SIM card holding mechanism... the pinnacle of Motorola Engineering :sarcasm:
I got in a weird situation today when I was required to enter the PUK code, and I couldn't enter it on the Milestone, so I had to remove the SIM card from it. I Googled and searched XDA and found nothing, so here it is: the definitive how to guide for SIM card removal on the Motorola Milestone 2
1) remove the backplate
2) remove the battery
3) remove the SD card (just in case)
4) make sure the battery pins are pointing at you and the phone is screen down
5) rotate the phone by 180 degrees
6) take a small needle
7) push the SIM card out with the pointy part of the needle by putting it on the SIM card at a 30 degree angle
8) enjoy

Best and easiest way is to use a nail cutter.

Didn't have a nail cutter handy, so I improvised
You guys make it sound so difficult. I just press down and slide it out. I don't use anything. I can make a youtube clip if you want.
Washing your hands and drying them well makes it a breeze. I used to struggle so much but its so much grippier when you do that

Just slide out with my tumb.. soo simple and easy way

Normally I use one edge of the backplate. It's always by hand and works very well.
I tried with everything, the finger and thumb thing didn't work, so after I destroyed the hinges above the card slots with a pocket knife, I used a needle.

Today i put a micro sd "sandisk" in my tablet but now i dont be able to remove it, when i push it nothing appen and the sd dont turn out, what is the correct metod to do this?
It's quite a firm fit, push it in with your fingernail and the spring will launch it out across the room.
Or if you dont have any fingernails use something like an opened paperclip or a table knife to push the microsd card in far enough to eject it.
Mark.
Does your tablet show that the micro sd card is in it's slot? I hope you didn't jam it between something. When first using my sd card slot I had to be careful. It felt like the inside of the slot had edges that made inserting the card a little difficult. I always listen for the 'click' when seating or unseating the card. Good luck.
Mine won't eject, either. I can feel it springing, but it doesn't pop out. I had to use a small flat screwdriver (think: eyeglass repair kit) to get it out.
Not a HUGE deal, since I likely won't be taking the SD card out much.
I would just get an exchange if I were you. Never know what you might break accidentally trying to pry it out.
After much work i've get out the sd, probably i push too hard. Now i push it very softly and im able to take out the sd without problem. Thanks to all
I find that if I push a little to the right (where the tabs on the SD card are) w/my fingernail, then it usually clicks and comes right out.
I almost lost my microsd a couple of times as it likes to shoot out across the room whenever I try to remove it.

bad sd slot
If you can, return it. There is problem with some of the tf101's. My sd went in and i couldn't get it out. I used a razor blade to remove it. Now that i have a replacement i also noticed the power button was also recessed to far in on the one with the bad card slot. On the replacement unit the power button and volume rocker function much much better.
Hi there,
I messed up with the 3G slot and now it won't recognize the 3G sim card. This happened when I tried to use a MicroSim without the appropriate adapter (yeah I'm crazy but..anyway). Then the card got stuck inside si I used a knife and some other sharp tools to try to extract it. After 30mn I managed to take out the microsim card but i think i must of damaged the pins because i couldn't see very well inside the slot. As a result, now when I insert my regular 3G card, the tab won't recognize it (Emergency call only, No sim card inserted.....).
Is there any way to open the tab so that i get a clear view inside the slot and eventually see what's broken inside ? Or should I say RIP 3G
Thanks for reading.
There is a guide floating around showing how to open your tab, need to do a search...
What I do remember is there's 2 screws at the bottom of the tab under rubber plugs, either side of the USB Connection slot... These need to be removed then you need to insert a thin blade or something that will go around the side and pop off the back cover without damaging the clips that hold it together...
Other than that I don't know, as I said, there is a guide on XDA somewhere...
Good Luck...

Thanks dude. Sounds scary man .... I'll give it a try
this happened to me too. only i inserted sim other way around and when pulling it out broke one of the pins. I found instructions on how to open tab, bought sim modul and replaced it. you should open the tab if you dont have warranty and see is it broken. +if you dont want to risk oppening it, use flashlight to take a peek inside the slot. you might actualy see what is the problem.

I'll open the damn tab tonight and see what's gonna happen !!! warranty has been voided long time ago anyway.\
Thanks
Here is the guide on what to do and how to open the tab

How to remove the SIM card easily ?
I'm still switching between my note2 and note3 until all is reconfigured; so I'm switching the SIM card as well.
removing the SIM is not easy on the Note3 due to the abscence of spring mechanism.
I wanted to share my solution, which is a very common answer to common problems: 'Duct Tape'.
Cut a small string of tape, stick on SIM, make a little handle by sticking the rest of the tape to itself; profit.
See pics in below links.

As is explained in the manual and quickstart guide:
REMOVE THE BATTERY BEFORE INSERTING OR REMOVING THE SIM.
Also, it rests 2 milimeter below the edge of the battery. If you lot, who are supposed to be tech-savvy, couldn't figure that one out by means of logical thinking, I weep for the future of humanity.
Indeed, I didn't try but I don't think you can remove the SIM with the battery in; even with the tape...
I use one tweezers to extract it. (Whitout battery)

For my Note 3 I never had a problem pulling it out
1. Take out the battery
2. Make sure your Thumb has some sort of friction (NOT SMOOTH)
3. Rest your thumb on the edge of the sim and pull downwards (Due to friction the sim pulls out with some force)
4. Done
I swapped sims like this from day 1 when I unlocked it and tested my friends sims in and out.
I never used a third party tool...
:good: good solution
I used a pencil eraser - the rubber provides plenty of grip, and the pencil eraser head is small, so it's the perfect tool. I easily switched SIMs back and forth using this method, with no problem.
My phone fell and i too became a victim of the uninsertable sim card and now im stuck with 3g.
Anybody found a fix for this?
Looks like the mechanism which holds the sim card broke or something.
Duct tape.

Either that or just super glue it. The spring felt a little too strong for tape so I went with the permanent fix.

Where exactly did you apply the Super Glue? And how did you hold the SIM in place while the glue set? The spring is pretty strong and "spits" the card out forcefully...

I applied it on top of the card. This worked for a little bit but failed a few days later. Too much glue got onto the contacts. I've given up now. Just going to use it with only 3G till I get a new phone.

Thanks for the reply. I was afraid of the super glue not holding up for too long. I might try hot glue, if I can keep the SIM wedged in there long enough for it to cure.

Solution without tape or glue
There is a notch on the back cover that can move and hold the SIM in place on the back cover on the phone.
If you slide the back snug (back cover from right to left assuming the word SHARP is upright) putting pressure on the notch area it will slide / push the SIM into position. Carefully snap the back on and you are good to go. I've had the problem for months but it seemed like an easy fix. It will eventually go on its own to 4G, but a restart works faster especially if you are unsure if it is in place. If you drop the phone or switch memory cards often then maybe use tape or something else, as the SIM is small and might not be easy to find if it shoots out.
Found the fix!!!!!
OK all you have to do is right above the SIM card you can peel back the tape / sticker once you do that there will be a little tab in the top left right corner that you can pop up and then the other way . then u will see that when u stick your SIM card all the way in and you'll see a little bar that comes down in the top left corner n you'll notice that when you press your SIM card in there's a little bar that comes down if you if you take something and basically press that bar upwards (like a needle)bend it up it will actually keep your SIM card in works for me then just put the back on it works for me my 4G works[/B

Mine is broke too and only gets 3G.
I'll have to try that repair and see if it works.
Must be a bad engineering on the sim holder.
Anyone bothered by the S5's SIM card slot under the microSD card? Not only that, but it may be difficult to remove for some people. With the S3 (and other phones), removal is quite easy: just push in a little and it pops out enough to easily slide out. Cant do that on my S5 though. Videos on YT show this to be a common problem, although on too comfortable with the solutions offered. These may range from applying pressure on bottom of SIM and sliding out or using a pin/toothpick in a hole at top of SIM holder to nudge it out. However one solution I tried is easy as cake and much safer. Apply small piece of scotch tape at lower end of SIM card and it pulls out rather easily. Just thought I'd share. Cheers.
I've had my S5 about 15 months, never removed the SIM card once
