Help with MT4G stuck on clockworkmod recovery - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys, please I need some help, I rooted my daugther's phone like a week ago with the lastest virtous rom ( 3.0 maybe ??)...yesterday she told me the phone freeze by itself while she was playing, she took the battery and nothing happens and after some tries, the phone got into the opening screen ( HTC quietly something) and stays there..
I did volume down + Power, select recovery and the phone goes to Clockworkmod Recovery V5.0.2.0 , from here anything can de done. I do select, wipe, install from sd card, goes to the next screen with the hat and semicircle on the middle and stays there, doing nothing..please help me..thanks in advance

That mite be dark side sense virtuous unity shows a v when booting up anyways but define play when u say your daughter was playing with it exactly what was she doin
MyTouch HD (Black)
Kernel demonspeed v7
lagfree 1516Ghz - 768Mhz
Edited Build Prop
Beats Audio
Gingerbread 2.3.5
Dark Side Sense 3.3 !

Download either dark sense or vu from your pc and move it to the device sdcard. Not to a specific folder but just the sdcard. Insert the sdcard back into the device and flash the rom nornally and reboot.

In ClockworkMod Recovery, the power button takes you up one level in the menus. To select a menu item, you need to press the touchpad button.

I found this to be one of the problems on recovery I was pressing power instead of the touchpad..so I got that part so far,,but now Im trying to get a new rom and while doing the wipe data wipe cache, got so many error can't mount/cache/recovery...any ideas or looks like that's it !!!

Finally got it back to stock rom following this :
The simplest solution is to return to the stock rom, do a permaroot & flash the clockworkmod recovery.
Download the official 2.2.1 rom, put it to the root of your sdcard, and try to update.
Rename it to PD15IMG.zip before updating.

I had the same problem when installing dark sense. Ended up flashing vu without any problems.

[Q] Wildfire frozen on HTC start screen!!!!

I am Such a NOOB!!
My HTD Wildfire phone is stuck on the HTC startup screen.
This happened after;
I rooted it with unRevolked3
Copied this rom to the SD card, and installed it : update-cm-6.1.0-RC1-Buzz-signed.zip
This I have tried already:
Downloaded shipped rom
Tried to flash from, but i got a Error 170 USB connection message. It was unable to communicate with the phone, since the phone hasnt fully booted up.
Also install 0050_htc_froyo_2.2_orginal_kernel_v2 as suggest by a thread I found here.
Have also tried to flash with the 0001_WildPuzzleROM_v8.0.11 rom.
Please help!!!!!!!!!
Thanks in advanced
Is rooting procces with unrevoked succes?
If succes did you have backup with your previous system?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
rooting with unrevolked was a success.
I do not have a backup of previous system..... <----me NOOB
Hold Volume down - press power = Bootloader
Let HBOOT finish.
Go down to Recovery
Press Power Button
Wait for Recovery to load
Go down to Wipe Cache Partition - press trackball (button w hole at bottom of phone)
Go down to YES - press trackball - wait
Go to wipe data/factory reset - press trackball - yes - trackball - wait.
go to Install Zip from SDCard - trackball - choose the one you want (i normally use wildpuzzle) but wont work w overclocking for me - yet...so now on cyanogen - or openfire (currently testing both) - trackball - yes - wait.
and a VERY important step IF you froze on HTC screen before - you NEED to also install Jacobs kernel 4.1 same way that you installed openfire... that can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=798471
Must be 4.1 - no other will work. - and for me 4.1 does not work on wildpuzzle...but does work on the others...
after flashing kernel 4.1 - reboot.
wait for it - should take 2-3 mins but MAY take up to 10-15 mins on first boot...
good luck!

Fireplayer, you're awesome!! Thanks for taking the time to write up such a precise set of instructions. I think I know what I might have done wrong the first time, I didnt wait long enough for the first boot. This may or may not be the cause. But all the other threads never said it could take as long as 15 mins on first boot!! Thanks for making that an important point.
The phone is working again!!! Thanks HEAPS!!!

Reboot system in Clockwork recovery not working properly

Each time I try to reboot the system via clockwork recovery it shuts down but doesn't restart. I have to remove the battery each time to power it back up.
Any idea why this is happening or ways to fix it?
Running Ice Glacier rom.
If you're using the power button to select reboot, it's not shutting down, it's putting the screen to sleep. Use the trackpad.

No, I use the track pad.
Ya I have the same issue .. Everytime I flash a rom or backup restore it won't reboot ... Doesn't matter how I select reboot phone.
Really wish they would update this already ... Another reason why I never really cared much for rom manager .. Used to use that armon ra or whatever it was .. Did like that one.

Happens to me too only when booting into recovery with rom manager... if I shutdown and boot into recovery myself it seems to restart fine afterwards
I 2nd the RA comment... I just always hated the NO ... NO ... NO ... NO ... YES ... NO ... NO ... ordeal with clock work...
I've been talking to Bart about porting his RA recovery to the mt4g so hopefully one of us or someone will have the time

Did you recently do the "true root" method? if so open rommanager and reflash the recovery and it will fix it...

[Q] Clockworkmod Recovery Issue

Hi guys, the issue I'm having is: I try to flash a zip file in clockworkmod recovery, but it always brings me to the four option blue text screen, always trying to update the update.zip. I can't get into the many option green text screen where i can flash a zip from sd card. I uninstalled & reinstalled, but it won't ever go to that screen. Can anyone help? Thanks.
How are you getting into clockwork? 3 button boot or app? Of its the app, then you done have a kernel installed that is capable of doing it that way. Try 3 button boot. Vol down, cam, and power..

I did the 3 button recovery, which brings me to the blue recovery screen where i can't flash zips from sd. I can't get it to the green screen recovery, tried from rom manager but it also brings me to the blue screen. I don't know what to do.
somthing got bunked up when installing clockwork,,,try installing the new 2.5.5 clockwork, this also has the redirector, which is not going to help unles your using an app to get into clockwork, but you might as well have the latest version, use the one click.zip found on here, sorry I cant link you to it at the moment, see if that helps.

Did I brick my phone? Recovery possible?

I installed the latest build of Cyanogen Mod 7 on MyTouch 4G, and everything went smoothly, but now my phone won't turn on at all. Nothing happens when I hit the power button. Not even a splash screen which I thought was weird. I have a recovery file, but if I can't access the bootloader/recovery screen, can't really recover it.
Any suggestions? I luckily have a backup Windows phone 7 near me (HD2), but I'm just wondering if the MyTouch 4G can be recovered.
Thanks!
Edit: Also note, that I can't do anything, including hboot, fboot, get anywhere. It will not power on, and looks like it won't recharge as well.
Edit #2: Uh..looks like taking out the Sim Card worked.
Have you try pressing volume key down and power at the same time to get into Hboot then scroll down into recovery and wipe
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
For the longest time, I couldn't power it up until I took out the sim card. Which I finally figured out. I'm doing the wipe right now, thankfully. I'm trying to figure out now what I did wrong...
Thats gotta be scary im running cm7 now had no problems flashing any of the builds knock on wood lol

this happened to me earlier when i pushed/flashed/installed (whats the correct term here?) CM 6.1.2 on to my phone. i thought i did it right then i went to reboot and it just shut off. wouldnt turn on or anything. thought i ****ed up and bricked it. after taking battery/sd card/sim card out it worked though.
it was SO relieving.
Is CM7 not stable?
Battery Pull
All you have to do is a batt pull (no sim or ext. sd) and go into H Boot ( Hold bottom volume buttton and then power on button & hold until you see letters and release both buttons and you will be in H Boot) then hit recovery. If that doesnt work and your flash screen is stuck, go back to H Boot, hit recovery...wait for green letters up top, go down to backup and restore then hit restore.
I have the same problem
I tried to Flash the cyanogen mod, i followed the prompts i click the button where its supposed to go into recovery, then completely blank screen. I left it for 15 minutes then took the battery in then out but now it won't power on and shows no sign of life. PLEASE HELP ME. the sim card thing doesn't seem to work for me.

No, it doesn't power on or show the LED screen at all.
And also doesn't show up on ADB.
wrong recovery image
If you are flashing cyanogen 6, use clockworkmod 2..x. If you are flashing cyanogen 7, use clockworkmod 3..x
Not sure why some roms don't work on clockwork mod 2..x.... Maybe a limitation in a past clockworkmod which was fixed in a later version.

it's because clockworkmod recovery 2.x only flashes up to ext3 filesystems. the new clockworkmod recoveries, anything above v3.x has support for both ext3 and 4 filesystems. since cyanogenmod 7 has an ext 4 filesystem, the ROM will not flash correctly on clockworkmod 2.x.

dhd problem help please

ive done the advanced hack kit root on my desire hd . seemed to go through fine didnt say any errors etc. but the phone wont boot on std rom or hd revolution rom. tried a complete wipe before install of new rom but no luck either. its just stuck on the tmobile boot screen
hellllppppp!!!!
Try downloading ther Rom again then flash you might have a bad download

if your phone is stuck in a boot loop, try taking battery out. Then put it back in. Then, while pressing Volume UP press the power. Then use the volume buttons to navigate into recovery.
after re downloading formating reflashing several times i took it to a fairly local repair shop who have done rooting etc a lot.... they coudn't figure it out either and have sent it away to someone who might.
thanks anyway
