Everywhere I read about this phone, I don't see it mention the battery life. With a big battery there should be some baterry review.
Galaxy S II has 4.3" screen and 1650 mAh battery,
Galaxy Note has 5.3" screen and 2500 mAh battery.
it looks like Note's battery life is not much but longer than S II
Got mine today.
Charged it to 100% at 7pm.

At home since 4 p.m. and connected to the Wifi hotspot.
This is great news! Thanks for sharing. Hoping to order mine soon.

Getting mine 1st Novermber!! The First thing i'm going to do is get rid of touch wiz though :/
This taken from the engadget review
Sound awesome....
Our battery rundown test (playing a video in a loop starting from a full charge) achieved an impressive 9 hours and 36 minutes, putting the Galaxy Note right into iPad territory.
got mine and will be testing it whole day tomorrow, will update how it turns out

How long does it take to charge from drained to FULLY. I have the the infuse and it takes forever to charge, it is not fast charge like HTC is or any other smartphone. Samsung seems to take forever to charge compared to other Smartphones.

Time to charge will depend on the
1. battery capacity,
2. charger and
3. settings about how fast the battery can be charged
1- no control.
2- chargers are mostly 1mAp . Default charger for samsung gives only 650mAP ( at least in SGSII ) . So u can use a more powerful charger.
3. Kernel changes can be made to make charging faster
Downside of faster charging : Lower battery life in the long run.
Day one with a full charge in the morning.
Ofcourse I used it more than usual, its new you know....
I guess battery life will be sort of the same as the Galaxy S2, about 1 day of moderate use.
I think thats too short, way too short. (had a mophie juice for all my iPhones, and the Samsung S2 official battery pack)
3500 or 4000ma would be so much more convenient..... Room enough in the case of the note I guess.... Who cares about the few extra grams....
My Nokia E61, now that had a battery LIFE.... 3 days was normal...

That makes perfect sense then why your Wifi is on all the time.
If you change it to 'When screen turns off' it should then terminate Wifi when your not using the phone.

I leave mine set to when the screen is off, that way I know full well when my screen is off the wifi (which is the biggest killer of battery life) is also off.

I just picked up the tab today and i am liking it so much more than the xoom. Much much more. But the one thing I am concerned about is that the battery charging time is unbelievably slow.
The one thing I could say in the xooms favor was that the battery charging speed was supernatural. It literally took less than 40 minutes to charge the whole thing which would last 9 to 10 hours on normal use. That was the one thing about the xoom that was positively good.
So far I have had the tab charging for hours and it's still not full. I plugged it in at 8:14 with the battery at 8%, now its 11:44 and its still only at 74%. That's more than 3 hours and its not full. I think I remember reading that the battery is bigger and last up to 15 hours. If all that's true I can understand longer charge time but 4 hours is alot. Is this normal?
And how long does the battery really last? Does it really get 15 hours? That would be nice.

The battery is 7000 mAh, it takes me an average of 5 - 6 hours to charge depending how low I let the battery go.
Battery life on the tablet is great, sometimes I can go for 3 - 4 days on a single charge, sometimes a single day, it really depends how much I've used the tablet.
I also had the xoom for close to 3 months, and the xoom's battery not only charges considerably faster but I also feel that it last longer also than the 10.1, just something you will get use to.
Damn, I am really loving this tablet. Its SO much better than Motorola's crap. But I don't know if I can adjust to this battery. I can't leave it plugged in all day cause that defeats the purpose of having a light weight portable device. I guess ill have to see how it holds up after a full day of usage.

I charge it every 3-4 days, and I leave it overnight. I have no issues with the charging. The battery life is actually quite awesome.
My only complaint is idle-time battery life. If I leave it turned-on, but asleep, I find battery will discharge in ~2 days. That's not what I expected from the device while it basically sleeping!
Maybe poor app management on my part, I dunno.

Yeah I think it lasts longer also, but that part doesn't bother me so much. Its the charge time which kills me! 40 mins vs. 5+ hours is crazy. I am having a hard time adjusting ...
I do proof reading on the tab so I use it alot and when its plugged in it is very ergonomically unfriendly due to being tied down to a very short yet intrusive cable. Anyway, just a compromise I wasn't aware of.

The Samsung definitely doesn't rapid charge like the xoom, but it lasts all day and I greatly prefer usb charging options. At least I can use the Sammy charger for other stuff.

Yeah, I never use it while it's plugged in, the cord is way too short unless you have an outlet right on your desktop
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
10 feet cords on ebay for $3-4. Solves that issue. It sounds like you are complaining about the tab being plugged in to charge, and which is a silly thing to complain about. You say you are proofreading? You need to be on the move while doing so? Remember to charge your tab at night and you won't have issues. Don't bash our tab because you forgot to charge.
Sent from my Galaxy Tab 10.1 using the XDA Premium App
Agreed. USB extender cables work fine. In fact, splitters work too
I don't mean to start an argument with you but some of your reasoning is a bit skewed. First of all to say "our tab" (as if it's some fanboy fraternity is just silly) includes me as well because I also own one that I purchased with my own money. Secondly, I am not bashing it. I was originally asking a question to see if mine was performing normally then I stated how this is an inconveniance for me. Thirdly, customers are fully entitled to review their purchases and express their feelings and experience. This is how products IMPROVE. If every company could depend on foolish non-critical fanboy psychology to sell products, people like you would be paying twice as much for a product half as good.
To take issue with the way I use my tablet because I find a 5+ hour charging time an inconvenience on a mobile device is stupid. If you must know, I am proofreading in my spare time and help take care of my sick mother. I have to potentially be up at all hours and change my location frequently. And yes, to have to plug in a short and obtrusive cable for hours on end everywhere I go is an inconvenience. Neither did I criticize Samsung or your (or should I say "our" ) beloved tablet. I just stated the awkwardness and undesirability of the charge time.
If you need all other people to be unconditionally fanatic about some product so that you yourself can appreciate it, I think it has less to do with the actual product than some sociological mental issue.
Anyway I started writing with the intention of just mentioning the importance and value of being "objective" and I wanted to avoid coming across as a ****. I know... I know...

Obviously not a software issue then since both the xoom and the sgt are vanilla honeycomb.
The battery lasts on average 7-8 hours of use.
Gawdang battery, lasted too long!
So my first android was the nexus one, then the galaxy s, then the nexus S. I am used to the "fantastic" battery life of android phones. So yesterday I was deciding on whether to get the galaxy nexus to continue the tradition, but decided to get the note instead.
I want to do the right thing and that is to do a full charge and full discharge on the first few rounds of battery life but it took AGES for it to discharge fully. I am so pleased with this, I now have better battery life than my wife's iphone.
******** If you see the battery chart, I could not resist playing with the phone so did a little charge there. I am also trying to avoid root as long as possible, after the so call "stock vanilla" experience, its nice to have toggles on the notification without jumping through loops

I got my Note on Thursday morning. I didn't have time to set it up until Friday evening. I fully charged the battery first. I've got gmail and twitter syncing, and bluetooth and wifi on. I've made a few calls and showed it off to my family on Christmas Eve. It hasn't been heavy use by any stretch, but I have yet to recharge the battery - it's at 33% right now with screen on time of just over three hours. I'm pretty satisfied so far.

So I don't understand this thread. How can you know how long battery last for if you part charge it?
Not much to understand, my friend. This thread was not made to prove anything, just to show I am real happy with my phone. You are completely right, I did charge it in the middle, I was transfering songs and movies out from the computer and forgot to take it off the usb.
I am now on the second from full to zero. Lets see how much screen time I can get, but already its a winner for me. 77% with 10h on battery and 1h 39m screen time.
Happy holidays all.

Congrats on your new purchases, may you have much joy with it, like I do mine.
i got the note a few days ago and im very pleased with the battery usage. right now on normal usage im on 48 hours of on time, with 40% battery left. display is the biggest usage of course, and has been on 2.5 hours. ive done lots of installing via wifi and playing with new apps and running games, and a few calls, etc. my old galaxy s would get 48 hours only with very minimal usage and nowhere near 2.5 hours of the display on.
So I am now on my 2nd discharge or 3rd and I rooted it, so there was a whole lot of plugging in and adb and stuff, but I think on a real discharge I can get away with about 4 hours screen time, that is stretching it i think but, generally still very very happy with it. Compared to the nexus S and the galaxy s before, this is heaven for me. I still maintain its better than the wife's 4S

Not to be crass, but any phone that is used at 10% brightness, which is what Samsung uses, is going to last the day with heavy use. This is not surprising, and any phone is capable of this. The challenge lies in making the phone last the day with the brightness up.

I hate a dim screen. I just set my display to 100%. I expect to need a few spare batteries which does not bother me in the least. As I've said elsewhere, IMO this battery usage is awesome. Best I've had except for that One S.
Use it hard, the battery is going to die. edit-I'm near my charger all day so have not gone below 60% yet.

Loving the battery life so far, I used my phone for like 4-5 hours last night with the brightness up pretty high (70 or 80%) and a couple hours today already and its still got plenty of life left ^.^
Ditto. I do not like a dim screen. At least not Samsung dim. It's clearly done as a ploy to artificially inflate battery life runtimes. Someone called them out on this in a review and said that the SIII at 100% brightness is at most 70% of the One X's brightness, which I believe, as there is at least a 200 nit difference in peak brightness between these two phones. This is easily visible. Especially in videos where it matters.

Probably MUCH better battery life, and with damn fast download speeds still! Gimme my hspa+42 & I couldn't be happier! More than respectable speed with outstanding battery life for a powerful cpu & screen this large and beautiful! You'd better charge it to 100%, then try to use it 'till it has like 5% left, and then charge it fully again
Wow this battery life looks great compared to the XT912. I looked at the specs and it has a 2000mAh battery rating, which is not anywhere near what the Razr Maxx has, yet the battery life seems to be good. Maybe the Intel chip is better on power than I would have thought. I thought the x86 architecture would be horrible on battery.

I am very unhappy with my standby time.
With: GPS off, Wifi off, no data connection, only 2g standby, display off -> device in standy
I get only ~50h of standby time. That is ridiculous, even my old defy could get the double of that.
I wanted to add a cpu spy screenshot, but the phone froze while I tried to take it . . . now I have to wait to collect new data.
2GHz mode was a little high.
Of 10h, it was like 1h on 2GHz, ~7.5h in deepsleep, 1.5h in 600MHz and some few minutes distributet on 900MHz and 1.2GHz.
I had the display on for less than 15 minutes in that time. Does not make any sense to me at all.
Anyone as a hint what I can look for?
Really looking forward to get mine. I ordered it partly because of this thread. My Desire HD hesitates to get me through a day in college. Today i left at 7am and returned at 3pm with just 3% left. And this is not a rare occasion, happens almost every day. My razr i should arrive next monday or tuesday, hope i'm happy with it

I don't really like my battery stats .. I own mine since Friday, have done approx. 3 full charge circles (was down to 30% once), so the battery should by calibrated by now?
The Display was switched on for only ~2 hrs. It's not that much better than my old Desire HD. Do you think that a single app could cause battery drain? Motorola Smartaction? Or the WiFi i have activated at home and in my university? The "Battery Widget? Reborn"- Widget, that analyzes the battery and will tell me the estimated time left?
I think it's too often on 2 GHz frequenzy ...
I have a year old Note and have been getting progressively lower battery times, I have tried every possible trick and several ROMS. Recently was getting as low as 12hrs. I have had a cheap replacement battery (non Samsung) which was not used often. Recently when I used it I noticed about the same battery life as the original. I purchased a new Samsung battery and now I am getting over 40hrs on one charge with moderate use and sync on with no other changes.
My messge is : change your battery at least every 8-10 months, you will be astonished as I was. One of the great features of the Note is the ease of change of battery, use it!
Yep same for new battery and it's like I have a new phone. Without changing anything my screen on time almost double.

I've been doing that for over a decade now but this time i bight a hyperion aftermarket.
I bought two actually. I keep one in my car. This way I'm guaranteed a full day's worth of heavy usage.
Also got the dock + second battery charger.
I'll never get a mobile without the ability to replace the battery.
Screw the new HTC devices.

Non removable battery is a deal breaker - your phone will be useless after 12-24 months depending on the charge cycle.

One of the great features of the Note is the ease of change of battery, use it!

i don't have the time to order a new battery online or look for it in stores so simply i swap out the kernel for the rom i'm using and with the current one i get about 20hrs which isn't much compared to when i got it a couple months ago and worse yet if you have on hsdpa+ whole day battery life drops to about 2/3
After one year (for me ten months) the note 1 needs a new battery. Decreasing bat life, random restarts, and screen flickering are all indicators. I thought i had runaway process issue or hardware problem. But i finally ordered an ankor battery from Amazon and my unit is fine andback to 20hrs.
I thought this was settled back in Nov.
Now just waiting for my jb!

Do not buy a spare the time time as the phone if you are not going to use it until the original goes as it will deteriorate from the day it's made, even with out use.
From box 13......
I don't know if this is still necessary nowadays, but I always use the battery till it's about to turn off the phone. My batteries always have a pretty good lifetime, so I imagine that helps.

My 10 month old stock battery is still giving me much more on screen time with wifi. This is reduced to half. I used to get 10-12 hours on screen time when i got it out of the box.

In his dreams I have 2,5 hours screen on time with autobrightness. That was much better on gingerbread days. Maybe leaked Jb versions are not well optimized. We will see after official update. I think I will buy an original battery too.

This is a common misconception that if you leave the battery to almost deplete every time it will be better for it in he long run. I have done a lot of research on this topic for laptops and smartphones. Essentially they use the same type of battery technology which does not suffer from memory effect, but if you stress the battery a lot (letting it deplete before you charge it again or almost deplete below 5%) than it will damage it more quickly.
The optimal way of charging your battery is:
1) After the first cycles just charge it whenever you want (even it is at 70% and you are at work, you can plug it to get another 10% and then unplug and use)
2) Don't let it deplete, it will stress the battery too much and damage it in the long run
3) Every 30 cycles, you can let it discharge to below 5% and let it recharge until 100%
I have done this on my PC which still has its battery at above 80% after almost 3 years, and to some extent on my Note, but as I can't always foresee how things will play out I sometimes need to use to until the last drop of energy .
Hope this info helps.
10-12 hours with stock rom and stock battery. Now it has dropped to 7-8 hours. With no replacement. I will be getting another battery soon.

Wonderful.
You are getting 7-8 hours of 'screen on time' with a one year old degraded battery. When you get a new one; lemme know, I would like you buy the old one of yours.

That is definitely battery drain. Better post a screen of the battery your apps are using...
With a brand new battery, you cannot achieve much more than 5 hours of screen on time with general usage.
You can indeed get much more than that when watching video, but that is the only scenario where that is possible (or maybe staring at a black picture for hours).
So people saying that they get 10 to 12 hours of screen on time are really getting 10 to 12 hours of uptime, meaning the phone is turned on but is sleeping most of the time, with maybe 2 to 3 hours of screen on time.
That's lousy battery life, and those people should buy a new battery.
