ICS Sources has been released! - GT540 Optimus General

Awesome news guys! So anybody going to start trying porting it for our devices ? I wonder can our silly GT540 run it :s

Wait a day or two before syncing the repo the source is still being transfered to the git archive
Sent from my GT540 using xda premium

sweet!!!! now if i can just be patient enough to wait now!

Great to hear that, but I don't think that ICS will run smoothly the GT540. I'm already planing to buy a Motorola Defy for using CM9.

Me I'm just waiting CM9 ^^

GB source was ~2.5GB big. ICS is almost 3 times. So I think it would be around 180 - 200 MB.
Sent from my LG GT540 Swift using XDA App

soruce is 10gb just after download and 35 after swift build
To developers:
Ics repo is using different device configs so quarx, mur4ik or any "ready" device folder won't work And framework audio files are not maching GB ones so i will need to use generice CA audio witch should work nice ... And I needed to add extra ram to even start the build ... 16gb of ddr3 is min and at least 4 cores at 4ghz is needed to build ICS fine
But anyways !
Let's roll :

It seems so. Are you wondering? Requirements a nearly the same as for gingerbread.
PS: Here is the article: Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Minimum Hardware Requirements

It says that ICS will work on any/most phone, do u think our phone will get an update to ICS
Sent from my GT540 using XDA App
I think our phones should get ICS update. But the real problem with our phone is, its RAM. With just 167 MB it wont be easy to deliver high performance and multi-tasking simultaneously. But I do feel that we too can get an update. If not, why are developers here for! Anyways, even if LG says we could get an update it would in next year that too, in March or April. Let's just hope! Cross fingers!!
Not likely to be offical so most likely AOSP or cm
Wats the difference between AOSP and offical? I dont think there is that much difference

Officials are ROMs that are made by developers assigned by original manufacturers.

I don't see how the amount of RAM would affect your purchase...
My recommendation is to stay away from this phone like the plague...
Low internal storage without GB makes this a phone a boat anchor
If your stuck with AT&T and want a hardware keyboard... go with a samsung captivate glide

GSMARENA.COM also said that The HTC Wildfire S has 512 MB of RAM, but in fact, It only has 418 M
It prolly has 512 but... the 100 missing is prolly memory that makes certain hardware features work

ok which version of miui is it? cause they dont directly list the flipside
I would assume without a working cm7... we don't have an miui rom
Sent from my MB508 using Tapatalk
well why say that and get us all excited? lol
There's an MIUI port based on laidaxin's CM7 rom, it's on the same Chinese forum as the CM7 rom. I believe it's fairly early in development, not really ready for daily use.
Why would you guys want MIUI...
CM7 is so much nicer, no?
Sent from my MB508 using Tapatalk
Well id have to say miui and cm are pretty much neck and neck... miui being a little heavier on the hardware end though

J is the 10th letter. CM10. That's how ALL cyanogenmod builds are named.
Edit: and jb is 4.1, it's not a new platform, just an "update" you could say so expecting it to look much different is just well stupid.

yeah, i'd be happy to see CM10 on Xperia Play. Google Now will be fun
hi all,
here a few things (didn't test myself, but i heard it from other devs)
it will use less ram
it is VERY smooth (scrolling, everything thanks to butter)
games will probably run better
and more ofcourse
and i thing: maybe sony will give it to us because it is faster it requires less ram (ics= 1024mb jb=512mb like the play has)
and it will be better for gaming!!!!

Defiantly looking forward to CM10 if it comes to the Play! Hoping for smoother and snappier interface!
Fun? Receiving bus stop times and canceled flight alerts is fun?

WOW What, 259mb free ram? Off a fresh install? That's crazy.. Slim Bean + marmite 6.7.11 isn't even close to 200mb free ram.
This version has the same auto rotate problems as Euroskank builds or that's only a problem with euroskank?

Just dirty flashed over the latest nightly and its much smoother than any other JB rom I've tried so far. Running with marmite kernel and its super smooth.

I believe they aren't referring to total available RAM but total free RAM after boot... 259MB sounds quite outrageous though!

Yep that's what I'm thinking. I get 407mb off Slim Bean + Marmite 6.7.10 but only 140mb free RAM. 259mb free ram is ridiculous lol
