Creating a Backup of Original Stock - Acer Iconia A500

Is there any procedure or step-by-step tutorial on how to create the original stock and not the one from downloads here or anywhere on the net?
I'm planning to backup the original stock on my second A500 Tablet before installing new ROM of my choice and if in any case I want to revert it back to its original state, I can install it back the way it was.
Thanks in advanced to all who will reply

[Q] Backup Options For Tab

Hi Everyone. I am brand new to Android and want to get started modding but want to have a good fallback plan in case something goes wrong.
I have been looking at some of the backup options and with all my searching I am having trouble finding out exactly what each of them do. The most popular seem to be Titanium Backup, Roto-Backup, and ClockworkMod. Are those correct?
From what I have gathered so far Titanium backup looks like it seem to get all your apps and settings and looks like its firmware independent. (You can backup from stock and reapply on a flashed ROM and it will keep your firmware the same and just reapply your settings and apps over top)
What I cant find is much detailed information on Roto-Backup and ClockworkMod Backup. Would someone be able to explain what the differences are and what I should be using.
What I want to be able to do if possible is basically take an "Image" of my device as it is now (Stock Rogers Tab JJ6), flash it to try Roto's new ROM, and be able to flash back to my existing stock Rogers setup if needed. What I am actually afraid of is that say official gingerbread or honeycomb comes out and if we are using something like Roto-JMG, that we will not be able to upgrade to it.
So basically I guess what im asking is, is there a way to create a custom ROM of my current Tab so that I can always get back to my stock carrier Firmware?
Thank you guys, and I apologize if I have missed a previous thread that already has answered this.
Use Roto-Backup, it does pretty much the same as nandroid but in a much more easily recovered from way. (CWM relies on a custom kernel, Roto-Backup doesn't)

Doing a Froyo update

Ok, I know this going to get instantly downvoted into oblivion for my incompetence, but can anyone give an idea of what is involved in upgrading my i5800 to froyo?
Samsung UK are being as useful as chocolate teapots with regards to the official update, so I'd like to get some froyo-ey goodness into my handset
Basically, I have a few questions:
What is the best way to backup? Can I create a complete image, so I can restore completely to as it is now if i need to?
Which firmware is best to use? I quite fancy rooting, so I'd like to get a firmware that offers some protection, or an app that can provide a similar thing.
And what software do I need to perform this?
Sorry if this seems a bit "Hurr Durr, red teh other pages plox"...
Cheers
Michael.
1. You can use Titanium Backup for backing up currently installed app.s & data. You will need to root the phone to use this..assuming you're on eclair right now, use the z4root app. to root easily. Additionally, you can also backup data like contacts, sms etc. in Kies.
2. You don't really need to backup & restore entire system image..just note details your current ROM & download it from samfirmware.com in case you need to flash it back. For flashing you will need Odin software.
3. Download any recent European Froyo ROM from samfirmware & flash it with Odin. Use SuperOneClick to root once Froyo is installed.
You will find all the info that you need in the rooting & flashing consolidated thread in dev. forum. Wish you all the best.

[Q] Restore to default ROM

I'm trying to restore my Acer Iconia A500 back to the stock/ original ROM so that I can grab the official update in July. Is there any way to do that? I really like the custom ROMS, I just want to revert to see what it was like.

And, of course you made a backup via clockworkmod???? eh?
Why are so many not making backups of their tabs before installing unknown software?
There's lots of threads about this in the forums with instructions already. And this belongs in the General forum, not development.
Yes I'd also be interested in this. I have the droid x so when ever I want to revert to factory settings theirs a program on the computer (rsd lite) I use to revert it. So I almost never backup my roms. Now on my iconia they don't have such program. At least that I know of. So I flashed a rom on my iconia and didn't make a backup of my current one. I tried fixing it by flashing stock_acer a500.zip I thing by dexter don't quote me on that one. But it was the emea version so now its stock european and I live in america. Help is apreciated.
I'm a flashing person that has flashed many times on my phones. I forgot to make a nandroid backup of my original rom myself...so I'm not judging. I would say, flash honeyvillian, as its the closest thing to stock I've seen.
But, if your already flashing, I wouldn't want to grab the official anything...someone will post it once it comes out.
Sent from my A500 using XDA Premium App
I want to flash it to the latest stock. So when ota 3.1 is released, I could rest assure knowing that my device would get updates ota.

because we are impatient and stupid
I am running to get someone with a tablet of my country to get back the STOCK ROM in case of... I am going to see if I can deal with the shop to root and recovery on SD Card the stock rom so I will be able to have the stock rom...
For USA version 1.104.02, Check out this post.. You'll probably want to skip flashing the stock recovery until you know the system will boot normally.. So from this post, run itsmagic, flash boot, flexrom and system, in that order. Preferable from an adb connection. The tablet will freeze while flashing system. Give at least 5 mintues to make sure it's complete.
You may need to do a data wipe if it bootloops (that's why you should skip flashing recovery). Once it's booting normally, you can flash the stock recovery if you want.
Alternatively, you should be able to replace the files in dexter's stock update zip with these files. But I haven't looked at that zip, so I don't know if system is an image file or a archive file.
Thanks for the replies quick question though. How do in run its magic is their a command for ADB or do I acess it via clockwork recovery?

You download it from the itsmagic thread in the development form and follow the directions in that thread.

I too would like to restore to the 3.0.1 stock rom, however my backup of the stock rom got corrupted somehow. I know it had to be something I done, but know not what it was I did. Any help would be much appreciated. Or would it be a better idea to flash the 3.1 leak?

[Q] from Lightspeed 1.0.7 to stock

Going to sell my Acer Iconia a500 so now i need to get everything back as it comes from factory. Right now i'm rooted with the custom rom Lightspeed 1.0.7. I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1155664 and thought i could follow those easy instructions. I'm probably stupid but i can't get it to work.
First i tried with the cwm method, but i can't find a way to unroot (using Iconia root 1.3 did not work, not sure what other ways there are?) therefore flashing the Acer_A500_0.000.00_1.016.01_COM_GEN1 does not work.
Tried instead with Restoring to factory defaults via Terminal #2. installed the things needed but it wouldn't let me run itsmagic (/data/data/com.interphaze.AcerRecoveryInstaller/files/itsmagic)
Could anyone guide me as to how i get everything back to stock?
All help is much appreciated!
edit: i installed one of the full packages from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878 (Acer_A500_7.006.03_COM_GEN1) everything should be stock now right? and it should be possible for otas?
Even with rooted stock you can receive updates, its just the custom ROMs that won't receive it (like Lightspeed). If you go into settings, about tablet it should tell you what you are running. If it is one of the versions listed in that thread you should be good to go. Also make sure you aren't rooted and that CWM is no longer there.

Usually, you can do this by installing Acer recovery, and run one of the full roms from;

Really doesn't matter which package, but I would run a 3.2, Com Gen 1

[Q] Need to download/install stock ROM

Hi,
I'm trying to network unlock my phone, and the company handling it says that it's because I'm using a custom ROM.
So I need to install the stock Touchwiz piece of ****. Can someone direct me to where I can find that? I've had a good look and I've not been able :/
Also, would I just need to boot into recovery, do a data/system wipe, then install from ZIP?
Would me doing that remove Clockworkmod?
Thanks for any help given, I've had a real ****ty time finding a ROM that wasn't paywalled >_>

This will provide you with a 100% stock firmware. Be sure to read the post in it's entirety before commencing with the process!
You will lose EVERYTHING with this, including CWP/TWRP ect so back up any images/contacts/files on your pc, and also try and find the CWM/TWRP or whatever before doing so.
It's hard to find a flash-able "Stock" rom, so I'd suggest doing this, then maybe going back to custom.
Good luck!
