I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, because its a request not a question... sorry if its not.
I need the stock splash screen for mytouch 4g. I changed it to the nexus s Google splash screen when I switched to cm7. I need to unroot it to use the insurance for a replacement. My power button stopped working and the micro-usb port only charges occasionally now. Any help with this would be awesome. I tried searching but I have to from my phone at the moment and that makes it pretty difficult to sift through countless xda pages. Lol.

Look in the theme section, there's multiple threads on splash screens. I'm pretty sure, one of them had the stock one.
From my fist to your face, enjoy.
Go to the theme thread in the 4g section. If not, unroot. U should have the stock splash screen.

Even if he unroots, it'll still be what ever he changed it to. You can flash roms left an right, but that'll still always be the same. The location of the splash screen file is different then where we have our roms located.

I backed up everything from when I first flashed a new rom, including the splash.
Here's a link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YE603C62
Here's how to change it though you should already know:
Here is how to flash a new splash screen image to your phone using Terminal emulator.
Please keep in mind that as with any mod you can damage your phone beyond repair if done incorrectly.
1. Rename your 480x800 image file to (custom.img) and move it to your sdcard.
2.Open Terminal Emulator and type "su" to get a #
3.Then type this exactly as it appears and hit enter. Make sure not to make any mistakes!!!
dd if=/mnt/sdcard/custom.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p19
It should show you that the file has transfered. You can now back out of terminal emulator and reboot
your phone to see the new splash screen.

Thank you. I downloaded and unrared the file. But I can't seem to get it with terminal emulator. I typed the commands exactly, and even tried modifying them as my phone shows /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.2/mmcblk0op19
Any ideas?
#AngelFace#
Before there's a need to ask. I unrared it and put the custom.img in the root folder of my sdcard.

Im running CM6 and running into problems. I have done the push and pull on advanced and terminal. I ended up with no boot screen just the white screen with HTC evo 4g. So I tried and bought root explorer. I did rename the zips to bootanimation.zip and tried 2 seperate ones and can't get it to work.
I dis a nand restore and got the roms boot screen back up. Then I looked at where was said to put the zip and none of them had the zip. Just the /system/media has it. I was told to put it in /data/local/, /system/media, /system/custom. Each place I read was different. So I tried all three. Since I did a recover I don't have /system/custom anymore.
Anyways I looked through every folder and /system/media is the only one that had the zip. So I put a "f" after the zip when I renamed and didn't delete it if something goes wrong. I placed my custom one I downloaded of the sticky. Reboot and it had a boot screen different than the one I installed. Saidel android with a light glare going across the words. Deleted the custom zip and changed old zip back. Have no bootscreen now.

I can't seem to get my custom boot screens to work. When I do advanced or terminal I get no errors or anything.. everything goes smooth like butter to I try to see if it works and never does. Is this a problem with cm6? Anyone else on cm6 have a custom bootscreen to work? Are there certain ones that work only on 2.2 or 2.1? I tried the android pissing on the iPhone apple and the dancing android. Both didn't work. Still have no boot screen other than the white evolution 4g one.

I tried the bootanimation.zip for the Droid that he had on the post using adb. That worked the first time. Not sure why the other 2 wouldn't work but now have a boot screen

no replies yet...that's very sad..
If you can get to the recovery screen try wiping and factory reset.and flash a different rom. If that doesn't work. You can always do the unroot method by using the smping.mbh file or something like that. Look up how to unroot in google and you should know what I mean. Hope this helps

Well then you need to unroot your mytouch it basically puts it back in factory settings and you do it through fast boot. I'm guessing you have the original mytouch this how I did it

You don't need to get in recovery screen. Turn the phone off and hold the up volume button and the power button and fast boot the sapping.nbh file
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
What I did is:
Through fastboot I flashed SAPPIMG.nbh. It put my phone to the cupcake (1.5). Then I installed rooted HTC 1.6 update. After that I flashed any Rom I wanted.
Tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=586363
PS: This is the only working way I know since I am a noob too and finally got it going. Tried almost every rom in this section

So you can't put it back to stock? If you manage to get it back to stock by doing the same thing you did beforev you should try using a different recovery. aman-ra's recovery is the best for me. But I can't see how you can't get into the fastboot screen by pressing power and volume up,that's never failed for me. If its really impossible you should have tmobile replace it. I don't think they can tell you hacked it if they can't even get into fastboot.sorry if I took long to answer

Flash a different boot image. There are variations of these in the Apps section.
changing the bootanimation.zip will not change the splqsh screen , how do you change it ?

I have a script I wrote that will convert and flash a image for you. I will post it in a bit in the themes and apps section. Give me a hour or so to get home.

I stand corrected. There are threads in the Apps section that will flash new splash images to the phone. You can either use TrueBlue's Script or look in the "how to customise" thread and there is a link to it there
fastboot flash splash1 <yoursplash>.img

There are plenty of custom options in the themes forum. I use the awesome ASCII Android by Iriscience.
Hi everyone,
I have a friend who owns a mytouch 4g and he did root the device using instructions on the forum, visionary and then terminal emulator...
Everything was working great.
Then he did something stupid which is follow a youtube video on how to overclock but he ignored the fact that this procedure required running a custom rom on your phone.
This is the youtube link he followed
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amEwtRSH5ZQ
Now when attempting to turn his phone on it shows Mytouch 4G splash screen then reboots and it keeps doing the same thing over and over
I have a Samsung Vibrant and if something goes wrong I can always use Odin and place the phone in Download mode to bring it back to stock...
Is there such a procedure for the mytouch 4g and can someone provide step by step or point me in the right direction please or is there any other way to get this phone to boot up normally, or revert back to stock?!
I tried searching the forum but it seems to me that everything required the phone being able to boot up normally...
Thank you.
Have you tried taking the battery out for 30 seconds, i have a htc hd2 and how i get back to factory settings on my phone i turn the phone off and it comes back to wnd 2.6. I hope this helps
Isn't hd2 windows mobile?!

Load the PD15IMG on the sdacard and boot into HBoot for a 100% stock restore. Links can be found in the development section. Or flash a new ROM that will replace the kernel. Did he do a nandroid backup?

After it was done it asked if I want to run the update, didn't know what to select so I hit yes, and it seemed to do the same thing all over again but this time after the initial progress bar it actually said updating unzipping and whatever not in like 7 or 8 different steps and then it said press power to reboot.
Did this step revert to stock recovery or is the cwm recovery still intact somewhere?! How would I verify?!

Trying to return phone to stock and CANNOT enter the bootloader for it to recognize my stock image on the sd card because the darn power button is broken/stuck.
I try adb reboot bootloader and that sends me into FASTBOOT, NOT bootloader
any other way to get to bootloader (without use of the power button) or flash back the stock rom?
Thanks!
There is an app on market called quick boot that you could try. Hope it doesn't boot into fastboot too. Otherwise just try to flash an unrooted stock rom, that might work for what you need.

I use an app called Widgetsoid, which includes the ability to make a widget that can reboot your phone, Can be set up so that you choose how to reboot (Recovery, Power off, etc).
Requires SU access to reboot with the widget, and please be aware that when I had a couple different roms, the widget simply failed to reboot at all -- for example it works fine when I'm running Darkside Sense 4.0, failed to work at all on meXdroidMod Ghost Chili's rom.
Hope this might help ya out
I found an app called button remapper thanks to I forgot who.
It will remap power,but...
It will not work to turn the phone on,and once you use it to get to recovery, you will need the power button to scroll through,so you'd still be in trouble if its completely broke.
Pm me and I could send you the file when I'm on the computer tonight.
If you want to try.
Or search for button remapper on xda.I don't think its in the market.

Oh come on.
How about if you go to install zip from sdcard,or wipe/reset,did I miss something where you can use the trackpad to go back, when there is no go back option?or like I was saying, you would need to hit that trusty power button to ho back.
I don't know,I might have missed it after flashing about 500times.
But pretty sure I use the power button all the time to go back after wiping data, then cache, power to ho back, wipe dalvik, power to go back, install zip from sdcard, power to go back, then reboot system.

Getting a bit sidetracked here, I am trying to revert to stock ROM and cannot because the Power button is broken on this piece of crap and I cannot get to bootloader.
• adb reboot bootloader and that sends me into FASTBOOT, NOT bootloader and does not load image
• no option in Settings > Power or Settings > Applications to disable fastboot (I have gingerbread)
• using CWM recovered > Install zip from file does not work
Can anyone advise a way to revert to stock image without HBOOT, that actually works and does not require the power button?
P.S. this whole thing has really made be disenchanted with the mess that is android right now. Since it seems that it really android is not open or owned by google. Instead owned by the carriers. I should not feel like a criminal for wanting a basic android phone. Makes me almost want to scrap and get an iPhone.
Firstly, its not the Android OS that's the problem. Its your broken ass phone so calm down. If your thinking Android is not open, go ahead and get an iPhone and you'll see what a not open OS is really like.
Secondly...
I read you have Clockwork recovery installed. Flashing this image through Clockwork will at least make it look stock. It is said you will lose root but probably keep S-ON.

Why are you trying to revert to stock if you don't mind me asking? Are u sending it to HTC for them to fix it? They wont care if your rooted they will just wipe your phone and put in the mysense gingerbread rom. I highly advise u to contact HTC and check your warranty. I sent in NY CM7 mt4g and they fixed the power button for free.

Thanks, frustrated is all. Taking it out on Android OS, but really peeved at GOOG
- for having caved into the carriers by letting them bastardize the OS with their mods, forcing me to feel like criminal in modding and jumping through hoops to get a vastly better experience
- for not outbidding verizion on that wireless spectrum and becoming a carrier themselves
Was original N1 owner (first week) and will prob sqitch to galaxy nexus (as soon as they get on more carriers)
Thanks on the suggestions, tried to reflash through CWM several times and keeps giving me installation aborted.. will download again (in case is corrupted) and try again; Interesting other suggestion, will take a look at, but not much time, have to send back replacement tomor
Thx again
You can also try this. It is a nandroid restore somebody made. It seems a bit more involved because it looks like you need to use an older version of clockwork recovery. If I am correct you can find an older version of the recovery and flash it through rom manager, but dont quote me on that one.

When I had a MT4G and the EMMC chip died I hooked the phone to a 12 volt battery and fried it. I then called and told them I plugged the phone in to charge one night and the next morning it would not power on. They replaced it no questions asked and I never heard anything about it again.
My mom's power button went out as well. Tmo and HTC flat out refused a replacement MT4G, Saying it was a "known issue". I called them about 10 times total about this problem. They just want to sell me another phone. Full price. Since i've called them so many times they wont even do a Insurance claim.
If this is a "known problem" why the f isn't it being taken care of properly?
Has anyone else had this problem with customer service?
