Hi I know this issue has been covered before... I have searched for it.
the best I've found a mention of a mms fix in themes thread... but I couldn't find it
Please could someone point me to the solution for the sms changing to mms after 460 characters...
I don't like any of the third party messengers (which seem to complicate what should be a very simply thing)...
Thanks

You couldn't find it yourself in the last 11 days?

I Keep getting Out of memory errors when tryng to send MMS through the Palm threader app and I haven't been able to find a fix on the boards. So basically I want to see if its possible to use both the Default MMS for sending pics and Palm threader for sending Txt's. Is that possible? after i install palm threader the default MMS app that came with my Tytn II dissapears. How can i get that back?
My phone is the Tytn II and I'm with cingular I know this is not the keiser section but I figured I would ask here since they are similar phones in some ways and there is more activity here on this forum.
Thanks for your support
Id love to get that back too... even after changing the settings in the palm mms it still will not send or recieve... very weird.
I dont believe its possible to get the mms portion of outlook back. If I remember you could keep it around after install if you didnt change mms1 to mmsold with a reg edit.
If anyone knows how to get it working (on cingular preferably) let us know..
and yes I have read every single one of the 55 pages on the palm messaging app thread in hermes...
thanks for the reply its good to know that I'm not the only with this problem hopefully someone could help us out on this.. Crossing fingers
I've read some posts about lags in sms, but those were more related to the fact that, when sending to a contact with huge sms-history, the lag will occur.
I, and many users with dutch rom, have problems with sending messages to contacts, even without any sms-history. Messages will not send or i get a delivery report hours after i send the message. Even receiving messages is problematic. Only a soft-reset will solve the problem, but only for a few hours
Anybody an idea? Even better: a solution? It's getting really annoying.
A sollution could be disable the HTC Messaging and enable the "old" sms style like the outlook client.
The patch for this option disables mms, so thats not an option..
Maybee anyone who does know a better sollution?
I really never use mms, so thats a pretty good option for me, how could I disable the htc messaging ?
On another forum i've read this, but didn't do the job for me:
HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCMessaging\Compose -->string 'ExecPathName' --> change in 'Tmail.exe'.
I still want to use MMS, though is not that important. If it solves the sms problem, that would be nice. However, in my opinion it should work ok, even with SENSE on, so for now it's a nice workaround (if possible)
hehe thats the same solution that I tried from tweakers.net but also for me it didn't solve my problem
changing that registry string results in a not working button when ticking "More"..
On all my previous phones I could send a text message that was up to 10 sms long but now after I reach the end of 3 sms, a popup sais converting to mms and i need a data connection to send the message which is really annoying..(since it costs a lot here in belgium and my sms are all free..) Any help would be greatly appreciated . .
Nobody knows how to disable this?
i think it'd be possible to change/remove the MMS settings in the APN settings, i think i've read somewhere that removing them will have ht ephone to finally send as text.
however don't take my word on it, i'm playing around with it now, and i'm not too sure about the consequences this would have for incoming MMS.
You can use Handcent sms. Theres option in settings to disable converting into mms
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Someone knows if there are some option or only settings (that i can download from the market) to disable conversion to mms without install other application?
thanks
Unfortunatelly, as far as I know, this annoying "feature" cannot be modified
I have fixed it by using a modified version of the stock application available here.
mod <int name="smsToMmsTextThreshold">4</int> to <int name="smsToMmsTextThreshold">100</int> in mms.apk/res/xml/mms_config.xml
The whole tutorial is on the thread that has been linked to above
unfortunately, while that is a solution for those willing to root their phones, it isn't for those who would prefer not to. Rather than using handcent, search BigSMS in Android market. It doesn't try and take over your entire SMS system like handcent. It just offers a nice simple frontend to sending SMS. It's not an OS Fix, but it's the next best thing.
either external app or rooting
I know I have seen this before somewhere on this site but after much searching and looking I still cant find it. I want to increase the number of ppl I can send MMS messages from 10 to ? Right now I can only send 10 MMS messages at once with my TMOUS HD2. Does anyone have the reg edit handy? Thx.
NVM I found it its #85 on tips and tweaks...lol
Hello guys,
I have a Hero with official android installed(updated too), no rooted... It´s unbranded.
My question is:
Everytime i receive a MMS it just gets 1kb picture.
I read a lot of threads about it and found a lot of apk files to modify the useragent.
To install those files, my device needs to be rooted?
If it needs to be rooted, is there another way(i dont want to root)?
Thanks
Sérgio
edit: I rooted my phone... but still don´t know what or how to do... Please, help!
no one can help me with that?
I had this same problem a while back.... you get a MMS msg which is 1kb in size that you cant open!
It turned out.. it wasnt a MMS message at all... someone had sent me a text that was too long to fit in a SMS, so it was converted to MMS. I forget how i fixed it.. maybe i changed something in the MMS settings. Have changed ROM's so many times now i dont know where/what i changed. or might have contacted my carrier to send me MMS settings.
Make sure your phone is set up to reccieve MMS from your carrier! I think thats what fixed the problem for me.. not 100% sure tho
