Hi,
has anyone get the auto dock trigger (by USB pin like in WM 6.5) work in Andoid builds and can help me to enable this?
A car dock panel should be auto-open if I put the HD2 in its car dock.
Thanks,
Patrick
What about something like Tasker? if it's placed on it's left side turn on GPS location & start navigation?
Mh, its an idea, but if I hold the phone left-sided without the dock, the navigation will start, too. I have no bluetooth in car, so I cannot use this as trigger but I have the original car dock which trigger the device in win mobile.
There Android-native HTC devices have working car modes but the adopted ROMs for the HD2 builds, don't. Shouldn't it be possible to adjust this for de HD2 device?
Unfortunately I have no competences in Android programming, so I don't know how the car mode is handeled and where it could be customized to work with my device
Is there someone in the great big world who has a car holder, too and programming knowledge with android to add this functionality in the system?
Hi all,
im came from the 9001 forum to ask you a little question: is it possible to change the kernel for ivendor or arcor to switch into the car mode automatically like its on the stock-roms?
Is there any kernel for the 9000 who have this option?
Wondering if anyone tried it with the note 3? I read another forum that someone was able to get it working with a S3. I am using tectiles NFC with Trigger (aka NFC task launcher) so I can create the car dock action when using the NFC tag. But it seems that it would enable the car dock mode as well as handsfree mode which basically goes into s-voice. When I disable the handsfree mode, the phone doesn't seem to be in car dock mode even though it tells me to tap to disable car dock mode.
Need help please.
Thanks
Depending on if you want to use voice input as part of your car mode or not, you could try the voice app Dragon and then use an NFC Tag to trigger opening that app when you enter your car. Otherwise, I believe by nature car dock mode would be hands free mode since you're not supposed to be messing with your phone while driving. Another option if you never use S-Voice is to go into your list of all applications and Disable S-Voice. I have S-Voice disabled on my phone since I never use it. Doesn't negatively impact anything. Worth a try...
Has anyone figured out if there is a car mode available for the LG G2 on T-Mobile? I just got a Verizon car dock that can activate the little window mode thingy via a magnet, but there does not seem to be a native car mode app. Why would someone design a phone that does not have a car mode??
I've not been able to find any car mode in the T-Mobile variant. Logically, it would have been under the "Accessory" setting.
I'm simply running tasker, and set it so when the device is powered and connected to the "SYNC" bluetooth connection, that it autoloads Car Home Ultra (IMO, the best car dock app available). When it disconnects from my bluetooth, it kills Car Home Ultra.
That's how I have it set up currently... Just curious if anyone had figured out anything that wasn't a workaround to having a native car mode. BTW, the car home ultra can launch on bluetooth connect without using tasker.

I have figured out quite a bit in the last 24 hours regarding car mode, however my information come from playing around with the verizon varient. Maybe it can help though.
1) Car mode is definately activated by a magnet as apposed to an NFC tag as has been suggested. About 1" down on the left edge of the screen is the sweet spot (front and back of phone). The polarity of the magnet determines if it switches to car mode or flip case mode (that is, flip the magnet over and it will activate the other function or don't flip the magnet and move it from the front to back of the phone).
2) The navigation button only links to verizon's navigation software (which I have disabled) and does not prompt for an app to choose. I even tried installing a 3rd party, non-google app and still no dice. A work around for this is to open the map (which links to google maps) and search for a location to initiate navigation.
3) Once in CarHome, there is a setting to have car mode activate when connected to a selectable bluetooth device (must be connected to choose it). This would seem like a great opportunity to be able to use car mode with no dock at all, but... when trying it, car mode did activate, but it immediately closed. I figure either LG or, more likely, Verizon modified the app or has another service to shut it down to force people to buy the dock.
4) I modified a bracketron mount I had to locate a magnet in the right location to activate car mode. I used a tiny magnet that came off one of those pushpin looking magnets.
5) I installed a third party app for the car mode and when I place the phone in the dock it does provide a choose app list, so this is a good thing. If the other varients don't have the specific stock app, they could still have the service running that would recognize the car mode activation and prompt to use the 3rd party app.
6) Some people have suggested that car mode is not available in jellybean 4.2.2, but what the case is is that previously in car mode the home button would return to car mode, but now the home button returns to home. This presents an issue with the stock app because it doesn't show up in the recent app list, so the only way to get it back is to pull the phone from the dock and put it back in. The 3rd party apps show up in the recent app (and can be launched from the app drawer for that matter) so this isn't an issue in this situation.
Think thats is about it. Don't know if the right people will look at this post, but it would be nice if people smarter than I could figure out how to make the navigation button allow selecting other apps and also how to prevent the activation by bluetooth from closing out. I know there are other options out there, but the stock app is simple and the processes are already running on the phone so I don't need other apps eating up battery. I also have a GPS sitting right next to it, so I don't really need it to be trying to maintain a GPS lock constantly like other apps do.
Hope this helps.
Those are all VERY helpful insites. I will have to try them when I get off work. Thanks for the help! :good:

Another thing i noticed car mode does is enable the landscape lockscreen. Again, this can be accomplished by many other tweaks out there.
I grew accustomed to Car Home Ultra when I was on my Galaxy S3 through Straight Talk. So, I was kinda bummed when I moved to AT&T and purchased the Galaxy S5 Active and found that AT&T had their own launcher that they wanted me to use. I rooted the device and went through all the steps to get the default car mode enabled, but that too enables Samsung's car mode app. Is there any way to get Car Home Ultra to load instead when I turn on Car Mode? There doesn't seem to be a default application option. On the S3, I would open Car Mode Control and the first time it configured, it let me pick the car mode home launcher I wanted to use, so I was easily able to choose Car Home Ultra. It didn't do that on the S5, either before I rooted and modded, or after.
I was able to get it to work after some tweaking. Seems that Android 4.2+ either intentionally or through a bug disabled it. The Car Home Ultra developer implemented a patch for the app as a separate install to override the system settings. So it works for Car Home, but the issue is still present in the underlying Android code. Other apps might have similar fixes, but I'm happy with the results here.
