Devs and roms...were are they?

This is a great phone IHO..its the best android phone in the market right now....but why is that it seems like no one either has,or devs are not to intrested in showing support for this phone...excluding KMOBS...come on devs weres the love id be willing to donate for cyan to get this phone...anyone else..because right now this forum is pretty sad compared to the G2.

I used to have a g2 and I gave it up for the mytouch. I'm seriously considering getting my g2 back

The phone is only 12 days old guys. Have some patience.
I'm sure someone in the CM team will get their hands on a MT4G soon. If not, then I'm sure another capable dev will figure out how to port CM6 over to our phone.
Honestly, I'd be down to donate $5 to the CM team along with the OP. We'd just have to hope 88 other MT4G owners will do the same.

CM6 for the MT4G is already built and bugs are being worked out. (Wifi, Camera, & BT)
Once those things are fixed we should be seeing a RC.

CM is working on a rom...the wiki page has a link for the glacier, there is just nothing on it yet...give him time...

You would be a fool to go back to the wobbly hinge G2 just because they have a ROM. This is a much superior device and they will come. Just be patient.

Some of you guys are being stupidly impatient. You can't expect a bunch of ROM's for a phone that achieved a permanent root just a few days ago.
Development is going fairly quickly anyway. Kmobs of CM already has a working build for the MT4G. That's pretty damn good and since in many ways the G2 is similar to the MT4G, things should go even faster.
Look at the G2 development forum, they've already got the G2 ROM ported to the MT4G. Another example would be VISIONary. It worked for the MT4G before it was even meant to.
Either way, MT4G users have no room to complain. The phone I came from, the Vibrant. It still doesn't have CM or a stock Android 2.2. Even the ROM's it has now took at least a month to perfect.

I hope I feel the same about my MyTouch when it gets here Wed (if UPS doesn't reschedule, like they always do). Right now, the Android that all other phones are compared to is the Evo (I have one). But in my town, which has 3 sprint towers... 2 of them have been down for 4 months and I finally gave up and switched to TMO. I hate giving up my Evo (rooted, custom ROm, custom Kernel)... there is so much support for it from software to accessories (I have the 3500 mah battery from Seidio). I'm going to miss all the goodies for the Evo while waiting for all the support to catch up to the MT4G (which it might and might not... we never know how much an individual phone will be supported). I am so surprised how the G2 got supported. Sliding keyboard phones don't usually get that much support because they are so flimsy. Let's hope this MT4G has as much appeal to the developers as it did to us! If I don't like it, I'll have the option of going to ATT sometime in Dec when they finish switching over from Alltel.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, it's Cyanogen's new phone, therefore it gets massive CM lovin'. kmobs has the Glacier though, it won't be left out in the cold.

+1 on people being impatient. These guys are working their butts off essentially for free since most people are too cheap to donate. Root ur device, play around, install launcher pro an quit ur *****in'. ROMs will come in due time.

This is key, We need to show the developers some love here $$$$, Devs will work on devices that produce the highest returns=$$$$, There are so many EVO owners that producing a quality rom will have excellent returns=$$$$, The upside is with the hardware of our devices CM has the potential of creating thier greatest Rom to date. Lets be patient and get a bug free release, Instead of a premature release full with bugs.

I will donate $20 for the first ROM that takes full advantage of the MT4G capabilities.

From HEROC to EVO SHIFT

This has been a great experience for me and my HEROC. Thanks to all the DEVS that supported this phone to the end.
I have recently upgraded my HEROC to a EVO SHIFT. Hopefully, I will see some of you over the Evo Shift Forums and we could all start over.
Looking forward to rooting, roming, and to the development of this new phone. I'll check back once in a while to see what kind of progreess the Heroc is getting.

I also came from a hero. This phone, imho, was a great upgrade. The physical keyboard is a super bonus to what the phone can do. It is way faster than the hero and can perform just as well as the Evo. Of course that is debatable. For me, I do like the smaller screen compare to the evo/epic. The camera is decent for a 5mp with flash. Being a second gen snapdragon, can't wait for the new development to start.

edit: Nevermind I see your using an Epic. Maybe one of these days you can make some themes etc. for the Shift. I like the green/white cirlce battery mod you made me for the Hero.

Does the Optimus S even have its own forum on here yet? If so I can't seem to find it. I know there's a couple for it located on Android Central and Android Forums. Here on xda, I do see a little bit of Optimus S stuff in the 'Optimus One P500' forum -- is that it for now? Thanks, Forgive me if I'm missing something obvious. Also sorry for the thread hijack, I won't mention this again here on the Evo Shift forum.

Well, this Heroc to Evo Shift move may not be a done deal for me now that Sprint's got something planned for the 7th of Feb. What about you guys...?

I'm loving this phone. I came from heroc and I'm glad to know sense can be good... if your phone is fast enough to run it haha.

No doubt there, Sense seems fine on this phone compared to my Hero. I came from the Hero, and upgraded my wife's Moment to the Shift also. My wife said something funny about that last night, "They called it the Moment because it only works for a moment." EPIC!! lol

I'm enjoying it, came from a Heroc. Sense is really ruining the experience for me though, even with ADW it just isn't as good as stock or CM6/7. I'm,hoping it gets root soon or its back to the hero.

Feb 7th? As far as I know there aren't any new phones in production other than the blackberry and the HTC Windows phone.

lol no. i was in dover nh when i got it. i love the phone just my Flash is broken.

Welcome. At the time, I really enjoyed my HTC Hero. I previously had an HTC Touch with a winblows OS, so android was a wow moment for me.
There's alot of great devs and support for the EVO. It think it what sets this phone apart from any other. Good luck and enjoy (when you get your flash fixed).

thank you! i use to run windows mobile. i had the HTC mogul then HTC touch, HTC touch pro. then i went to WebOS on palm pre. then the first android i touched was HTC hero and LOVED it. im loving the evo but i hate that the LED flash is broken

Damn, people are still buying EVOs? The EVO is going to start looking like a Hero in just a couple of weeks.

im a Sense freak. i am gonna go with myn's warm rls5 with slayer69 cyan dragon theme.
i was thinking if i tried to flash it to see if i liked it and to see if it would fix my LED flash problem. but idk how to UNROOT the evo like i did with the hero. cause idk where to get the RUU for the evo. its on there main site for the hero but not the evo. just tells me how to hard reset by holding the volume down and power on and clean drive.

If you want instructions on how to unroot the EVO this thread on this site talks about it and has links to instructions on what you need to do.

I've had an EVO since launch day but I just bought my dad one over the week. He's upgrading from the RUMOR so it's a big step up for him. Radioshack had a promo over the weekend. Turn in your old phone and credit a $50 dollar credit for either a new EVO or EVO shift. So total it was only $150 plus tax out the door.

Also new to the EVO forums, got it today, cant wait to get home an root-root-root.
And flush my Hero into a drawer for emergencies.

I bought an Evo almost entirely because of our dev community.
Currently running MikFroyo 4.5 with Slayer's Dragon Theme (it is badASS) but I've run quite a few others. Huge CM fan (it's been on all my rooted phones at some point.
Great devs, great phone, adequate service. Yeah, I love my Evo
Plus, we have a Honeycomb rom being cooked up by AndroidBall. Excited about that as well

lucky you. i cant run the slayer69 dragon theme. its a SICK SICK theme toon. it just keeps crashing on me. but

Looks interesting will look and see where it goes in the future I agree tho HTC n Sprint are pretty good downfall of HTC is their lack of the next big phone on sprint atm EVO 3d was a little of a flop nice phone could have been better. Will have to see how they do with ics and getting it out.

Yeah HTC has some cool devices coming out, but Sprint is missing out. They need to give Sprint a Beats phone, hopefully with the Bliss ROM on it I love that UI and the new Rosie has to be my all time favorite.
I think they will work magic with ICS, Sense overlay would be nice especially with what I have been seeing of 3.5!

Looks kind of cool I read just about anything that has anything to do with android so I follow and see where it goes.

lots of people seem to have mixed results with beats and with ICS i think the sense overlay while it looks nice ICS looks good its the actual first stock android look that is nice.It would be nice if they cut back sense or got rid of their launcher anyways. the main reason companys created overlays was due to the lack of smoothness android didnt have. google really outdid their self with ICS imo its what 2.3 and 3.0 should have been.

I think it'd be good, because I flashed it for my friend on their thunderbolts, and I was actually fairly impressed. I think putting some light back on them would be good cuz for the evo, when it first got rooted, they were the place to be, but now with more developers, more people are spread out, but they're great roms for aosp.
I actually just flashed it about 2 hours ago. I'm impressed with it; has the correct pngs, flows nicely, even without a reboot.

Nice! How exciting! I am working on a review of the Runny bliss Hybrid this week and then I will do OMFGB next week.
I am looking to do a ROM a week that way I can use it the whole week and give a more well rounded opinion. I am currently doing everything as is, with no kernel or other tweaks just the ROM as it comes. I will flash Gapps of course and my normal apps...
I am glad to have caught your attention and hope to bring some more users to your fabulous ROM, which I have been know to use from time to time. Are you running the latest nightly or the stable?

Oh no...i'm not teh haxxorxz , who did them rom. I did my own once, but that was private and a while ago. xp. Though he does make reat roms.
But doing the rom as is, no mods is the bets, because you can accurately reflect battery life, speed, ect.

Oh man my mistake... Got a little excited. Haha, glad to be building a fan base though

Yea they would be, which is why a lot of people using them partition their sd cards, to save some internal space, but they can be used un-partitioned.

They have the ROM's partitioned so its all in the "ROM memory" there its actually internal memory free.
I ran it for a whole week with no mods at all and it was smooth very rare lag and no crashes. Although I only use about 40 apps, there its plenty of memory, but moving cache to sd and apps to sd helps.

Is HTC EVO 4G Development Dead?

Hell no its not dead,i scour all the phone sections looking for new ideas for roms and seeing what everyone else has going on and as old as this phone is,i believe the development for the OG is straight out blowing other development away,these sections are dead compared to the OG EVo,keep up the great work guys,i'm sure theres alot of peeps that very well appreciate all the great roms for the EVo.

Damn straight. I'm glad to be a part of the OG Evo community! Seems like we had at least 3 new Roms pumped out this week alone! Not to mention the countless updates. This community is far from dead.

More like froyo sense. Of I remember correctly, we didn't even get full gb. Or get updated versions of sense. But we have sense 1.0-4.0 and all android versions. All thanks to the awesome develop we have. Doubt any phone has that.

Glads you guys are still developing for the Evo 4g. Love this phone and I don't want to switch to another. Keep up the good work.

I love the support for this device but I agree with Scott. It'd be wonderful if people started making the switch to the Evo LTE, the lack of support there is discouraging. Jellybean for the OG but no Jellybean for the LTE, something isn't right with that.

I agree this is the most versatile phone on the market,it can withstand any flashing abuse we give it.

There are so many Roms out there for our OG EVO. I am currently running Team D.I.R.T V7.77 Deluxe Edition. A great Rom!!

thats why i haven't made the switch to evo lte. cause the og is still at top of its game.

I think most developers are moving to the Galaxy S3. Freeza's there; Myn is gonna bring his Warm ROMs over; clark44 is there; fergie; and that's just a couple of the devs for the Sprint version. Cyanogen himself has both an AT&T and T-Mobile S3. All versions have builds of CM10, which I'm using right now. There are already a ton of TouchWiz ROMs, and at least two devs ready to port MIUI (just for the Sprint version; other variants already have MIUI).
I honestly thought that once you got S-Off on the Evo LTE (lazypanda, not htcdev), development would accelerate a ton. The lazypanda S-Off almost got me to grab an Evo instead of the Galaxy. I hope development picks up a bit for you guys.
