[Q] Is this battery life normal? - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've started taking my NC1 to the gym with me to watch stuff while I'm on the bike. (Cartoons, lol) After playing 6 episodes, totaling 2 hours, 7 minutes, and 42 seconds, my NC1 has used 36% of it's battery, with 64% remaining.
The files are encoded with Xvid @ 1031KBps, with MP3 audio @ 48Khz/128KBps, played through RockPlayer with software decoding.
Screen brightness is @ about 40%. My CPU has been under-volted as far as it will go, with max speed set @ 800 Mhz. CM 7.1 stable.
Thanks!

I would think thats not bad, at that rate almost 6hrs media playback.

50 hrs of battery life with Burt Droid Rom

HI guys,
I wanted to share with you what i have done on my phone, i got over 50 hrs of battery life on it.
Now i did not have a lot of phone calls these 2 days, but i did have one phone call that lasted almost an hour.
I also surfed the web, and downloaded a few apps under this battery as well.
its showing 2 days 2 h 30 m and i still had 4 percent left.
Honestly I do not know if this is good or not, but iv seen where people are happy with 20+ hours so this should be in the zone of goodness.
my setup
Burnt Droid lasted build.
setcpu- underclock only, no overclock,
juice- purchased the ultimate, so at night it kills everything but phone.
here is this pic

Cool! I'll have to give it a try.

need way more info. kernel? profiles if any? underclock amount? battery size? bump charged / SBC? rom link? i don't recall ever hearing of burnt droid

I believe its an EVO rom

Can anyone confirm this report? I've been toying with multiple ROM's/Kernel's and the best I get out of it with normal usage is about 8-10 hours.

I get great battery life (70-80* hours from full charge to dead *This battery life was directly after a wipe of the battery stats. After a few weeks of regular use I'm seeing about 60-70 hours of life (full charge > dead) with these settings:
ROM: SkyRaider 3.5
Kernel: Incredikernel
I'll echo another member's post. Turn things off that you aren't using (i.e. 3g, wifi). I will only turn these things on when in use (checking email, surfing web, etc). Along with 3g, and wifi, your screen brightness is a huge battery killer. I have mine set around 20%.
Another thing I found to help is having SetCPU profiles set. Here are my settings:
main: 1075 max, 245 min. ondemand (set on boot checked)
screen off: 245 max, 128 min. priority 100
Temp>39 C: 245 max, 128 min. priority 99
Charging/Full: 1075 max, 245 min. priority 98
Battery < 20% 883 max, 245 min priority 97
Battery < 40% 998 max, 245 min priority 96
The above settings give me outstanding performance while the phone is in use, and really help to save battery power when not in use.
Dang. Impressive! That's for sure. I don't like the idea of underclocking much though. How was performance? Everything running smoothly?

Runs beautifully. I'll even run pandora with the screen off (245 max) without hiccups.

solution for being to hot when playing games

So we've all known that this overheating is caused by CPU. I tried this overclocking widget, setup maximum cpu frequency as 800MHZ and minimum 500MHZ and tried playing games again. battleheart 30 mins and didn't get heat up any more. besides the power draining problem seemed to be less noticeable.
I read the CPU is an overclocked 1ghz which would explain the high heat when playing games. I personally have mine clocked at 800mhz using SetCPU at all times and it no longer gets very hot.
will give this a go...fed up of burnt fingers lol
come back to report. just now played around 1 hour game, battleheart, with max cpu set 800MHZ, power went down from 65% to 41%, not too bad. guess I can play games at least 4 hours. most important thing is never feel the heat again.

Very high temps when gaming/benchmarking are these normal?

Before I call up EE and ask for a replacement I would just like to check if these temps are normal and if anyone else can run the same test and check what there temp gets to on the Note 4.
Firstly my Note 4 idles at around 36 degrees C which is pretty normal from what I can see. When running the Epic Citadel Benchmark on max Quality the Temperature reached a very hot 77 degrees C before I decided to stop it and shut it down.
It also reaches temps above 70 degrees C in Grand Theft Auto Vice City aswell on max settings.
Could a couple of you guys with the Note 4 please download and run the Epic Citadel Benchmark.... and use the CpuTemp app to measure the CPU temp while its running. This app has an overlay feature so you can watch the temp while the benchmark is running and I would love to know what the max temperature is that it reaches during it so I know if my phone is normal or faulty.
I get a score of about 52fps but the temperature just seems to high to me even though my idle temp is normal.
it would be very much aprechiated thank you.
That sounds about right. I just downloaded it and ran the benchmark on High Performance and got 56.4 FPS avg and the temp was around 52 degrees (started at idle, which was about 35, 36 degrees). Actually it basically spent most of its time during the benchmark at 1.5 GHz and just over 50 degrees. Then I let it cool down a bit and ran it again on Ultra High Quality and got a 48.9 FPS avg and the temp was around 77-78 degrees, spiking to around 80, but even at 80 degrees it was still fully clocked at 2.7 GHz.
But at least for me I notice even when using a couple pop up windows to play a youtube video (music, static image) while browsing Facebook and having Messenger chat heads up that the phone heats up quite a bit, going towards and around 70 degrees the more FB posts I go down and I can see it mostly around 1.5 GHz but it's still stuttery. I use CPU temp and frequency in status bar from XPosed Framework so I did have to keep dragging the status bar down to check. I'm curious what the scrolling performance would be like using ART instead but I'd have to give up XPosed and I don't think I'm ready to do that yet.

Games lag like crazy after just 5 minutes of gaming....

Got my phone refurb, no idea if this is a hardware issue. I have been tinkering with the phone a lot, rooted, installed custom rom, de-installed custom rom, then went back to stock rom with custom kernel googy-max. (All clocks are stock).
Just right now i was playing This War Of Mine and i realized that the game started getting extremely choppy after a few minutes of gameplay. I downloaded FPS meter and CPU Z to check for thermal throttling, but i still can hardly believe this is the case. In the span of 5 minutes my FPS dropped from an average of 40 to a 12. Right after this drop I checked my temps on CPU Z. Turns out battery temp was at 33.4c and Exynos-therm was at about 54c (I checked real quick before the temps drop)
Should i even throttle at those temps? I tried with other games, same thing, takes more or less time depending on the game, but always happens in the span 5 - 10 mins.
Try suemax kernel.

Drop in fps while playing games like fifa and asphalt

Hello i am having issue with especially when playing fifa 16 the fps drops after 10 min of gaming.Like first 10 min it runs on 30-32 fps and after 14-15 fps.Well is this due to the gpu temp limiter or some other thing?Tested this on s6 it was running smoothly.
