Apple is trying to kill sales of th Galaxy tab...

Hi, what evryone thinks about this that Apple is going down and is scared so much that makes all this online reviewers to kill the Galaxy tab with stupid reviews and remarks that the Galaxy tab is not good enugh and it is not the right size, and its not fluid enugh and so on...
I personnaly had an iPhone sence day one like 4 years and I had the iPad since it came out. And now I bought the Galaxy tab and its the Perfect size and I love it so much that I am going to get rid of my ipad and my iphone they are sh.t compairng to this. The Galaxy tab is 10 times better then iPad with evry way the size, the feel and the Android is so much better with its castomisations and all the staff it offers.

LOL.. Dude. personally i think IPAD and iphone is great. There is no need to throw them away. Android too, it's doing a great job. With its open source. It has been catching up fast and after all, the community did a great job in pushing it but all in all, there is stilll a lot of catching up.

Yeah I agree, there are pluses and minuses for both. What I do think proves that the Galaxy tab is viable are all the people on craigslist wanting to trade an ipad for a galaxy tab.

I can't say this is unexpected, considering their history of trying to copyright air, light, sounds, etc.
Well, good for them -- I'm now going to give the 10" Tab a closer look. Might go well with my S2 in the near future.

Gotta admire the gumption of Apple to sue the biggest supplier of the chips they use. Guess they'll use that as ammo against Samsung though.
Probably something along the lines of;
"it's not fair, we 'gave' them all our tech, showed them how to make a tablet, THEN they took that and made an infringing product".
Already had mac-heads gloating with glee, never mind the facts that there were a few dozen Android tablets (albeit not amazing quality, but still...) before Apple would even admit they had a tablet for release.
But yeah, they must be getting scared. Projections are showing how the iPhone isn't getting any new market share, but Android's eating everyone else's lunch. Guess they realise they have to act /really/ early on the tablet area to slow them down, and if they CAN take the Samsung phones out, all the better.
Makes sense really from Apples point of view. They're going after the major licensees of Android as warnings to others and increasing the cost.
But not like the manufacturers really have any options. Board room talks are probably discussing 'well, if this android is an issue, can we do something else?" without really thinking that if they cave on this, whatever else they produce won't have a chance to take off, or if it does, it'll get attacked too.
No, Samsung/Motorola (/mourn Nokia), HTC need to gang up and say back to Apple 'No, YOU back off"

No, there are LOTS of other winners. There are all the BMW dealers who sells loads of cars to lawyers, state and federal lobbyists who get paid big dollars to insure that the lawyers keep on winning, all the legislators in various states and congress people in Washington whose campaign coffers are filled with money from lawyers. Then there are the owners of all the private schools who educate the sons and daughters of lawyers for healthy fees, all the boutique owners who sell expensive clothing to lawyers and the wives of lawyers, the country clubs who charge top dollars for lawyers to play golf and drink imported beer.... and so many others. The list of winners just goes on and on.
The losers are the customers of both Apple and Samsung who will pay more for their products so as to support their legal departments and associated legal fees.

After reading this "article" i have lost all interest in Gizmodo for good. I take more care pooping in a toilet then this rush job they call reporting.
The device looks pretty good.. but not sure what value i could have with it when i have my Streak 5.

Apple products are very good,fast,polished and very pricey....it is going to take a while for the iPhone users to get their devices jailbroken and unlocked.It is all about rumors when it comes to that,and lots cat and mouse...Apple keeps releasing new updates and the hackers keep trying to jailbreak with no much success in the last few weeks.
I got tired of a very stable system which does not allow you to download any file unless you purchase a downloader and if you download with it you can't move the files around,they have to stay with such app,you can't install any non-crapple store apps.If you want an unlocked iPhone 4 you might want to sell your car too.
Once again the rumors regarding jailbreak/unlock.....you can see all this online too.
I would much rather have more control of my devices,that's why I pay for them.

The streak 7 is honestly a solid android tablet. It may not be the "best", but atleast its not another $150 big POS that you can buy at walgreens. Lol.
IMO dell gave it a good shot and they should be proud of have made.

I agree - not a good thing. With a ton of tablets coming down the pike, as much as I like my 5" Streak, I can't imagine that the 7" Streak will be that compelling given that screen.

So, what's wrong with the article. I think it's spot-on.

I think the article was well written and bang on point. The Streak 7 was a lazy effort and barely worth releasing.

This has nothing to do with apple.
The Streak 7 is lazy. I would say his points are all well taken.
And the Galaxy Tab is nice. I enjoyed my experiences with it.

Hate on Apple all you want, I do and I've had Android devices since January 2008. Bottom line, the iPad is a far better functioning device than any Android tablet currently available. I really think that Honeycomb and the Motorola Xoom will shift things in Android's favour though

Agreed. I thought the article was thrown togiether in 5 minutes and the video was done in 30 seconds... I don't care if the device sucks... but if your supposed to be reporting on gadgets that will influence people.. you should take the time to go over the pros and cons...
and recommending the galaxy tab really put it over the top. Like you will ever see an update on that device now that the tab 2 has been announced. Most people won't get burned again by samsung after the galaxy s fiasco.

Exactly, the person who made the decision seems to be completely having no sense. Why would I buy a 7" tablet if it has the same resolution as 5" Streak,
which is more portable, and light weight. This product is like a formality for the
7" inch tablet. Dell should just keep 5" inch size, and cut another $50 to get more sales(with new CPU and 4G chip).

The review you posted was for the 5" Streak, this thread is discussing the 7" Streak.

The problem with the Gizmodo review, is that its not an actual review. They're using a $450 tablet as canon fodder saying its **** n all, but its only selling for $450 (outright)!
If it was priced sans $750 (outright) onwards like the Xoom and LG tablets are going to be priced, then fine, rip its ass out and fcuk it over.
Dell made it cheap (mind you, its just the screen thats rubbish) and is selling it cheap. There are far worse tablets out there right now around the same price, but with half the goodies of the Streak 7 - So sue Dell if they went for the low end of the scale... Take it or leave it - thats the bottom line...

Ive found most websites for example gizmodo, T3, engadget etc favour Apple products, its something ive come to live with. Softpedia is pretty good.
And another thing, everyone always compares mobile devices to iphones/ipads. A friend recently posted on facebook about the motorola xoom and another person commented 'is it an ipad killer tho'. I was like, why would anything need to kill the ipad?
It really grinds my gears.

Hate on Apple all you want but the iPhone and iPad are both excellent devices.
They have, in the past, favoured Apple because most of their products until very recently have had far better out of the box functionality and let's face it, that's what the vast majority of users want. Until recent times of Froyo and Snapdragons I longed to have my phone be as responsive, and have as fast a browser as the iPhone. The Dream and the iPhone 3G came out around the same time in Aus. My Dream, although I loved Android, was amazingly slow next to the iPhone. Furthermore, reviewers are STILL comparing Android phones to the iPhone and even though it has far inferior hardware, it STILL stacks up. How do you think an out of the box Dream would compare to the Desire? If a reviewer compared the two you would say, "yes the Desire is better, but the Dream is older hardware with older software!" Both of these limitations apply equally to the iPhone, yet for many it was the yardstick for the Desire when it was released.
I've never owned an iPhone, only played with mates, and I've owned Android phones since the Dream. I personally think that the iOS user experience is too limiting for me, that's not to say it's bad. I know some people who have as HTC Desire and have never customised the home screens in any way.

And without owning any of them and using them for a good 2-3 months, how can you justify yourself?
I own both devices, and after the "honeymoon" period of about a month, they're now sitting in my cupboard and about to hit ebay...
I think if you've never owned an Apple product, but get to use a friends for a few minutes, you do love them. But day in, day out, using Apple devices just makes you dumb, and they get boring very quickly with so many restrictions. To keep it interesting you have to continue to buy more apps because the free ones are just rubbish, or worst case, jailbreak to get the features you really want. But, this is rutt that Apple wants you to get into. Get bored, spend more $$. The iPhone & iPad line is all about the revenue, not about the user experience.
To be honest, I've owned every version of the iPhone since its inception in 2007, and its been the same **** but in a different body since then. There have been no Major leaps in software or tech, and the iPhone has almost always been behind in core features (eg, camera, 3G, etc) when you look at their competitors (except maybe for capacitive screens).
I will admit, where Apple products shine is in the looks. Their devices are top notch build (except for the 3G and 3GS plastic case cracks and yellow LCD screens) - but they look very nice, and feel good in the hand.
Its just a pitty that the rest is just rubbish though.
I'm so thankful for Google and Android. Theres loads of choice. And now the Hardware war is about to begin - the first time Apple will be a spectator watching dual core handsets and brilliant tablets bring fluid gaming and a brilliant user experience to all of us.

Honestly, isn't it the case now that Jobs isn't spearing the marketing campaign anymore? The commercials lack the douchey weird quality that they had and now almost seem boring, cold. Maybe it's just me...
But yea, when one marketing strategy doesn't work you shift to another.

Ipad 2 strategy up to now has been mostly about speed, weight, size, and to a much lesser extent, apps. Now that the first three are not theirs for much longer, apple is doing damage control marketing to go back on what they said before... Speed, weight, and size are nice... But it's all about the apps... Standard apple douche move.
Sure it sounds bad, but I cannot wait for jobs to die. Then some of the dislike I have for apple might go... But I doubt it.

Are you serious right now? You want someone to drop dead because they know how to market their products properly? Apple is a business. Business is about money. If you have to bash your competition, and make your product seem like a god compared to all the others, you will do it. Hate him if you will, he knows what he is doing. He is a sleezy business man making millions with a cult like following for his brand. However, his attitude is a major flaw. He doesn't seem like the nicest of people.

Yes, I think jobs is a prick and an elitist arsehole since I became aware of him in the 80ies. It's mostly his personality (snobbish commercials and lack of choice in hardware also) that keep me from giving apple a fair shake when evaluating their products. With him truly out of the picture... The choice in hardware is better...

What apple has over any android tablet is availability here the the uk, you can walk into any electronics retailer and buy an ipad, but if you want an android tablet (example asus transformer, acer iconia which are both for sale) 'can i buy one today, over the counter'? no you'll have to order one which takes a week

PC world have never heard of the Asus transformer, and the iconia is mail order only
Buyitdirect won't have the transformer until may.
On the television news today they're stating that retails sales are lowest for 11 months!! is it hardly surprising. If you read a review about something that's ****, and would spend twice the time being repaired than what you would using it, then we've got loads of those, but if you want something that's remotely decent we don't stock it in store.

It may be going about it different but usually big corporations tend to try something new if the first doesnt work. I can't blame Steve Job...but then again I'm not a super hardcore wish someone dead for making a ipad commercial android fan.

Ahaha, I love how apple, having nothing to show except scaled up iphone apps is forcing into the ad "medical professionals uses of the ipad".
Not only this looks elitist and even colder but it is also completly unappropriate for medical use. I do work into the field of radiology and hell a 1080* res screen is way way way too much fail to look at radios or CT scans. You'd have to zoom in all the time and miss the bigger picture. Another point is also that a iOS device cannot plug into a classic medical environment that is 99% of the times using windows computers or remote servers without even a WIFI connectivity for security reasons.
Too long didn't read : Apple ipad2 makes you a doctor and allows your spoiled children to draw numbers with their fingers while their brain and cerebellous white matter is wiring, so that obviously, they won't even be able to handle a pen later on. Technology is not enough, you just need the smug.

Yea the whole medical app thing is a bit comical to me. I guess it's nice to have, but so what? 99.9% of the people who own an iPad don't buy one for the functionality mentioned there. Apple touted "thinner, lighter, faster" until none of those were true anymore and now it's "all about the apps". Outside of Netflix, there's nothing that it has that I want.

I agree the tests were too slanted toward the Note, but it was designed to show what it can do that the iPhone cannot. I am not sure you cannot get an app to edit PowerPoint files, but the rest would be quite difficult without some very sophisticated software. The photo editing and screenshot / drawing is all, but it makes a great point!
The fact is this is marketing. Nothing has to be true or fair. As is being argued in comments, Apple tried exactly this with the caricatures of the Apple vs PC users. Payback's a *****, guys!
I believe the iPhone was a great phone when it was created. The iPad was also a great idea, much better than the laggy Windows Tablets. Some of the best things about these have been copied in Android. The painful truth is that the phone and pad have not improved. The painful reason is the same one that Apple, who started with the first commonly available GUI (I know about X-Windows, before you start, heck, I used to use it, but it was not in common use). That reason is a lack of change. The reason for that reason? A closed platform, and for both hardware and software.
Look at what happened to the very open architecture of the IBM PC in the same time frame. Look what is happening to Android devices in the same time frame. I think the reason for the stagnation is clear.

Prior to the GNote I had owned every iteration of iPhone since it was first released (preceded by Windows Mobile phones, Pocket PC's, and almost every model of Palm devices up to the IIIc). So far, the GNote is by far the most functional device I have owned. Since I am using it to replace a 4s and iPad 2, I have not found it to be too large - in fact, if it was another 1/2 inch I wouldn't mind (that's what she said <g>).
Anyways, no regrets with my decision to jump ship. Great device!

As much as I love the Note, and as much as I love seeing Android put Apple to shame, I do think it would be a much fairer test if the 4S were pitted up against the GS2 i9100. The GS2 was considered the best smartphone of 2011, and it's no wonder! Love that thing!

Yeah the comparison is stacked as I can do all those things with my wife's Iphone albeit with third party apps and so would any self respecting geek. Then again so are Iphone commercials, as is latest windows challenge.
It is almost imperative that advertising not be fair.
The reality is that the lady is just average consumer and as such, they are pretty dumb.
Hell, in my immediately circle of family and friends there's about 20 iphones and none of them know anything past calling, checking messages, emails and Facebook.

I Love the Galaxy Note, but this time I feel embarrassed and ashamed by this ad.
Samsung went too low with this.
If I go to the street with my 7 year old Windows Mobile, and run a similar test against most recent android phones, what will I prove?
Besides, there are capacitive stylus for iPhones, and if it was an iPhone user with one of these capacitive stylus to make a similar add against any unprepared android user, it will have the same result.
I understand there are a lot of iPhone haters around here, but one thing is that we know our phone is better that an iPhone for many reasons, other is to offend and ridicule others because they don't follow you.

The original web ads about the features were so much more "Woweeee! I want that!" for me....

Just ran a sun spider bench mark and got 1331. So a lot better than 4s. Its obvious how the devices differ and which device is clearly superior. No idea why apple fan boys get so crazy when a better device than theirs gets released though. If another company releases a higher spec device... why does it matter. Its almost certainly gonna happen to us note users at some point. But I take pride at the moment.

What I don't understand is why so many Note users dislike this ad so much. It's not like this is the only commercial out there that is 'unfair' to its competition.

Sold my beloved note!!!!!!

So i just sold my white galaxy note that i loved so much!! The thing is that i realised that i use my smartphone 98% of the time for web browsing. So i sold it to make room for an ipad 3. I know yall probably saying that im crazy but i knew my note was going to b temporary until the Galaxy SIII was going to be released. i sold my ipad 2 a few weeks ago for the newest ipad but i spent the money lol. so now i have an old school flip phone that i love cause the battery last for days hahaha. But just wanted to share this and tell you guys have fun with the note, it is an incredible device!

I don't understand your logic. You are waiting for the S III when that will have a smaller screen than the note. How is that better for web browsing? maybe I misunderstood you.

lol. I just sold both my 4S and Ipad2 64GB 3G. 4S went to pay for most of my Gnote and the ipad to maybe an Ipad3.
I also sold my HP touchpad for a mini itx board. I'm building an undertv media PC with my old Q9450 quad core processor. I could not sell the processor for a good price so I figure I'ld use it for something. Tough to beat a 65watt quad core for a media pc.

To each their own....if you can hold your iPad 3 up to your ear and make phone calls, then I guess you made the right choice. Apple is about as corrupt a company as they come, however...and I refuse to touch anything they make...ever.

I will never understand the hype about iphone/ipads. Its perfect for people who lack computer knowledge. Thats why my wife and mom have one along with the less savvy coworkers.

Wow you are 1 emotional fella. Yea i made a thread about ICS release on the note but it wasnt a rant it was impatience for ICS on the note. For someone who supports android and the open source youre very close minded. Reading your post i was laughing with my friends lol. Anyway i love tech stuff in general and i used to own the 3 first iphones. But when the nexus 1 came out i chose android for phone and never looked back. (Probably wont any time soon). But as far as tablet goes , in my opinion, the ipad is the clear winner. I like having an android phone and an ipad, as a consumer i get the best of both world and that what makes me happy But you probably dont understand that cause if you knew how to read and understand, i will get a Galaxy SIII which is guess what???? Android.

Especially in a closed ecosystem were nothing changes. Some people will buy anything for a name. These are the same people who feel absolutely ridiculous and ashamed when they see my huge assed Note, that I don't have to keep 6 inches from my face to be able to see.

I respect your opinion, apple is probably corrupt, but their not the only one. Lol no i dont plan on making calls with my ipad. I sold my ipad 2 and my phone for the note, a great device, but i tought it could replace both my phone and tablet but it isnt to me so i decided to sell it to get an ipad 3 and wait for the Galaxy SIII

SIII is rumored to have a 4.85in screen, that will be enough to be for Web browsing and multi-media entertainment. I might just get it myself. If it has a SAMOLED + display then I'm sold, hate this banding and the black blocks when viewing videos.

to each his own! God I hated the iPhone. I had 4 break on me They were crappy. But I have to say: they just worked. But wait! I haven't had a phone "not work" in years. So... I guess people can stop saying that. Yes, it's simple. But my roommate has a Blackberry 9900 (because I had one, and he loved it) and he was an iPhone 4 user, too, and was constantly frustrated about what they allowed and didn't allow him to do, multitasking, etc.
I understand why some people might want an iPhone or iPad. I personally dislike the iPad because it's just a GIANT iPhone with LESS features!
Regardless, I hope you enjoy your device By the time the SIII is released, the SIV will be in the making and then we'll all wait for that. And by the time they announce the SIV, the next device will be almost nearing its completion...
I personally don't care! I get the device I want when I want it because something better will ALWAYS come around!
The note is just FANTASTIC. It's fast, stable (no crashes!), battery life is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than ANY OTHER (smart)phone! The camera is great. I love typing because it hardly ever makes any mistakes. I don't know what else to say I love this device.

You should not conclude where this person goes by not even having the proper evidence to deduce where he carries his iPad with him. So to you smartphone yes, but smart responder no, and I render your argument invalid.

W/o the iPhone we would've never gotten this far in mobile technology, there may be Apple haters, but we all have to admit that the iPhone started it all, and most if not all of us once thought that it was the best device in your life. And also why didn't your friend jailbreak his, there are much better things to that replace the iPhone's "multi-tasking", I forgot what they were, since I haven't used an iPhone in so long. BB should just go die in a ditch already.

Personally I will never consider having an iPhone just because I'll feel like being in a prison. You cant even have a widget, for god sake were in the 21st century...
The same way I don't like tablets, whether it's an android or apple. First of all you have to hold it with 2 hands, you have to carry it in a bag and finally its really annoying while browsing when you have to click on a link in the middle of the screen.
I read alleged specifications of the SGS3 and I don't think that I'll consider getting rid of my Note for it. Smaller screen, quad core yes but on the other hand we all know that it will take ages for developers to fully take advantage of it.
