Donate for a working port of CM7.x - Gen8 General

Hello altogether,
I'm really hoping for a fully working port of CM7.x for our Archos Internet Tablet - and I'm willing to spend some money for it!
The Bull-release seems to be a good way, but it also seems that a lot of work has to be done.
Maybe we are able to convince the CM-team to develop a CM7-port that's working "out-of-the-box" without any limitations?
What do you think?
Best regards
cool400v

Well - I don't think u have to "convince" anyone... it's original what they want I think.
The reason why it's not wokring fully atm isn't the afford they put on imho.
Everyone has limited spare time...
But for now you also could help them in heavily testing and doing good bug reports like divx118 described in the related Bull RC thread.
Just installed Linux again some days ago to try to get my hands on comipling cyano so I can perhaps help em some day - but my time is also very limited atm..
Well they propably appeciate getting money but it wouldn't really speed up anything - but ask them not me
Btw - why didn't you start with a good example - telling a number?
(that's what I'm used to if people start such threads here at xda )
And: u should have started this in "general" forum - as this is not about development - just about money

Additionally there is allready the possibility to Donate.

Should I carry on with Touch-Innovation

Hey,
Some of you may know the website: www.touch-innovation.com
I'm not going to advertise it's features - because that's not what I'm here for.
I'm basically wondering if anyone still uses it, or would still use it. And whether it warrants mine and others time to get it running properly again.
I've neglected it the past few months, mainly because of my work, i'm only 16 and my GCSE's are a month or 2 away. So it's a big time.
I think I can get it going again, make it more popular, get more programs etc. But only if people will use it. So do you think it's worth my valuable time at the moment?
And if there's anyone willing to help out, if you think it's worth it, now the time is to ask.
Thanks guys
Wonderful effort esspecially considering your age and other commitments.
I personally believe if you can do it and get high grades then do, but remember your GCSEs are very important university's and colleges will look at them and even more so employers. So be wise .
I'm in uni so I talking from my own experience know how important GCSEs can be to "success" then and "success" later.
Hey Napbree
It is a wonderful site and you can find all finger touch applications for PPC. I think that you should continue with the site and if you need any help in maintaining "Count Me In"
Well, i keep visiting it every week because it has good info.
Cheers mate.

exactly....the GCSEs are definitely what should be more important for you right now, whether that means to take a break from the site or to shut it down completely for the time being.....
Education should definately be the prioriy. But i also think you should try to keep the site going and let us help you in anyway we can. Ill start adding and updating software today. Maybe getting a few more people on board would help us out also?. Touch innovation has come along way, and it would be great to see it continually get better. But again, your future comes first. Thanks for letting me help on your site N.
dschoenike (Derek)
This is a Dev Related forum and this thread doesent belong here
(joking..) i agree with them, Studies first, later you'll have all the time for this
I agree with the rest. I'm in college right now and I can tell you, you will need good marks especially if your going to an institute. You've made a great site at an age that not many people (myself included) would even try to create much less maintain. School comes first though and trust me getting good on those GCSEs will help you immensely.
Im not sure of whats all involved with maintaning a website technically-wise, but could you like, put someone else in charge of it while you're taking care of more important priorities? My apologies for a probably silly question, but im just trying to help ya figure out keeping touch innovation going. Love that site
dschoenike
is tha site gone ? im geting: " Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '?' in /home/.axle/brennn/mobile.touch-innovation.com/index.php on line 1358 " When trying to access... dont think iv ever been to tha site.. will keep an eye out 2 see if it comes back..
Lol, the site works mate.. and its a very good site mind you, its just a little clustered like this forum on occasions and just needs some more organisation but none the less its definitely worth while if you can get each developer to post there apps there.
Also.. when did this forum become boredofstudies.org? O_O
Sorry for the mobile.touch-innovation.com, my error. Fixed now.
I think i've decided that because of all the work i've put into the site (site is coded from base up, not based upon anything.) and that I had already started another beta (where the design was re-hauled, and a load of new features + orginisation filters etc) that I am going to carry it on, but not let it take priority. So when I have 5-10 mins, I'll just code some more, or optimise it etc. After I;ve finished all of my c/w of course.
Any suggestions, and anyone looking to help out, post in here, and I'll get to you at some point. I;m off to bed, night

thanks for this cool site

i think you need to delegate some of the duties of the website. but i generaly like the layout and have used it befor
nice effort keep it up
shouldn't GCSE be year end, or is it not?
Regardless, I agree with the rest, that your studies is more important at this point. It's always good to venture into something you like, above studies, but when it comes to examination like GCSE, you just have to priortise them accordingly.
The thing is, windows mobile plan to release a online store for all win mobile applications, so that means my little revenue will drop even more. And my laptop has now broke.. Not good.
Site is not working anymore, so was the decision to focus on education made and the site shut down?

Android on the Samsung Omnia!

Hey People!
I've got a Samsung Omnia and I would really really like to have Android on the Omnia, but unfortunately I'm not really technical enough to be able to port Android to the Omnia myself. Searching on the net for an 'installer of android' I saw that I am not the only one wanting this, so I decided to start an initiative; www.AndroidOmnia.com
The person or organisation who manages to get Android working on the Samsung Omnia will get all the money that we are able to bring together. We currently have $276.43 contributed by people who also want Android on the Omnia. We hope that this incentive will get more developers to devote some energy to it!
Of course we are looking to raise a lot more money since all that hard developing work should be rewarded! So If you also support this cause please visit www.AndroidOmnia.com and contribute some money as well!
Looking forward to get Android on my Omnia!
This is a great Idea!
But i have a question:
While reading the "Rules" i was wondering there is no "Timeline".
(or i just didnt read carefully?)
If no one is contributing an Android-Port in the next Years, what will you do with the Money? Buy the new Samsung Android-Phone for yourself?
Maybe you should set a Date until it should be delivered and if the date passed without an Android-Port, donators get most of their money back. (of course there are some transfer-costs)
If you do so, i will donate something too.
@ z3ntn3l
That is indeed a valid point. I didn't really think of that. I just figured it must happen sometime or another..
I'll add it to the website as soon as I have some more time for it. What kind of timeline do you think is reasonable. 1 year? 6 months?
So there is actually people working on this? You can't really make a timeline if you dont have a developer or a team of people working from one repository.
Well yeah. I agree. That is why I didn't set a timeline in the beginning. But since z3ntn3l said that would be better I was thinking it would be nice to the people who donate money.
On the other side, it would be bad as well if a person or organisation is working hard to get things going and they miss the deadline. I would then already have paid all the money back to the people who contributed and the person developing would be left with nothing.
I think it is better that I don't set a timeline at this point. If nothing really seems to be happening after more than half a year I will be more than happy to pay the money back to the people who contributed. I hope this will give you enough security to contribute anyway z3ntn3l..
Are there for the rest any tips how I can get this more in the publicity or anything else..? I would love to get into contact with people who are interested in porting Android..
well, i think six months is a good date.
If there is a serious developer/project who needs more time, can contact you and you can post that info on your site.
by the way, where are you from? Europe/U.S.?
by the way 2: wrote this from my Omnia
Six months could maybe be a good time. But I guess what I'll do is put a line in the FAQ that in the case of an absence of activity on this project after a reasonable time (6 months), all contributors will get their money back. Would that be friendly to both developers and contributors?
btw. I am from the Netherlands..
How about this article?
I also wanted to know how to flash omnia windows mobile os to android.
And, I searched this article now, but I don't know this is possible.
I don't have omnia phone now..but maybe some weeks later, I could have it.
So, could you test this article? It is below.

Calling all fellow developers for Xperia X2 custom rom/app development

Dear Fellow X2 Users,
I have been reading through all main sections (there are only 3 lol) of the X2 subforums and cannot help noticing how much more threads/sections and more importantly more development is being done on the older Xperia X1.
For me I see this as ironic that an older model is being tweaked more when internally they both have similar hardware.
I would summarize the X2 as a well designed device on the outside with a bad software system. We have gotten as far as getting rid of the junk that SE has put as "wrappers" to give it some eye-candy. We have made it usable and we have made the battery last longer. I am a programmer who believes that anything is possible if we use what is availabe to make amazing solutions.
Looking at windows mobile 7 although it promises fancy games and fancy social connectivity I do not think many professionals will consider those as useful. So I do not think the Xperia X2 is dead. I think it is like Knight Rider's car without Kit installed yet!
To the point (finally! I hear some of you say) why not make a team just like the htc developers have and work on some alternatives to minimal X2(skip default cabs) and bugged X2(default)? If we cannot cook roms, I say make some custom set of cabs that get the job done. I see so many good cabs in the forums: fm radios, handwriting recognition (kudos to fadi.b), the multifix cab, and an overclocking cab that boosts speed to 1000Mhz! (in some cases) and so many other I can't remember at the moment. We need to combine what we have into something better than the original X2 software.
I know I have not participated in these forums much, but believe me I have played around with the X2 just like the rest of you. I am asking for a concerted developmenteffort so we can solve the many issues mentioned by the X2 community.
Why not have development sections? A WinMo section is definitely a must.
Or an Android section like X1? A features request sticky inside these too would be good for everyone. We have to share some crucial information so a thread for this is important as well, e.g. keymappings, APIs, etc.
It is my hope that after reading this more people will try to approach the challenge of customizing the X2 in a more organized and successful way. Instead of deciding who should start, I think we should focus on how we ourselves can make it work!
To the Forum Mods: I have placed this in general section because imo it regards X2 as a whole and not specifically for ROM development or apps, rather a combination of both.
Totally agree with you!
I am agreed with you.
Please any programmer or developer contribute your specialist and skill here.
But,I am noobs with the software programmer...
I think we should make a new thread and see how many people would be willing
to put some money to offer the developer of the Hard-Slp.
i hope !!!!
Guys check this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=716798
I also agree with you.
Please developers must take initiative to make x2 successfull.
im with you too guys, but i know that most developers prefer htc phones over other phones so you see many great stuff in htc forums ... so i thing a big motive for developers is to make abouny for hard spl and this will really attract developers ... sorry for my bad english
This is HTC hardware.
Second,i will donate or pay for any hardspl that would make this thing usable.
I do not have enough time to devote into "modding" ripping the software until i come out with an usable x2,so i would gladly pay to get something to put on this usefull 500$ phone.
I think that like me are many users that would give to say at least 10-20 euro for something to make this crap work better.
Kind regards to all and i'm still hoping to see something done for my X2.

Hi hi! Sorry for falling off the edge of the internet platform! (was busy ).
Good news! Got myself a new X2 hehehe. Yes am serious about getting this from piece of mediocre communication device to at least X1 status!
K, I will summarize what is required to develop applications for the X2 and Windows Mobile phones in general:
1. Development Environment to make programs: Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 or Sharp Develop IDE. Search on Google to find more
2. HEX Editor to analyze/break apart data: No idea yet! Still searching for an updated one. Maybe Hex Workshop. Got an old version of that somewhere.
3. Registry Editor: CeRegistryEditor, Awesome registry editor for playing around with registry key settings. It uses ActiveSync and you change settings on your computer.
Will update this list when I find out or remember more items.
Good day to you all and please, don't give up!

I have come across this some time ago and it is what I mentioned in my first post about a minimalist X2 (no unnecessary things). I have been there and although it is nice to have a phone that works I would like a phone that works AND looks and works beautiful!
Hope you see what I see now ^^. Not iPhone killer lol, just something better than what we have now.

Our phone is not dead!!!!

*Please no one delete this thread! It is really important!*
Hi everyone!
I am here to tell you guys about our phone.
Yes, the title says everything; our phone is not dead!
What do you think? Just because Huawei is not supporting this phone anymore doesn't mean that our phone is dead!
Look! We have achieved great things with our knowledge! We have already have Android that wasn't given to us by Huawei:
- CM 7.2
- Aurora ICS
- MIUI
- Oxygen
- JokerROM
- and lots of others!
(Thanks to all those developers that have contributed their efforts for the sake of our phone!)
Huawei is not supporting us, but every person in our community is supporting each other.
I know we are lacking developers, but we still have great developers: DZO (he's a bit sleepy), forumber2, Blefish, MosTERRA, ezet, and anyone else I have missed!
We still have developers, but not once have I read anyone commenting anything positive about our phone. Not once anyone has told someone else that our phone is dying/dead. Always, everyone here has said our phone is finished.
Come on guys! Don't say this! Always try to say good things about our phone. By saying bad things about our phone, you are discouraging other people, and most importantly the Developers, from keeping the phone.
Please stop discouraging Developers and others! Instead, encourage others to gather knowledge and start building some ROMs!
Yes, I would encourage all of you here to start gathering knowledge about android and start building some MODs, Themes, ROMs, etc, for our phone!
NEVER AGAIN I WOULD WANT TO SEE A COMMENT THAT SAYS NEGATIVE THINGS ABOUT OUR PHONE!!!!
You're right and in general I agree with you but this sub-forum is only to post ROM's preferably tested and without bugs. You should move this to General section or ask to mods to do that. Blefish is working on CM 10 and we (non-developers) need to wait.
Cheers.
to say our phone is "dead" is not negative as i perceive it.. its just a plain fact..
in this fast-changing technology world, our phone already did its job very well..
my u8800 has just passed its 2-year mark, and though its just become my second-line support phone in this month, its still of great value to me..
(big compliment to our great developers!)
HOWEVER, the phones is already over 2 years old, and this is a very old age in technology world (and also considering its lack of official support)..
if everyone just refuses to proceed forward, we are probably still playing/flashing mods for our beloved transistor radio (if thats even possible)!
[edit]
with the above said, i do not mean to discourage any further development effort on this phone..
i actually welcome such activities very much honestly..
its just that ppl should also recognise those of us who try to move forward with newer and more powerful phones..

Our main problem is the just the lack of developers as I already said before, because saying our phones is old fashioned it ain't true, for an example the Huawei Ascend G300, imo that phone is not that far away from our phone in hardware and capability (and also it was release in May of 2012), but still it already has CM9, CM10, CM10.1, thats my point of view, we can't all have the same opinion. I just don't have the skill to do such things in the Android area, if I had I would work on this awesome device.
It's not dead, but it's been on life support for a very long time, now. Blefish is the only active, transparent developer this device has going for, and even he doesn't have public releases yet and encounters numerous issues. There is no real Jellybean for this device, regardless of the fact that the hardware is capable, and so for all intents and purposes it is dead, for the time being. But that could change.
Regardless, this is a terrible thread and if you want to help you shouldn't spam this forum. There are specific forums for this sort of inane garbage.
I think it's dead anymore since we can't go through jellybean. There are only 2 person as i know who have coding knowledge;dzo and blefish.Besides we haven't seen a working wifi for jellybean both of them;so this makes the phone dead,in my view.
i think the points are quite clear now.. in android world, a phone is "dead" if there is not much active development/support for the latest updates going around (either officially or from individuals)..
[edit]
OP, just did a search and found out that u ported a xperia style rom to our phone, so that makes u a developer of this phone.. thx for the work..
(though another GB rom does not interest me that much.. )
I'd like to point out that just because I haven't released a rom does not mean I am not working on it. Just hang on as there is awesome stuff coming up!
I know I am not the fastest developer around, but I always try to do things "properly". Of which I mean I try to provide good code that would be reusable in the future.

Would just like to clarify something
No. Our phone will never be dead, as long as we have devs working on it.
I would also like to point out something:
Just because I ported Xperia Style GB ROM, doesn't mean I have become a developer. BUT at least I am trying to build JB for our device. Yes, I have downloaded the CM10 source and have started building it. Since this is the first ever ROM I will build, which is why I am getting help from Blefish (thanks a lot Blefish. I really appreciate your efforts).
I am trying my best to keep this project going, but I have my studies and other important things (won't mention because they are personal). It is my second last year in High School, so I don't get much time (i'm sorry).
I WOULD STILL LIKE TO ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO GATHER KNOWLEDGE AND START BUILDING FOR OUR DEVICE. WE NEED AS MUCH DEVELOPERS AS POSSIBLE WORKING ON THIS DEVICE!
I know gathering the knowledge is hard, but we have the Q&A section where you can ask something whenever you are stuck. Please step forward and start working!
Thanks for understanding.:good:

HD2 is dead and it still has developers.
It's not developing, it's passed on. This phone is no more. It has ceased to be. It's expired and gone to meet its maker. This is a late phone. It's a stiff. Bereft of life, it rests in peace. If we haven't bought it , it would be pushing up the daisies. It's run down the curtain and joined the choir invisible. This is an ex-phone. Capisci?

ok i take back my previous recognition of u as a developer.. now you are a developer-to-be for this great phone.. (honestly, no sarcasm attached.. )
and while i think u8800 is dead, u see it as a living pal.. no problem.. case closed.. (no sarcasm, again..)
now back to business.. i would very much be happy to see a jb rom created and surely would give it a try in my u8800..
i just hope u can keep this enthusiasm and keep working on this jb-rom-to-come..
honestly speaking, having enthusiasm on something and start working on it are not that difficult.. its the persistence and patience (in dealing with obstacles) that make the difference..
good luck and hope to hear from u soon.. :good:

Hey,
I just don't understand something so i want to ask you. I am following you on twitter and see that it is really not easy making kernel 3.4. I just want to know, wouldn't it be easier if you just use the 3.0.8 kernel that we already have and maybe tweak it a bit? 3.0.8 should work with CM10. I just don't see the point of triing so hard to make the new kernel for CM10. Let's look in the future and if you release your rom in 2 months for now there will not be so many people that would find it usefull because many of U8800 users are already switching to new devices. And in may there is coming KLP.
Thanks for clarification! :good:

I understand what you are trying to say to Blefish.
I'll tell you. May it be 3.0.8 or 3.1 kernel, the story is the same: no Bluetooth and no WiFi. The 3.0.8 will need to be made compatible with CM10, but making WiFi and Bluetooth work will still won't be easy. That's why it is better to work on 3.1 kernel when you know that both kernels have the same story.
I hope you understand.
My phone is not dead!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok i understand that wifi and bt do not work with 3.0.8 and cm10, but blefish said in one thread that it is just a matter of configuration and is not nearly as hard as making a new kernel. I think blefish could make it work with 3.0.8.

Yes, it is a matter of configuration.
All we have right now are the drivers from Aurora and the drivers from official Huawei ROMs. To make CM10, the drivers need to be taken from an older ROM and put into CM10. Now, it is not just a matter of copy-pasting. Our current drivers are not compatible with JB. Blefish has made some things working. The biggest problem is the WiFi. The old WiFi drivers need to be made compatible with CM10, and this is the hardest part. This is why there has been no one, yet, who has been able to do this.
No matter what kernel it is, may it be 3.0.8 or 3.1, the WiFi drivers need to be made compatible with CM10.
I think oguzhan mobile was able to fix the WiFi to the extent where it actually turned on, but it wouldn't scan. I don't know why he stopped development. I am not sure what kernel oguzhan mobile was using, but I think it was 3.0.8. I think you might be right that it would be easier for our phone to use the 3.0.8 kernel, but I think the 3.1 kernel would run better with CM10.1.
If you really want to know why Blefish wouldn't use 3.0.8 kernel, then you would need to Blefish himself. I have already said what I think, but I am not sure if I am right.
I am going to give it a try with 3.0.8 kernel. It might be easier than 3.1 kernel. I'll just have to find out
I like the way you talk....
Waiting for JB...

Who Supports A New Kernel Multiboot!!

Hello Friends From XDA!
The Intension Of This Post,
is collecting signatures (or orders) to know how many users want to have a multiboot kernel (GB / ICS / JB)
as the current and (Turbo Kernel 3.1) but more stable and with better performance ..
Users who want to, and they would like a kernel so ..
please do so knowing in this post ..
if possible then we'll ask the developers,
to see if any are encouraged, or have time to continue with the development of (turbo kernel 3.1)
which still has some bugs and lacks optmizar a little more for performance ..
PS: I think we can have (GB / ICS / JB) installed simultaneously is one of the most brilliant things we've had for our device, not it???
Really, do you think that the multiboot thing that is not developed for months will be restarted only because you do a poll and ask to someone else to do the work?

No one will do what you want, if you want to get this problems fixed, just learn C and kernel programming and do it for yourself, don't forget that people have a real life...
Wow this thread didnt go as the op intended lol but people need to be realistic. Im sure evryone would like to see a kernel like this. Anyways my play seems to have finally died (i think its the flex cable) so until im back in the usa i cant fix it and by then i might just not bother
@gangstermartorell & @[email protected] , I think you have no right to make that kind of comment, if someone does not like the idea, or do not sign the petition and ready .. the only ones who have the right to complain if the developers do not like the idea .. or sorry! you are developers?? no ... lol.
ah! and @ abdel12345, thanks for your comment. and sorry about your Xplay .. : (.. I just came a few days you thinking of buying a flex, to have spare just in case, and now with this that happened to you .. and I am convinced ..
I keep my Xplay much longer .. and now I see PPSSPP progress, and future NDS emulator (DRASTIC) even better ..
And do you have any right to demanding such thing to people? I think that these threads have to be deleted because are extremely contained with SPAM.

I think you did not understand the intention of the post .. the intention of the post.'s collecting signatures to see if people would like a kernel multiboot .. and then if people support the idea.
Please ask the developers .. and if you do not want any problems .. no .. this all more than good. no intension to demand anything from anyone .. is more, the developer (DiKeJ) .. very kindly said he'd be happy, (when I have free time) to support this idea .. and what's more, they also help to several developers would ask as (extremetempz & Wegdess)
Wedgess already said that he will not work to the multiboot things months ago cause this is the work of cosmicDan, so it is also a form of respect for him.
Extremetempz, really I will not start any flame, but looking his thread (not haved time to look his github, maybe I am wrong) seems to me more a user that recompile sources and add some overclock than a kernel developer, so I don't think that he can/will pick up this work.
Sorry if I say something that you don't like, but what we are saying sadly is the reality, our board haven't a lot of skilled developers, we have only some ports from the mogami board, so don't expect so much

We don't need a multiboot kernel, we just need a 3.x.x kernel, which would allow us to have a working and smooth android 4.3 on our xperia plays
