ok...it's always good to have data backup...so my advice is...do it...and i think you need data.img&sd-ext.img in froyo_data. folder for multiboot....
multiboot: yeah you can do whatever u want...install apps...create contacts etc...and when you'll switch. betwen froyo rom's...you'll have all there where it should be....when you'll switch from froyo to cm7....you need cm7 system.img also....and when i switched to cm7 from froyo.....data was there...and sd-ext was there also...only thing i lost was widgets....but i've got them back in no time
and yeah...i almost forgot...you have to have multiosdata enabled also...
happy multibooting

hi there!
yesterday I rooted my bro's Legend(stock 1.31) with the r4-legend-root pack and then I loaded MoDaCo's cROM. when he asked me to setup the A2SD, I made a second ext2 part., but then after some reboot the apps disappeared and then showed up again, and then almost all of them lost. so I loaded the root ROM again, which randomly reboots(dunno why).
so I ask you to prefer a GOOD, FAST, SLIM ROM with Sense, and probably a non-app-killer-A2SD.
thanks in advance, Adolf(and my bro too )
This is the best custom rom at the moment... (In my opinion)

Azure .. Froyo (Android 2.2)
Thanks, this looks good, but there is no Sense(that's a pity) ):
I think it will be using any *beta* Froyo modified ROM's. Azure 6 was giving me some problems with YouTube video uploads. I switched back to SweetVanilla RLS 3 (EClair 2.1) and I didn't have any issues. Azure is not slim by any means.

You can only get the SenseUI if you use the official ROM(s) by HTC.
Hi guys ,
I am very sorry if there is a thread already
I have Galaxy I5801(apollo) with 2.1 stock . I have been seeing custom rom also and they are very good looking .
i liked Kyrillos' ROM v3.0 final version screenshot and i think it is stable one :S .
So i wanted to know is there possible that i can backup this 2.1 so that whenever i get any problem with mobile . i can restore it to stock again before giving it to service centre .
now being newbie i have few question
1. what is this lagfix or superlagfix. i can't seams to understand it . Will it reduce lag while browsing contacts ?
2. i need ODIN for flashing right ?
3. what is this JPM or JPF
4. is there way i can remove that GPSfix from custom rom as my GPS get lock within 10-15sec means it working
any other thing i need to know before i start .
or
should i wait for i5801 official 2.2
please expert share your knowledge and teach this newbie
Hey man yes u need odin to flash the custom rom i myself am using kyrillos v 2.1 . U need to really read the procedure of.custom rom flashing. Be careful not.to brick ur phone. Kyrillos hom self has put up some tutprial in his post. Nd yea abt lag fix, jpm,jpf.etc.etc.jst google it up man. Xda itself has a lot of info jst search. Okay now if any time u want to restore ur stock rom u can always flash it. And stock rom is available for download. Try samfirmware site

And for heavens sake don't wait for the update from Samsung its not gonna happen in the near future. Any way a custom deodexed, ext2, clean roms r yummm . Kyrillos roms r pretty fast im jst waiting for the final stable version 3.0 of his rom

Go for a reflash.. Don't wait for official update. Check your ROM name in settings, then flash. If you will have some problems with you phone, you can always reflash your old ROM. I think the majority of original ROMs are on samfirmware. Check there...
but i can't find asian rom of I5801
What have you in Settings -> About phone -> Build number?
Eclair.ddjg6
Here look for ROM with that name. It's there in the list of roms.
I5801DDJG6 for I5800 ASIA (July 2010).

Do I still need to 'lagfix' my i5800 if I'm on Kyrillos 3.0 beta2 Normal version (and planning to flash final version as soon as it is released)?
I got confused with all that info in thread regarding Kyrillos' rom.
There is a link to MOTAFOCA under Normal version description, but since beta2 converts partitions to ext4 what would be the point in converting them to ext2? Or I just miss something?
I got only 331 in Quadrant on brand new and clean Kyrillos 3.0 beta2 and I saw some posts about 500+.
Hi,
I'm currently using the stock DDJP2 rom in my SG3 (I5801) which sucks a lot (specially freezes a lot & poor battery life) . I've heard that there some stock ROMs which are very good in term of stability & battery performance. Now I want to use those ROMs and shortlisted three ROMS - XXJPM / XXJPN / XWJPF (which are for I5800). My main targets are:
1. Better stability & performance
2. Better battery performance
3. More customization option
4. Dont want to use any custom ROM
Can anyone suggest me a suitable ROM for me out these three mentioned above. Also please let me the know if there is any possibility of loosing my IMEI no after flashing with these roms (have seen that some people complained about problem who uses I5800 ROMs in I5801). If there is any possibility, can you let me know the precautions I should consider. I'm some confusion after going through the various posts and wanted to clear all of these before flashing.
Thanks in advance.
I've used the JPF, JPN and found several bug's in them.
I'm currently using Kyrillos' rom v5.3 (based on XXJPM) and is the best I've used, with all
the bug's I complained solved

This was my goal too, I flashed Lestatious ROM and I must say it's the most stable and fast ROM. Even without OC it's extremely fast!
Sooo, I suggest you to flash Lestatious!

I'd like to recommend you JPM. And this will be end if we talk about roms from your list.
But I hope you will consider one from Dharama's roms. I'm sure you will find a rom (from Dharama's roms of course) that fits expectations for a perfect rom. Personally I use Dharama's Clean Performance Rom - fast, light, stable, with easy installation, without useless stock applications.
I've also heard only good things about Dharam's Clean Rom.
I was on DDJP2 and had many probs so switched to XXJPM and I must say I am very satisfied with it. It too has some minor probs and the occassional freezing but it is one of the best among the stock ROMs.
As for losing your IMEI, yes there is a chance so backup your /efs folder and also create a efs.rfs file so that even if you lose your IMEI, you can get it back. You can find the tutorial in the roll up thread.
Another thing when flashing a ROM is remove the boot.bin, sbl.bin and logo.png files and your chances of a hard brick is virtually 0%. You can also download the ROMs without boot loaders from Kyrillos thread.
Cheers and happy flashing
Thanks everybody for your kind help.
As mentioned earlier, I would prefer a stock rom rather than a custom rom and hence decided to go for XXJPM. I've downloaded the stock XXJPM rom from the samfirmware site but I cant see any boot.bin and sbl.bin file though I'm able to see the logo.png file (which I guess the first pic after the phone startup). I can only see the folling files - cache.rfs, datafs.rfs, factoryfs.rfs, logo.png, modem.bin & zImage file.
Can anyone tell me which file should I remove before flashing this I5800 rom in my I5801. I've already copied the /efs folder to my sdcard so I can restore my IMEI no & MAC address if anything goes wrong. Is this enogh before flashing the XXJPM Rom. I dont have extensive knowledge in flashing. Please help.
Thanks in advance.
Jpm does not have the bootloader files so you need not remove any files
as i already said look in the roll up thread to backup imei
Thanks you all for your help.
I'm successfully able to flash the jpm rom in my sg3.
Hello,
I'm too about to do the same thing flashing 5800 Stock ROM on my 5801. So I wanted to know if you had problems with EMI and MAC after your flash.
Thanks
Hi...I have just bought my new Huawei U8800 and I am a complete noob in the android world. So, I want to to put my CPU at 1,2 Ghz with setCPU and I have read that I need to put a custom ROM and change the kernel and I just don't know wich of both I should use or even how to install them..... I have read that Franco's kernel is pretty good, but again, I'm a noob....
Thanks for the answers in antecipation...
1. You need root: ROOT
2. You need clockwork recovery: RECOVERY
3. Then you can upgrade to custom ROM : VOID or OXYGEN or MIUI Void is probably the most stable, but Oxygen and MIUI is Android 2.3. There are a few more ROM's, but this is the best @ XDA.
4. You can now download SetCPU, buy from market or download here: SetCPU
5. If you want you can install franciscofranco's kernel for you ROM: FRANCO.KERNEL I use it for my Oxygen ROM.
You need to read a little bit to understand what to do, but in the end it's all worth it

Thanks for your answer, I just donĀ“t understand what you mean when you say tha OXYGEN and MIUI are android 2.3????
That is the version; Froyo is "Android 2.2.x" and Gingerbread is "Android 2.3.x". So Void is Android 2.2.2 Froyo, Oxygen and MIUI are Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread. Gingerbread is newer than Froyo, and better
so, if i install OXYGEN or MIUI, i get android gingerbread in my phone, right???
Yes, but MIUI looks not like stock 2.3 Gingerbread, while Oxygen does. Watch som videos on YouTube. I personally like MIUI and will use it as my default ROM when it becomes stable/bugfree, but now it isn't and Oxygen has a little fewer bugs. But, You must choose what you like and want
If you install the latest version of OXygen, you don't need SetCPU anymore. It has all it's functions embedded in the Oxygen Settings.

Did you managed to install a custom ROM? There is a new version of MIUI with almost no bugs which I'm pretty happy with
I didn't do it yet, I had connection problems in my computer, but I just want to ask another two thigs:if I root my phone will I have the same language in the system, and if I put a custom ROM??? And if I have any problems with the phone, can a flash the original ROM because of the warranty???How????
Rooting the phone does not change the language selection. Not all custom ROMs necessarely support all languages though, just try it out.
If you want to revert your phone to stock settings just download the firmware directly from huawei (there is a install-guide provided i think).
Hi. What are differences between MIUI and NAND roms? Which is better? I know that MIUI has better 2D score, but are they faster? Is the menu smooth and fast? And what about overclock? And could you please write me what kind of roms are available? Like SD, NAND etc? I'm new in that and I do not get it yet. And would it give me some performance if I created an EXT4 partition?

NAND is a method of installing Android to your internal storage and overwriting the WinMo OS. It performs better than SD android.
SD Android is a method of booting Android from your SD card. It is slower than NAND Android (still usable though) and allows you to keep WinMo, as well as being able to dual boot with WP7 and NAND Android through the MAGLDR bootloader.
MIUI, CM7, Sense etc. are all types of Android ROM. The only real way to decide which is the best is to try them out yourself (this is another place in which SD Android comes in handy, it allows you to try things out without any real effort) and decide.
Overclocking is possible up to 1.62 GHz with Dorimanx's kernel and many others support overclocking as well.
If you have an EU HD2, an EXT partition is necessary for many ROMs as the internal storage isn't enough. For TMOUS HD2s, this isn't necessary but still useful as it gives you space for apps.
Also, please watch this video and make sure to search before posting next time, as you could easily have found this information within a minute with a quick search.
I know about OC with kernel, I meant is there already in MIUI rom kernel with the OC up to 1.6 ability. Dorimanx kernel damages restore files, and the only way is to restore a CWM backup or install again from zip. But as I can see, there isn't
About EXT: If I have EXT3, then is the EXT4 better? Faster? Which one should I use if rom supports both?
About searching: I know, I just wanted to make everything clean, and probably I would not find these threads And the video is too fast

I'm not sure about the EXT thing or the MIUI kernel to be honest, I think the EXT version doesn't really matter and I've never heard about this damaging restore files thing but maybe it does. yz.hd has posted an excellent summary of all ROMs and kernels etc (stickied in the NAND thread) so make sure to look through those. I really can't notice the difference between 1.2 and 1.5GHz though
Those answers are not align with my knowledne about linux systems
Drivers for any hardware are in Kernel / modules so we had working drivers.
In *nix systems it was separated kernel/drivers<>os so on android we are using similar architecture - we had kernel 2.6 with HWA on GB so why it not just simply was working on ICS
MIUI ROM(2.3) is based on CM7, NAND ROM will be faster.
if your HD2 is "H" version that with 512M ROM, you should better create EXT4 in SD;if not, "T" version that with 512M ROM will not need
