You will need to wait until someone has compiled a ROM. The Exmor sensor is hardware, but you'll lose the SE camera interface. XLoud, etc, are all SE stuff, you won't get them.
In that case I wont flash it then. I enjoy all those options, and don't want to without

YOU CANT FLASH IT as it is.
you have to wait for a dev or SE.

Yes, I know!! What I meant was, even when someone comes up with options, I am not bothering, because I enjoy those options. I have just read though that SE has said their working on integrating it and we will get it as an update, so Ill just wait for that.

I don't like SE UI. Guess it consumes a lot of hardware resources.
I would like my Xperia X10 to run the system the HTC Desire runs, for instance.
I would like to change the whole thing.
Is it possible? How?
What OS would you install then?
Answer to all them questions
No it's not possible. You can change to a diffrent home menu. Try adw launcher. But thats about it
What your asking for is possible.. but not until the bootloader has been cracked and someone has created custom ROM based on HTC Sense, but with all of the drivers etc for the X10 hardware..
But I have to ask.. why didn't you buy a HTC if you prefer their UI?
Oh.. and I don't think that your theory.. "Guess it consumes a lot of hardware resources." is valid.. but just to be sure - which resources are you talking about?? Battery? Memory? Processor bandwidth?
u guys dont know how to answer that question cuz they didnt understand that but i do but i dont know how to do that.i also want to know that.but i know one thing u can update the original software by going to SE repair center.but u have to pay for it.in my country i have to pay $50

Why would you buy the X10 to begin with...? There's dozens of phones that come with stock Android.
To answer your (weird) question: No. Not until the bootloader is cracked and the devs make a new ROM.
I'm utterly confused by you.

In his defense: Timescape looks pretty good and it even works well enough for demo purposes. It's when you really start using the phone it becomes useless so it's an easy mistake to make.
But yeah, I'm confused too.

Oh, well.. Let's wait foi it then.
In Brazil, HTC are rare and I couldn't find any shops or carriers that sell them. On the contrary, Sony Ericsson is popular and has lots shops and technical assistance in case I need.

Especially battery and memory. But could I be wrong?
On the aesthetics side, I don't like the low customisation level that SE UI offers...

Listen... I'm not talking about updating. I'm talking about replacing completely. So that my SE Xperia X10 would look and behave just like an HTC.
You can find anything on Ebay, remember that...

I know it. But when it comes to a fairly expensive piece of equipment I would like to buy one from a brand which offers technical assistance in my country.
It will, but we still have to wait till they crack the boatloader and make SE hardware compatible with the 2.2 Froyo.
2.1 is coming this month sooo

You do realize that by replacing the OS on your phone, you lose that technical support, right?
Also, the amount of customization on the X10 is equal to any HTC phone. The beauty of Android means you can change things to look like you want them too. Just look at any theme thread. People have changed the notification bar, the font, the menu colors, and system icons. Has nothing to do with what phone they are using.

I'll take it in consideration.
You can see a massive speed up with AOSP
Games are smoother
Loading times are faster
Finally i feel like my x10 is working for me instead of against me.
The disabled video decoder does make the cpu use alot more battery watching video.
Once the Dual touch driver comes to light we will be in heaven.
Now if i could only find a deep black theme.
Notice anything not working? I'm trying to decide if I want to learn everything I need to do to install this.

Dude, calm down. It's more or less of a proof of concept. The devs made this very clear. Absolutely no one has any right to make a complaint whatsoever.
The devs don't owe anything to anyone.

Hi,
This was originally posted to Android Dev General and someone stated i should put this here as well.
As stated in the title I've got a SE Xperia Arc here. It's obvious you guys want the software on this thing. I can dump it, if someone can provide instructions. I am familiar with ADB, command line usage etc.
This has to be quick as I have to bring this baby back tommorow
Well, first of all, its a prototype, which means it's useless to flash onto retail devices. Second of all, you're bound to make someone lose their job Decisions decisions...

How is the Phone?
copy everything in your internal storage(/system etc.) of arc to your computer
would it not have had the drivers in the source though that may have been portable over to the X10 2.3.2 J&Z implementation
Yeah managed to adb pull the system.
Sorry about stating you guys could have the sofware, it's my job at stake if I'd share with you guys I'll see if I can cook something up with this.
The phone's fine, much better than X10i. It's the best SE & Android combo I've used. The new UI really looks cool and is smooth as silk. Build quality isn't that great, too much plastic for my taste. This one packs Android 2.3.2 and is atleast as fast as my Nexus S running stock. An excellent upgrade from X1. I'd love to give you guys some in-depth review with photos but unfortunately I'm in bit of a rush.

i don't have it the OP does not want to share the ROM because he would risk his job. Totally reasonable imo.
But if it is true, i think we could be able to port arc's applications into this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911364
Correct me if i'm wrong
Don't know if devs would be able to port or not, but why not wait for next month when phone's launched instead of asking the man to risk his job for something we could be getting in a month's time?
Best thing that you can do is dump the system. You can do this by issuing this command:
adb pull /system
once the device is USB Debugging Mode. This will really give us something to work with.
I would imagine that this would only be possible by using the kernel of 2.1 (the way that devs been using to port 2.2 and 2.3) as I don't think that SE would sign the certificate of arc with the same signature they signed the x10 so the only benefit of this is to get hold of SE add ons compared to 2.3 that j already ported
I would like to join the developers team at some point as I might have something to add, but I need to finish school in May as having 6 courses keeps my hands full...until then good luck to these guys for their impressive job and specially their dedication

I think so, thats why Sony has such a good bootloader protection. They want you to buy the new one instead of pimping your X10. In the end Sony wil fail this, I'ts a mather of time. It does keep the noobs away.
Is anyone out there using Drod's blurrybread rom? If so, is the CRT animation enabled? Or can I just use the same file I used for the stock gingerbread for it?
Yes. Yes. and Yes it works well.. ..I'm not sure what file your referring to for stock gingerbread though.
I was refering to the zip file that I flashed to enable it for the stock gb but since it's already there I wont need it. I'll be flashing as soon as I can
+1 for blurrybread.
My only complaint so far, is my swype license doesn't want to stick around after reboots and has to be regenerated.

well... that's a bumber. at least it didn't seem like he had done a ton with blurry bread anyway. hopefully someone with the skills will do the same. it was really just some "basic" tweaks to the base rom. nothing particularly major. i'd do it but don't have that level of skill... but surely someone out there will do something similar. i hope at least.
I need an app like Lumia Camera on Android and HTC has did it, they have an awesome app for taking photo.
