It is an excellent guess. CM team will not make a SDK port. Source: http://goo.gl/OgWcA and http://goo.gl/SScoQ
Source for Gingerbread was... December 17 I think. Internal testing and such, alphas and nightlies, and it was on ROM Manager January 17. So a stable enough release to be made public in that manner was one month. Alphas and such before that. Approximately one week for a booting version with touchscreen.
Edit: source of ICS should be released soon after the release of Galaxy Nexus. Source: WIKIPEDIA

Havent you read there help on CM7? DONT ASK!
It will come out when it comes out.

Tomorrow and if not just look at this post again

Anybody else think that Gingerbread is going to look like Google TV UI-wise? Speaking of which... maybe I should make a Google TV-like theme for CM6.1...

via CyanogenMod definitely. If you're expecting an official release by HTC I wouldn't hold your breath as we have yet to get the 2.3.3 sense kernel source.
more "ice cream sandwich" spotlight!!!
ICE CREAM
Just read the interview w/Andy Rubin. They said they'd open source ICS "a couple weeks" after the Galaxy Nexus's release =)
HTC has said they are looking at ICS and will determine what they will do, because most of the features that make sense great has now been added to ICS. Could be they don't update any of their old phones, and they come up with something totally new for all of their new phones going forward. If they would put sense as it is now, they would cover up a lot of the new great features of ICS. Just a thought.

I can't find anything regarding a version of CM8. I also can't find any CM versions of honeycomb. I have found CM7 with some honeycomb elements, however. Did Google ever release Honeycomb source into AOSP? That is the only place CM goes to build their roms.

Thanks for the link. I didn't know CM was going to skip a number, since the HC source was never released.
Edit: The link says "don't be surprised if they skip a number..."
Eh, weak wording. Try this:

"We’ll be following up with a few minor releases and soon it will be time to start work on CM9!"
Is it possible to pull the wallpaper out of the SDK and post it to play with?

When are we going to get ICS?

Anyone wanna place bets on whether Samsung is going to support our phone any further?

I'm going with k0 on this one.
If the kernel doesn't require any updated version, then couldn't we be able to port ICS?
Devs are going to Frankenstein monster the sumbitch together with source from other phones! But that's just my guess

Lol.. I was wondering when we are going to see this thread.
I don't need ICS. By next year, we all are going to be upgrade eligible.
By then ICS will be more polished.
As always, Google tends to dish out half-baked stuff. I expect lots of updates for ICS to settle.
Could we get CM8, whe that becomes available, now that we have GB source, and don't have to worry about other sources cming out?

If that's the case, then I'm almost positive we could get a port of ICS. I don't really care if it's official.
Then again, it's hard to be optimistic in the Epic 4G world.
Google has released ICS SDK.
Google has released ICS SDK. What's up with sum custom ROMs?
http://www.androidcentral.com/ice-cream-sandwich-sdk-now-available
SDK is not source. That's for building apps. It's useless to us.

It's actually not all that useless. SDK Builds, GApps, and some Kernel. Wouldn't that be enough?

There's no kernel or any rom for that matter that is used for ICS though.

[Q] cm9 out before january? evo 4g

has anyone heard any chatter about cm9 or any other android 4.0 roms anywhere?
First rule for any CM roms, dont ask for an ETA. It will be out when its ready to be released.
2months roughly according to what i read on a retweet in the ics source thread

CM8 was reserved for Honeycomb, but since they didn't release HC source code until ICS they skipped it.

Well, IMHO vendor preview > community stuff.

Nobody needs to be "allowed" to get ICS. The source is there, anyone can do it.
It's all good.
Its a preview but we should have ICS by early next month if they are already testing within Google.

Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S(our phone! ) are the only two phones getting a version of ICS optimized BY the Google Team.
Huawei take the source from AOSP and fit it to their mediocre phone.
It's an easy choice..
Who knows?
