Trying to return phone to stock and CANNOT enter the bootloader for it to recognize my stock image on the sd card because the darn power button is broken/stuck.
I try adb reboot bootloader and that sends me into FASTBOOT, NOT bootloader
any other way to get to bootloader (without use of the power button) or flash back the stock rom?
Thanks!
There is an app on market called quick boot that you could try. Hope it doesn't boot into fastboot too. Otherwise just try to flash an unrooted stock rom, that might work for what you need.

I use an app called Widgetsoid, which includes the ability to make a widget that can reboot your phone, Can be set up so that you choose how to reboot (Recovery, Power off, etc).
Requires SU access to reboot with the widget, and please be aware that when I had a couple different roms, the widget simply failed to reboot at all -- for example it works fine when I'm running Darkside Sense 4.0, failed to work at all on meXdroidMod Ghost Chili's rom.
Hope this might help ya out
I found an app called button remapper thanks to I forgot who.
It will remap power,but...
It will not work to turn the phone on,and once you use it to get to recovery, you will need the power button to scroll through,so you'd still be in trouble if its completely broke.
Pm me and I could send you the file when I'm on the computer tonight.
If you want to try.
Or search for button remapper on xda.I don't think its in the market.

Oh come on.
How about if you go to install zip from sdcard,or wipe/reset,did I miss something where you can use the trackpad to go back, when there is no go back option?or like I was saying, you would need to hit that trusty power button to ho back.
I don't know,I might have missed it after flashing about 500times.
But pretty sure I use the power button all the time to go back after wiping data, then cache, power to ho back, wipe dalvik, power to go back, install zip from sdcard, power to go back, then reboot system.
Have I been doing it wrong?

Getting a bit sidetracked here, I am trying to revert to stock ROM and cannot because the Power button is broken on this piece of crap and I cannot get to bootloader.
• adb reboot bootloader and that sends me into FASTBOOT, NOT bootloader and does not load image
• no option in Settings > Power or Settings > Applications to disable fastboot (I have gingerbread)
• using CWM recovered > Install zip from file does not work
Can anyone advise a way to revert to stock image without HBOOT, that actually works and does not require the power button?
P.S. this whole thing has really made be disenchanted with the mess that is android right now. Since it seems that it really android is not open or owned by google. Instead owned by the carriers. I should not feel like a criminal for wanting a basic android phone. Makes me almost want to scrap and get an iPhone.
Firstly, its not the Android OS that's the problem. Its your broken ass phone so calm down. If your thinking Android is not open, go ahead and get an iPhone and you'll see what a not open OS is really like.
Secondly...
I read you have Clockwork recovery installed. Flashing this image through Clockwork will at least make it look stock. It is said you will lose root but probably keep S-ON.

Why are you trying to revert to stock if you don't mind me asking? Are u sending it to HTC for them to fix it? They wont care if your rooted they will just wipe your phone and put in the mysense gingerbread rom. I highly advise u to contact HTC and check your warranty. I sent in NY CM7 mt4g and they fixed the power button for free.

Thanks, frustrated is all. Taking it out on Android OS, but really peeved at GOOG
- for having caved into the carriers by letting them bastardize the OS with their mods, forcing me to feel like criminal in modding and jumping through hoops to get a vastly better experience
- for not outbidding verizion on that wireless spectrum and becoming a carrier themselves
Was original N1 owner (first week) and will prob sqitch to galaxy nexus (as soon as they get on more carriers)
Thanks on the suggestions, tried to reflash through CWM several times and keeps giving me installation aborted.. will download again (in case is corrupted) and try again; Interesting other suggestion, will take a look at, but not much time, have to send back replacement tomor
Thx again
You can also try this. It is a nandroid restore somebody made. It seems a bit more involved because it looks like you need to use an older version of clockwork recovery. If I am correct you can find an older version of the recovery and flash it through rom manager, but dont quote me on that one.

When I had a MT4G and the EMMC chip died I hooked the phone to a 12 volt battery and fried it. I then called and told them I plugged the phone in to charge one night and the next morning it would not power on. They replaced it no questions asked and I never heard anything about it again.
My mom's power button went out as well. Tmo and HTC flat out refused a replacement MT4G, Saying it was a "known issue". I called them about 10 times total about this problem. They just want to sell me another phone. Full price. Since i've called them so many times they wont even do a Insurance claim.
If this is a "known problem" why the f isn't it being taken care of properly?
Has anyone else had this problem with customer service?

If you can get to the recovery screen try wiping and factory reset.and flash a different rom. If that doesn't work. You can always do the unroot method by using the smping.mbh file or something like that. Look up how to unroot in google and you should know what I mean. Hope this helps

Well then you need to unroot your mytouch it basically puts it back in factory settings and you do it through fast boot. I'm guessing you have the original mytouch this how I did it

You don't need to get in recovery screen. Turn the phone off and hold the up volume button and the power button and fast boot the sapping.nbh file

What I did is:
Through fastboot I flashed SAPPIMG.nbh. It put my phone to the cupcake (1.5). Then I installed rooted HTC 1.6 update. After that I flashed any Rom I wanted.

So you can't put it back to stock? If you manage to get it back to stock by doing the same thing you did beforev you should try using a different recovery. aman-ra's recovery is the best for me. But I can't see how you can't get into the fastboot screen by pressing power and volume up,that's never failed for me. If its really impossible you should have tmobile replace it. I don't think they can tell you hacked it if they can't even get into fastboot.sorry if I took long to answer

I finally got my "Alltel Bee" rooted last nite using super one click. Before I roll out any custom roms etc, I'd like to make sure I get a backup, and my phone is hanging on the alltel logo whenever I try to boot into recovery (whether I boot in from Rom manager or from Hboot.) I always end up pulling the battery and rebooting the phone.
I do have an idea as to how I got to this point, and I have only myself to blame, but in my frustration of trying to root this thing I did try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743289 and recovery has hung like this ever since.
I've got root now, and have installed Rom manager, used that to flash clockwork recovery, yet I still have the issue. After a few google searches, I've seen some suggest that fixing file permissions can fix this, and I've done that as well with no change.
Where do I turn next?
So after some more searching and reading and such, I've discovered that even though I have root access, booting into HBOOT shows S-ON still. Could this be the issue in my inability to get a recovery written? Anyone know how to deal with it?
How do you know it is a hang in recovery? If you see the triangle and nothing happens, just click the power button once and usually you will land in the recovery mod menu.
I don't get the triangle at all. I get the initial Alltel logo and that's it. I've waited several minutes before pulling the battery before, but I don't get to the triangle or the menu.
Super one click will only do a temp root. There are no hard roots for the bee that i am aware of. DO NOT TRY UNREVOKED AS IT IS FOR THE BUZZ AND COULD YOUR BEE OR A FROYO BUZZ

My DroidX always enters bootstrap recovery mode everytime i turn it on or reboot. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? I ever had the same issue and then flashing the SBF cleared the problem. But that's the time when I haven't injected the RUIM. Since I'm not on Verizon, i'm afraid that if I do that again my injected number will lost. Is there any solution for it?

I think there's no any checkboxes in the toolbox. I'll try looking for it in the Liberty setting
From the home screen hit menu, settings, Liberty settings. Then unchecked the one that says to go into recovery everytime.
With the nature of the bootstrap it is better that it is booting to it. And you will think the same when something goes wrong and you can't load a recovery. Remember there is no way to boot into recovery by holding a key like other phones.
Got it, dude, and it still goes into recovery even though I have unchecked the option.
I wonder if the ROM got bugs because i got some FC in the Liberty setting even after I reflash the ROM and got the fresh Liberty toolbox from the Market. Damn this thing just start p#@*%g me off.
Easy fix. Someone helped me when mine was doing it. Get or go into an app called root explore. Open it up and go all the way to the bottom and click on system then bin then at the top of the screen click where it shows RW it then should show RO then scroll down and find "hijack" long press and delete then scroll down and find "bootloger" delete that then the next one is bootloger.bin long press it and rename it to just bootloger just get rid of .bin and your done. Just remember to use bootstrap to get back into recovery when you need to.

Why are you even rebooting your phone enough for this to bug you? I reboot my once probobly once every three days just for fun, i dont experience any slowdowns or anything its just me deciding why not.. You make it sound like you reboot your phone voluntarily every hour or something for no reason
Secondly yes, bootstrap on reboot is a blessing not a curse... What happens if you start liberty up and you get a CONSTANT force close that does not go away and keeps coming up no matter how many times you click close?? Your phone will be INOP and you wont be able to do ANYTHING or even get to the manual bootstrap menu.. therefore having to SBF.. WAY better to have an available bootstrap whenever you need it automatically
I've done this about three times and never had a problem I got this information from someone that I trust and knows more about this stuff then I will ever know. Its not hurting anything. I can still get back into recovery through bootstrapper every time with no problems. I wouldn't post this if it would mess up anyones phone. So what happens when you screw something up and get bootloops? Difficult to access bootstrapper when you can't get past the boot animation or even boot logo.
The point of it starting first is in the event of said bootloops you can get into clockwork and restore. From what I understand if you turn off your phone you wait about 30 or so seconds and when you turn on your phone it will skip clockwork, it only pops up when you do a battery pull or if you shut down and power back on right away.
Why are you turning your phone on so much for it to be a pain? I reboot my phone every 2 or 3 days and it doesn't bother me one bit. If you're complaining against measures that are there for your benefit then I don't know what to say... Deal with it.
It works for me. I've had boot loops and have always been able to get in recovery. So is he just supposed live with it. I do turn my phone off ever night I like to give my phone some time off and by doing that I've never had to replace a battery. We all do things differently. He can do what I've showed him or not its up to him.

Easy, boys. I appreciate the replies. The reason is I just dont like having to meet bootstrap option everytime i turn on the phone or reboot it. I never have bootloop even until now with this DX, even if I do, it's me who have to deal with it. So you see? The why-question is all about me. No offense but lets just stick to the how-question.
@spacecasespiff
So how do you go to bootstrap if you have bootloop?
I've had two bootloops the first was when my phone was doing what yours is doing do I did a batt pull and the recovery screen came up so all was good. The second tine was with liberty and that one a batt pull did nothing so I went to the forums and found out about holding the power button and the home button down and it put you on a different screen sorry I can't remember what was on that screen. You then use the search button to navigate the screen. I can't remember what I had to choose but I think it brought me back to the recovery screen. Its been awhile since that happend so I could be wrong. Just search the forums for it. Obviouse if you have a bootloop you can't get into bootstrapper. But if you can use what I learned about the power and home button you can get things back.

Oh i see. I bet you just got to the DroidX original recovery then wipe it.
Well that's not so bad if you have bootloop eh?
So i guess have two choices here, using some ROM that doesn't have built in bootstrap recovery inside or applying the tutorial above to avoid the problem i have.
Problem solved then. Thanks everybody
This is a stock htc tmobile mytouch 4gphone and it stuck on the white mytouch 4G screen. I don't know if this will work but download the pd15img.zip for either 2.2 or 2.1 (sorry I forgot which the stock 2.x is) or if your on 2.3 download that one but the rom, not the radio. Before you do that format your SD card on the computer to fat32 and then try to install that but it will wipe every thing on your phone.

If you read that thread you'll find the answer to all of your questions. Stop panicking and do your research. Seriously. This phone has built in way to restore software problems. If the eMMC has crapped out or the bootloader is corrupt, then you're hosed. Otherwise, it's fixable.

Need help too please!
I recently rooted my S3 i747 and then installed cyanogenmod 10. Keep in mind I am not a wiz at doing these things, however it did work. Here in lies my problems. 1. I hate this OS with a passion. Its just not what i thought it would be so I would love nothing more than to figure out how to remove it and return to stock firmware or another custom rom. 2. If i stay with this rom (for not being able to figure out how to remove it and install another) I am running out of storage internally. Its a great possibility I could have done something wrong. so with that being said, can anyone help me? I have tried more websites than I care to. thanks so much!
backup?

Well what I did was follow along a youtube video... Which in turn may not have been the best idea. I remember doing some sort of back up on clockwork or something like that. I tried to go to recovery mode and restore but that didnt help. Im not sure what all I did to be honest. :/

edit... Pull the battery on your phone and put it back in. Hold up vol, home button and Power till you see the little words in the top left corner. It should say booting recovery really small. at that point take your finger off of the power button only and it will boot into Recovery.
If you have CWM recovery or TWRP you are golden...
Or else... see below
Find your phone in it's section you should be able to find a method using Odin to flash it back to stock and then you can read up and find the way to do everything you want.
Just do your research and look through the forum for your phone type/carrier and you should be able to find all of the information that you are looking for.
Search and you shall succeed!

why do you guys make things so complicated? the guy wants his phone back to stock.
The only thing you have to do is to go to www.sammobile.com/firmwares. Then put your phone number i9100 in the search box and choose any of the roms below. They are all stock, 2.3/4.x.x etc. The rom is in a zip file, however, you have to extract the tar file inside it.
Power off your phone then, while holding vol down, press and hold power.
Open odin in your pc then connect the phone to pc while being in download mode. press the pda button in odin and insert the .tar rom whoch you have just extracted. press start and you are done.

Well returning to stock is just as easy as finding a stock ROM in his phones thread and flashing it, it'll be better in the long run that way as well because maybe he'll learn something.
