Ohh MY
thats the first i've heard of that one, Have you tried turning of BACKGROUND DATA in the SYNC app then restarting your phone, also are you rooted and currently using a custom rom

I turn off everything, i kill all apps and still the same. I tried couple off roms right now im using wolf 2.3.3 and a little better than rest of them but the same thing is going on on the factory rom

Er could it be your screen's wet or fingers are wet? My x10 will have this problem if there's moist between your fingers and the screen.

Hmmmm ok, there is some logic in that, I'm field worker so always inside and outside speciay from 7 pm I'll try that (that i dont get it out from the pockets outside) maybe its water, hot and cold all the time from 6,7 pm tnx in advance

Haha good one, whats that like 5 hours
On topic however i never get more than 72 hours b4 the phone either the market stops working or the menus lag up a bit then i restart it and then it's all fine.
My phone is rooted, with no real mods yet...
i can get up to 10 days, advanced taks killer does its job sometimes market forcecloses but it instantly comes back and works perfect. 2.1 generic with oneclick

I reboot once every 4 to 5 hours, I think I have OCD... just reboot for the hell of it.
I got like 2 weeks once...LOL
with 1.6 over 40 Days
I have one trick, name "Fast Reboot" (Android Market App) helped with menus lag and others
with 2.1 no stats for now because of: JIT, Optimiser, 2.1 Custom rom etc
just a weekend xD
use a lot of apps so they drain my battery really fast and sometimes it kinda overheat
Record is 214 hours, by that time the phone was slow as hell..
But that's on 1.6, trying to beak the record on 2.1
How you get those numbers!!! I can't even pass the 30 hours barrier I got a x10a with x10i firmware and rooted no hardcore mods
Please put more tips or how you get over 200 hours
Thanks

They're not talking about battery life.
If you're using the phone normally, there shouldn't be a reason to reboot unless you feel like cleaning out the RAM and starting fresh or there's something that can't be forced closed. With my old phone, I'd go months without turning it off. No reason to.
Oh I get it
Thanks
Btw can't remember when was the last time I reboot
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
Currently my uptime on 2.1 is 329 hours (not needed to reboot it since the initial upgrade to 2.1, still running prett snappily !)
Most interesting is the battery life, currently 48.5 hours and still 29% of battery life !!!! And that is with GPS, 3G, Pop email and widgets all running plus just played a 30 minute session of Angry Birds !
on 277 now.
but I reckon its.time to think about loading a custom Rom tho.
let's support the hard work.

Try flashing your original ROM. If it does the same thing, then it will be ready for warranty
I hoped I won't have to do it but thanks

I guess I went too far installing paid apps from applanet, I'm sure one of them realized that and is messing with the phone as a payback

More likely the rom has caused a problem . Wipe phone flash to stock froyo see what happens .

Restore factory settings and if it wont work then flash with stock rom

Stock atrix battery life sucks!

I can't see how this is one of the biggest batteries out yet after a full nights charge and barely using the phone it needs to be charged again by the middle of the day! I'm tempted to put my sim card back in my iphone... If any one has suggestions I'm all ears.
Oh and I've tried to follow steps to root/unlock etc. but I get errors from the rsnlite 5.3.? installer that it can't install.

Dude, there are like three complete threads here with solutions to battery problems. Why did you create another one?
Two of them are in the very same section where you created this thread.
Solution to your battery life woes can be had by putting your sim back inyour iphone. The atrix and instructions to use this forum seem to be above your level of using technology. Btw, my battery life has been awesome.
I voided my warranty.
Dude seriously if you battery sucks its because you dont know how to use the phone properly i get 15-24 hours with heavy texting facebook and browsing you dont need to complain about somthing its your own issue creating another thread is useless post up on the others not here
Holy snot I in no way was bashing the phone but was venting my frustration in how complicated it seems to be to get the battery to last...
I also posted in the general section not QA where I knew I would get bashed.
Im on stock 2.3.4 and it seems like (due to not being able to install the 5.3 lite program) I'm stuck running stock rom and can't make changes needed you guys can.

If you aren't comfortable flashing a new rom and/or freezing system apps, give the "2x battery" app a try. It certainly is an improvement to the stock battery life.
I really want to flash one but the program I need to install on my cpu won't install... I keep getting error msgs and no one has been able to give me a solution why yet.
I used to have an htc fuze and flashed roms almost daily so I have the knowledge but my machine isn't cooperating with the needed download to unlock.
Ill try the 2x battery, thank you for the help.

Could not disagree more. On my stock Atrix, I was getting just over 2 days usage (not just leaving the phone on the table) pretty consistently. Rooted and GB rom now, am getting a day and a half but am probably just getting the battery and rom used to each other lol
I don't get it, I had 80% 2 hours ago then went to 70% powered off and on and now I have 80% again?

Freezing apps would definitely help. Especially is you use "System Panel" to find the culprits.
Although from what I've heard isn't stock supposed to have better battery life than the custom ROMS?...

@ccrows- It only lets me select the daytime mode due to not having the PRO version. And I dont see in it where I can freeze apps?
It actually seems to be charging faster as well. How long does it take you guys to get a full charge from dead on average?

camera-flash and flashlight apps

I have been searching but unable to get a likely probable answer except the light burned out maybe, but has anyone experienced the back light not working or unable to access light via apps?I just noticed trying to take a pic last night that the light didn't come on,so of course checked all the settings i could think of and downloaded a handful of flashlight apps to test it and none of them trigger the flash light it acts like it is working no errors or force-closures,co which leads me to believe probably light burnt out is this common?also does anybody know any things to check in the system or settings to make sure something didn't get deleted or corrupted .it is weird in the last 2 weeks my USB port stopped working and now the light isn't working ie flash..I did recently flash pimp my ROM and updated to the newest 4EXT RC other than that nothing major has been changed..any ideas please if you can post anything you got to help out it would be great..:crying:
I did try another ROM along with a FULL WIPE formatted system as well. So it doesn't seem to be a ROM issue. But not sure . I don't knowif it is possibly an issue caused by either pimp my rom or 4ext since I am unaware how they are stored in system and if they are wiped during the wipe process.
Sounds like the LED fried. I don't even think they sell replacements for those.

Thanx for the help on the issue ,i guess my light is fried out.Now I have a bad usb port and a burnt out light so no flash on camera and unable to access via bootloader because of usb ,funny thing is it still charges, so (usb) it partially works .I think it is time to retire this bad boy.

[Q] Alarm When Phone is Off

Ok i keep it straight..
Its my first Android device (The S4.)
Switching from my nokia c7 i've had this issue of alarm not going off when phone's off..
Actually i faced this problem that day when i had only 4% battery left (obviously it wasnt going to last that night)
So i turned off the phone and thought the ALARM would wake me up the next day..( as my nokia always did )
But to my surprise it didnt...
I did search for some solution on xda but no luck..
But then i saw the link of alarm working WITH PHONE OFF on the Rival HTC ONE..(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2406083)
So i was wondering whether the devs would be able to make some app..(Or refer me if theres any as i couldnt find one..)
Thanks for your precious time..
Regards.
Me
EDIT : So i was going though some more stuff on this matter and found something relevent..
Like there is a real time clock running on pc (that keeps time even when its off)..
Maybe HTC does use that to make its ONE power on ..
I think some files in the kernel can be edited for some progress on our s4 ( I am completely a noob and have no idea about kernels n all , i just read it somwhere)..
Maybe some real pro can help us out here, by studying htc one's files.. and try to make it work on some other 'SmartPhones'.
+1 to that plenty of time phone nearly dead and would love to do this if possible

The problem is that some 'smartphones" never really turn off.
My Blackberry Storm was one of those and my guess is that the previous phone you had didn't either.
If the phone is in deep sleep mode, then it can wake up.
If on the other hand, it's off, and I mean really off, there is nothing you can do.
The current crop of Android phones turn off; not go into a deep sleep.
Then how can HTC one do it..
I mean it may go to deep sleep..
But can't our s4 go to deep sleep..?

When your screen is off your phone is in deep sleep. At least should be i dont know how they did it but when you turn off android phone its off. No alarm. Maybe they have modified fly mode and altered frequencies for cpu gpu etc to be just enough to ring alarm with almost zero power consumption. But again its not off. I miss that too. Its like where to **** is my charger or hope my alarm rings

With screen off battery goes down by more than 8-10%
I don't think that's deep sleep.. (in deep sleep battery shouldn't drain more than 2-3%..)
Yup if HTC can do that y cant Samsung.. Or other devs..

It's not a matter of firmware/software (which you clearly don't understand), it's a hardware thing. The hardware isn't capable of it.

Yes. Software-based. The question is that if a 3rd party app have access to the system to create an "auto on" or if is something that needs to be manage on the OS itself. Maybe with root access?
