Hello,
I have a problem with the stock htc email client of my DZ: when I receive a mail with a attachment I can read the body of the message. When I push the botton for see the attachment and then I "use" the file (in the specific case a pdf) it ask me which app use for it. Then, when I go back to the mail, the text of the message is desappeared, it has only the sign (and the file).
I am not expert with the system and android, maybe I do something wrong or maybe is a bug. Anyone has the same problem? Any ideas?
Thank you all in advance.
Anjin

Anyone can help me? Am I the only one with that?
I am not try clear about your question? Are you saying that when you c heck the attachment and return to your email all the text is gone from your email?

Thank you for the answer. Yes, it's what happen. Maybe I do something wrong. In the list window I click on the message, there I can read the text and there is a part above with the attchments file and a arrow. If I click on arrow I have the list of files. If I open one file and then go back to mail program the body of the mail is without text. I hope to explain myself, sorry for the bad english.

Why don't you try a different mail client? K9 is an excellent choice.

I'm going to try it later today at work. It's really a no solution for htc email client problem but it could be a good solution for me. Thank you.

For those interested in original client available in "pure" Android 2.1 - here it is!
For me it's much more better than the HTC's one.
PS. God give us root to get rid of all that crappy HTC bloatware
What are the advantages of the original email app over HTC's version?
I like its look and feel, htc's one is too glossy. The same applies to music app.
Just try it yourself,it can be installed in parallel with htc one.

Is there anyway to get the app to delete the original emails off the server?
THANKS!!! it is awsome! Finnaly my emailsending works accross IMAP and TLS. With built in HTC email client it not works.
Np
As for deleting emails - don't know if you're talking about pop or imap. In imap you have to delete mail from trash to get rid of them.
Didn't tested this app with pop3, so don't know if tere is an option to "delete from server after download". But I think that there could be no such option to prevent user from mistakes.
But .... it's source is available via source.android.com... and it can be tuned, or feature can be requested.
Thanks, sorted my mail sending across SSL.
The stock HTC mail app is eating up the memory. After 3 days, I had 30 MB of mail data, and erasing all Accounts did not helped. The 30 MB was still there, so I had to make a Factory Reset. Thanks for this app!!
Thanks for this.
Does this app allow searching of emails, in particular Exchange?
I noticed, or haven't found, the search feature for the HTC Mail app :/
This works great on Legend, nice to see a bit of stock Eclair.

I would love to have this feature! I understand WinMob does this on exchange 2007...
I think I overlooked the obvious, pressing the search button!
Didn't give me results for my search, going to look into the number of emails the phone has access to, either copied to phone or on the server. I suspect the string I searched for was too far in the past.
[edit] Shame, only searches sender names and subject line :/
So, i installed this on my incredible and configured it to work with my office exchange account... set it up as push, and it never updated... went into the sync settings and it was in there, but was showing that it wasn't set to auto sync and i couldn't get it to sync from there.. originally when i first set it up, it was able to connect and download my past emails, but nothing after that.. I know i'm in the desire section of the site, so it may just be that ti's not gunna work on my Incredible right now, but i was wondering if root is required to use this?

don't know if i understood you correctly but i can search my exchange 2007 mail from my phone...
just open htc mail app and than press the hardware search button...type what you want to search and that's it...
thanks alot, this is so much better than sense's version, actually so much stock android 2.2 stuff is better than sense i'm thinking of rooting for 2.2
This force closes when I have an email with an attachment in my inbox, really annoying.
Does it require root?
Does this application require root access or can I install it even if the phone is unrooted? Another question -- Does this get me the combined inbox?
Does anyone know of an app I can get to be able to copy and paste data from my Exchange emails?

I think you can't I have been looking for this for a while already...
The Tab has a very disappointing implementation of Exchange (You can't see the birthday of your exchange contacts. You can't either modify your exchange appointments in the calendar, etc...)
It's a toy, not a professional device
i have never used exchange on the tab but what might help is pressing replay and then copy from the replay quote... hope it helps
Hi, can I search the Global Directory of my company or Lookup a contact information from the original mail for exchange client without the need of TouchDown help?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
When creating a new Email for your Exchange account, you can click in Online button next to the Search field after you enter a few characters. This searches in the global address book. After you've found someone, select email address in the contact information.
I haven't found out yet how to browse the global address book and add contacts from there to your local phone. Even WM could do this...
I use the following app: https://market.android.com/details?id=net.vivekiyer.GAL
H.
Just start typing the name. Automatically searches the directory using the server! B-)

Now this is the most useful trick! I got it thank you! Though it is strange to work only from the new email window while it doesn't from inside the normal contacts manager! The function exists, but not very well utilized! Thank you again

Working perfectly on mine. I need to type 3 letters and after that the online button appears, then I just select the organization and press search and voila!

Yes I managed to make this but only from inside a New Mail Compose Window. Not from the normal contacts management application.

Hi
Is there a way to change the inbox color in froyo. I like iphone style inbox which is white bavkground and black font color. I'm on 2.2 and dont want to unlock bootloader
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Inbox? For text messages? For email? Download a new app with a UI you like better. Handcent is very customizable (for text). Gmail is white background with black text..
Thanks for replying. In fact I'm more interested in the email background. I dont want to spend money on email app as they are expensive and also dont have universal inbox feature or exchange calendar sync. I like the inbox background in iphone and dont want to switch back to iphone just for this reason. Hope someone on this forum will be able to help!
Yeah one more point i need email for corporate exchange so gmail doesnt help. Although, I'm looking for similar type of format.

If you're unwilling to unlock and you're unwilling to pay a small fee for an app, I really don't think there is anything else you can do. Perhaps there MIGHT be some way to do it via root, but I'm almost certain that your phone needs to be deodexed in order to edit.
