a new ROM with no CPUID

Hi guys
I don't know what is happening with my tablet. I dropped it on the floor and after that quit working. I tried to flash a new rom as I am able to go into the recovery but installation hangs up at finding boot img step. Restore not working as well. Sometimes it says that it couldn't load the sd card or the ext sd card. Now it bots but it stays at android logo forever and eventually shuts down.
I dont have the CPUID handy so any method using it is out of discussion.
If you can come up with a solution would be really awesome. If not I guess I have to throw it in the garbage.
Thanks a million.

If you did a recovery backup, you should be able to find the UID number in the recovery folder on your EXT SD card.
Or perhaps you were not rooted with CWM installed?
More than likely, it could possibly be just corrupt data. First thing I would do, is check your EXT SD Card on your PC. Copy the contents to your PC, then format it FAT32. (always try to save the contents of it first)
Then, I would try running one of the update files. Copy it to SD Card, and try installing it. You may have to try a couple first. Here's a link with decrypted A500 ICS update files. Generally, we install these (rename the file to update.zip), by holding Vol+ and PWR till it starts installing the update. However, if you have the V8 Bootloader installed, then you need to try them through CWM. One of them should work usually.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31323893&postcount=8
Another method is to totally wipe the internal memory from your tablet. This can be done through CWM. When you do your wipes and formats before installing a custom rom, go to Mounts and Storage, and toggle Data/Media. Then when you do your wipes, it will wipe and format EVERYTHING, leaving bootloader and CWM.
also, I would pop the back cover off, and look for loose connections.
As with throwing in the garbage, there is a market for a500/501 parts.

Thanks a lot for the tips. Never thought of sticking the sd card into the pc. I did a backup so i should easily find the CPUID. I'll try to follow your steps and see what's going on.

Other things you can try, if you have Skrilax_CZ V8 bootloader, you can try booting to fastboot, and wipe data. Theres several commands to do this for the different partitions like data, system, cache, then try re-installing the custom rom you were using again.

[Q] My phone took rom off itself

hi there i have my my touch 4g running jellybean 4.1.1 and some reason today when i went to go in the boot menu and change my splash screen it like restarted itself. Every time i try to click recovery in the boot menu it shows the pd15 files and then shows you need to update it. So basically i guess it went back to its original skin ,but still has everything. I see the s is off. Is there a way to be able to go back or do i have do the whole entire rooting process over again? I really appreciate all your help.
You need to remove the PDxx.img file from your SDcard otherwise evertime you go to the bootloader it will boot the stock ROM.

If you flashed a ROM of some sort using the PD15IMG.ZIP method (such as a stock Froyo or GB ROM), it exists in the root of your SD card (so, under /sdcard). You should see it by hooking up the phone and browsing to the top level of the card, or you could take the SD card out and examine it directly. If you don't rename if after an install, every time you try to boot the bootloader will look for it and try to reinstall it.
Whether you need to reroot again kind of depends on what the PD15IMG was. If you went back down to a stock ROM, then you would probably have to at least go through the rooting steps again (but not the S-off part).

I've only had that happen a couple of times when a ROM did not load successfully. Usually it's recoverable, but it sounds like in this case you *might* (I would ask somebody with more experience) need to reflash the CWM recovery via adb in order to get it working once again.

Yeah. The PD15IMG.zip put the stock recovery back on. Just flash the custom recovery of your choice.
