Miui alternatives? - Fascinate General

I'm tired of this month old buggy rom. I stuck by it for a few months but the repeated fcs, weird exits and horrendous battery life makes me want to jump ship. I looked at the development forum but didn't really find a simple new good room I can flash. Can u guys recommend?

I was running MIUI 1.9.16 and having the same problems you report. I stayed with a MTD based ROM and switched to TSM PoolParty and haven't looked back since. PoolParty is easily the best the ROM I've used. The ROM is very stable, GPS locks super quick, and no issues with MMS.
TSM PoolParty in conjunction with GO Launcher EX is perfect for my uses. GO Launcher EX allows custom folders and there are a lot of themes on the market. I'm using a ICS theme for a main theme, another for icons and a third theme for the dock bar.

I have been using [ROM]ACS ICS v6 (Now with moar gps! (and a theme)) [eh17]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295515
I have also been using the above ROM with the following kernel
[KERNEL][ROOT][GB][EH17] nubernel-2.6.35_v0.0.0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1326679
Before you apply the following theme, that installs lockscreenmods amongst other really cool items (reboot, recovery, etc), download the .zip to your machine and open the .zip and remove the /system/apps/phone.apk from it before flashing to your phone:
[THEME][EH17][ACS] ░▒▓█4.0 ICS█▓▒░ [lockmod]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320894
With everything above, I have a stable GB ROM with no reboots and no FC on phone calls ending. Battery life has been slightly better than SFR 1.2 and I use this as my daily driver with 0 issues (other than some lock screens showing erroneous battery details, but if that's the only thing so far then so be it.

Ha ha. Plus one on this combo. I didn't use the theme though I might try now with the step to remove phone from the zip. I've been using Ripple Lock and loving it with the theme and it works like a charm.
Kinda insulting that samsung just can't get it right but the developers here can. So far I been testing the hell out this rom. Not one single problem yet. Even the boot up time is faster

+2. I've been using the same setup since V6 was released (sans 6 lock mod) and no reboots, no FC's, and the keyboard skip is gone!
One weird issue I've been having lately- (might not be ROM related)- SMS messages are not coming through. Or I'll get replies to SMS' I've sent like 3 days later. Probably more Sprint than anything else....

I'm on v6 with nubernel v0.0.1 and honeycomb fusion theme

I've been thinking about taking this for a drive; I used bamboozle EF02 and it was pretty nice, I went back to EC05 because of the reboots using gb leaks (tried EE03,EF02, EG22, EH06 and EH17) and well my battery life with this ec05 rom is nuts.
I really like marcusant's stuff. He is young but talented.
I'm really digging the whole blue theme. Still so far no random reboots. A few days before flashing this rom I would get about 50 reboots a day. Really frustrating now my phone seem to be running like a new right out the box phone
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
I also installed this and wow, it feels like I just got a new phone.
I also dig the blue and dark theme. This stockish ICS theme is really what I was looking for.
So far the phone is snappy and GPS works, and looks so bad ass.
On the side note, I can't go back to stock EC05. I went back to froyo to get stable GPS but the UI was laggy compared to gingerbread. The froyo for Epic is so not optimized I had to go back to leaked gingerbread.

so MANY miui

omg what is this?? I go to vibrant dev section and all i see are like 800 roms of miui...
Can someone explain how they differ? I understand some do, such as neobuddy's new rom because of the massive tweaks and mods, but the others? Theres a miui stock, miui.us, miui 360 ... what is this?!?!?
There's only 3? Lol
The Stock MIUI is like stock CM7,
The MIUI 360 and that other one by Neosomething are almost the same, they have similar tweaks.
Because it's so customizeable an there are more CM7's I think

MIUI SS
MIUI LITHIUM
MIUI NEXUS PRIME
MIUI IPHONE360
MIUI ANDROID-STYLE
MIUI ICS
I count 8 so far - may be more though
Hmm how many 2.2 roms are there.....how many Ginger ,2.3 roms are out there....in my opinion miui is taking off nicely...
Although miui is 2.3 its not at all like Ginger or any other filmware out there
Its a whole different animal
i'd say the 4 MIUI roms under the same thread has the most support ...
and i got my working GPS using their rom. great work
i was in CM7 too but i just love MIUI for its customisation
On the MIUI discussion. Has there yet been a MIUI published that has an App Drawer built in, or has the capabilities of using one? I tried MIUI a while back but could not get past it not having an App Drawer. I know I move the apps to a folder and have the folder docked but this does not work quite the way I want it to, that and I have over 130 apps, and this takes a long time to move them to a folder. To be honest it is the only thing holding me back from using MIUI again.
Just use a different launcher that does have an app drawer, I'm using go launcher and loving it

Last time I tried, a couple of months ago,I had issues using any other launcher. I was using stock MIUI. If we are able to use additional launchers, I may have to give MIUI another try.
Oh and GOLauncher is what I use with CWM right now. Best Launcher I have found so far.
For one yes you can use any launcher you want and have an app drawer and second there is an alternative app drawer in android developement forum and the market.

Market launchers certainly work fine with MIUI ROMs.... Plus, if anything, you can just make a folder for all of your apps, set it to "arrange alphabetically" and just put all of your apps in that folder.

you remind me of my friend Hadyn.
He says that constantly but makes me laugh so hard haha
thinking of trying a different rom. Been using bionix. Would you suggest if MIUI is a good rom to move to? Hows the battery life?
Miui is faster and smoother, battery life isn't quite as good as a 2.2 rom but it's getting better. It's defiantly good enough for a daily driver.

ok, no miui app drawer. if you have 130 apps then i would suggest you sort them by use/function in folders. ie. Social/Tools/Games/etc.
other then the miui.us version all the roms you see are themed variants with additional apps/build.prop tweaks. most are setup by Nick and his team.
i usually just download stock miui, and rip the build.prop out of nicks rom edit it to suit my needs, strip out the crap apps i don't ever use zip and install.

I'm a fan of the D2G MIUI port for the D2. Far, far more stable than stock GB, and much easier to customize.
Port?
Sent from my DROID2 using xda premium
It was originally developed on the Droid 2 Global by aceoyame and a few others I think, and then adapted/ported over to work for the D2 by aceoyame as well.
Are you sure? I'm pretty sure its the other way around.

I use a standard Gingerbread 2.3.3. In my opinion, it is more stable thаn cm7
Actually the newest builds of cm7 are more stable than stock.

Been using Galnet MIUI 2.2.10 for close to a month I believe. Very, very stable and lots of cool little tweaks. ICS framework. 60% or so battery left at the end of every day.
Apex is a right choice for Droid 2.
tried CM7 and liquid smooth... liquid smooth seems to be the most stable and snappiest. CM7 was always buggy and lagged a lot, especially when unlocking the screen.
Well I just put the newest ics build on and the camera works. So that is the best rom for droid 2 now.

I to, had been using Galnet MIUI for a while and loved it. Recently moved to the MIUI ICS 2012.3.12 build. Was a little hard to get used to having no app drawer ( MIUI puts all apps on home pages ). After I moved to my present one, I installed the Alt Drawer, found here at XDA. At least I have an app drawer if I ever need one, lol.
I like the MIUI because it gives you a lot of governors to try and has the CPU tweaks, all in the Boot Menu. You should give it a try.

A lot of times I still use Launcher Pro on MIUI. I get the stability and options of MIUI with a snappy stock app drawer and lots more customization options. The only things that I don't like about the default MIUI launcher is that it doesn't have the drawer and the ability to change the number of rows and such, but as it's simply a launcher you can just change the default.

GB MIUI!

I think a great dev should take the old GB MIUI's and create an up to date working release of GB MIUI because its so much faster than v4 for the EVO. Like they could soup it up with ram tweaks, update the apps, add there own twists, and create a stable version of GB MIUI with working apn's and gps. It would be a great rom for the community that loves MIUI.
All that worked fine in the last version of MIUI ICS by Swiper that I ran
With my experience with ics and v4 is that its kind of sluggish. I'm talking about a gingerbread version where everything works because not everything works in ics and v4.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA
The only thing that didn't work was FFC. Everything else was fine, and it wasn't sluggish.
Well for me the keyboard experiences lag and the time it takes to switch apps or start one is very slow. Also just scrolling screens is laggy. I've just always experienced this lag when running an ics rom.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA
Swiperrat's gb miui 2.3.2 b1 es is top notch. In fact I'm pretty sure hipkat has it in his dev host link in his sig.
Yeah I downloaded it and I'm running it now

For the ICS probs you had, were you running any mods?? For me CoD tweaks are a must and using ROM Toolbox to disable almost everything from startup is important, too
Nope never ran any mods. Just wiped, flashed, and tested.

Dude, that's like buying a new computer and just turning it on. You have to tweak things.

Best ROM to date

So far, I'd have to say AOKP. I tried MIUI first, but the fit-and-finish wasn't there and it just seemed like more of a...young adult's phone (if I eventually give my Atrix to my 17-year-old, I'll put MIUI back on it and she'll no doubt have a blast with all the neat themes and customizations).
I then briefly tried AOKP, but hated the default launcher. I then tried CNA, and discovered the Nova Launcher, which I liked better. Realizing that CNA was missing a few AOKP features I liked and Nova could be used on both, I went back to AOKP, made Nova Prime my default launcher, and have been very happy since.
Mount Olympus CM10
max blur basic
Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
AOKP for me as well.. Though CNA is close second
For a sure Stable Daily Driver, I'd say CM7. But all of these new ICS roms have been great to play around with, But they come with bugs n unreliability. Thats what Nandroids are for.!!
"Best" ROM? That's a matter of opinion. Besides, we already have a thread for favorite ROMs.
Max Blur.. Is the best Atrix Rom.
If you want all the funtionality the Atrix has to offer.. Go with the Max Blur Rom. It have everything you need.
This has been discussed a bizzillion times... that's right, a bizzillion. The answer is simple... there is no answer. Every Rom is different an unique in its own way. Moreover, your questions is purely subjective. I suggest you make a nandroid backup, and try them each till you find one YOU like.
And with that said,
Thread Close.
