Hey guys, I was floating around in the att galaxy s II forums cuz I'm flashing my buddies phone for him and came across a thread posted where a guy has his phone set up with the N64 Emulator using this micro USB to HDMI adapter to play it on his TV and then using a bluetooth controller to play it. Has anyone tried this? The adapter says it's compatible with the epic 4g.

Misleading.
The port on the E4GT is not MicroUSB, it's a MHL port.
MHL is basically microusb compatible but with extra pins for HDMI.
This will NOT work on the Epic.

I see. After rereading the adapter I see it says the E4GT and not the Epic 4g as I had initially read it. Bah I'm jealous now! I hope the Galaxy Nexus will have the MHL port on it.

The Galaxy Nexus does have a MHL port.
The advantage of MHL, being combined USB and HDMI, is that TVs are going to come out with MHL ports. This allows the TV to supply power over the USB while HDMI is active, so you don't drain your battery.
No negatives, because Mini-HDMI already requires an adapter.....

Seen a post by bwcorvus in a Xoom rooting thread saying that he was charging his phone with his rooted Xoom, having the thunderbolt I was intrigued and wanted to test on my non-rooted Xoom. Not seeing this anyplace else I thought I would spread the word.
I bought a USB 2.0 female to Micro b Male Adapter from ebay for $2.99 and received it today; it worked like a charm!
If your like me and you have the thunderbolt and carry your Xoom around with you too, you now do not have to be too worried about using it because it may die.
Hope this is helpful.
Haha!!! I did the same with my iPhone I noticed that when I tried to access my music from the iPhone on the Xoom but all it did was charge the iPhone instead. Can be very useful I suppose!
That's awesome. I just need to find a mini usb to mini usb cable then. If they even make them.
Thats pretty sweet
You want micro to micro not mini... mini won't fit.

LOL whats so "ah ha" about this? USB has voltage at its port. phones that charge via usb can take advantage of this.

A liitle off topic
Anyone trying charging the xoom with the micro usb port yet? Even though Motorola already said no.

just wondering, what's the exact name of the cable?
Can't find it on ebay... micro to micro usb cable isn't specific enough or something...

How can I see on TV what I see on my tab? Not talking about allshare and apps like that.. but really switch my tablets screen on TV..? Searched a lot of forums, but nothing helpful. There is some about smart view, but first, its not computable on my TV I guess, as I don't see the option, and secondable, its not it anyway.. I need to see tab on TV.. anyone..? Thanks

Dude, this is not the 10.1 forum. This forum is for the original galaxy tab.
A mod will likely move it for you.
That he will.
You need buy this adapter: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...44455305&sr=8-1&keywords=galaxy+tab+10.1+hdmi
Plus a HDMI cable to connect tab to your TV.

Can't I do it wireless??? With a help of some 3rd party app?

You can get the HDMI adapter for the Tab 10.1.

Darn - my quick reply was not so quick.
No. What you are asking for must be baked into hardware. HTC has some wireless solution for its phone released in 2012. GTab 10.1 is old and Samsung didn't have any solution like that.
OK.. thank you..

Thinking about getting a MT4G off CL. Just wondering how this phone is. Any annoying issues that come up when moving to CM?
Thank you!
CM7 is most stable. I think CM 9 & 10 are good too but have its issues with full hd recording etc. The Sense 4.1 ROMs are great too.
I have a mt4g for sale on eBay

Just snagged one for 60 bucks off CL.
Load up Synthetic's Aospx ICS ROM and you'll be good to go.
I ended up rooting and getting S-off.
I just went with CM7 for now. Seems to work fine.
One thing I am wondering is: I have a 4GB nand and CM7 is only using a little of a GB of it. How can I reclaim the rest of that space?
Does Synthetic's Aospx ICS ROM have WIFI calling? I hang out in basements a lot!
I have synthetic loaded right now...mine doesn't have wifi calling but pretty sure there is a flash able zip in dev section

I'm on CM7. My phone charges just fine. Care to give us something a little less vague than "forever?'
Ordered my Nexus 4 on the 13th. Still waiting.

Sure, my phone was at a 10% charge when I got to work. I plugged it into my USB cable on my PC. and left it charging for 6 hours and my battery is not at 60%.

Let me point out that the wall charger outputs 5V DC @ 1A, while a USB port is rated at 5V DC @ 100mA, or 1/10 of the wall charger. Still, that seems a little slow. Did you flash at 100% battery?

Maybe it's time for a new battery.

Just a small correction - standard USB(2) port output is rated @500mA, and USB3 port is @800mA.

Thanks Jack. I promise I read 100mA somewhere years ago. Gotta love all that misinformation out there. I remember thinking, "How do they get all these devices to run on 100mA?" Makes sense now.

Does anyone know where to get a rubber plug/cover of some kind to put in the slim port when it is not being used to protect it from dust? I found several to cover headphone ports but can't find one for the slim port.
There are plenty on eBay. Just search for micro usb dust

Is it a micro usb cover though? It is a mini usb port as far as I can tell which is a different shape. There are very few on ebay. Only 1 mini usb option.
Its micro.

Really? Didn't know that. Thanks :good: That'll be easy to find then.
I've to buy a gift from my sisters bf, he has a nexus 4 and wanted to connect it up to the TV (so they can watch movies/tv shows)...basically like a WD Live box. Anyway, after reading some posts today I'm a little confused at which method is best? Cable or gadget?
Just whatever provides him with the best experience when watching movies etc. I know the N4 doesnt support MHL, is there a way round this/what do you guys do for charging when connecting it up to the tv?
Also, I seen people talk about NETGEAR Push2TV, but from what I read there is a delay? (not good for movies/tv?)
Thanks in advance, I dont have the phone to test...so thought this would be the best place to ask
I have the Netgear Push2TV and there is a delay. Very small though. Movies are great on it but I wouldn't recommend it for gaming.
You could always buy him a Slimport adapter on amazon. Same concept as the Push2TV, just, its not wireless. But it has no delay and allows it to be charged simultaneously. Just like MHL.

Thats awesome, thanks for replying speedygonzo (you live up to your name lol). I do like the idea of a wireless connection, but maybe the cable would provide a better experience?
Just to confirm, is it the slimport:

or is there something else?
Cheers again guys,
