That's dirty. Best Buy exclusive? Lame. You have to buy a junk laptop to lock into the fire sale. Wonder if they'd let it slide if you return the laptop. I guess they would catch it or have already set preventitive measures.

They'd probably set a bar for Black Friday deals not apply or a price limit if they'll even have them around that time.
The only way I see this working is find someone that wants to buy a pc and go with them and you fork out the $150. Other than that I don't see anyone buying a pc just to get a touchpad. The first fire sale was bait for something like this.

HP really played dirty on this one. I need a new laptop but am waiting to buy on BLACK FRIDAY. I was really pissed when i received the email stating they can't meet the demands for their last batch of touch pads (something like that). Now its only available in best buy SMH

I recently got an e-mail from Tiger Direct and they were doing this. Received it but about 20 minutes after I looked at it online, they were sold out.

I went to staples tonight and bought a xoom wifi off the shelf. WOOT, Since I live in Utah, all the staples are closed Sunday so I guess they opened sales up early.

I just bought one today at the Redmond, WA Staples. I thought the wi-fi only version was not supposed to be available until tomorrow (Sunday 3/27) and in fact Best Buy either didn't have them today or wouldn't sell me one... but Staples did.

They're always gonna have special bar codes to identify each unit individually. One reason is to keep people from doing something like this....
Just wait 2 days for your Amazon order or just return it when it gets here if you buy the Staples one.

Crazy, i was born and raised in Redmond!
I saw the model version at staples in new York. They didn't have any for sale...either that it was all bought out. But the demo unit had the latest 3.01 version. From all demo units I saw, none of them had internet access at all! It's quite a shame cuz there's a lot to show. But the demo unit was snappy and fast!
Just picked mine up at Staples(manassas,Va in case anyone cares)! Unfortunately it came with the battery completely drained so im waiting for it to charge enough to turn on.

So far I like it. Typing on it now, the keyboard isn't ideal for two-handed typing. Gotta touch type. Also not seeing spellcheck in the browser. And typing on the full XDA site is realllllly laggy. Wondering if that's due to flash. Oh well, so far so good.
It is a bit heavy room come to think of it. Damn!
Edit: Spellcheck has to be enabled in the keyboard settings. Gah, such a n00b error.

The xda site is very laggy on the xoom. It has been that way since day 1 with any xoom. Get thumb keyboard in market for excellent typing on xoom.
...besides amazon? i want to be able to buy it in store like at Best Buy, Target, etc.

Walmart had a nook display unit but all you can do is turn it on and see the "you must sign in and be connected to the internet to continue" screen, not a good demo.
My big dilemma is can a 7" screen replace my netbook?
I'm also thinking the slightly bigger and older Vizio tablet. Having a universal remote in the tablet is actually something I think I would use a lot.

One of the supervisors at my store (I work at Walmart) got the Vizio tablet when we had it on sale for 198 dollars and got the 10% discount on that. She says it's good for certain things, but the remote control thing is wonky.
Also, the Fire isn't designed to be a replacement for a netbook. My netbook is used for long-term keyboard use things -- IRC, writing, etc. The Fire is more for games and stuff. Although, the SwiftKey X hack makes it better...
I bought mine at Target yesterday.
I got mine at target.
Anyway It could possibly replace a notebook if they ever make a keyboard for it. If they did I would get it so fast cause then I could stop logging my 2004 laptop to school

I was meaning 7" vs 10" size difference more than functionality. I have a netbook to have a compact web browsing device, with good battery life. But my netbook's battery is broken, and charge port is wonky, so it won't always charge, and when it does it only lasts like 30 minutes. But, its out of warranty, so I am looking to replace with KF instead of fixing it. I have other computers laptop for full computing needs.
I played with a Nook Tablet, the screen wasn't as small as I thought it would be, seems well sized.
Those that got their KF at target or best buy did they have displays to use? I think I am leaning towards the KF to save the $50 over the Nook Tablet, but still want to use it before buying.
Then I saw the best buy black Friday ad ... 10" honeycomb Asus transformer tablet for $250. But I hate fighting black Friday crowds, especially best buy. I've sworn three times to never do best buy on black Friday ever again, but they keep luring me in.

We don't have Target or Best Buy here, but the Staples in Ukiah has them in, as do most Staples locations.
Got mine at walmart. Great thing about wlmart is you could rub it over wit a lawn mower and they will still let you return it.

$150 to $225 would be about right
Depends on the capacity of it, but unfortunately they aren't worth that much anymore. If you are going to sell it though, do it soon before the new tabs start hitting the market and it will be worth even less.

Based on your tax situation, gift it to charity and then take off $799 on your taxes.
Just looking at completed listings on ebay, they are selling used for $275+ typically.
i wouldnt go lower than $250. the lowest price i've seen at a physical retailer is walmart @ $330 for the 16gb. best buy (as far as website) only carries refurbs for $299 for 16gb. no new ones to be found.
even with a quad core 7 incher from asus at $250 looming, $250 for a used a500(10-inch tablet with at least 16gb and full size usb) is a good deal

Is told they wouldn't carry it as they don't carry the N7. They said it's because they would take a loss on it. I think it's because they're in bed with Apple. Just look at the amount of Apple they carry over Android.

My wife is one of the Google Chrome Rep's at Best Buy. (I don't think they have one in every store) The program just changed and they are basically dropping the Chrome from their name. In one of her emails the company said that the reason they don't carry the Nexus 7 is because of a deal between Amazon and Best Buy. Mainly because it's the direct competitor. It doesn't look like Best Buy will ever carry the Nexus 7. She wasn't sure about the N10 but it doesn't look likely.
If you are, generally how long does it take for Costco to get new tablets? I believe they go the 8.0 (which I'm currently using) generally quick. Thanks in advance.
I was told by a sales associate at my local Costco yesterday that the earliest would be just before Christmas, but most likely next year. They had a loaded palette of the current Note 10.1 on display, so I'm sure they want to unload those first.

It was at least 3 or 4 months after release before they got the original note 10.1 in store. My guess is at least as long for the new one.

To my knowledge Costco never stocked the 32 gigabyte version in the stores either so I personally am not going to wait for them and wonder what configuration and color they will get it in.

Well I heard Amazon has a great return policy if anything is wrong with it and I don't think they have a restocking fee like Best Buy and Walmart might.
I also need a 10in tablet, my 8.0 isn't cutting it for all my E-Books I need for school.

Best buy does not have a restocking fee (or at least I have never been charged one). I've returned things that have no defects without any issues.
