Here's the problem:
Updated DVP mango using the leaked build on my own computer. Updated Dell firmware post mango on a friends computer. Now cannot connect to phone using my own computer, says phone not recognized. Tried reinstalling windows but that doesn't help. Reinstalled zune that doesn't help either. (ofcourse if windows reinstall didn't help ). Went to devmgmt.msc and reinstalled drivers from zune drivers directory but that didn't help either.
Reset my phone but no luck as it was reset to Mango when I actually bought it with Nodo.
Can anyone help please!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=886431 does not work for me. Neither does: http://ambassadors.xbox.com/en-us/Pages/xbox-live/troubleshoot/zune-sync-devices-wizard.aspx
This is why you don't install leaked builds or beta builds.
Reboot your phone into the bootloader (hold vol - and power)
Download the WP7 Update Cab Sender from the Dev and Hacking Forums
Download the mango update cab from the Dev and Hacking Forums as well (there is a list of cabs and there is one SPECIFC to the dell venue pro)
Use the WP7 Update Cab Sender to update your phone.
Cross your fingers.
Hi,
Thanks a lot:
Forgot to mention the following: my phone was developer unlocked- (dreamspark) and operator unlocked T mobile version bought from the US.
Also: I cannot get to the bootloader mode:
Here is what I've done:
1. Not connected via usb
a. Hold vol down button and press power to start
b. Hold both vol buttons and press power to start
2. Connected via usb
Same as above a and b.
However, nothing happens and my phone still doesn't connect to my computer.
So I don't know how else to send cabs.
Just use the wireless method with zune. No need for a cable.
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App
I'm getting a red text: Error: No devices were found.
I downloaded and installed the WP7 update tool before running the update cab sender batch file.
Also: my laptop is connected to the same wifi that my phone has been configured to auto-connect too.
EDIT: I've recently moved so my wifi router is different and my phone and computer are not configured to sync wirelessly over this network.
When I ran this tool, as per suggestion, it was not connected via cable.
Also, its a Dell Venue Pro that I started by keeping the Volume down button pressed and then holding the power button for a while. ( How do I know if its bootloader mode? )
I hope I'm not missing anything.
Here is what the about page of my phone says:
Dell Venue Pro
OS version: 7.1.7720.68
Firmware revision number: 2250.1800.7720.219
Hardware reivisin number: 112.576.2.0
Bootloader version: 7.27.1.0
Thanks.
Take the battery out.
Put it back in.
Hold power
and HOLD vol down
Hold these buttons untill you get to the boot loader. DO NOT RELEASE EITHER OF THEM
Hi Tried the following at least a 3 times each so not sure whats wrong: (took out battery each time and reinserted )
1.
a. Hold the power button.
b. Immediately hold the vol down button and then keep them pressed for as long as I can.
I still get the tiles.
a. Hold the vol down button first.
b. Hold the power button and keep them pressed for as long as I can.
I still get the tiles.
I also tried holding them for various stages, like releasing just after the Dell logo and just after the Windows Phone logo but neither helps.
Am I doing something very wrong here?
My bad. It is vol down, camera, power. I just tried it and it works
Where can I find specific Dell Vene Pro Cab

Also when I tried to use the cabsender, I'm getting this message as well ... ... operable program or batch file.
'llecting' is not recognised as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
'/I' is not recognised as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
'celog' is not recognised as an internal or external command,
etc....................
I just been given alot of the not recognised as an internal or external command ..... and ask me to 'Press any keys to continue' ... how do I get this working ?
I've basically bricked my phone by hot swapping a SD card without backup so I've got a bricked phone now ... ... just need to reflash it in someways and was hoping this would work ... ...

Thanks so now I do enter a bootloader mode, or what I think is the bootloader mode (a black screen with WP, usb cable and a laptop computer)
I fire up update sender and press S but it says cab not found.
I couldn't understand what is meant by 'Just use the wireless method in Zune'. Can someone please elaborate.
I tried to connect it to computer via usb and this happens: Unlike earlier when I used to get unknown device, I get a Windows mobile searching for drivers and then it says 'device unplugged'.
And S in update sender still doesn't work saying that no devices were found.
Any suggestions please?
There is no wireless method that would fix what you want. The wireless method is for syncing videos, photos, and music.
So can someone suggest what to do to be able to connect my phone to my computer and get future updates?
Fix: Dell Venue Pro device not recognised in windows
i bought 10 DVPs and 8 of them updated fine to mango. the other 2 wouldn't connect properly to windows. the device manager showed 4 unknown devices, following all the MS troubleshooting steps achieved nothing.
big thanks to a guy called Steven who found that the devices had been left in the incorrect USB mode by the Dell engineers back at the factory. by default they should all be in Zune mode, but these 2 weren't.
the solution is to start the EM diagnostic app on the phone, dial ##634#
then you get a photo of a dog and the "EM" screen comes up.
you get 3 menus at the top of the screen. "Phone Information", "System Information", "MMS Settings". to reveal additional menus, press each of the number keys along the top of the keyboard, 1234567890 in that order. this may take a few goes to get right so keep trying, it should eventually work, try sliding the keyboard up and down, seems fairly random to get it to work.
then scroll down to "Service Center". Switch to Zune mode. you should be good to go then, plug in to a PC and sync with Zune. when i tried this Zune failed to find an update complaining that it couldn't connect to the update service. so i set up a wireless sync with the device, and then plugged it back in and tried the zune update again, and it worked.

Boo Hoo ... I love my HTC-HD2, (despite all the grief HTC should have avoided inflicting on us), ... and so I was really looking forward to the 1.66 ROM Upgrade. BUT it won't load for me...
I downloaded the ROM ("GCC & Egypt" version out of Middle-East & Africa site - I'm an expat living in Dubai), connected my phone to my PC by USB & ActiveSync, ran the ROM.exe on my PC, carefully ticked and clicked my way through all the dialogue boxes and when I hit the last "next" button to launch the ROM upgrade, ActiveSync decides to disconnect leaving the phone hanging in the tri-clour bootloader mode and 10 seconds later, (with the connection dropped), I get Error [266] UPDATE ERROR (see attached screen shot).
Happily a quick restart after removing the battery restored the phone to its un-upgraded state. Thinking I may have tweaked something I shouldn't have on my phone (with loaded software, reg-edits and xda-tweaks), I hard reset it back to the original factory 1.43 ROM condition and retried the 1.66 Upgrade; but no go - same ActiveSync disconnection/bootloader hang. Tried again with firewall and virus protection turned off; and again on a different PC; and again and again holding my tongue in every conceivable different position - but no joy and now I have a bald patch from all the hair I pulled out.
I might just be thick and missed something, (though - as a last resort - I did read the instructions seven times), ... so I'm desperately seeking assistance. Any help would be greatly appreciated ... as I'm finding it difficult to suppress the rising anger and loathing I developing for Team HTC - who have now predisposed me to blame them for everything that goes wrong including global warming; - this is turning out to be pretty much like my relationship with all the old Landrovers I've owned - but I digress - can anyone suggest a solution or point out my error ... before I send the less than complimentary email I'm drafting to HTC, who will then have to blacklist me from buying the HD3 and then I won't have anything to complain about, (because my current Landrover Discovery 3 is uncharacteristically perfect !!).
That's because Windows needs an extra driver for the phone in bootloader mode. It is then no longer connected via Activesync.
Put your phone into bootloader mode, connect it to your PC, wait for the driver to install, then flash again (while the phone is in bootloader mode).
ROM Upgrade Utility / Phone connection problem persists
Thanks for the advice; but still have a problem.
PC connects and recognises the phone via USB connection in bootloader mode(so I assume driver has loaded properly) but ROM upgrade utility still stalls with error message saying "Update Utility cannot get response from your PDA Phone".
Several attempts to run Upgrade Utility while phone is in bootloader mode all fail; sometimes with no detection at but once or twice it manages to detect the phone but doesn't obtain any status info and ultimately fails to communicate properly, always ending up with the Error message noted.
Starting think I have a hardware problem ... oh no ... will have to deal with HTC Middle-East (which will mean numerous miscommunications, 3-4 week waits, phone being lost/misplaced, after 2-months being told there is actually no problem - must all be in my head ... think I'll just slash my wrists now and save the aggravation.)

What version of Windows are you using? If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 64 bit you may need to install the required drivers by yourself, rather than automatically updating drivers.
Have tried on two systems:
1. Win XP (32bit version with Service pack 3) running as virtual machine in Parallels 5.0 on an iMac OS 10.6 (snow leopard) - yes I've ventured out of the shadows into the light.
and
2. Win XP (32bit version with Service pack 3) running on a standard PC
Both seem to connect, bootloader on phone shows "USB" and under Control Panel/System/Device Manager the HTC Device shows as a USB Root Hub device "working properly" ???

Strange. I guess you have tried using different USB ports, and not using a USB hub port. Are you using the stock USB cable that came with your HD2?
You might also try flashing a ROM with your storage card. That should bypass your USB problem. You can find instructions here.
Flashing Via MicroSD Card
1. Make sure your microSD is Formatted to fat32 (you dont have to delete all files but it is safer if you do)
2. Download your prefered Rom from the LEO Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your PC
3. Goto the Roms Folder and rename the .nbh file to LEOIMG.nbh
4. Copy the LEOIMG.nbh file to the root of your MicroSD Card
5. Plug the MicroSD Card into the phone
6. Reset the device while pressing the volume down button to enter the BootLoader screen, you will first see a tri-color screen with the phone and SPL Information at the top
7. Follow the On Screen instructions to start the update
8. After flash has completed, press the reset button with the stylus to reset the device.
Yes; the first thing I tend to suspect is the USB Hub or ports on peripherals, but I also tried virtually every direct connect USB port on both machines.
and
Yes, I'm using the standard HTC micro-USB cable ... BUT whilst waiting for my second HTC cable to arrive I have also been using a micro-USB from a Jabra SP700 (car speaker) which "looks" identical but only charges my HD2 and doesn't work with ActiveSync ... so now I'm wondering if it is slightly different, maybe it has damaged the terminals on the phone - though would've thought that all micro-USBs plug in the same even if terminal configs differ resulting in connectivity differences ???

I do not understand all the mechanics of it, but no, not all micro-USB cables are the same, apparently some do not carry enough current, or some such thing. I am searching for more information for you now. If I find it, I will post it here.
For the life of me, I cannot find the information I was looking for. I read somewhere that others solved the problem by just disconnecting and reconnecting the phone during the flash process when the error occurs.
Well try another HTC cable as that sure seems to be suspect now. If all else fails, I would try flashing through the memory card method.
Keep us update. Hopefully soon you will get what you want.
Success!!! Flashing from a 3rd (more powerful) PC, went without a hitch and I'm now up and running.
My observations for what they're worth:
1. As noted by "FreyBerry", when running the Upgrade Utility from a PC using an ActiveSync connection to the phone, the connection gets dropped when the phone goes into bootloader mode and the PC is supposed to detect the phone as a USB device and reconnect - loading the appropriate driver. If driver and/or connection fails to load quickly enough the Utility times-out and you get the error message.
2. Though my USB cable may have been my problem, it seemed to work flawlessly on the 3rd PC. So other possibilites could be:
3. On the 1st attempt, running WinXP as a virtual machine inside an iMac, the USB-device re-connection doesn't happen fast enough as the Mac and PC inside the Mac arm-wrestle over which OS will pickup the connection.
4. On the 2nd attempt, using my office PC, our network/virus protocols/firewall or simply the aging PC may have been too slow or obstructed in reconnecting.
If the problem re-occurs I'll be opting for the SD-Card Flash method you suggested.
Many thanks for all the help ... I can already feel my pulled-out hair re-growing. Cheers.
Windows 7 seems to be the problem. I have the same problem if I want to upgrade the ROM on Windows 7, not on Windows XP.

I never succeeded in flashing from a virtual machine on OS X.
@wereldbol No, it should work fine with Windows 7, both 32bit and 64bit.
Just last week I flashed a rom on a Vista x86 no problem. Now I've got Windows 7 x64 on a brand new computer and I'm now getting error 266. I don't have the option of using the old computer so I'm lost on what to do. I was already even able to flash HSPL3 to my wife's phone on the Win7 pc and didn't have this kind of trouble. But now I can't install a rom.
The device drivers installed. If anyone has any help. It would be much appreciated.
Hi, I think everyone of us can't use the windows update feature in our omnia 2 (winmo 605)
Then, how can I update my windows build? i'm running build 21863, which have irritating menu to manage..please, i really want to update my winmo 6.5 build. Please share, thanks!
I just went into the update page on my Omnia2 and did a manual update. It took about 4 mins and I did not have it connected to my PC. Update successful.
why i can't? failed to connect.
can someone please help me?
same problem here.
it always tells me to check the connection and make sure time and date are set correctly.
for system time i use GMT+1
connection is fine. i tried provider network as well as WiFi.
Does anybody have a solution how I can check for updates?
[Solution] Update Samsung Omnia II
Method 1: By Yourself
1) Download New PC Studio from Samsung's website:
Link: downloadcenter[dot]samsung[dot]com/content/SW/201002/20100210183453156/New_PC_Studio_1.4.0.IL2.exe
*NOTE: REPLACE the [dot] with .
2) Install and launch NPS
*NOTE: YOU MUST BE RUNNING XP/VISTA TO USE. WINDOWS 7 IS NOT SUPPORTED
3) Connect your device via USB, make sure ActiveSync is already installed, ensure that NPS detects your phone.
*NOTE: IF YOU HAVE LOST/MISPLACED YOUR USB CABLE, A STANDARD MICRO USB CABLE SHOULD DO.
At the bottom right hand corner, there is a 'Upgrade' Button. Click on it. It will launch a window in NPS. Select your phone and click Check For Updates. If there are upgrades available, it should prompt you whether you want to install the upgrade. From here, follow the instructions onscreen.
If your phone errors during installation, it will boot into recovery. Reconnect the phone to the computer. It will not be recognized by NPS yet. Once again click the 'Update' Button and instead of Checking for Updates, click Recovery.
Method 2: At a Service Center
If your phone is still under warranty, you can bring the phone to a service center for upgrade. It should take ~30min for them to do that, depending on the number of customers they are serving. This way if anything goes wrong it isn't your fault.
I think Samsung disable the update function in their phones as they wanted people to flash only Samsung-Approved ROMs from their application
Besides, i was also facing this problem, so GOOD LUCK!
HOPE THIS WORKS FOR YOU
I just tried to update on my i8000 - worked fine, but:
a) it lasted a few minutes
b) no updates available now.
I have tried changing the fast sync option
I have removed everything from the computer and re-installed.
I have hard reset my HD2.
I have restored my computer to before i bought the HD2 and let windows figure out that it needs to install WMDC - then let it download itself and install it.
I have tried every USB port on my computer and also bought a powered USB hub and tried that.
After all installs it just simply wont let me make a partnership or anything.
I don't know what to do anymore. I WANT ME SOME NEW ROMS!!!! please help me out. Other than things to get Windows 7 to work - is there a way to flash hardSPL2 / roms without USB?
I appreciate any help given and i have searched the forums here and all over the net. If i missed that one special trick that my computer needs i do apologize.

I had the same problem with Win 7, however when I unchecked the faster connection option on HD2 it connected, although in Win7 it had a red x in mobile connection, but on the HD2 a connection had been established.
is formatting your PC an option?
Firewall?
I have three Windows 7 machines (32 & 64) and all connect without any problem. Disconnect from your internet connection. Turn off your anti-virus and firewall and give it a shot. Do you get the window that asks how you want to connect when you plug in your cable? Do you have a functioning cable? Just because it charges does not mean it will connect for data. Will it connect to an XP machine?

Have you tried a different usb cable? That's the only other thing I can think of that might be the problem.
HD2 on Windows 7 Ultimate
Hi
Had the same problem, and it turned out that the USB-cable i used, was the problem.
I used the cable that followed the 12v Car Charger, and that did no good, so I went and got the cable that came in the package (chargercable) and then it was Christmas and halloween alltogether.
Works like a charm!
@djchubbs yes i have turned that off as well - along with windows firewall
@ozkaya - no formatting my pc is not an option
@johnboatcat - When i plug it in the phone instantly asks me what kind of connection i want (file transfer or active sync with the checkbox option for faster sync as well). It transfers files just fine in file transfer mode as well.
@zarathustrax i have not tried a different USB cable as i dont have access to one. I doubt something is wrong with mine however i will have to see if i can get one somewhere.
@kongsvada Only cable i have is the one that came in the box factory from HTC
Again thank you for all the replies! I really really am trying to get this to work. I have my home computer which i do everything on but i tried my friends laptop today - it has the same exact build of windows 7 on it as my home computer (if that matters) and it will not sync or let me make a partnership or anything. I plugged it in, it downloaded WMDC and installed etc, restarted the computer and plugged it in, went to active sync mode and WMDC or the sync center do not recognize it at all. Since i cant find it in sync center i cant create a partnership.

OK, let me help you on this if flashing a new ROM will be your immediate task.
1) Just download the ROM that you like and rename it to LEOIMG.nbh
2) Make sure you've HSPL your LEO first.
3) Copy the renamed file into the root of your memory card.
4) Press the VOL down button simultaneously while turning ON your LEO.
5) Just follow the onscreen instructions on your LEO.
6) That's it.
the only problem that I can sense for you now is to HSPL your device because it does require connection with your PC. To bypass this connection with PC thing, do this;
a) Turn OFF your LEO.
b) Turn ON while pressing the VOL Down button together and it will enter the bootloader mode (TRICOLOR Screen).
c) At the bottom of your LEO, it will says "serial"
d) Now, connect the cable to your LEO and and your PC, the words will change to "Usb"
e) Let your PC do its work by installing the necessary driver automatically.
f) When it is done, run the HSPL program your PC. You can download it from this wonderful forum (Please search for it in the ROM development section)
g) Let the program finish and you can see something on your LEO screen in the process. Just look at it and let it finish. DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR LEO (I don't want you to brick your device).
h) When everything is done, reset your LEO and this time press the VOL Down button. This is to go back to the bootloader mode and to check whether the HSPL has been install correctly.
i) then go back to the steps (1 to 6) above to flash your new ROM.
Enjoy,
please post your result and help others too.

I had the same problem with my new computer which happend to be running windows 7 (everything was fine on my old xp machine). After much searching and trouble shooting the problem eventually came down to a setting on the motherboard (something to do with the p55 chipset). After I'd turned the c-state option on in the bios I've had no further issues.
It's a long shot but perhaps it will help you too
ok this sounds promising - i will try it this weekend when i have the time - i greatly appreciate the help and i will post results to let everyone know!
thank you all and like i said - will be trying your way soon mmorisa!
I had to change a registry setting on Windows 7 to get it to connect to my HD2... Of course I cant remember the setting, it may be this one

This worked great! I knew about bootloader screen, i knew i could flash from the SD card but i didn't know how to put them together. Thank you very very much for the help, now off to flashing roms!
One simple - probably stupid question:
I have seen TMOUS compatible on a few roms, however i will then read for that same rom that it is 576 ONLY - And then in another rom thread i see the creator of the rom say TMOUS compatible and then "TMOUS=1024". So what one is it!? just trying to be safe
Again - thank you all so much for the help - i really appreciate everyone that tried to help!
Edit: Just flashed the Evo rom to the phone, plugged it in and BAMN im able to sync with WMDC immediately - so thank you all so so much - super happy now with my 1024 leo!
slowestcivic,
I feel happy that you managed to do it and flash your favorite ROM with the guides I wrote.
at least i can see another smile from another happy LEO user.
best regards and don't forget to help others too.

@djchubbs yes i have turned that off as well - along with windows firewall
Again thank you for all the replies! I really really am trying to get this to work. I have my home computer which i do everything on but i tried my friends laptop today - it has the same exact build of windows 7 on it as my home computer (if that matters) and it will not sync or let me make a partnership or anything. I plugged it in, it downloaded WMDC and installed etc, restarted the computer and plugged it in, went to active sync mode and WMDC or the sync center do not recognize it at all. Since i cant find it in sync center i cant create a partnership.

Also running Office 2010 beta can cause active sync issues
yeah i have 2007 outlook so that wasnt thr problem. Still not sure what was wrong with it but after flashing a new rom all is well
I had the same trouble with win7. What i did after i tryed evrything i could think of was dowloading the latest active sync from Microsoft. Restarted and plugged the phone in and it worked
Hello,
I recently purchased HTC HD2 from someone. It came to me with Android 2.2 froyo installed in it through NAND. Now when I am trying to put ICS replacing froyo or when I am trying to put WINMO 7.5 Mango along with android it doesn't detect USB device connection.
All other features are working perfectly like, phone charging through USB, USB detection for SD card etc.
USB doesn't detect only when I try to run through MAGLDR. For example: when I am switching ON my phone by pressing Voume down key along with power key, colourful screen appears with "SERIAL" written on it. Now when I connect phone to my PC through USB it doesn't change to "USB" from "SERIAL".
Also when I am switching ON my phone by continuously pressing power key to get into MAGLDR mode and trying to flash using the 5th option "USB Flasher Mode", here also I can see just "Wait USB…" rather as per the tutorials it should display "Wait USB…USB".
Now because of this issue I am unable to use my HD2 using WINMO or with any other android OS.
Please help with any option so as I can use the USB feature or to install different OS. My motiv behind purchasing this set was only the customization I can do with the phone. Now without which my motive is getting failed.. Please help me guys :crying: ..
Thanks,
Harjeet
What's your PC setup?
A few things,,
In wmdc untick allow USB connections,, the wmdc that comes with vista/win7 isn't the latest version, Google the Microsoft wmdc page and manually download+install, try not to use a 64 bit windows machine if you have the option, (winxp for preference), running an os through any virtual machine type setup can be problematic, try different USB ports, for magldr it needs the android drivers,,,they can be found in various ways, they're linked in the nand toolkit thread, or I think installing "myphoneexplorer " on the PC installs them too, or Google the android sdk (that's a long and complicated way to get them)
Thanks for replying..
First thing.. Do I need to install WMDC when I am not having windows OS itself in my phone? This is just a question because as per my knowledge I don't need to install WMDC unless I am using windows in my Mobile.
At present mobile is purely an android phone with android OS installed in NAND.
And yes I am having Windows XP 32 bit with me. I already tried with different data cables and in different USB slots but USB connection for installing new OS doesn't work. Other then this all other features of USB are working perfectly.
Please revert in case my opinion is wrong.
Thanks,
Harjeet

no its not, its a windows mobile phone with a hacked winmo bootloader allowing it to run a custom bootloader (magldr or clk) which enables android to run.
Anything you do in the winmo bootloader (stripey screen - hspl, task29/flashing magldr/flashing stock roms, flashing radios - ) all requires windows mobile usb drivers.
Anything you do from the magldr screen requires android usb drivers.
Hey Sam,
I can't believe it.. I was wrong.. Just installed Active Sync and tried again.. It worked..
You were right.. Thanks a ton champ..

Hello all.
When you've got some problems with you datacable via phone/pc is also this a solution.
Be sure you've make a copy of your SD-card and after when you copied SD to PC (harddisc) via datacable or cardreader and after this you gonna formatting your SD-card or you buy a new SD-card.
Then put new or formatted SD-card into your phone and started it up in bootloadermenu (colorscreened) <volume down> and after this you wil see now in place only "serial" changed into "USB".
I'll be hope that this wil working.
I've my HTC HD2 also working when i fixed this.
HTC HD2 / PACman Android version 4.1.2 (latest version) / Magldr 1.13 / CWM recovery 3.2.0.0 <this combine works very simple and als this Android rom is stable and fast without automatically rebooting time.
For more you've check <HTC HD2 Android roms>
I wish you good luck with your phone...
i have the same problem
I had the same problem on my Windows 7 x64. Then I tried to connect HD2 to my older Win XP notebook and there it worked. So I found somewhere, I should update drivers in my Windows 7 system. I downloaded file "drvupdate-amd64.exe" from Microsoft (search in Google for "Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 Driver for Windows Vista (64-bit)"), installed it and then it started to work (it took a while, before it started to work, but it started). When I connected my HD2, Windows found the driver, installed it and "SERIAL" changed to "USB" finally.

I confess I haven't read all answers so it might be a repetition but what I think is you might have made changes in your operating system, specially in SYSTEM REGISTRY that deals with communicating your devices chipset in particular mode, I think it is a QUALCOMM device, now you should do following things:-
First if you have registry backup, apply that and revert back to previous system registry or in case you have not, restore your OS to any previous restore point.
Then restart system, connect USB cable and start it in the particular mode you asked in question (vol down+power), it should try detecting driver.
If it can't, better solution to try finding QUALCOMM MSM driver for HD2 separately is to download windows active sync/htc sync, which might be having these drivers built in, download it and if it doesn't help, restart your system, then try again, it should work, in case doesn't PM me, as I won't be following this post, most probably even you ain't
Hello everyone!
I have a HTC Blackstone, which I managed to flash with NAND Android (by fagyi). Unfortunately, I don't find it matches the device and would like to try a WM Rom (like Energy or so).
After many searches, I can't even run the Task 29 procedure with BlackstoneAdvancedRUU.exe, as the pc does not seem to communicate with the HTC. I have the appropriate drivers installed.
Please, could someone help with this...
rename the flash file (ruu_signed.nbh) to BLACIMG.NBH
Copy the flash file to the root of the SD-card.
Power off the phone.
Hold volume down and press power (battery must be at least) 50%.
Flash from SD card.

Another PC might also work.

This custom Android ROM has issues with USB-PC connection. This has been documented in fagyi's ROM thread.
Reverting back to WinMo:
No need for Task 29. Like HTC0017 said, make sure the battery is at least 50%.
Step 1. Power off the phone and remove SDcard from phone and use an SDcard adapter to attach it to PC using USB. If you do not have adapter, you can find another device, such as a tablet, camera, anything that uses SDcard and have USB connector.
Step 2. Once you have the adapter connected by USB to PC, and copy the ROM (RUU_SIGNED.NBH) to the SDcard. I will recommend you use this any variants of the ROM in this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719627
By far, I find it most reliable and conserves battery life (mine goes to 7 or 8 days on a charge, depending on the Telco signal coverage). There are WM7 and Android user-interfaces, too.
Step 3. Rename the RUU_SIGNED.NBH to BLACIMG.NBH
Step 4. Put the SDcard back to the phone.
Step 5. Hold Vol Down key and press Power. You will come to the tri-color screen. Release Vol Down and Power keys. Then the phone will come to a white screen that ask you whether you want to update. There should be a line on top stating BLACIMG.NBH followed by another line OS.
Step 6. Press Power to update. This will take a couple of minutes only.
Step 7. When you see Update Successful, remove the back cover and reset. Reset can be done in 2 ways.
a. Preferred way - use a paper-clip or something to poke the red reset button
b. Remove the battery and put it back, and then press Power and power up the phone.
The phone will now re-start and initialise the ROM files to the memory. Depending on the ROM you use, the phone will reset by itself or ask you to reset it once again. Then it's completed.
Hope this helps.
P.S. Once you have done the WM installation, you may also wish to update you HSPL and Radio ROM, but that is another process. . .
