Just got my A500. It has a lot of cool ports, including the proprietary charging plug. On other devices it is possible to use the micro USB cable to connect to the PC and to charge the device via a wall charger.
So my question is this. Can I use a micro-usb charger to charge my A500 via the micro-usb slot?
Not on the A500. Takes too much juice to charge the big batteries. You have to charge through the plug .

So this may be a silly question, but I've just received the T-Mobile MDA (HTC Wizard) second-hand and without a charger.
The Mini USB port on the bottom allows ActiveSync and charging from my notebook's USB port, but when I try to charge using an AC-to-USB adapter it doesn't work... I've tried two different Motorola phone chargers and a generic one that came with my Jawbone that has a USB female connector on the adapter and you supply your own USB cable. I've used the same cable I was using when attaching to the PC, but no luck.
Interestingly enough, I did get it to charge with the same USB cable once at an airport by plugging it into the Southwest Airlines chairs with the USB power plugs...
So does anyone know? Does this phone require a special sort of charger?
you need a charger that is rated 1.0Amps.
usb is normally 500mAmps, not enough to charge your phone.
Hi,
I bought PowerGen 3.1A Wall Charger, when I use with original Micro USB cable that come with my Samsung Galaxy S4, the charging current is 1.9A, when I use with a generic USB cable, the charging current is only 700mA. (I have a way to test the charging current)
Does anyone know which Micro USB cable that carry fast current, such as 1.9A like original USB Cable that come with S4, or even better, carry up to 3.1A that this Wall charger provides?
Thanks All.

Faster charging is enabled in the kernel, not by a cable bro.
Hi,
you have to look for custom kernel with fast charging support. I am using faux123 with fauxclock app.

If your connect both your pogo cable and your mico usb cable to your pc they won't charge at the same time. Drivers at the kernel level detect that both are connected to the tablet and only let one charge to prevent power draw overload. In this case it would charge from the pogo charger as it can recognize that the pogo charger is delivering a safe amount of power while simultaneously cutting down on charging time. You can however connect your pogo charger and have the tablet charge while the micro usb cable is connected to transfer files to and from your tablet, use adb etc. Let me know if you still have questions.

I would double check that comment. I have a pogo plug and OTG cable with Ethernet adapter or SD card reader attached. The icon that indicates the device is charging shows BUT it is not actually charging. I confirmed this under both Android 4.3.x and 4.2.2

Very interesting, the point I mentioned above is as least theoretically what is supposed to happen when plugging on both charging sources. Just to clarify your device doesn't charge at all when you have the pgoo plug and OTG cable with Ethernet adapter or SD card reader attached?

In theory yes but Google didn't include it in the Android rom. A developer for the old Nexus 7 did add the capability but never for the Nexus 10. I doubt very much that the next version of the Nexus 10 will include a pogo plug connection.
I'm not sure how to take advantage of the full 2A charge. Im using a recommended 2.1A/1A car charger for my nexus 7 that i installed in my dash.
My setup consists of a USB OTG right angle cable, a usb 2.0 male to male standard cable, and the 2.1A port.
Im also using USB rom
Under USB settings, it says USB fast charging, but my tablet is DISCHARGING quite quickly.
Is there a fault in my setup? much appreciated. Thanks:good:
I suspect I know the answer to this, but I just wanted to get confirmation.
I was originally led to believe that the Galaxy S5's included USB 3.0 charging cable allows faster charging than a USB 2.0 cable. Upon thinking it over, the 3.0 cable should really only provide faster charging compared to USB 2.0, and only when plugged into a USB 3.0 computer port.
When using the same USB 3.0 cable via an AC wall adapter, the power output of the wall adapter should be the only thing that really determines the charging speed: Fast charging with a 2-amp wall adapter, slower charging with a 1-amp adapter; whether the cable is USB 2.0 or 3.0 should not matter.
Am I correct here?
The USB 3 cable provides only extra data lanes no extra charging speed. The AC charger will charge at 2amp and on PC you are likely to get not much better than 450mili Amp.
