I am currently running SkyRaider's Vanilla RC3 and LOVE it! I am looking for a new ROM to play with though. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Virtuous 2.7 running Kings #4 kernel is what I'm rocking right now, if you're into a Sense-based ROM it's quite good

CM6 is a must of you don't like sense like me
The only thing I like about sense is the clock and as you can see below I've got that covered

I tried an aosp rom the other day, Ruby. It isn't quite stable yet (random reboots throughout the day) but its an interesting change of pace from a sense-based rom. The super smooth scrolling is really nice too!
In the end I went back to SRV due to the instability, but I made a nandroid in case a more stable update is released.

Whoa that sense clock is stunningly close to the official! Could you tell me the name of that widget? I've tried fancy widget (rides too high and close to the notification bar) and Weather & Toggle Widget (background cuts off at the bottom too short). Both are similar but not faithful to the original.. the one in your screencap looks identical to the original HTC one, minus the color scheme of course.
I'm a graphics guy so yes I am super picky

(I like the clock, too!)
Back to topic: +1 for Virtuous 2.7, but prefer Adryn's kernal.

I didn't do it personally
But the easyest way I heard it to rip the .apk apart with a program like a zip extractor and edit the files from there then rezip them and digitally sign the application
Again I can be wrong but if anyone knows how I would like to learn the exactly correct way

This is correct. You need to unzip it with winzip. Go to the \res\drawable-hdpi and edit the .png files that you want a different color. Then you need to use winzip and zip it as a .apk file then have it digitally signed and then zipalign it.

I have a nandroid of Virtuous 2.7 on my phone. Once I went Vanilla it's hard to go back to a Sense ROM. I think I'm going to give CM6 a run, but I have heard a lot about the instablility of AOSP ROMs and that kind of scares me. SkyRaider is rock solid, and would hate to go to something that's not stable.
Redemption
I've bee pretty happy with the Redemption Rom. Why?
Depending on what you want, stock app-wise, it's easily customizable as far as adding/removing what you want. Same story with the 'value added' goodies Lou bakes into the ROM itself. He included several apps in the load that I didn't know I would want or use, until I tried them - now they seem essential to any ROM, imho.
It's easily customizable via the links he provides in the main thread, and there's elements you can easily add/remove based on where he put them in the ROM itself.
For me, this one's my daily, and if you like sense, there's a menu of tweaks/options you can do with this ROM to make it all your own.
Agreed, Redemption is a great one. SR Vanilla, and Virtuous are also great. I'm loving Redemption though, great goodies, smooth, plus love the lock screen and notification window.
I do love SR's boot animation, with the Androids popping up...

The only thing I have against RR, (minor, to be sure), is the lack of support in ROM manager. I'm lazy, sometimes, and like to check for updates through it or am at work and don't want to bother with a mobile browser. I'm currently switching between Virtuous 3.0.1 and Shadow ROM.

I agree. Ive been through rom manager and flashed them all. Redemption is a great rom.
Redemption 2.0.3. king kernel oc-uv #5. incredible revolution theme, rosie removed. Launcher pro. Prepare for glory splash. Various boot animations.
Recently I joined here again and I've seen some new ROMs with the comming of the official FroYo. I've been here for a while looking for some Froyo Sense ROM and they all look really nice. I've been running Wildpuzzle after CM but it's a bit slow and now I'm searching a better one (if it's possible).
Which Sense ROM would you highly recommend?
Thanks for all and sorry for my bad english!!
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
All Sense ROM's will be slower than AOSP (Non-Sense) ROM's because Sense requires a lot of processing power. You can look at Sunaabh as an alternative to WildPuzzle but I doubt it will be as fast as CyanogenMod.
For me personally, I use WildPuzzle because I like to keep a Sense ROM, and, Live Wallpapers in Sense = Win for me.
I haven't tried any others, but WildPuzzle 0.7 seems very good currently, and not too slow at all, specially if you overclock it.
wildpuzzle v8.0 is the best Rom .
Im using wildpuzzle...
But
For me cyanogen is better, too bad camera recording and radio is not working and some other bugs.
Thats the only reason why im on wildpuzzle.

I hope for you that there will be an different way
WildpuzzleROM,even thou i'm using launcherpro to replace sense,i still prefer it over CyanogenMod due to the bugs and different apps(gallery, flashlight, etc.)

If you're looking for something that is reliable and fairly close to stock, just tweaked here and there, I'd say Sunaabh.
If you want a more tweakable and enhanced version of Sense then head over to Wildpuzzle. Can't really go wrong with that one.
I'd recommend trying out an AOSP ROM with a different launcher, like Launcher Pro, if you're game; the phone tends to be a lot smoother that way.

Nothing. Some people do get crashes and instability using it though. Although I have been using the inbuilt ADW Launcher with CM7 since I have been using it, and, there have been no issues.
Also, for people who have spent time with both launchers, they are of the opinion that LP offers more features, and, is more stable.
hm ok...i've been using ADW on wildfire and X10 and 0 crashes or problems...
thanks
The next update of the ROM will be based on FreeXperia Sources 100%
Which should fix tethering and most other things
I love my X10 and there is a bond with other X10'ers here
I wanted to start modding my AOSP into something that I want to call SpartaMOD
I had prepared for this some time ago ...
The ROM will be added on ROM Manager (HTC Desire HD section )
I only have the guts of asking because I now have a lot more knowledge as I created my App "God Mode" based on OMFGB
what would you want in this ?
Be very specific and the advantages of having it
I can't include MIUI Lockscreens , xLoud , etc (I'm not TripNRaver)
Please be careful This MOD will be spread to very many devices
Plans for now are :-
ARC , Neo and X10
HTC desire s and desire HD
Any one cares ?

1. combination of launcher will be great.
SE 2.3.3 floating overview, SE home, Go style application drawer with animations and build in task killer.
2. CM theme chooser
3. Must have apps pre-installed
Rooted and Superuser 3.0
Explorer (free)
New Android Market
Titanium Backup (free)
Facebook inside Xperia (perhaps )
On the T.E.A.M Rom they have appman which I believe is good for putting add-ons onto your rom without having them pre-installed or having them downloaded from the thread.
Thought of joining FreeXperia Team, spaarc?
You'll make a great addition, i think you should take my name "prodigy" cos you really are one, 15 yrs and first to port 2.3.7 about 4 days after release, remarkable achievement!

Is it possible for you to develop something that lets say could totally rework something like the statusbar?
Like being able to choose where the signal bar will be and the battery icon?
Something like that would be awesome
Would like yhe no wallpaper option if possible.

I like the ICS UI and its everything. But so far, the DZ ICS ROMs are still in DEVing status. I want to go back to CM7 but I think I'll miss the ICS UI.
I'd like you guys especially the ones who love ICS and are using CM7, how do you guys theme your rom to look close/similar to the ICS? (launchers, lockscreens, theme packs, other mods etc)
Cm7 ics theme in market works good. For me I still use adw ex, so the launcher looks wrong, but its the closest. The ics launcher is also good.

I've been using this theme recently and love it:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327602
For the lockscreen, I use Go Locker with the ICS theme. It looks and works almost exactly like the stock lockscreen.
Hi all,

AOSP! Speed and efficiency!
It's speed and efficiency, over looks.
I've tried them all, but i always go back to Sense 3.5. (Waiting for stable for daily use 4.0.3 with Sense 3.6)
Well.. I was just wondering if we can have all.. aosp sounds fun but HTC have many widgets and HTC sync to provide the convenience that I need.
Will uninstalling HTC sense do the trick or cause the Rom to Fc?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
It's all driven by personal choice.
I installed an AOSP ICS rom and I loved it, but ultimately, for me the experience was lacking without Sense. So I dropped back down to GB with Sense 3.5.
I'm waiting for a stable ICS release with Sense, will upgrade then
Well, that's why I'm asking if there is any way to combine both..
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I am also a huge fan of Sense. But i'm on IceColdSandwich and really love it for daily use. When there will be a working sense ICS ROM i will switch, but for now i'm going with the AOSP one. You can customize it so that it at least looks like a sense rom
do what I do...keep back up of another rom so if you get twitchy you can flip back etc..actually I have three at the moment .runny 4.0...this is my daily I use this more because of sense...ics just because its smooth and...sweet. and now got absolution.I'm not a gamer so save data etc doesn't matter to me..SMS can be retrieved if needed.contacts are on both so..my 10p worth
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Anyone else find battery life is poorer on sense roms, or is that just me? I'm currently using IceColdSandwich, really nice rom.
Well, an AOSP uses tons less space and ram, so i would imagine the battery life would be immense on that.
I flashed Virtuous Quattro and that used hardly any space in the system partition, where sense Roms use almost all of the space.
Perhaps I wasn't clear enough.. what I'm trying to find out here is if there is any sense Rom that is possible to be customised to look like ics without losing the advantages of some sense apps and HTC sync. I'm not into switching roms as I prefer to have one to work as my daily driver.
I know of coz ics Rom can be customised to be as close to sense but without sense kernel, there will still be missing HTC sync and some sense apps.

Ok I will put it to you simple. The only way to have sense apps is to use Sense. Non of the widgets work without the launcher being used. All of the apps can be replaced with AOSP versions. Not sure about the navagation as I would never use a phone to tell me where i need to go. Sync seems to be a big deal for you and not sure why. There are far better option out there.
So simply if you want to use HTC apps then you will use Sense.
yeah but depends if he wants the widgets..the apps themselves can still work, your not wrong though, the asop is quicker, battery lasts longer.can customize more,..sadly although i have them on my back ups,im a sense rom junkie, gets on my nerves to be honest. im hoping, with sense 4..they up there game now, sense 3.6 is..just with a few added bits not really an overhaul and its debateable whether because its running ice cream in the background if it will actually make a difference
forgot to say, although you can replace all apps from sense with others in asop. The mail app still in my opinion is one of the leaders for that sort of app. If someone could port that out of a sense rom id be chuffed lol
