it will come out when the developers release it.

it'll be rooted when you downgrade to 2.2.1 :X
j/k or whenever, dunno how much progress/work people have been making on developing it

downgrade
I have tried that available link to downgrade but all in vain. i successfully got temp root but not able to perem root. so when i put downgraded stock rom, recieving message newer version is there and visionary is not helpful in my case.
Any idea how to do that .
The only reason i want to root is my camera . i dont know what happened to it. but whenever i try to use my camera it ended up in blank screen.
I am not good in that but thinking to change the rom maybe it resolve my problem
Any help / guidance thanks in advance.

What do you mean newer version? Are you following the downgrade guide that requires adb to push, execute some files, and flash all by adb. When you downgrade, you don't simply flash the pd15img.zip you should follow the guide.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App

Look in my signature, see a link to Wiki. Open it, go to section "Root", subsection "Gingerbread 2.3.4". There will be a guide which needs to be executed IN FULL.

Try and read this with caution NOT ME OR THE PERSON WHO MADE THIS IS REPONSIBLE... it has a one click downgrade and a one click root.. after all that is down, there's a root version of gingerbread available... one step at a time...

my phone was originally on 3g.

What version of Android has it got? Also use Unrevoked 3 first!
Its currently Rooted and has a custom rom on it 2.2.1.

Oops! Misread your question, thought you said root not unroot!
Do you know what radio it had originally? You should be able to find one on the shipped ROMS site.
Sorry
EDIT: By the way, did you make a goldcard? Did it decline it?
i dont remember what radio it had on thier. However, i updated the radio from a link i seen on the Wildpuzzle rom thread.
it oringnally had 3 software on there.
i want to unroot it with debranded firmware.
ive tried this
RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.25.405.1_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.3
1_release_142189_signed.exe...
and im recieving the error mentioned above

I assume you have looked here? http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Buzz
Hi, yes thats were i downloaded the firmware.
but im recieving errors when using the update
Do you want Froyo? If you do then this "should" work. HERE
You will NOT be able to re-root on that ROM.
Or if you don't want it then try this Eclair ROM HERE
Give them a try and tell me what happens!
Hope that helps you
Hi, i want to reroot in the future so i wont go for the froyo update.
just to be sure, if i update using the eclair update will i be able to still root in the future?
im still recieving the same error it goes all the way to writing signiture and then just shows the error.

I'm assuming the 3 you're on is 3UK? You could try to install it as a gold card if you know how.

At the moment you can't get permanant root on 2.2. You can get a temporary root, but that wont let you edit anything on /system. If you can find someone with an xtc clip you can get your phone S-OFF which makes /system writeable.
Downgrading seems to be easy based off the 2 or 3 step by step guides I've seen on this forum so far.
Your questions are no different to any of the ones asked before by others, please use the search next time.
Downgrading will work, but, it will still be unrootable. As said above, the only way as of now to root 2.2 is by using an XTC Clip hardware box to get S-OFF, then, downgrade (this is a 'proper' downgrade) and root.
You can root your phone...

Enough of this already, people. You need a XTC Clip for that, which costs about $220. This is the only way, for now.

I don't believe this. Because that process was not a newer one and was there long ago. If it worked, it must have became a lot popular by now. And "Universal Androot" is not a root application recommended for NAND locked devices like wildfire. If one has bypassed the nand security with xtc clip and made s-off, then this process might work. And once if u make s-off, there are many other rooting options available. But the point here is to root the wildfire with hboot 1.01 and S-ON dude.... Do not just stick with the thread title. Read the thread, he mentioned wildfire 2.2 clearly.
I doubt whether ur device is wildfire or not (if wildfire rooted or not). Check the below attached "Root and Me" application. In that, go to the root guides and check the compatible devices for "Universal Androot" process. There is no wildfire in that.
Just confirm any process after it worked with u guys.

U might not have asked this question if u know that his process is nothing but "Universal Androot".
Inspite of being aware, i just tried it for u. It won't work and says failed.
If anyone wants to recheck they might. Actually that process is little bit confusing. And im attaching a screen shot of that website below.
The process says to install "App installer" just to install an apk file. Cant we install an apk file from a file manager ? This is ok.
Then the process says just to enable usb debugging alone to transfer the apk file frm PC to wildfire. It not even says from ADB, so i expect it means to transfer through disk drive. Come on stop joking.
I found that this forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
was very helpful I am running droid 2.2 Froyo on a Cherry Mobile Candy
I was able to root my phone semi permanently. So long as I don't clear the data for the Z4root program I maintain superuser status. So far I have had no problems and have been able to remove bloatware using AntTek App manager with ease.
thanks man

[Q] Help with Mytouch 4G with Gingerbread 2.3.4

Hello everyone,
Any help you guys can give will be much appreciated.
I have a MyTouch 4G previously running Froyo, rooted and S=Off. Against better judgment, I decided to put this release of Gingerbread 2.3.4 on it:
PD15IMG_Glacier_Gingerbread_S_TMOUS_2.19.531.1_Radio_12.58.60.25_26.11.04.03_M_release_200756_signed.zip
Though everything seems to work fine, I lost root. Contrary to most other accounts from other people who flashed the same file, S=Off remained on my phone.
I would really like to get root back so I can use some of my apps again.
Visionary stops at a black screen.
Gingerbreak runs forever with no success.
What other means can I use to get root back or am I SOL for now until someone figures out how to root 2.3.4 on the MT4G?
Thanks again.
N
From what I could find in the forums, you are kinda stuck till someone comes up with another exploit in order to gain root and s-off
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
I am stuck in the same situation, except that I updated first to the official gingerbread rom for mytouch 4g and then tried to root my phone, i.e. the phone was not rooted at all.
I'm quite confident an exploit will be (re)written - just a matter of time. It's just that I couldn't use some of my paid apps.

lOOK AT WOLF26915's post use the G2 instructions to temp root using the fre3vo exploit in adb then change your version number to 1.17.531.2, then your bootloader will allow you to use the 2.2.1 PD15IMG update to get back to stock and root.

This is the problem with n00bs. You wanna jump head first into something you have absolutely no understanding of then beg for help over and over in here when you finally brick your phone.
Stupid. You FAIL!
So sick of new users of Android trying to jump before looking. You're the same kind of people who would jump off a cliff before checking to see how deep the water is. Then want help after you break your neck.

That was 20 years ago. And yet, even then, when I wanted to know something; I searched and searched and searched, and searched again. Then I read and read and re-read over and over and over again. And after all that if I still didn't know then I would ask. But I would also ask in a proficient manner.
Too many young kids jumping in on the Android bandwagon and wanting to root and flash Rom's right out of the box without learning first.
I stand by my first statement.
If you had Radio S-OFF, you should be able to flash an unsigned PD15IMG.zip even though you lost root.

I also downgraded back to 2.2.1 then updated to the rooted 2.3.4 and it works

Lost phone..new one came with stock 2.3.4

So I lost my phone..the new one came in last night. And it came with 2.3.4.. I tried to down grade it..followed all the instructions from the forum and everything worked fine..until the bootloader part. It said that it couldn't find the
PD15img.zip file when I put it in the root of the sd card. And then I followed the FAT32 method to make the phone read my sdcard..but that still Didn't work..now what?? Used the search bar but could find anything..

Look in the vision g2 section I was in the same boat as you there is a tut in those forums for downgrading to 2.2.1 with adb it also works for mt4g wish I still had link but its there
Same here... Lost my phone and received the replacement yesterday (off course version 2.3.4). Turned out it is a refurbished, the speaker not working, the earpiece not working. I missed another release of lovely Miui
I just happened to see this post and am curious what the problem is... Why are you downgrading it???
I have a Mytouch 4g (HTC Glacier) which was having issues and I just got the replacement. I have not even turn it on, but I have not doubt it will be 2.3.3-- their latest OTA udpate.
Is there going to be any problem rooting this?? Again, it alarmed me that people were trying to downgrade..
Has the firmware/bootloader changed???

There is no method to root 2.3.4 yet. That's why people have to downgrade.
Do you mean like downgrade from 2.3.4 to 2.2.1 root it, and then upgrade to 2.3.4?
But the only way to do that is if we had the stock 2.3.4 rom, which we don't have, correct?
So I can skip the root and wait, or I can downgrade and be able to use 50% of the apps which I would otherwise be unable to use as they require root.
This sucks.... I am sure someone is working hard on this... but I am surprised there has not been any method (even one that was risky -- as in one typo and you've bricked it) figured out by someone...
Ummm.. Next question then, Can anyone tell me any obvious benefits of the TMO 2.3.4 stock? Is it fast, or mediocre? Or is it just worthless due to the fact that you cannot root it?

Didn't quite understand what you mean but yes, if you got the phone pre-installed with TMO's 2.3.4 then there's no way to root that. You would have to downgrade back to Froyo then root it.
There really are no benefits to TMO's stock 2.3.4 since CM7 2.3.5, VU's 2.3.4 and MIUI's 2.3.5 GB are all better and faster. And even if you liked TMO's GB version for some reason there are rooted and deodexed versions to flash in the dev section. So there really is no downside to rooting.
And as previously stated, the only way to downgrade would be to use that thread in the G2 section which requires ADB.
If you have any questions I just finished downgrading my replacement phone and and rooting via gfree last night.
And before last night I've never even used ADB before.
Found 2 threads that helped me do just that.
Got it all downgraded then followed a video to root gfree. (mackster248)
(Never rooted that way before either.)
Anyway PM if you need help. Maybe I can help you out.

I came over from Sprint Sunday. I bought a new MT4G, and it had 2.3.4 on it. I had a bad feeling there wasnt gonna be a root method for it. I jumped on my PC and did a few google searches. I came up with this method to downgrade:

It went perfect. I also looked at a few of the root methods. I found this one to be easiest for me:

Yes you would half to downgrade to 2.2.1 to root there is no way to root 2.3.4 right now
Yea, unlike most of the other HTC. Phones that got a 2.3.4 update, revolution doesn't support unlocking the mytouch 4g without a downgrade. On the first page of this thread I posted a link to downgrade and the easiest way I found to root. Someone also posted links on this page. I found a few other root methods but they required you to install apps to gain temp root access or download files on the phones browser. The link I found actually only requires you to dl and unzip a few files to your PC and run maybe 10 or 12 commands in a terminal. Very easy.

[Q] When will root be available?

OK, i recently got the OTA update for 2.3.4 on my T-mobile mytouch 4g. I was temp rooted, as to get my feet wet because I was new to root and the whole android system. I temp rooted with z4root. Can anyone post updates for anything on rooting 2.3.4+? This thread can be for all updates, or for just you guys to help me. You choose, but can you at least help me? thank you!

here you go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912#
i'm not responsible for anything that happens to your device.
Just like he said the best way is to downgrade through that method. And perm root either by the advanced way cyanogen wrote up. Or more user friendly ones that just require terminal emulator and not adb. u can find any of them through basic searches or through the development section.

1-click root like Z4root isn't available for any phone with Gingerbread 2.3.4 and up.
Judging by some posts on various boards, it won't ever be available, since developers aren't working on any such solution.
You can read some entertaining read:
http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...otloaders-rooting-manufacturers-carriers.html
And remember some things:
1) Since that time, Samsung and HTC has officially declared they aren't going to lock their bootloaders. Actually, Samsung kept it open all the way, and HTC declared they're going to unlock them starting this summer.
2) There was no easy root app for Gingerbread 2.3.4 ever made, even though an exploit exists that allows temp-rooting. Which means - there are no devs interested in making rooting easier than it currently is, or they're prevented from making rooting easier.
About devs not willing to make it stupid easy to root anymore - you might read Cyanogen's post somewhere, also from several months ago.
Ok. I've researched, and found something called GingerBreak, but I don't really understand it.

To restate what Jack_R1 said. There is no root for gingerbread on this phone. It's simple enough to revert back to 2.2.1 and root once you are there.
[in my words]
If you afraid of ADB and the SKD, and you are to lazy to do some research, you shouldn't be rooting your phone anyway.
[/in my words]
now i took the time to put all of the basic information that you'll need in the newcomers thread. Link in my signature. Take your time read though that and you can root your phone. Regardless of the version you are using. And there is a link, with video, for you setting up your ADB.
Thank you all for replys. you can keep them coming if you wish.
neidlinger, in your signature, it says how to root with root.sh. Is this a perm root or temp root? And is it compatible with 2.3.4? How would I unroot?
EDIT: read on xda that all i need to do is download the froyo rom, boot into recovery or hboot (sorry i forgot), and flash it? Am i correct?

In my signatures are methods to root 2.2.x. If you should read my Newcomers thread there is a link for rooting 2.3.4 devices.
Sorry...thank you for all your help. Can you confirm that my edit is correct? " Iread on xda that all i need to do is download the froyo rom, boot into recovery or hboot (sorry i forgot), and flash it? Am i correct?"

froyo rom... you mean the PD151IMG.zip? if it's that, then yes, boot into hboot, and flash.

EDIT: sorry, a simple google fixed it. And all i do is flash it, then im on stock froyo and can do any root i want? Will all my contacts and apps be saved and stuff?
Wait how do I flash a ROM from hboot? And afterwards, how do I get out of hboot? Sorry, I just want to be extremely sure I don't brick my phone or f**k it up in any possible way.

well, once you have the PD151IMG.zip in the ROOT (not in any folders) of your sdcard, the bootloader/hboot should recognize it, and will ask you if you want to update. hit yes, and the rest will be done for you. DO NOT PULL THE BATTERY DURING THE UPDATE PROCESS, THIS WILL BRICK THE DEVICE. after that just reboot (first reboot should take longer than usual, it's normal)
if for some reason the bootloader/hboot isn't seeing your PD151IMG.zip, then redownload the zip again.
It did the no image thing... retry? My stats are:
Glacier PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.89.0005
MICROP-0429
RADIO-26.11.04.03_M
eMMC-boot
Apr 14 2011,13:18:22
EDIT: I connected it to my computer, and the zip file is named PD15IMG and a lot of other things. Do I delete all of that and rename it PD15IMG.zip?
