DooMLoRD Root - Nexus S General

This method successfully rooted my Nexus S in under a minute and theres an unroot too.
Gx

Yes. Also worked on my NS4G

Nice, worked great on my Nexus S.

Oh Doomlord, I remember him back from my Xperia X10 days. Why is he still on that old toy, Nexus S was the way to go.

Successfully root i9003 on XXKPQ (2.3.6)
Unsuccessful on i9003 on XXKPU (2.3.6)

Does it work on Galaxy mini 2 (S6500D)?

we all love you ... thanks a lot

I'm using an arc S =D nice to meet you, mine running on stock ICS 4.0.3.
Yo, i have arc s with stock 4.0.4
Sent from my LT18i using XDA
most of you guys upgrade to 4.0.4? i stay on 4.0.3 as i don't think it has that notify bug and i tweak it well to be as smooth as possible =p

Dude 4.0.4 is so much smoother than 4.0.3! In fact 4.0.3 was the biggest Sony mistake! Lol
ArcS user on stock 4.0.4! Soon to be on unlocked bootloader!

Yeah alot of user mention it's a lot smoother, maybe gonna upgrade on sony next update but i still don't get which part of 4.0.4 is making the system smoother? the lib, kernel? or?
Not so happy Arc S user. Stock 4.0.4, locked bootloader, still not rooted...

The whole thing is smoother. It has a new baseband but I'm not the best person to go technical!

I don't wanna flash my phone now when I set up everything. When some easy rootkit shows up (like one for 4.0.3), I will then root my device...

you can flash firmwares without wiping the DATA
Yep i'm using the new baseband as well =P
I tried flashing as soon as I got the update but I wasn't able to flash, I got some errors I founded .42 GB firmware and I'll probably downgrade because WiFi not working bothers me a lot
Fail
I got my Arc S in the Beginning of May and was so excited about official ICS WOOOOOHOOOOO...
First step was the Update---still excited
Then I woke up, ICS Update was one big fail for me.
Let me explain :
I don´t play many games, but I still have 2 favourites : Defender II and Triple Town
Defender II gives me big lags after short time of playing and Triple Town doesnt even run at all (Touchactions are not recognized)
Of course some of you might say, that´s not a big deal but to me, it is..
Also, even more important, Videorecording in HD is still laggy sometimes and serious, nothing gets me more angry than a Scene I wanted to keep but got laggy....
So I unlocked Bootloader and flashed 2.3.4. I found somewhere here, removed all crapapps after rooting and using Doomkernel V22, Phone runs perfect, even underclocked to 1GHz
The Devs here are doing good jobs (really good) but still I havn´t found any ROM that made me as happy as the Gingerbread...
I really hope there will be a real good ICS one day..
I have an Arc S on custom ROM Arc AOKP build 39.
Arc S on CM9 FXP 125.
I have had my Arc S since April, I purchased it as I kenw it would be upgraded to ICS. When the official ICS came out I was not impressed it was very slow, so I rooted my phone and removed all the bloatware and was pretty happy. After a few weeks I couldn't help but unlock the bootloader and I am now running on ArcKnight RC3 Kernal and JJ's Hybrid ROM 3.1 i'm sure I will keep changing as I like seeing how new Kernals and Roms work.
I have Arc S and still in GingerBread and waiting for next sony update.
Reason: no other beats the GingerBread's smoothness.
Arc S on BB72 - Stock ICS 4.04 w/ CWM - Arconium 4
Xperia Arc S ........still on Gingerbread.
Tried all the roms but Gb is still the best off them
Oh... As i can see, theres kinda few users of arc s here, and i cant see anyone posting that he is using a stock based custom rom.

did you come from a clean wipe ?
if you want to revert back to GB its as easy as 1,2,3
1, Download GB firmware
2, Load all files into ODIN
3, Connect phone in DL mode and hit start
Obviously you haven't truly experienced ice cream sandwich for the note until you have used the rom in the following link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662802 give it a try and I guarantee your view will change. Galaxy Note = phone + tablet(best of both worlds)
Paranoid Android rom = phone ui + tablet ui(best of both worlds)
Having bought a German Note I initially upgraded to stock LPY for ICS. It was dreadful. Twice I returned to Gingerbread for safety and stupidly gave LPY another chance after a short while. Each time it never failed to be crap. It didn't matter whether or not I wiped stuff - it was just rubbish.
I did try an AOKP ROm for a bit, but that had too many problems for my tastes so a few days ago I bit the bullet and went for the stock LQ2 ROM for the UK (which is where I live) and quite simply I have not had the problems which seemed to plague LPY. So, I'm on a stock ICS ROM, rooted, and quite happy with performance and battery life. Mind you, time will tell if it stays that way, but so far so good.

Touchwiz is the problem, Samsung know what they're doing with hardware but software wise they're atrocious lol. Anyone not enjoying stock samsung should try a cm9 or aokp rom. I'm on the newest stunner as of right now and its perfect.

[Q] Should I install 4.1.2 Jellybean ?

Hey guys, its been 2 days since i finally bought my Nexus 7 and I was wondering whether I should install the 4.1.2 update ? I am loving the Nexus 7 and I don't want any complications to arise for this update. I know this question has been answered a lot of time...so I truly apologize for this thread.
Another thing...can someone direct me to the thread where it rooting my Nexus 7 is the easiest. Would gladly appreciate all the help. Thanks
You should absolutely fill your tablet with jelly beans... As far as easy rooting, Wugfresh's nexus root tool kit is a breeze though many steer away from tool kits and recommend ADB...

Updating to 4.1.2 is OK, but I would skip 4.2.1 4.1.2 and 4.1.1 are much smoother than 4.2 and 4.2.1
As far as rooting is concerned, this is really great method, just rooted and everything worked fine:

[Q] Noob Issues

Hi all, well I know I have made fatal errors both in judgement and procedure but here goes (anxiously) anyway.
So Nexus 4 (8Gb) unlocked and flashed. Was using PAC MAN ROM nicely backuped etc until last night. I decided to flash paranoid android, which has worked but....I now have no storage left and can't install gapps or anything come to that. I am seriously stuck, I have read posts all over the interweb and have factory reset, deleted cache and dalvik, and no change no space!
So I decided to try and delete stuff manually, big mistake, its made no difference and I now have now ROM Manager or backups. Not so stressed about backups as everything is safe in google, I just cant get to any of it. My lovely new Nexus is an expensive telephone box rather than the toy I had been enjoying.
Just out of interest I did flash back to pac man and now have the disk issue there too (where I didn't before).
Is there a certain ROM that might help or something techy that as a Noob I have no knowledge of? Out of interest I think I have learnt my first valuable lesson related to this business of unlocking. Ironically regardless of all the advice out there, maybe it like be told by your parents not to touch the hot stove, you only realiase they were right after you have done it!!!
Any help would be appreciated, many thanks.
Flashing back to stock should get rid of all issues.

Guess I am just curious to how this differs from flashing new rom with all the clearing of cache/factory reset etc? Is it something about the rom rather than anything else? I.E. Is it smaller in size?
As I have said previously worried that even going back to original stock rom will leave something undeleted or used on the phone, resulting in the same probs?
Download wug's nexus root toolkit, use the option to completely reflash stock.

Thanks for the peops who replied and offered help. Tried Wug's but I am a mac man. Finally found this link
(Sorry as Noob not allowed to post link)
Worked a treat and now my nexus is back to its best, so Im off to install TB and CWM and undertake some serious backing up
To be honest made me a little anxious about flashing now, going to spend some time reading properly about how to do this and be able to back appropriately. Lessons learnt and all that.
Thanks again.
