Update for HTC HD2 SIM Contacts?

Hi!
I got a bit confused when i was about to apply the latest hotfix:
Update for HTC HD2 SIM Contacts
This download gave me the file: _HTC HD2_RUU_LEO_07662_20091217.exe
And when starting it on my pc it started a ROM upgrade utility.
I must ask, does this update update my whole ROM and erase everything, or what the heck is it?
Have HTC made a misstake once again and uploaded the wrong file?
Hi,
the following discussion on hidden radio updates is actually the thread for you. This update does not delete any data on your phone (unless something goes terribly wrong). It updates the radio services on your phone. If you go over to the thread I'm sure everyone will be extremely helpful if you have any questions which are not covered.

I missed that one!

T-Mobile HD2, Unlock or Not?

Hey peepolz,
I just purchased a used T-Mobile HD2 for some rom tinkering. I'll be using it in India. Was wondering if I needed to unlock the sim through WinMo 6.5 before installing Android or would installing an Android Rom over WinMo automatically unlock it, since it is practically a completely new software over the old.?

1) No what? It gets unlocked after putting in Android or needs to be unlocked?
2) Sorry, my bad.
3) Moderator, please pardon and oblige.
It neither requires SIM unlocking, or does it. (Assuming you're using the correct provider's SIM!)
In simpler words, Android does not sim unlock your phone.
Sent from my HD2 running Android on NAND
unlock the HD2 for 20$.. there are few sites available.. i tried with this way and it works good in Indian SIM
if you bought without any contract, call Tmobile customer care and get the unlock code...
once it's unlocked you can use it in India..
Installing rom won't unlock the SIM lock with tmobile
Thnx Guys.

[Q] Upgrade ROM HTC touch HD

Hi all, please, ask them, I need your help, I have a few questions, I'm new to this and never, do any update. I have a HTC touch HD, I payed a technician to perform the release and he told me, it not can it, the reason is: "could not already, there are 11 attempts (max counter is it 10)". I read in many forums, this way, it is reset the counter to 0. I try downloading from the official website (by S/N) "says that is not available for that model." I found other ROMs, more improved, my question is: them to change the ROM, remains the same serial number on my cell phone? or change? the imei, change or not? to use my unlock code. From already thank you for your attention and I look forward to your comments. Greetings. Max.
Sorry but I don't understand a word of the English you are writing.
What I understand is that you like to update your HD, therefore I suggest to have a look in the HD forums.
There you find enough info how to update your device.

For now I'm closing this thread because you posted this question in the wrong section.

[Q] 2.1 Update

Sorry to ask this question, It's a simple one but all the threads seem to go into too much info. I've hunted through numerous threads, but maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
I'm a Win 6.5 kind of person and Know nothing whatsoever about Android (Until my next upgrade (Sensation Hopefully))
In 2010 I bought my daughter a T-mobile UK Hero, unlocked it and is now running with an O2 UK sim.
She has never recieved an over the air update to 2.1, is this because it should come from T-mo and she now has O2 Apn settings??? On 1.5, I can't even find "Check for Updates" in the menu.
Is there an easy way and a step by step guide to this?
I'd like to use a stock rom, as I'll have her and everyone else to answer to if anything goes wrong.
Is there a thread or glossary that explains upgrading procedures and words like rooting etc. as all this seems a little different to Win Mo.
Thanks
a good place to start would be here:

also, please post [Q] threads in the Q&A section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=511
if you never want to root your device, just flash an RUU to the device.
you should find the correct one here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559622
I expect only a T-mobile one will run. I am not certain if this will remove your sim unlock.

Thanks, I'll give that thread a go, and I hadn't thought about the simlock issue. I did an over the air update on my girlfriends desire that I unlocked from O2, and didn't have a simlock issue, or is this totally different to an RUU flash?
Sorry it went in the wrong section. I spend most of my time on the Leo forum where there's no Q&A Section.
Thanks again
Does anyone know for sure if this will re-lock the phone?
If it does, can the phone be unlocked using the same code as used last time?
I seem to recall reading that flashing a rom doesnt affect the sim lock. Dont know about an RUU though

2.1 Language: XDA is a worldwide community. As a result what is ‘ok’ to say in your part of the world may not be ok in someone else’s part of the world. Conversely, while reading member posts, remember that word you find offensive may not be to the writer. Tolerance is a two way street.
2.2 Nudity: XDA is used by people of all ages, including minors. It's not acceptable to post nude/pornographic imagery, which includes exposure of the male or female genitalia or of female breasts.
2.3 Flaming: XDA was founded as a group of people sharing information about certain mobile phones. Sharing does not involve virtual yelling (flaming) it does involve working together to solve problems in an environment of mutual respect and understanding. Losing your temper and flaming another member, or group of members, is not acceptable behavior.
2.4 Personal attacks, racial, political and/or religious discussions: XDA is a discussion forum about certain mobile phones. Mobile phones are not racial, political, religious or personally offensive, therefore none of these types of discussions are permitted on XDA.

4. Use the English language.
We understand that with all the different nationalities not everyone speaks English well, but please try. If you're really unable to post in English use an online translator, You're free to include your original message in your own language below the English translation.
5. Post a message only once.
As a large forum we don't need unnecessary clutter, You're free to edit your message as you like, so if you do not receive an answer revisit your message and see if you can describe your problem better. Not everyone is online at the same time, it might take a while before you receive an answer.
6. Do not post warez.
If a piece of software requires you to pay to use it, then pay for it. We do not accept warez nor do we permit any member to promote or describe ways in which Warez, cracks, serial codes or other means of avoiding payment, can be obtained. 9. Don't get us in trouble.
Don't post copyrighted materials or do other things that will obviously lead to legal trouble. If you wouldn't do it on your own homepage, you probably don't want to do it here either. This does not mean we agree with everything the software piracy lobby try to impose on us, it simply means you cannot break any laws here, since we'll end up dealing with legal hassle caused by you. Please use common sense: respect the forum, its users, and those that write great code.
10. Help others if you can.
If you see posts from others where you can help out, please do. This place exists because people are helping each other, and even if you are relatively new to the matter, there's probably already quite a few people newer than you that would benefit from what you've learned. Don't be shy.
11. Don’t post with the intention of selling something.
Don’t use XDA to advertise your product or service. Proprietors of for-pay products or services, may use XDA to get feedback, provide beta access, or a free version of their product for XDA users and offer support, but not to post with the intention of selling. This includes promoting sites similar/substantially similar to XDA-Developers.com.
Do not post press releases, announcements, links to trial software, or commercial services. unless you’re posting an exclusive release for XDA-Developers.com.

B) the site is a relatively small personal website without commercial advertising/links (i.e. not a competitor forum-based site with purposes and aims similar to those of XDA-Developers.com.)
12. Using the work of others.
If you are developing something that is based on the work of another Member, you MUST first seek their permission, and you must give credit to the member whose work you used. If a dispute occurs about who developed / created a piece of work, first try to settle the matter by private message and NOT in open forum. If this fails then you may contact a moderator with clear evidence that the work was created by you.
Convincing evidence will result in copied work being removed. If there is no clear evidence you created the work then in the spirit of sharing all work will remain posted on the forums.
As an addition, developers have the right to hold exclusivity over their work for as long as it is deemed necessary by the dev or freely share it. However, if the work is claimed as exclusive, it must remain as such. No selective sharing will be allowed (ie allowing certain people to use it and not others). Should the dev decide to start sharing the work with others, the work automatically becomes fair game for all to use.
In regards to permissions, same rules remain for this but if permission was already given, unless there is a very valid reason, it cannot be revoked (same applies to major updates on the work). Under that same premise, permissions cannot be denied unless the work is exclusive or under severe circumstances.
In plain English: If you want to keep your work exclusive, go for it. However, if you are going to share your work, do it fairly.
These rules apply to all software posted on XDA (including but not limited to ROMs, RUUs, apps, games, kernels, themes, icons, etc) unless that software comes with a license that waives these rules.
13. Advertising and Income Generation
Commercial advertising, advertising referral links, pay per click links and other income generating methods are forbidden. Do not use xda-developers as a means to make money.
14. Create only one User Account
You are allowed one User Account at xda-developers. If you create additional accounts, Moderators will disable them and your original account may also be disabled or infracted.
15. Keep posts/threads on-topic
Whilst a minor amount of off-topic posting may be overlooked, the general rule is your posts / threads must be relevant to the Forum / thread in which you are posting.

Are you sure that you have lost your root ?
Have you make a backup from your root before the JB update ?
If yes, normally you can restore it without problem. The backup of your root doesn't made automaticaly
If not, I think that it lost.
Thanks for the reply.I actually had a backup that i had with the OTA root keeper, however for some reason the update wiped all my data, incl. my personal files inside the tablet.SO as a result, everything is gone.(btw i updated from the download version from ASUS site, not OTA update, and my device is unlocked)
Hi, thanks for this thread "Tiger"....we needed it
To answer the root problem, you'll need to do the root over again....its not that bad though.
I had to do it....so follow the links at the top of this thread and do as they say, I used the method for the TF300T and the CWM Touch recovery.....worked like a charm.
I am only wondering if I can put back on the tablet EZ-Overclock?....heard they had issues on the TF300T JB
Thank you.

I also have a backup of the current ICS root. Currently sh.. scared of rendering the tablet useless as I use it for trading.
Okay now that the firmware is up on Asus's website I can update too (can't OTA) so any comment on the update itself for tg users? I saw this thread & people has reported many issues: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1857288
so since our update came long after 300t how's this update for us? are those issue fixed, anything to report? as someone who has just bought his tf300tg and is perfectly happy with ICS should I go on & update or wait for later updates from Asus?

TF300TG - Got OTA ...
Hi' all.
I also have TF300TG which is rooted. I got OTA message from ASUS.
For now i've posponed install. But i'm wondering. Does any one know if it's ok to do OTA update and will it be posible to use Voodoo OTA RootKeeper to recover root, or will i have to go with the whole procedure shown in this topic?
Please, help
Backup the root via Voodoo, and normally it will be good. That's what I have done for my 300TF.
After the update, just restored and updated SuperSu or Superuser

Credits go to the following person krabappel2548 for his thread and the members below for their help in all this....thank you!!!

Dear Asus Transformer TF300TG users,
Asus released the Jellybean update. Here is a guide which will let you:
- Prepare your tablet for the Jellybean update
- Update your tablet to Jellybean software
- Install recovery and give you root acces
== Part 1 - Prepare the tablet ==
First we need to install the .V9.4.4.40 update to be able to upgrade to the Jellybean software, then we will do the actual upgrade to Jellybean.
1) Download the V9.4.4.40 update: Asus support site
2) Got to recovery and make a backup
3) In recovery do to a factory reset and wipe dalvik cache
- TWRP recovery: Wipe => Dalvik Cache and Wipe => Factory reset
- CWM recovery: Factory reset and Advanced => Wipe Dalvik Cache
4) Flash the Asus recovery "Here I had to change the way I did this as it would not flash for me in recovery mode, I unzipped the ICS zip and unzipped it again to receive the BLOB file, place this file with the fastboot file in the adb folder
4.1) Open a command prompt in the same folder of the adb and fastboot files (Shift + Right mouse)
4.2) Reboot into the bootloader of your tablet, type: adb reboot bootloader
4.3) When your tablet has reached the bootloader navigate with volume down to the usb icon and press volume up to confirm.
4.4) To flash the recovery type:
- fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash recovery blob
5) Then reboot the tablet holding down the power button or using fastboot.
The Jellybean update will only be automatically launched with stock recovery
== Part 2 - Upgrade to Jellybean ==
This will upgrade your tablet to Jellybean (Android 4.1)
6) Here I unzipped the V10.4.3.7 file I download from the Asus website for my Tablet to receive another zip.....again make sure its the correct SKU!!! and place that zip file onto the internal sdcard of the tablet using the cable and computer.....once I had done this I then unplugged the tablet from the computer and checked the notification area on the tablet, now automatically it said there is an upgrade available and when clicking on it the process will start.
== Part 3 - Install recovery and rooting ==
Follow this part on the attached thread (Part 3)
This should do the same for you, but if you are having trouble I will try help you best I can, or you are more than welcome to try it the OP way on his thread.
If I have helped you please hit THANKS button....its free and I appreciate it
Also thank the Members below....please
== credits ==
- krabappel2548 for linked / coppied thread (Hope I dont get into trouble)
- eyeballer for TWRP recovery

Thank you.
Update worked like a charm, root restore did too.
BUT...
during JB update i've left SDCard in TF300 microSD slot and ... tablet can't see this one particular sd card!!!!
1. card works perfectly in every other device (htc phone, laptop etc)
2. card reader in tf300 works perfectly - other cards work
3. even this card works in tablet when i connected it through dock usb (via phone) - didn't test it via docks sdcard reader (i don't have adpater with me).
4. (new) - tested with adapter to full SD in sd card reader in dock station and this card works!!!, in Tablets microSdCardReader still doesn't.
It seems, like JB update remembered this card in some way, and doesn't want to mount it again.
(card was reformated, and even wiped (zeroed) totaly, partitioned and formated again....)
still doesn't work...
Any Ideas? Where JB can keep this information? card S/N? Did any one had this problem??

Hi there,
I have a Tf300tg and it was rooted before the update. Unfortunately I didn't see any problem in update to JB, so I just updated the firmware. The problem it's that when I tried to install titanium backup it says that I don't have the root on the tablet and I don't have a backup of the root. Can I root again? I have the superUser installed yet. Can anyone help me with that?
Thanks!

Have you installed and backuped your root with Vodoo Rootkeeper ?
If not, you have lost your root and that's why TB says you din't have root.
Use Root checker from Google play for be sure of that.
