Old Rumor "Samsung Galaxy S2 I9200" - Might be True !!!

i am sure you all remember after the release of Samsung Galaxy S, a Russian site disclosed information about proposed Samsung Galaxy S2 with following specs.
4.3” 1280x720px Super AMOLED 2 display
2GHz CPU,
1GB RAM/4GB ROM
32GB of built-in flash memory, +32GB microSD card slot
8 megapixel camera with FullHD video recording
A-GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n

Many thought that its fake or fan-boy gone crazy...well they must think again cuz samsung has announced some amazing news last day.
A "DUAL CORE A9 1ghz Processor"
The system-on-a-chip (SoC) is codenamed Orion, it is based on the dual-core Cortex-A9 architecture from ARM, and will have the cores running at 1GHz. Samsung claims it will be 5 times faster in graphics rendering than its current Hummingbird.
Full HD video recording and decoding at 30fps, support for cameras up to 18MP, and support for up to three displays simultaneously - two on the device itself, and one external HDTV, for example, via HDMI-out. The Cortex-A9 chipsets also should deliver 30% reduction in power consumption.

specs are just the max of what we could imagine. That's why I am skeptical. Talking about 3.0 when 2.2 is not final on the I9000 - that's a rather bad sign.

they will for sure give up on some specs when releasing the phone. and it will also depend on competitors product.
gingerbread is reality. android has already started spreading rumors abt Honeycomb (next version after gingerbread).

Whether the source is legit or not... I wouldn't be surprised if most of those specs are true.
We haven't heard of a "Super AMOLED 2" yet, but it would be a damn fine screen if it say, fixes the color banding on current pentile amoled (maybe use the RGBW I've heard about, that'd be awesome xD) and other issues (improve battery?)
Personally I think the current SGS size is perfect, so a 4.3" screen.. well they better have absolutely no wasted space around the screen lol.
It would also have to have hdmi out, either micro-hdmi or more likely the same connector as the galaxy tab.. and on that note, these specs sound very similar to the tab on steroids (tab already has confirmed gingerbread update + 1280x720 screen iirc).
If they release it (assuming it exists) in <6 months though, I think most of us would be a little mad though.. lol.
EDIT: OMG. maybe "Super AMOLED 2" could one of those foldable AMOLED screens... that would be pretty sweet haha!

If they can achieve the screen then nothing else listed is really that mindblowing, particularly if OPs sources are accurate (OP, I didn't read them, too busy). @Froyo/gingerbread, Froyo is supposedly ready in a fashion that they can use it (and have put lots of work into getting apps to scale) for the tab. It's fairly apparent that the Galaxy Tab has been the focus of their software department for the better part of a month, but we will reap part of those rewards even if it has partially delayed our Froyo...it's definitely not too early to talk about Gingerbread, particularly if Samsung can work with Google (Google might be very interested if they like the Galaxy tab) to become the next Google-Experience Device.

I agree on 4.0" being the sweet spot, then again, before big devices become in vogue I wanted the 5.0" Streak until SGS was announced.
In the other thread about this topic a user said, 4.3" makes the rumors less likely because why would Samsung switch sizes (I know that's not what you said but I'll paraphrase my reply to him anyways). ...'I completely disagree. First, perhaps it was too hard for them to fabricate 4.3" in a device that they expect to sell like the SGS. 2nd, what percentage of Samsung's customers will upgrade from a 4.0" to a 4.3" 6 months later, they are trying to hit a different niche that perhaps opted for the Evo or would prefer a 4.3" if they were out of contract.'
As far as the progression of smartphones go, the faster the better, make my device obsolete tomorrow and that means the newest ones are nearly literally mini-laptops...I wouldn't need one for the duration of my contract. I'd only be jealous of the screen, and that is a jealousy I can live with (and probably pay a premium to switch devices for). Everything else, I'd be able to live without, and I bought this device thinking "This is the one I won't worry about for a year." Shorten that to 6 months and touche Samsung, you've done your job and done it well. The way the smartphone market is these days if they don't do it someone else will (well, they prob cant do screens like these for at least 12 months).

wonder if sammy will have fixed the GPS on the current model by the time that S2 releases

Looks pretty awesome to me. I absolutely agree, 4" screen is perfect. 4"3 is a bit too wide, not as easy to hold in one hand.
But i mean, let's be real, all of this depends on the software they'll put in it. Samsung is getting much better at supporting their smartphones but still...
If this thing gets a good OS / support then it will kick ass (look at the X10 still on 1.6...)
AND, who knows what competition will have out by then. Maybe a new iphone 6 with even less buttons

Really wouldn't be any different than the 7.7 that's out right now except for the added 800mhz band. South Koreans use 800/1800 bands for LTE while Canada uses 700/2100 like the US, neither uses 800mhz at all.

The only notable thing there is that it's a 1.5GHz CPU. I wonder if that's a mistake or they are running a different SoC--I've never seen an Exynos stock clocked at 1500MHz, not that it's impossible but it seems unlikely, and that is a common clock rate for Snapdragon S3s (which appear in nearly every Samsung LTE device aside from the I815).

Does it have the infrared port that is missing in the international version?

So you don't think it's a big difference that they use different LTE bands so that the Korean version won't work on any North American LTE data networks? Good luck with that.

I can't see a compelling reason for anyone in the U.S. to buy a $600+ Galaxy S III over a $400 no contract Galaxy Nexus...
Once the carriers get there hands on it the SIII will be stripped down like crazy to a dual core and has the same screen as the Nexus so why bother?

the only massive disappointment for me was the design. the back looks like my sgs 1 while the front looks like the nexus.
however, to says its a minor upgrade like that of the 4s is completely moronic. but dont see the sgs 3 selling as much as the sgs 2.
dont know if i should buy this phone or get a gtx 690.

Looks like I will be sticking with my GN for awhile longer. I see no reason to jump to this unless they have found some way to make the battery life a hell of a lot better than the GN for the nice screen.
A 2100 battery though doesn't inspire confidence.

Samsung Galaxy S III for Verizon keeps its design intact

Verizon is one of the five carriers to start offering the Samsung Galaxy S III this month and leaked pictures show that the device will virtually be an untouched version of its international GSM sibling.Android Central got their hands on some photos of the Galaxy S III for the Big Red, which, excluding the 4G Verizon logo on the back, is the same as the GSM model of the device. The only difference is it runs on a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 chipset with 2GB of RAM.
Samsung have decided not to alter the Galaxy S III as much as they did with the Galaxy S II lineup last year and launch the device with the same outfit as everywhere else. This seems to be the case with the US-bound T-Mobile version and the one sold by AT&T, as well.
Speaking of launch, it's yet unclear when Verizon is going to put the Galaxy S III on the shelves, but it will surely be sometime this month.

2GB of RAM is nice, but I'd rather have a quad-core Exynos since I'm a gamer and that's a big selling point of the Galaxy line.

When the S3 is released this month presumably before the new data plans roll out, will I be able to keep my grandfathered unlimited plan?

hey guys not sure if i should get this phone... im sad it will not have the overclocked Mali400 400mhz GPU.... but i know the S4 CPU with the andreno 225 is a beast, i held off the GN on big red cause of the old powervr540 GPU WTF but i know ICS is much better of using the GPU instead of 3.2 and below mostly using the CPU for graphics processing... im a big gamer , thats why i use the iphone4s i love the powervr543mp2 its badass... so... what should i get? i kinda wanna wait for the LG eclipse i hear it comes with the adreno 320, that alone makes me giddy or does any one know of any phones coming out with the exynos 5250? i hear that Mali-t604 GPU can walk all over the PowerVR544mp4 in the ipad3 so anyone please help... should i wait for phones with the next Gen GPUS ,adreno 320 and Mali-t604? or will my gaming needs be met with the GS3 with the S4 CPU running the adreno 225 GPU? im ready to get rid of my Iphone4s... but i still want the same graphics performance of the powerVR543mp2 in my iphone 4S , i love the idea of android and i cant wait to leave the dark side of apple!!!! If you go ahead and pre-order you will be able to keep your Unlimited. Tiered plans are supposed to begin July 1st, so anytime before then should be fine.

Developers never ever use the highest end hardware when designing their games because of exactly why you're worried. They'll always use the hardware that's the most friendly and easily-sourced in favor of something that is completely different like the Mali GPUs (which is more reserved for tablets anyways if theory comes to fact). Mali is still unproven whereas Adreno is easily sourced. I'll put money that developers will favor Adreno for some time until.

The exception to your statement is of course the Tegra platform, which has versions of games optimized specifically for it. But in general you're correct. The Mali is significantly more powerful than the S4, although in real-world usage the difference would be negligible.

Does the VZW version with the Snapdragon MSM8960 radio have LTE on the actual SOC. Or is the LTE radio on a separate chip like the Bionic and Galaxy Nexus? Basically is there any battery saving with this radio by having the LTE on the SOC itself instead of a stand alone chip set.

Very true but with the growth of mobile gaming today, developers must use next Gen GPUs for example the Malit628 will have native support for open CL, 3D hi Res, multi threading and 64 bit... Look at TV now there will be ultra definition which will make 1080p look like my original Nintendo game boy in the 90s... So smart phones will follow suit... Look at LGs new super phone the eclipse, 5 inch display 440 ppi ! And has an adreno 320 GPU apple knows how important a smooth graphic interface is... Apple has always used high power GPUs in their Ipad and iPhones, look at ICS Google finally use integrated hardware and graphical acceleration in the ICS operating system, u can tell the difference on how smooth 4.0 is compared to 2.3 and 3.0 the future looks good right about now....its the waiting that is killing me lol

Samsung phones are ALWAYS rootable. They allow it. In fact, the bootloader just gives you a warning but lets you.

New Jolla Phone Announcement 20/05/13

some people in different countries represent the date in different ways, I did day/month/year as I am from UK.

4.5" screen (unknown resolution at this time, known to be HD so either 720p or 1080p
dual core processor (unknown clock speed)
unknown RAM
unknown GPU
8mp AF camera
seems to have a front facing camera of unknown mp count.
replaceable battery

disappointed that it is not quad core but as the OS is based on C++, efficiency will be much better than Android, providing the RAM is of decent size and the GPU is good, it shouldn't make that much difference speed wise, also doesn't seem to have a qwerty keyboard (only reason why I thought it would is that, one of the guys at Jolla in an interview, stated that more phones should have a physical qwerty keyboard.)

disappointed that it is not quad core but as the OS is based on C++, efficiency will be much better than Android, providing the RAM is of decent size and the GPU is good, it shouldn't make that much difference speed wise, also doesn't seem to have a qwerty keyboard (only reason why I thought it would is that, one of the guys at Jolla in an interview, stated that more phones should have a physical qwerty keyboard.)

Quad core doesn't really matter in Android as the OS itself currently only supports 2, apps have to specifically use the extra cores, and only a few games do. I believe KLP is supposed to change that to "N" cores (along with full Intel support). Because Android used a VM, it is RAM that makes the biggest difference. That is why iOS and WP7/8 are so smooth with much lower RAM than Android.
I have read, and anyone can correct me on this, that KLP is the start of moving away from Dalvik and will support ARM and x86 natively with fat binaries. This is the rumour why KLP was not released at I/O, because they are re-writing the OS as native.
As you mentioned, Sailfish is a native OS, it won't need as high of specs as Android, which also means cheaper phones (in theory).

I was just saying future proof wise, if their OS supports Quad-Core, and they provide one in their first phone, they could just stick with this phone for a while, as it wouldn't need to be updated yearly, to keep with the competition. The phone as of the last time I checked had the equivalent price of £350, which is more than a Nexus 4, and yet that has a quad core processor, I have mentioned that to Jolla via their support page, and will be releasing more details as the release date gets closer, the main thing that was a huge turn off for me was not the Quad Core processor as much but the MASSIVE Bezel around the 4.5" screen, but then found out that the final design of the phone will have a smaller bezel, as mentioned by the lead designer at Jolla.

If they want anyone to buy their phone, it just has to be cheaper. Nokia made pretty good inroads with their Lumia devices by making them very inexpensive (and often free) on contract. Windows Phone is now at 5% market share, and it is almost entirely Lumia devices. With Jolla being former Nokia people, hopefully they will understand this instead of making the mistake Palm did with the Prē
