genokolar's partitioning zip to resize /data - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

hi
I have oxygen rom and I can't access to internal memory, but I read this "use genokolar's partitioning zip to resize /data". where I can find this app?

By searching the forum maybe?
There is a button on ideos X5 general that says "Search This forum"
If you put "use genokolar's partitioning zip to resize /data" you will find this thread:
"Custom you data partition's size"

installing darktremor on Wildfire/CM6.1

I want to install darktremor A2SDExt on my wildfire and am trying to follow the instructions below
http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=158809660835039
I have downloaded the zip from the site but cannot find the partition sd card menu under clockwork recovery 2.5.01 as stated in the instructions. My menu layout is totally different. I have a partitions menu with options
mount /system
mount /data
unmount / cache
unmount /sdcard
mount /sd-ext
format boot
format system
format data
format cache
format sdcard
format sd-ext
mount USB storage
Could someone please walk me through the process of how I partition my sd card for use with darktremor.
Use ROM Manager.
Thanks for the info I used Rom manager and used the default options to partition my sd card which created two partitions I think called EXT and swap. I copied all my stuff back from my computer to SD card. Then I flashed darktremor.zip
I opened up terminal and typed the following
a2sd cachesd (move dalvik to sd card)
and got a whole load of messages saying permission denied. I have definitely got root so wtf? Any ideas where I'm going wrong. I am reading stuff about EXT 3 and EXT 4. I definitely didn't get the option to create anything like that. I don't think my partitions are right
Try typing su before that. It will require superuser access.
Thanks you're the man. It worked.
Wow I have 128 apps installed on my phone including 35 games and still have 102Mb free internal memory .

[Q] Help with update.zip

I use a Galaxy 3 I5801, with DDJP2 stock and rooted.
I tried to apply kyrillos' new Honeycomb theme by flashing the zip file provided in the v5.0_Extra_package by renaming the file Honeycomb_theme-signed.zip to update.zip, and putting it in the sd card root folder.
But, in recovery mode, if i select SDCARD:update.zip option, it says :
E: can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0
E: Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Any solution to this?
Note: I was using kyrillos rom v4.1 oc before this, and I had used Madteam app2sd to partition my 16GB sd card, with 1GB app2sd space.
Would that be causing this problem?

You need CWM recovery to flash update.zip files .. DDJP2 has stock samsung recovery .. Flash any of the custom roms with cwm and you will be able to flash update.zip .. If you don't wasn't to flash a custom rim ask mumbozver for his cwm installer and run it for your phone...
thanks for the reply!
oh and one more thing, how do i get back the 1GB partition I made using Madteam app2sd while using kyrillos rom? or can it still be made usable in the stock rom?

It can be made usable...flash any fugumod 2.4 kernel...then use lestatious Data2Sd...that shuld do the trick...
i just flashed fugumod 2.4 beta3!
ran mount in terminal emulator (after su ofcourse), i see that all partitions (data,cache,system,efs...) are rfs file system..
what partitions do i need to convert to ext2 or ext4?
and how do i see and use my 1GB partition mentioned above?
thanks in advance!

Convert system and cache to ext2...and data to ext4...then use data2sd enabler of lestatious..and reenable data2sd
I converted the partitions data ext4 and system and cache to ext2!
But when i use EASS partition manager, i cannot see the swap and data2sd partitions at all.. It just shows a single FAT32 partition of 13.04 gigs!
And when i used data2sd enabler, and tried to reenable data2sd, it says path not found!

[Q] HD2 & App2SD

Hello everyone,
I've an issue and I am looking for your advise & support. I've bought HTC HD2 512 EU with the following NAND specification:
Android ver: 2.2.1
Baseband ver: 15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14
Kernel ver: 2.6.32.15-saint.J_Rev.005-g009fade-dirty [email protected] #8
Build no: Desire HD Rev.10.XU
Software no: 1.72.405.3
aMAGLDR V1.13
The Issue: I wanted to install App2SD to be able to install apps in SD Card.. I followed this thread => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=926015 & followed Darktremor instructions here.. However, When I entered the MAGLDR menu /AD Recovery I found no CWM recovery mode "no boot source".. So what should I do next as Darktremor approach assumed that there is a CWM recovery mode to be able to format, partition and flash the App2SD, while I haven't!.. What should I do to make it work?
Thank you,
unzip attached file.put the folder you get to your sd card.in mgldr menu: services-boot settings-ad sd dir-find the folder and choose it. now you'll go to mgldr menu automatically now take the second choice:ad sd. so you'll go to ad recovery.(by this method you have to do all these steps each time in order to go ad recovery.so it is recommended to flash a recovery using daf and usb flasher.but this will erase your installed android rom.) and in ad recovery menu backup your current rom.because darktremors method doesn't go well with som roms.and know that it leads 2 extra reboots after you flash it.
mutil, thanks for the reply. I did as you mentioned.. got into the CWM successfully but failed to partition the SD correctly. After it said=> "Done..! partition SD successfully!" I got the screen full of errors like=>
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Falid to find "cache" partition to mount at "/cache".
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't find misc
P.S: I choose partition size of 1024mb & swap of 256mb..
Update: I ignored those errors & installed the App2SD & rebooted but didn't notice any change! The available space on the internal storage still 201mb!.. SD card now reads 14gb, previously 15gb..
download a2sdgui from market. move dalvik cache to sd.this gives you some more space.i think a2sd will work for applications you install from now on.therefore i install it just after i installed a new rom.btw 256mb swap is high. you must know that it may harm your sd (but i also use 128mb swap in spite of its risk)

Done!..
Thank you mutil...
About the swap, do you suggest me to redo the whole process again and limit the swap to maybe 128mb?.. I remember that swap partition is always double the mem size..
What is the max recommended ext partition size for the App2SD? because on the CWM you can make the partition up to 2048mb..
no just for that, it doesn't worth to redo everything.next time when you change rom you arrange it.i dont have much knowledge but the swap is said to harm sd-card.but as my experience it also improves speed.
Ext
If u want to install apps on EXT partition don't use App2SD,or A2ext use Data2ext.
Similar to a2ext, where data/app were stored inside your ext partition of the SD card, data2ext stores the whole /data inside your ext partition.
That means your internal storage will barely be used, and because nowadays some SD cards runs faster than your internal memory.
Instructions:
*This is a CyannogenMod version! Not tested on DHD Roms!
1.Make a Ext3 Partition via CWR
2. Flash data2ext_for_CM via CWR (attached) (DON'T FLASH IT ON THE FIRST BOOT OF ANY ROM!)
3. Go to your terminal emulator/adb shell to type data2ext --enable
4. Reboot
5. Go check your Ext storage via Titanium Backup(Your internal storage [220 mb~] will not be increased you must check the ext space from the Overview page of your Titanium Backup [SD card(a2sd):....mb(...mb free)])!

[Q] selling my hd2, need to know how to remove my personal information

I am sellingmy hd2 and I want to remove all of my info (similar to a hard reset) but not remove the cm7 android 2.3.2 that is on there. Can someone give me some pointers? I heard all you do is reboot in recovery is this true?
if running WM6.5, the usual hard reset via the hardware buttons will work.
if running WP7, read the stickies in that sub-forum for any hints.
if using android, first determine if the build relies on the sd-ext partition. usually, this will be stated by the chef in the thread of the build. i believe nearly ALL CM7 builds do NOT rely on the sd-ext partition, but CAN use the sd-ext partition if one is found.
if using non-sd-ext build:
1. go into recovery
2. find the "factory reset" option and run it
3. done
if using sd-ext build:
1. go into recovery
2. go into "advanced" (or similar)
3. go into "mounts and storage" (or similar)
4. format/wipe all partitions except "/system", "/sd-ext", "/boot", and "/sdcard". you can format the "/sdcard" option as well if you don't care about the files in the FAT32 partition of the sd card.
the above instructions for android are admittedly a bit general, because i haven't tried them personally but should work theoretically. and i didn't actually go into recovery to see if i wrote the options' captions correctly...just did it from memory.
so perhaps someone can correct my post.

I am currently running CM7 Android 2.3.2. Did the mod so long ago I truly to do not know where to find the thread for it. I will try your first option regarding recovery and go from there.
Thanks

Can't install app - insufficient storage available

Notification: I have been asked by Droidriven to move my question from XDA Assist Forum to this Forum !!!
================================================================
I cannot install anymore applications. I got an error "Can't install app - insufficient storage available".
I lack place on my device, so I move app as much as I can to the External card using AParted and Link2SD.
I found out that every time I want to link to SD card with Link2SD I got a warning: "NOT MOUNTED - /data/sdext2 mount not found"
When Link2SD starts, it opens a window asking to select my SD card's second partition from the following list: ext2, ext3, ext4 (the others are irrelevant). Whatever I choose I get an Mount script error "Mount script cannot be created. Mount invalid argument".
I checked the Storage Info (using the Link2SD app), and found that all the "partitions" - like Internal, SDcard, External SD, System and Cache - have some data and the percentage of free place - except "SD Card 2nd Partition" that remains empty. There is even a label that says "NOT MOUNTED".
I searched my phone trying to find the "sdext2" to mount it (how do I do it?) - but I couldn't find it. This is an CATCH 22 situation  I cannot download and install app but I can continue to use my phone with a lot of app removed!
Is there a way to delete the /data/sdext2?
is there a way to mount the ext2?
How can I repair it?
Somebody with some help?! Please, don't recommend me to use the frightened FACTORY RESET - I had enough of this solution!
thanks, Roby

Do you have root explorer set and mount R/W set correctly?

I use Root Explorer. I found "sdext2" ! It is under "root" as follows: "/data/sdext2". Its permissions are "rwxrwx--x". I unchecked the last "x" (it shows on the column of Other Execute) but it didn't saved! Why?
Are you sure you followed instructions to setup Link2SD correctly?

I don't remember I believe so. I bought the Link2SD Plus more than one year ago.

So is this a stock rom we're talking about?

YES!... and rooted!~!!
I cannot install anymore applications in my GT-i9505
My GT-i9505 fell down and seems something went wrong! I cannot install anymore applications. I got an error "Can't install app - insufficient storage available".

I cannot link or remove system app. System app that have the option to "Link to SD Card" or to "Remove Link", they encountered with a warning: "NOT MOUNTED - /data/sdext2 mount not found" Moving user applications from SD Card to Phone is no problem at all.
I checked the Storage Info (using the Link2SD app), and found that all the "partitions" - like Internal, SDcard, External SD, System and Cache - have some data - except "SD Card 2nd Partition" that remains empty. There is even a label that says "NOT MOUNTED".

What could happen if I delete Link2SD and Link2SD Plus, I restart the phone and install Link2SD again?
Is there a way to repair it? XDA Senior members, you are the geeks here, aren't you? Please, I ran out of ideas!
I don't want to FACTORY RESET my phone - I had enough of this solution!
I am afraid that all my data will be wiped off!
thanks, Roby[/QUOTE]
Flash a custom recovery, backup your data, do a factory reset.
Or use Titanium Backup to backup your apps and do a factory reset or flash another rom.
