Can't make calls without turning speakerphone on! - EVO Shift 4G General

My girlfriends shift won't make an outgoing call until she hits the speakerphone button, then she can hear the ringing. After she hits speakerphone she can hit it again and the regular speaker works? Thought it might be a rom issue so I wiped everything and installed CM7 7.1.0 and same thing. Also sometimes when she types using keyboard she has to close keyboard to hit button on the touchscreen? Anyone have any ideas on what's causing this?

Sounds like a bad flash, or some left over data messing things up. Did you do a FULL Wipe like described in THIS guide. Try redownloading the Rom, and reflashing. If it still does it then try a different Rom. If after those steps the issue still persits, you might want to consider doing an RUU back to stock. To make sure it just wasn't something that got crossed up along the way.

Probably hardware issues. RUU to stock and if problems still exist take it back to Sprint and make them fix it.

Cyanogenmod 6 - Low volume in calls

I'm having problems with the in call volume. It's really low in regular calls, but if I make a call on skype it is really loud. I tried applying an Audio Hack if found on cm forums but it just caused the phone to keep crashing. Anyone know what to do? It can't be because I'm on At&t right?
Have u tried to just reflash it to see of that worked? Or do another wipe and flash.

Just reflashed and I think it worked. Gonna test it a few more times though. Thanks slinky1914.

Popping sounds on calls and low microphone issues

On calls I get popping sounds. a few times the pops have been so loud I almost dropped.
The microphone is also really low. people can't hear me I use to be able (Gnexus) to set the phone down and talk with it on the computer table next to me but now they can't hear me.

Standard 'is this a hardware problem?' test:
1. If you are on a custom ROM, flash completely back to stock and retest.
2. If you are already on stock, backup all your data and factory reset. Even better, completely wipe the phone and re-install stock and retest.
3. If the issue still occurs, the issue is most likely with the hardware. If the issue no longer occurs, then it was a software problem.
4. If I understand this reply correctly, you have already received a replacement device and the issue still occurs. In this case, you happen to be very unlucky.
As for the Nexus 4 in general, I can only speak anecdotally. I don't have the issue on the seven Nexus 4 devices I've tested: two of my own, three from coworkers/friends who also own the device, and two test devices.

Since the issue only happens during Skype calls and not while using the standard calling function, I would blame this issue on VOIP quality: either your latency is high, Skype is having quality issues, or some combination of the two. I have issues with Skype call quality on both my phone and my PC, and the issues are largely to do with Skype throttling the call bandwidth.
what about my mic issue the sounds very low. is there a way to change the gain on the microphone? I always use my phone by calling 1 of my friends I'm placing the phone beside my desk as I speak with them they can't hear me with this new phone they were able to perfectly hear me with the galaxy Nexus.

[Q] Low in-Call Volume after Rooting/Unlocking

Curious if anyone else is running into this... I am rooted and unlocked, running stock 183.46.10.XT907. I am on the 4.4 kernel as I rooted and unlocked from there and have not gone back to 4.1.2.
The volume is set at max using the volume key.
I've experienced the low call volume on Slim, CM11, and fastbooted back to stock to try to correct the problem.
Started in safemode, does not appear to be related to a 3rd party app.
Anyone experienced/overcome this or suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Yes I to have noticed this with not only the in call (both speaker phone and non)but also YouTube haven't looked into a resolution not on the phone that much ... I've had issues with it pressing buttons to have you or anyone else...it's not an issue with the proximity sensor as the display is off...

I haven't had issues with the hardware buttons, but appreciate hearing I'm not the only one. The speaker phone and speaker have normal volume for music, it is just in call that it seems muted.

Tried everything but going back to 4.1.2. Took to cleaning the area, even though not visibly clogged or dirty, with canned air/paintbrush/vacuum and it made it livable. It's better but not what it was.
Anyways- I would go to cleaning it first if you run into the same problem, you should get a little of the function back.

[Q] Problem with the speakerphone

Hello everybody. I need help regarding a serious issue I have. When I am in call and I activate the speaker phone the other party can barely hear me saying the sounds is really low. But when I tried recording a sound it has no problems whatsoever. I have no idea why this happens but its really annoying me. I would really appreciate if someone suggests me a solution on this one, cuz I couldn't find any by now.
Something is most likely blocking the top microphone of the phone.

Anyone please give me suggestion on what should I do, this is really annoying me..

Have you removed any cases etc. as mentioned above? If you have, to rule out any software complications flash a factory image.

Thing is when I use voice recorde, I hear it loud as f***, so there're no issues. Only when speaking and launching the loud speaker they say they hear me very low. And yes my display was broken and they replaced it, maybe they ****ed something, but since the Sound Record works well, where's the logic?
If there is a case it is possible that when you record sound, the device is recording through the bottom microphone which is not obstructed, and the top microphone you use during calls may be obstructed resulting in your issue.
Aside from that, maybe there is some sort of volume/speaker/microphone app that was installed that is messing with your mic levels during a call. I would still suggest to remove any 3rd party accessories and if the issue still occurs, than backup your data and flash the factory image.

Did you call the same person each time you were testing it?

No, tested with a lot of people with normal voice calls. Also tried Viber, Facebook calls - same stuff. My logic is this: since I am recording my voice with a voice program from miles away, that isn't possible to be the lower mic. So the speakerphone should work fine. But on calls its a different story, i tried without the speakerphone to speak away from the phone (mimicking as if it is a sound rec app) they hear me even worse. What could be the issue? I am confused
anyone...please answer guys, need desperately your help
help

No, but it hasn't anything to do with this. Tried several roms and kernels same results. I sent my phone for repair broken screen, after 1st delivery they even had the front camera not centered so i returned it back. Maybe the mic is broken? But if so, how come voice recording works well?

[Q] speakerphone problem - people cannot hear me

I'm using Rooted stock rom. My phone is working well when I talk as normal mode, ie. keep the ear next to the phone. But it has problem when I use it as 'speaker phone'. It seems like the microphone is having problem that people on the other side cannot hear me.
I tried to install CM, but the problem is still the same. Is there any fix for that?

Try flashing the factory images, and without restoring any data, try making a call attempt. If the microphone is still not working in speaker mode... then I have no idea what may be causing it, but it's hardware.
