Your thoughts on Yahoo Mail app

My experience was that it destroyed battery life. I can't check my yahoo mail with the regular mail app. It always says the email is "still on the server" when I click on it. What are you guys using to check yahoo mail?
I just use the stock email app that comes with the phone. Since rooting I have to set it up manually but I haven't had any issues with it.

My girlfriend just had this problem with her Evo. She took it into Sprint and apparently the mail app was trying to connect to the wrong server. It only took a few minutes for the Rep to set it right and she was on her way. This was the stock app by the way. Not the Yahoo app off of the market.
I use the stock HTC email program. When it says email is still on the server, try going into settings and increasing the mail size limit.

Have you tried K9 Mail?

3rd party email problem

Hey everyon, so through my email app I hve my hotmail account syncing up to it. The problem I have is that when I receive an email and delete it from my phone, it does not delete it from my email account. I only check my email by computer every couple of days so its a PITA to delete a couple hundred emails when I do get on a computer. Does anyone else experience this and if so is there a work around or a free app that will sync my email and delete them from the server as well as my phone

Probably because I've had the email account for years before I had the phone, hell i'vehad th account before there was gmail. I understand that it is a google phone and that Gmail works better with thr phone but With over 200 email contacts I can't just drop my hotmail account.

First off, I don't have experience with your senarion.
That said, have you checked any settings on the phones email app nd hotmail for this problem? Also, do the emails that don't get deleted appear read? Or they unread?

If you go into the email app, then 'Settings->Incoming server settings->Delete email from server', you can change it from 'Never' to 'When I delete from Inbox', although I have had mixed results with this actually working on my Hotmail account. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt.

[Q] Which better? Stock or Gmail app?

For those who have tried both: Which app is better, the stock email, or the Gmail app? All I care about is using it FOR Gmail. I've been using the Gmail app, but wondering if I'm missing out on some features.
It's the same thing. Downloading gmail from the market just updates your stock app. You can tell by going to uninstall it in the market; it will say "uninstall updates" which means you lose the updates but not the apk itself.
The email app is good got a 2nd email address. Use gmail for gmail, it's much better.

Can I assume you are paying the $20/yr for Yahoo's "Plus" service? If not, then that's probably your problem. Can't use POP with a free Yahoo account.
Yahoo has their own email app for android.

Push email for Hotmail (Plus Account)

Hi,
I remember when I had a Galaxy SII I was able to get the Push email, because it had some kind of "Plus account" or "Premium account" that allowed you to get Push email for hotmail and yahoo. I could verify this as it had the "get email as it comes in" option.
On the Note, I can only get it to check email and pre-dtermined intervals like 30 minutes, 1 hour.
Isn't there an auto push option/Plus account with the note?
Use m.hotmail.com for the Exchange server, and you should've able to push.

Official Hotmail application, with push mail support
https://market.android.com/details?...lt#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5ob3RtYWlsLlo3Il0.
With your S2 , you may have used social hub, which was samsung coloboration with SEVEN mail, which was supporting hotmail, if you want same like that, you can find seven mail application. i was early using that for my yahoo in nokia.
Edit : link for seven
I just used the app hotmail

Where did you get that APK? It seems the app isn't mention on the Seven site or can't find it on the Android market.
Thanks everyone, the Hotmail app seems to works really great and is true Push email.

I was using earlier for yahoo. and was in my collection. yes it was removed from market quite long ago.
It is somehow doing a lot of wakelocks on GNote. Drain quite some battery. I have uninstalled it and use Microsoft Exchange setting pointing to m.hotmail.com as the server.

I am using the email client that came with the note, if you configure your email using imap, or lucky enough to have exchange then push will work, if you do pop3 then push won't work. I bought Kaiten which is the paid version of K9 pop3 is still timed and not pushed.

Yes the native client supports servers that will do push (ie exchange).
Incidentally the mail client "Touchdown" ****s all over the native client (yes is does cost approx $20, I reckon its worth it.)

I always thought Gmail was push

it is.
Push on the native email client works but has this flaw: it will disable push when it is unable to connect to server. You need to manually load the app again to re-enable push.
This disabling might happen when travelling in train when you loose network momentarily, or when leaving one WLAN and connecting with another after a few minutes.

Ah...i use to wonder why sometime push is working and sometime not...i thought somewhere related to data connection but couldn't get the exact pattern. Thanks, This will surely help.
Any idea why I'm not able to see embedded images on native email client with exchange setup? It's showing only as attached files and image itself on email has little blue question mark

Ok thanks guys. Can you post me the steps to set up and hotmail account with push? I remember that i had my hotmail with push on SGS somehow. I just can't find the tutorial anymore.
I think you need to set the hotmail server to m.hotmail.com to get push to work.
